    (I couldn't figure out what post I was missing of mine... I had to go back and look at the list in our messages Facepalm }

Blake pulled away the moment that James declared he was fine to feed himself. She tucked her feet under herself, her hands resting in her lap as she lowered her gaze. She studied the space between them, not quite brave enough to look up at James. She wouldn't dare let herself think that James cared about her in a special way, it was just that she was a well behaved slave and she didn't do anything James told her not to. She had rebelled just a bit in the beginning but after her few punishments, Blake would never dare try it again. She told herself that, whenever she felt herself getting a bit too sappy.

Like right now, Blake wanted to climb into the bed and cuddle up to James. Thank him for defending her and believing her when she told him why she had lashed out at the other man. But she refrained, so fofucsed on her thoughts that when James spoke up, breaking her from her thoughts, she couldn't help but jump out of her skin.

"Hm?" Blake hummed, tilting her head slightly. When she realized what he had said, she gave a quick nod. Blake was hungry but she hadn't even considered taking any of the food for herself. It wasn't hers to be had. It was that simple. "Um.." she trailed off, leaning up just a bit to look over the food on the tray. Ultimately, she reached for a plate of chicken strips and fries. It was so simple but it was something she had never been able to indulge in. Living in the wild, breading chicken wasn't a luxury they could afford.

Blake shifted, clearing her throat as she glanced toward James. "Was there anything in particular you wnated to do today sir? Other than resting?"

James swallowed his food and glanced over at Blake as she asked her a question. He was not sure what he wanted or was going to do today. All he really knew was that he was tired and his body hurt. What could he do anyways? It wasn't too often that James was stuck in bed for a whole day. When this happened, he typically slept and ate, maybe watched a movie or two in the meantime. Though, for some reason, that did not feel quite right today. While he shouldn't really be concerned about it, he did have Blake here with him and he did not want the girl growing bored. James suppose he could let her go have a day off but he wasn't keen on the idea.

"No... I didn't have anything in mind for today." He finally told her before going back to eating what was in front of him. Taking the few moments of silence, James finished the food on his plate and then stacked in on the cart before pulling off another plate. He needed to keep eating with the way his body was using energy to heal himself. If he didn't, he wasn't going to be much better off tomorrow. "Do you have any suggestions?"

Blake hasn’t had anything in mind, not even allowing herself to consider what she would do with an entire day to herself. Even before she had been captured, Blake had been focused on surviving and a bit less on enjoying life. It was a bit sad, sure, but That had been Blake’s entire life. It was all that she had ever known. She didn’t really know what she was missing out on.

Giving a quick nod of her head when James answered her, Blake opted to fall silent as she focused on the food in front of her. She didn’t want to disturb James while he was eating. Plus what would she even say? She could hold a conversation with other humans no problem but she had no clue what was appropriate to discuss with James. Or if he’d care about anything she thought about. After the situation with Killenger the day before, Blake didn’t want to risk pushing any buttons with James.

“Hm?” Blake hummed when James started to speak, looking up from her plate as her eyes widened. “Oh, no, no sir. I didn’t... I mean, I just wasn’t sure if I should prepare for the day given the state you’re in. I just... I wanted to make sure that if I did, I did that right away,” she caught herself, her cheeks flushing as she realized she’d started to ramble. “Of course I will do whatever you require of me. Whatever your preference for today.. is fine,” Blake finished, satisfied with how she had left things.

James looked over at the girl softly as she started to ramble. There was something so soothing about her voice even though he thought her actual words to be slightly on the irritating side. He did not like that the human did not answer his question at all, nor the fact that she was worried about her duties at the time. "If there was something that was expected of you, you would be told." He said a bit curtly before looking down at his meal again. He didn't want her to think about what she should do, he wanted Blake to tell him what she wanted to do.

After another bite or two, James set his food down on the cart before looking up at Blake again. "We are done eating for now. They will bring more food at lunch." He said before grabbing her plate and setting it down on the cart. James wanted her full attention and he wanted it now.

