Abbey made sure that Meghan was settled in her playroom watching Paw Patrol. The young mother knew that once her toddler's favorite show was on, there were few things that would tear her attention away from the television. She needed as few distractions as possible. With a sigh of relief, Abbey closed the door so it was open just the littlest bit (just in case Meghan should need her) before dashing across the hall to the bathroom. She bent down and opened the cabinet beneath the sink, reaching for the Walgreens bag she had place behind her tampons the previous day. With shaky hands, Abbey stood back up and removed the bag's contents-- a Clearblue pregnancy test.

She had been feeling off for a few weeks now-- and her period had been late. At first, Abbey had chalked it up simply to stress-- Josie had moved in with Rian after her relationship fell apart (good riddance, Abbey couldn't stand the fucker), the guys had just come back from Europe and Meghan was going through her bratty as fuck phase. But after a while, the signs were too big to ignore. Abbey started throwing up every morning, and she wanted nothing to eat but gushers and sparkling grape juice-- the exact thing she had craved when she was pregnant with Meghan. This caused Abbey some alarm. At first, she and Zack had agreed to wait to have their first child until the band wound down, so Zack would be able to be home with them more. But then one night after a few too many shots of tequila at Alex's Halloween party, Abbey got pregnant with Meghan.

Zack fell in love with his daughter from the moment he first heard her heartbeat and quickly warmed up to the idea of fatherhood. He was hesitant on multiple children-- again, he wanted to wait until the band wasn't AS busy. And Abbey agreed. She got a new form of birth control, and the couple were extra careful about their protection. Until now. Abbey was scared out of her fucking mind. What if she was pregnant again? What would they do? Of course, they could more than afford for another child-- but how would Zack react? What would happen if she went into labor while he was on the road, or she was taking care of Meghan while she was home alone? Zack's gym was halfway across town, for god's sake! With a sigh and a shake of her head, Abbey unboxed the test and did what she had to do. She then set the test on the counter. This was about to be the longest two minutes of her life.

The mint haired momma paced back and forth, deciding to text Zack and see where he was at. Yo, muscles, can you do me a favor and bring home some apple juice? Munchkin finished it off and I don't wanna face the morning without it. Thank you<333 Just as she sent the text, the timer went off and it was time to look at the pregnancy test. Biting her lip, Abbey picked it up and examined the little window. And what she saw almost made her drop the test in the sink.

She was pregnant again.

Zack was always quite the morning person, especially when he was home. He loved waking up before the sun and just getting straight to one of his work outs for the day, one of the few things that had kept him sane while his whole world was turned upside down after high school. The other two people keeping him sane was his gorls: Abbey and Meghan. He would literally do anything for his girlfriend and their toddler, even if it included giving up the band, which would, in other circumstances, kill him since that's the only life he's known since he was 16. It didn't help that they became famous literally right after getting their diplomas, or that their success has only grown with the generations. Zack loved it -- even if he was perceived to be the quiet one. In many ways he was, he wasn't as loud or obnoxious as Alex or Jack but he knew how to have fun and live. A side only few saw. One of those people being Abbey because she always knew how to bring the life out of him. She was always his light in the dark and as long as he had her, he knew he couldn't go wrong. Even when everything seemed to be falling apart.

"Earth to Zack." Said his best friend, Rian, who was practically his brother. They had been at the gym all morning, working out rage and whatever else they had on their mind before a quick breakfast meeting with the boys. Rian had been going on and on about the girl he was seeing. How amazing she was and how she seemed to just really get him, which was comical to the bassist since Rian hadn't felt that way in a long time. He remembered when RI first dated Kara then Cassadee, but this girl was genuinely different from them. There seem to be something in his tone that made it hard for Zack to miss the love, even if he claims they are strictly FWBs. He knew, someday soon, he would find out who the girl is. "Just make sure Josie isn't around when you have this girl screaming her name, we don't need you terrorising my baby sister." Zack said, with his signature smirk, as he finished his bench and hit the showers, getting a strange look from Rian but ultimately deciding to ignore it instead of questioning it. If he always questioned the potatoes actions, he'd be the dad of two kids, Meghan and Rian.

