Lexie

I had just gotten home from work and started dinner, hoping it would be finished before Brian got home. It wasn't unusual for him to lose his temper over the smallest things so she wasn't trying to do anything that would push him.

Matt

Sitting in my chair, I was just trying to relax and enjoy a game. I hadn't had much free time lately and I just wanted something to take my mind off of work and how my relationship with Nevaeh felt like it was out of control again.

I pulled into the driveway of my house and got out. I sighed as I locked my car up and headed up the driveway and inside. I could smell dinner being made. "Lexie?" I called out.

Nevaeh

I had just gotten off work and I was now headed to the house I shared with Matt. I was praying he would be in a good mood by the time I got there. I pulled into my parking spot and headed up to my front door. I unlocked the door and walked in. "Hey." I said, seeing Matt

I felt a rush of relief when Brian walked in just as I put the food on our plates, "Hey, dinners ready." I told him, placing the plates on the table and going back to the fridge to get drinks.

"Hey, how was work?" I asked, not turning my attention away from the screen, I was almost finished with this game and I wasn't about to lose. It wasn't a secret that my video games were important to me, and Nevaeh knew that.

Brian

"Alright, I'm going to go change and then I'll be down." I told her before going upstairs. I changed out of my work clothes and into something more relaxing before going back downstairs. "Looks good." I said as I sat down.

"It was okay." I said, sighing as I seen him on another one of his video games. "I'll go get changed and then start dinner." I said, before heading upstairs.

Lexie

Once he was back downstairs, I turned to him, "What do you want to drink?" I asked, grabbing myself a water and waiting to see what he wanted.

"Alright," I told her, focusing on the game and once it was finished I shut it off and went into the kitchen to grab another beer.

"Beer." I said, taking my seat. She got me a beer and I opened it, taking a long drink from it before I started eating.

After changing out of my work clothes, I went back downstairs to start dinner. "So what did you do today? Besides play video games." I asked him.

Lexie

After handing him his beer and sitting down, we are in silence, which wasn't that unusual for us. Taking a sip of my water, I looked at him, "So how was work?" I asked.

I shrugged slightly, "Not too much, honestly I pretty much did that all day." It was true, and it was my usual way to spend my days off, besides when I would go out with the guys for the day, but I hadn't done that in awhile.

"It was okay." I said, eating my food and drinking my beer. "I'm off for the next three days though." I said, looking over at her.

"Well I'm off tomorrow, maybe we can try to do something?" I suggested. I was hoping he'd spend time with me instead of putting his video games or his friends before me.

I nodded and listened, "I have tomorrow off too, maybe we can do something?" I asked, it had been awhile since we had spent time together besides after work.

"Uh sure, did you have anything in mind?" I figured she'd want to do something together since it wasn't very often we had the same days off, "We can do whatever you want..."

I nodded, "that's fine, what did you have in mind?" I asked her. It was rare occasion when we had the same days off so when we did, Lexie always wanted to hang out and I guess I could see why since most of my time was spent st work, with my friends or on video games.

"I'm not sure yet." I said, as I finished putting the ingredients in a dish for the scallop cheesy potatoes I was making. I put it in the oven before starting on the pork chops. "I'll let you know if I think of something.."

"Maybe we could order some food and watch some movies?" I didn't want to suggest too much because he liked to spend his days off relaxing. I figured it would be better to just stay home for the day.

I nodded, knowing she would come up with something, "Just let me know when you figure it out, I guess." I told her, watching as she made dinner.

I nodded, “that works.” I said. I finished eating and got up, putting my plate in the sink. “I’m going to go relax.” I said, kissing the top of her head.

I nodded. “I’ll figure something out, I always do.” I said. I finished eating and put my plate in the sink. “I’ll be in the living room if you want to join me when you’re done.” I said before walking out of the kitchen.

I nodded, taking my dishes to the sink and getting a load ready for the dishwasher. The fact that we would have all day tomorrow together made me slightly nervous, once the kitchen was cleaned up I decided to tidy up the living room a little before going upstairs, "I'm going to take a shower."

Watching as she walked out, I finished my food and took care of my dishes before grabbing another beer from the fridge and going into the living room.

“Alright.” I told her. I was too busy playing my video games to go join her. I figured she’d want to shower alone anyways.

I looked up as Matt came into the living room. “If you want to watch something else, you can.” I said, seeing the look he was giving me for watching Teen Mom 2. It was one of my guilty pleasures.

After letting the water run for a bit, I stripped and stepped into the shower. Looking at her arm as she started washing her body and could see the faint bruises that were left from the last time Brian lost his temper. Sighing softly, she shook her head and tried not to think about it.

Shaking my head, I sat down and pulled my phone out, "It's fine, watch what you want." I scrolled through the posts and pictures, not all that interested in it.

I finished playing a couple of rounds before I got up to go check on Lexie. I knocked on the door and poked my head in. “Lex? You okay?” I asked her.

I looked over at Matt as he sat beside me. I was going to ask him if he was talking to anyone but last time I did that, it caused a fight. I brought my knees up to my chest as I watched my show.

Hearing Brian, I jumped slightly before looking out the curtain, "I'm alright, my mind just wandered a little." I smiled as I shut the water off and grabbed a towel before stepping out, "Finished with your game already?" I asked.

Matt

I noticed Neveah look at me and watched as she pulled her knees to her chest, "What's wrong?" I asked, locking my phone and sliding it into my pocket before looking at her. I knew what she wanted to ask, and I was just waiting for it now.

“No but I wanted to come check on you.” I said when she asked if I was finished. “I’m probably going to play another round or two before I head to bed.” I said as I left the bathroom.

I looked over at Matt. “You just seemed engrossed in your phone...thought you might be talking to someone or something.” I said softly. I said it in almost a whisper in hopes it wouldn’t piss him off.

I waited until he was gone to roll my eyes and let out a soft sigh as I walked from the bathroom to our bedroom. Putting on a pair of shorts and a t-shirt for bed, I pulled the blankets back from my side and laid down. I had hopes that tomorrow would be better, but I had a feeling he'd be doing the same as he was today.

Matt

Rolling my eyes, I looked at her, "Seriously? Every time I'm looking at my phone you think I'm talking to someone." Reaching in my pocket I pulled out my phone and tossed it on the table in front of her, "Look at it." I was at the end of my last nerve tonight.