"Since it is your actions that got me into this mess, it is your responsibility to entertain me for the day. I do not want to be bored because I have to sit around her all day and wait to heal." James said as he folded his arms. The action caused some pain up his spine but he ignored it in order to alpha her. "And don't think that pretty little pussy of yours is going to enough to entertain me today." As much as he wanted to fuck her, James knew he needed to wait until tomorrow due to his current state. But once tomorrow came....oh Blake was in for it.

Blake swallowed around the lump that had formed in her throat when James spoke to her. She gave a sheepish nod of her head, her stomach twisting into a knot. She followed on the food in front of her, not wanting to risk doing anything else that might end up upsetting James. She couldn't be too sure but it seemed that asking him if she should be doing anything in particular had been the wrong thing to do and now she couldn't help but be on edge.

The moment the plate was pulled away from her, Blake was quick to turn her full attention to James. She was always so focused on him, anything that he required she was willing to tend to but particularly so after James having been injured in the fight with Killenger. All to defend her.

She couldn't seem to shake the fear that washed over her when James said it was her job to make sure he was entertained for the day. Blake knew what James liked to do and what she would normally go to to 'entertain' him but just as the thought passed through her mind, James was telling her not to even consider fucking him. She drew in a deep breathe, giving a tiny nod of her head. She felt sheepish, like she didn't even know what she was supposed to say or what to do. THis wasn't part of her normal routine, it wasn't something that she was used to or that she had a plan for.

"I.. I.." Blake paused, clearing her throat as she looked down to her lap. "We could watch movies? Or I'm sure there's some board games to play... or one of those.." she paused, her face scrunching as she tried to remember what they were even called. "Game video systems?" She thought that sounded about right and she even gave a nod of her head as if it would help cement her offers on entertaining James.

"A movie first then," James said as he motioned for Blake to come closer. Once the girl was close enough, he grabbed her and pulled her right into his chest. The weight of her body pressed down hard into his injuries, but at this point James did not care. He knew what he wanted and it was Blake, in his arms with her mouth closed. "Do not argue with me. Just relax and watch the movie." He said before she could get all concerned about his injuries.

With that, James grabbed his remote and started to flip through the channels until he found some simple movie that they could watch. It was Beauty and the Beast. The man let out a hum before leaning back and wrapping his arms around her tightly. This would be suitable for a few hours, and then they were going to have to move onto something else.

As the movie went by, James started to slowly run his fingers through her hair as he held her close with his other arm. This was all he really wanted to do today.

Blake let out a small 'oof' as she was pulled flush against James' chest. It was something that she would normally bask in, the comfort of being so close to him enough to calm her nerves. She tensed, leaning open to speak. She hadn't meant to say she shouldn't be close to him, only that she should lay against his side instead. So that she wasn't applying direct pressure to his ribs but before she could speak, James told her to be quiet.

She squeaked, giving a tiny nod of her head as she settled against James. Her eyes settled on the television, not particularly paying any attention to the shows that were playing. James kept changing the channel and even when he had settled on something, Blake found her body relaxing against James more and more.

When Blake realized that he'd set the remote down, she turned her attention toward the tv. As she started to realize what the plot was, Blake couldn't help but shift even closer to James. It felt oddly familiar yet she didn't dare point that out. She told herself she was just reading into things too much - she was a slae and James was her master. That was all there was to it.

Blake yawned part way through the movie, not even realizing she was falling asleep as she let her eyes flutter shut. Stuffed from breakfast and wrapped in James' warm grip, there was no chance at her staying awake.

A small smile came over James' face as he looked down at Blake, seeing that she was falling asleep on his chest. Admittedly, this was kinda nice. He decided to do the same and relaxed more so against the bed, closing his own eyes. Besides, the more he slept, the more likely he was going to feel better tomorrow. And James had some things that he really wanted to do the next day...

After an hour or so, James awoke to a knock on his door and before he could say anything, they were already walking into the room. It was James' secretary. She walked in, a little 'oh' coming out of her lips as her eyes landed on James and Blake in the same bed. James quickly shook Blake awake before he unwrapped his arm around her and slowly pushed himself up in sitting position with a groan.