An hour later, the breakfast meeting was over, and instead of doing another tour, they decided on working on an acoustic album in Rian's studio. Alex and Lisa were enjoying the married life and trying for a baby, Rian had his new crush, Jack was busy with Andie, and Zack informed the band that he was finally thinking about asking Abbey to finally be his wife. Even though they already acted married, Meghan was at the age where she could be a flower girl and he just knew that he wanted to. He had a ring planned out and everything. It was just a matter of timing now. After the meeting, Zack got in his car to drive home when he got the text from his mint-haired goddess. Tell But daddy will kick her butt if she doesn't calm down. But I'll grab it. Be home in a minute. Love you. he sent back, quickly, smiling at his daughters nickname before shutting off the screen and driving to the store.

He went to the Walgreens right down the street from their house that they frequented quite often. He picked up the Apple juice, some sparkling water for Abbey, and some gushers since she had gone through the boxes they had picked up for Bush's daycare. He grabbed his pre workout and walked up to the counter, making light conversation with the familiar cashier. When he walked out, he heard the cashier go: "oh, I hope everything is okay with Abbey and the little one!" Which made Zack tilt his head, but assumed Abs bought Bug medicine and left it at that. When he got home, he kicked off his shoes at the door, and called out. After waiting 2 seconds and not feeling his child at his legs like normal, he walked towards her play room and the main living area. "Bugs? Abs? You can come out. I took a shower at the gym." He laughed, making Meghan a cup of juice before finding them.

"Daddy's home!" Meghan's shriek of happiness snapped Abbey out of her trance. She quickly shoved the used test back in the box and the box back in its place before following her daughter down the hall. Meghan threw herself around Zack's legs, just saying 'daddy' over and over again. "Hey, you." Abbey spoke with a soft smile, closing the distance between the two. She stood on her tippy toes the slightest bit so she could give her man a hug. "We missed you. How was your workout?" Abbey gave Zack a kiss before standing so she was on flat feet again.

Even looking at Zack, even after all these years, caused the butterflies in Abbey's stomach to beat their wings as fast as fucking possible. There was no doubt that he was the love of her life. They'd been together for ages, ever since Abbey's sixteenth birthday party when Jack spilled his beer all over her, and Zack was the only one to offer her a towel. They'd been inseparable ever since.

Abbey listened as Zack described his day, heading to the kitchen to get a snack together for Meghan as she did so. Like her momma, Meghan was pretty much hungry twenty four seven. She hummed as she set about getting her daughter a bag of apple slices and a capri sun. "Hey Bug, what do you think about going to spend the night with Auntie Lisa and Uncle Alex this Friday?" Abbey knew she didn't even really have to ask-- Meghan practically worhsipped the ground that her godparents walked on. She and Zack were just about due for a date night anyway, so it all worked out. Meghan shrieked out an enthusiastic yes as she snatched her juice and apple slices, running to the living room so she could sit on the couch with her daddy.

Shaking her head, Abbey followed into the living room. "So, looks like this little booger is gonna be Alex and Lisa's problem in two days." She teased, sitting on the arm of the couch so she was next to Zack.

The man laughed as he felt their mini-me wrap around his legs cooing his name over and over like she hadn't just seen him the night before. He messed up her hair, earning her meanest face before the small pink tongue shot out from between her lips. He laughed, kneeling down so he was closer to her height before pretending to reach for her tongue. "Stick it back in or it's mine!" He boomed, earning laughter from the little girl as she pushed him away and he laughed her off. He looked over at his mint-haired goddess, feeling blessed she was his and had been since she agreed on that stupid date years before. He knew from the moment he saw her that she was going to be the woman he'd spend his life with. He always had fine role models to look up to, his own parents, Rian's mom and step dad, Joyce and Bassam, and Peter and Isobelle. He always asked them how they knew and they all responded the same way: they just did. And no matter the distance, she always felt like home to him.

He laughed hearing their daughter's response to the question. He questioned sometimes if she liked her Godparents more than her real parents sometimes. He knew it boiled down to Lisa's binging of snacks and Harry Potter and Alex's sugar craze that kept the child going over. Plus, with the newlyweds already celebrating a year into their marriage, talks of a baby were on the way. Zack had to admit, the thoughts of having another child around made him yearn for a newborn to hold. When Abbey was pregnant, even if he found her beautiful all the time, there was something about her pregnant glow that made him even more attracted to her. Maybe it was the fact he could always see her as a mother, and the thought of carrying his child made him the happiest person in the world. He didn't know, honestly. He tried shaking the thoughts out of his mind, knowing they had to wait till the band was less preoccupied before thinking babies. "I dunno, Bug. I think they'll tell us to keep you. Last time Peyton had make up on her and her toes painted!" He laughed, remembering the pictures of the rescue pit that Alex had sent to him, saying that the hundreds of dollars Lisa spent on "non animal tested." We're now wasted. Meghan shrugged her shoulders, lazily while looking back at her room, getting distracted by the tv again. "Baz and I were having a tea party and auntie Lisa said I can use her make up." She said, matter of factly, before disappearing back into her room, sick of her parents already.

