Behind Closed Doors

Aspen sighed, and fixed her hair. It was her first day interning in one of the biggest law firms of New York. She had been chosen by Mr. Nicholas Lawson, James Chester's firm partner, to become his intern. Aspen knew the details about Lawson, and Chester. Mr. Chester had written a novel about his life, and how he came to be one of the richest, and most well known men of our time. No doubt, she was nervous to be working under such a well known lawyer, but also a lawyer who has been rumored to be running for a seat in Congress.

As the elevator doors opened, her breath caught in her chest. The floors were a bright white marble, with the furniture a rich mahogany, and burgundy cushion. She was speechless at how absolutely beautiful the lobby area alone, was. Making her way to the front desk, she smiled to a blonde girl, about her age. "Hello, I'm Aspen Walters. I'm the new intern?"

The blonde smiled kindly, then paged someone. Within moments, a tall man came from behind a door in the back. He smiled, and opened his arms in exclamation. Nicholas reintroduced himself to Aspen, and led her to the office in the back. He knocked on one more door, and then revealed one of the largest offices she had ever seen. Nicholas excused himself, leaving the intern with her new boss.



Nicholas lead the small brunette to his friends office, and then left the two of them there. He had other business to attend to. Making his way back to the lobby, Nicholas hopped up on the desk, and looked down to Bexley. "Hey kitten, would you like to leave for lunch later? I was thinking Italian." He eyed her up, and down. She looked like a tasty little snack, but he knew he had to be on his best behavior, at the office at least.

"And then for dinner tonight, I was thinking I could whip us up some stir-fry, and lo mein." Nick loved cooking, and he loved spoiling Bex more than anything. "And you can choose what we have for dessert!" He chuckled, and kissed the tip of her nose. He couldn't resist himself, in all honesty.

The rest of the day at the office was a blur. Nick was ready to be home, and relax with his girlfriend. Getting the ingredients prepared for dinner, he hummed quietly to himself. Lost in all thoughts possible.

James walked into his office and set his papers down on his desk. He sat down and started to fill out some papers. He heard a knock on his door, “Come in.” He said, moving to get to his feet. He smirked as Nick came through the door, “And what gives me the pleasure of seeing you?” He teased his friend. He smiled when he seen the girl that walked in behind him. When he introduced Aspen he smiled, “It’s nice to meet you Aspen.” He said as he shook her hand. He couldn’t believe how gorgeous she was and she was working for him. James watched as Nick left them to probably go find Bexley. He looked at Aspen, “So tell me what made you want this job?” He asked as he moved over to his desk, leaning against it. He could tell that she was excited about her first day. He crossed his arms, “You know I will try to teach you as much as possible, but for now you will be testing the waters and basically helping me keep things in order.” He explained.

Bexley sat at her desk, then looked up as Nicholas sat on her desk. She smiled when she said that he wanted to go get lunch. “That sounds great.” She said. She almost slipped and called him daddy, but she knew that she wasn’t aloud to do that at work. He had told her that was not the place. Aspen twiddled her fingers, her new boss was no doubt drop dead gorgeous. She involuntarily blushed while he spoke. "Well, becoming a lawyer has always been a dream of mine. As the day came to a close, Aspen found her way downstairs to the bustling New York streets. With a heavy sigh, the small girl took out her phone. Yet again, she would have to take the subway home. Groaning, and throwing her head back, she started towards the entrance.



"Why don't you decide where we're going to go for lunch, love?" He smiled down to her, his heart warm, and full. All the joys a little could bring, Bexley brought to Nick. He nodded his head to the sundaes for dessert that night. He made a mental note to pick up the ingredients on his way home. Nick hated that he wasn't able to coddle her more at work. He always felt the need to protect her, or take care of her.

Nick also wanted to pick up a small present for her. The last time they were out she had pointed out a couple stuffed animals, and coloring books she liked. He decided to grab those, and some flowers. It wasn't as though there was a special occasion, he just wanted to treat her right.