The secretary looked down at the both of them with a frown on her lips and a watchful eye now on Blake. That was... interesting. "Good Morning Sir, I am sorry if I interrupted anything."

Blake hadn't slept as soundly as she would have wanted the night before because she'd been too worried about James. It came as no surprise that she had drifted off within just a few minutes of James pulling her into his chest. As much as it wasn't allowed, Blake found a certain sense of safety near James. It was obvious that he cared for and he would protect her; so long as she wasn't in the wrong. James would punish her if she deserved it.. he would be kind to her otherwise. Right?

Jolting awake when James shook her, Blake's eyes went wide as she all but flew off of James' chest. Her cheeks heated to a deep red as she sat up, dragging the blanket up to her chest as if there was something to even cover up. Blake swallowed the lump in her throat, not daring to look up from her lap.

James was certainly in charge but that didn't mean that his secretary couldn't go talking about what she had just witnessed. She didn't know if it would cause any problems but she was suddenly afraid; as if she'd been found doing something that could get her in trouble. Blake looked around, reaching out to grab at the notebook that she'd left abandoned on the far nightstand. She always kept it with her, in case she had to write something important down. Blake flicked to the first open page, not sure why his secretary had appeared but she thought it was best to be prepared.

"What is there to interrupt?" James said as he looked back at his secretary. Though his head tilted to the side a bit, his eyes narrowing as if he was challenging her. "However, if you are worried about Miss Homer, you do have the option of knocking and waiting to be allowed in."

Miss Homer was quiet as she took a small step back and gave a nod of her head. She was quickly backing down, though she did allow herself another look Blake...yes, this was a very interesting development indeed. "Of course, sir, my apology." The woman then went back to standing up properly before lifting her tote purse up and taking out some medication, some flowers, and two cards. "I came to check up on you. Everyone in the office is worried about you.

Miss Homer set two of the cards down before handing James the medication directly. "I really must insist that you take these instead of what you currently have." She gave him a bit of a pointed look before turning to Blake. "Go fetch me a vase for these flowers."

The woman poured him a glass of water. "You know how the office gets when their alpha doesn't come in. So, naturally, they got you two cards and flowers. And, of course, they want to have lunch once you come back. I've already set up everything for it except the date... though when do you plan on coming back?"

Blake's heart was racing as Miss Homer stood in the doorway of the room, her eyes focused on the notepad set in her lap. She was so sure that somehow this was going to turn out badly for her. After everything that had happened the day before with Killenger... and being caught in a compromising position? It would paint a not so pretty color of James and Blake was sure she was about to hear about it.

All but throwing herself off of the bed when the woman directed her to go fetch a vase, Blake rushed out of the room. She kept her head lowered, her cheeks flushing when a few of the servants started whispering when they saw her. Blake was relieved when she found a vase in the kitchen, filling it with some room temperature water before she headed back up to James' room. Blake knocked before she entered, moving as quietly as she could as she put the flowers into water before setting the vase on James' dresser.

Blake stood off to the side, her hands clasped in front of her. She was to be seen when others were around, not heard. There was nothing for her to say. Swallowing, Blake shifted her weight from one side to the other as she wondered what Miss Homer and James had spoken of while she hadn't been in the room.

"You should really tell them to stop worrying so much, Miss Homer. I do have some expectations of you being able to keep the office calm while I am away." James said as he shook his head. Though, in reality, he knew that the woman could only do so much. Once something was stuck in their minds, it was difficult to depart them from it. "Tell them that I will be back tomorrow before lunch. And put it on -"

"Your card." Miss Homer said, interrupting James with a smile. "I already did Sir." She said before heading over to him and picking up a wet rage from the bedside table. "You know that it is important that you are well and show up to the office." She reminded him as she gently dabbed the cloth on his face, cleaning up some of the scars gently.

The woman was quiet for a moment before continuing, wanting to test the limits. "You really shouldn't fight over unimportant matters. It's selfish and you end up worrying the whole office." She looked over at Blake for a moment. "You know that everyone knows. You are going to have to deal with that when you come back."

James looked up at Miss Homer, looking at her, unamused. "I do not remember asking for your advice, and I suggest that you keep it to yourself.

"You know that it is true." She whispered to him before setting the rag down. "And you didn't hire me to just listen to every word you say. Just... focus on what is more important and maybe find someone worth it."

James was quiet for a long moment before shaking his head. "When you head back, remind them that doing their work will please me."

Miss Homer gave him a warm smile. "Yes, Sir." With that, she headed on her way out.

It was clear as day to Blake that the wolves in James’ pack didn’t like her. Especially not after the little stunt yesterday and how badly injured their alpha was. How big of a deal had just fallen through... all because Blake hadn’t just let Killenger do as he pleased with her body. She knew it would have upset James but his anger would have been better than him injured and his pack hating her.

Miss Homer’s words struck Blake more than she thought they would. Her heart skipped a beat as she turned her head to the side, fighting the urge as her bottom lip quivered. As much as she knew the two wolves could pick up on her emotion, Blake was determined to at least appear strong. Blake’s lips pressed so tightly together that her lips tinged a lighter color. She only allowed herself to breathe when Miss Homer finally left the room.

Blinking away the tears that pricked the corners of her eyes, Blake cleared her throat timidly. “C-Can I.. can I go freshen up for the day, sir?” Her voice was soft, not as sure of herself but she was doing her best to keep her composure. It wasn’t fair to James to make him deal with her emotions. She was just a slave to him, to think differently was foolish. All Miss Homer had done was point that out.

James' attention moved back to Blake once Ms. Homer was out of the room. It was easy for him to tell that the girl was upset. Though, he was not quite sure how to comfort her, especially since he now had his own things on his mind. He needed to think about what to do about his pack once he came in tomorrow. He didn't want people knowing that somehow this girl had gotten on the softer side of him. "Yes, you may," James said before leaning back into the bed.

He was sure if he pretended he didn't know she was upset that Blake would just head on her way, which is what he needed for now. Once the girl was gone, James let out a sigh and closed his eyes. Now what? His pack knowing was not preferable but there was still a hierarchy. They might say something but no one was going to try to take his place over something like this. Plus, his pack would keep this secret.

However, this information was sure to worry them. Especially since he now had such an obvious weak spot. Enough so that he was willing to fight another Alpha. James pinched the bridge to his nose. Something needed to be done about this.

"Thank you," Blake murmured before she turned and all but ran from James' room. She didn't stop moving until she hit her room where she launched herself inside, pushing the door closed behind her. She dropped to her knees almost immediately, tears welling in her eyes now that she was finally alone. Blake let out a broken sob as her shoulders sagged, wrapping her arms around herself. She wanted so badly to go back to James and press herself into his side, to be comforted by James but she knew he couldn't. He could never because he was a powerful alpha and she was a slave - to want anything else was her problem.

Blake was overstepping, that was all that it was. She needed to remember what her place was. And that was a slave that followed James' around, keeping notes of anything and everything that he may need to remember.

It was nearly twenty minutes before Blake had calmed down enough to gather her bearings. She stood, grabbing one of her plain black dresses. It wasn't anything special but she didn't want to pull any attention in her direction. She showered and did her hair, deciding to just put a light layer of make up on so that people wouldn't be able to see that she'd been crying. She was sure some of the wolves in James' employment knew but she knew they wouldn't question about it.

Once Blake thought that she was more appropriate, she started back up to James' room. She knocked on it, keeping her head lowered as she waited for James to invite her inside. Even once she'd stepped into his room, Blake kept her head lowered and stared at her feet, reminding herself to stay focused on her duties.

Once Blake was in the room, he could tell that something had shifted in her. She kept her distance again, her head was lowered and she wasn't looking at him. James was sure that it was from the rather awkward conversation with his secretary. Though while she was gone, James had some time to think about what he wanted to do. Admittedly, Blake wanted to keep treating her well. As much as it would be easier to ignore, he had a soft spot for the human.