James walked downstairs with his phone in his hand. He smirked when he seen Aspen. His eyes moved to her ass, knowing that she probably headed home. "Hey." He said, walking up beside of her. Those two were close and so in love. James shut the door and got in. He had a feeling Aspen would be perfect. "So where to?" He asked as he started the car.

Bexley got her things after work was over and walked to Nick's office. She walked in, shutting the door, seeing he was alone. "Ready to go daddy?" Aspen jumped a little when her new boss came up from behind. She smiled, and agreed to dinner. It beat having to order take out, or heating up leftovers. Nicks heart lit up when Bexley greeted him. "Almost princess, just have to shut down the computer." He looked up to her, and smiled. "Yeah, we gotta run to the store. But if you see something you want, we can get it." He closed his laptop, and walked over to his girlfriend, gently placing his hand against her cheek, he leaned down and kissed her. Work had been boring, and all he thought about was getting to finally go home, and be with his little.

Taking her hand, he lead them to his car, and started up towards the store. He only had to grab a few things, but he was becoming impatient. Something about seeing Nick with a new intern, and one that he seemed to find physically attractive, made him want to cuddle Bex. "Italian sounds wonderful!" She couldn't help but blush at how much of a gentleman he was. The way he was taking care of her, and handling things was leaving her a little speechless. His compliments kept her cheeks a deep shade of red. "I'm really enjoying it so far. I really can't wait to see where things go for me. It's my dream to have my name as apart of a firm, someday." She smiled, thoughtfully. "Or to just have a name that's known." Sometimes she dreamt of being taken care of, not having to work or worry about anything. She loved the thought of being a housewife, but wouldn't ever admit to it.

"I will honestly eat anything you put in front of me." She laughed, at least she was honest. Not something maybe people were, anymore. "So, tell me about you? Not that the tabloids don't hound you enough, but I know those have to be lies. Like one was something about you being married in Australia, but have a mistress here." She rolled her eyes, and sipped the wine that was brought to their table. In all honesty, she was hoping to find out he was single. She wanted to get to know him as best she could.



Nicholas held his littles hand as he drove them. "I miss you too, kitten." He smiled, and thought about his day. Not a lot happened. He was called about a new client, but it wasn't a huge case. Just some custody issues that were being taken too far. "It was long, all I wanted to do was steal you, and get home!" He chuckled. Nick puckered his lips in thought, "He might have an interest in her. Why, do you need more friends?" He teased.

Once the couple arrived to their apartment, Nick immediately began dinner. He was happy that he could cook meals for his girlfriend, and that they could have the comfort of home. He wasn't much for going out, or being around groups of people. Being at home with Bex was all he really needed in his life.

Aspen thought about his question, she didn't really have any good stories. "Um, well I guess since you shared your relationship past I can share mine. I was recently left three months before our wedding, and he left me for a girl who has already cheated on him before." She looked down, and shrugged. "Kinda took me for granted though, so I'm not entirely heartbroken. Just upset I bought so many new lingerie sets for the honeymoon, and now they're pointless." She joked. She felt comfortable around James.



Nick smiled as she walked off. He got dinner started, he was planning on a stir fry, with noodles, and home made spring rolls. If he hadn't become a lawyer, he would've become a chef. When he heard Bex's voice, he caught a glimpse of what she was wearing. The couple had been together for a while now, and she still took his breath away. "My pretty pink princess." He smiled, and continued away at the stove. "I'm making stir fry, noodles, and spring rolls. Do you want anything else, love?"

Stopping for a moment, and leaning over to gently kiss her cheek, Nick smiled. "I love you. You leave me speechless, all the time."

Plating their servings for the both of them, he sat down on the couch next to Bexley. Two glasses of wine sat with their food. "You can pick whatever you wanna watch."

James smiled, "Women are more approachable and generally nicer." He explained. "I could have hired a guy, but most people prefer to be greeted by a woman. Its just the world we live in." He explained. He listened to her when she said her fiance left her. "Well he was a fool." He said. "I'm sure that lingerie looks great on you." He teased her.