Pushing himself up, James sat up against the headboard of his bed. He then reached his hand out to her. "Come here, Blake." James said softly, waiting for her to come over. He wanted her to be at least liked by his pack, and James had an idea on how to do that. Though, he was going to have to be careful. His pack would surely have a hard time understanding, and he did not want them to think that he lost his edge. Though, James was sure that he could get them to accept the girl. After all, James had been their leader for a long time and he had proven himself.

Once the girl was at his side, James pulled her into the bed with him, gingerly having her move onto his lap, despite his injuries. "I would not worry about what she said." James whispered as he gently ran his fingers through her hair. "Everything will be okay, I can assure you of that."

Miss Harper's words just kept running through her mind. Over and over, even as she stood in front of James. She wasn't worth the trouble, she wasn't worthy of being close to an alpha as strong as James. After all, she was a human. Humans never were with a wolf, not in the way that she wanted to be with him. It was foolish and it was wrong of her. She should stay focused on her duties. To be James' assistant. Other than that, she had nothing she was supposed to focus on. Her own desires didn't matter. She was human.

"Sir," Blake breathed his title, reminding herself what her place was. She seemed to hesitate for a moment before she stepped forward, nearing James almost reluctantly. She shouldn't be this close to him, in his bedroom. It was wrong. It was all so wrong but Blake wasn't about to tell James no. That was even worse than the idea of letting herself get too close to him.

James pulled her into his lap and Blake's resolve broke before she even had a chance to consider what the ramifications were. She melted into his chest, careful not to let all her weight rest on him. "She's right though. I'm... it doesn't... I don't know. I just.. I wasn't worth getting so hurt. Not when Killenger's deal was so important. I should have just.. let him have what he wanted. Because that way you wouldn't be hurt and I wasn't... people weren't questioning you. Which they shouldn't do to begin with. You're their alpha," she declared with a huff, as if it was the most normal thing in the world to her.

A light chuckle came from James after Blake had finished speaking. He was rather surprised by the words that were coming out of her mouth. Though, he was also - in a way- pleased to hear her defending him, even though it really was not necessary. There was nothing in those matters that she could do for him, but it was still sweet. The man leaned down and pressed a little kiss against her forehead. "These are things that you do not need to worry about." He assured her. "They were my decisions and I do not want you making decisions that you think would be best for me. I am more than capable on figuring that out myself."

His eyes glanced over his face before a smile moved across his lips. "You are a silly girl." James started to play with their hair once again, allowing his fingers to move through the strands before going back to the stop of her head once again. "The Killenger deal would have been good but it will be easy to make another one with a different company, with someone less... like him. And I will be fine enough to go into work tomorrow. As for my pack, they are merely worried about me."

"Everything is going to be okay, do you trust me?" James asked as he looked at her, his head turning curiously. He wondered what she was going to say. Blake always just followed her because it was what she had to do. Though he did not know how she felt about him past that.

Blake's shoulders sagged with relief when it became a bit more clear to her that James wasn't angry with her. He'd been hurt the night before so he'd lashed out at her and they hadn't really gotten the chance to really talk since the whole ordeal with Killenger. Her stomach twisted and churned at the thought, even as James reassured her that everything would be fine. She gave an almost immediate nod of her head at his question. "Of course, sir," she answered, her voice sounding rather small. Her brows pulled together before she looked up to meet his gaze.

"I just... I didn't... I didn't want you thinking... I wasn't loyal," Blake tried to explain, feeling like she was doing an awful job of it despite herself. She didn't think that she would ever feel like this with anyone other than James and she was almost sure that she was just being foolish. She was a human girl, James was her master. She was required to be loyal, no matter what James did to her. She was just reading too much into it. As much as she wanted to shout about how much she cared for James, she chose to keep her mouth shut.

Blake swallowed around the lump that formed in her throat, made up of unspoken words. She reached out, brushing her fingers through his hair. Her body ached for more but her desires didn't matter here, she knew that. She just needed to focus on James' needs, his wants. "As long as you're okay... will be okay, that's all that really matters," Blake finally spoke, her voice dipping a few octaves lower. "Would you like me to run another bath? If you rest in lavender and peppermint, your muscles will relax. The heat will also help you to feel better."