Zack rolled his eyes, laughing as he grabbed onto Abbey, pulling her tight to his chest. His face met her neck as he playfully laughed, kissed, and bit her sensitive neck. "I wonder where she gets that attitude from." He smirked, finally looking her in the eyes before placing a delicate kiss on her forehead. When it came to Abbey he was very affectionate. He hated being away from her as often as he was and he wanted to make it up to her every time he was around. "Finally. Can I actually take you on a date that doesn't involve chicken nuggets and McDonald's playrooms?" He laughed, holding her so she was across his lap, watching whatever was on in the living room. Humming at how amazing life seemed for a moment, studying her face before he spoke again. "Something's up. You have this glow about you. What did I say about letting your other boyfriend's in while I'm at the gym? He laughed pushing her hair out of her face. He could always tell when something wasn't right with her, but he had no idea what could be causing this.

Abbey shook her head, gently running her fingers through Zack's hair. "Babe, sorry to disappoint, but my other boyfriend wasn't here today. Jack was with you guys, making music, remember?" She teased, giving him a gentle shove before kissing the top of his head. And just like that, with a few touches from her man, her anxiety about her recent discovery was lifted and she was able to relax for a minute. "And as for that date that doesn't involved the Golden Arches, I'm down. Just name the time and the place, and I'll change out of my sweats." The mint haired momma patted Zack's knee before getting up from the couch, heading into the kitchen. "So, you guys do anything productive during this little pow wow? Or did you just play video games and tell dick jokes?" Abbey gave a wink as she opened the fridge again to try and decide what to make for dinner. Meghan was currently going through a phase where one day she absolutely loved certain foods, and the next day she would scream her friggin head off if you so much as mentioned it.

Eventually, Abbey just said fuck it and decided to microwave some chicken nuggets. It was a tried and true standby in their house. Once the nuggets started cooking, she set about just heating up some soup for her and Zack. That was pretty much all the young mother felt like she could handle at the moment without puking everywhere. And that would definitely catch Zack's suspicions. "Dinner tonight is just the chicken noodle from yesterday night, is that okay?" Abbey yawned. She slung her arms around Zack's middle and nuzzled her head against his chest, the sound of his heartbeat making her smile contently.

She unwound herself from Zack before turning her attention back to the stove, stirring the soup every few minutes. "Babe, can you go get Bug and tell her dinner's almost ready-- and no, she can't have ice cream before. Because she's already asked me four times today. And I'm this close to just saying yes." Abbey laughed. Every once in awhile, she liked to give in and spoil Meghan. Because despite the brattiness sometimes, more often than not she was a good girl, absolutely doted on by her parents. Abbey caught Zack's lips as he left the kitchen, breathing a sigh of relief when he left the room. She knew she was gonna have to tell Zack about her pregnancy sooner rather than later-- but she had no idea how.

"If you ever left me for Jack I would probably show up in the hotel room and blow my brains out." He laughed, sounding like Jerry from Rick and Morty for a second before holding her tight. The feeling of her in his arms was everything to him and had been since they were kids. Zack was never very touchy-feely kind of guy, but Abbey always brought that side out of him. When she hit his legs and stood up, he leaned forward, swatting at her ass with a boyish grin before stretching out on the couch. "But I like your sweats. They're easy to get off." He wiggled his eyebrows playfully as she left the room, laughing to himself. That was always his favorite part of their relationship: how often they laughed. He kicked his feet up for a second, closing his eyes, almost dozing off for a minute before going to see his woman.

"The pow wow was good. We went over a few things, decided we were going to take a well over due break after the SWIR shows to focus on a new album. Alex has some creativity and with Rian's new recording studio, we're thinking about putting it out ourselves and flying Feldman in for his feedback." He said, raiding the fridge, watching her cook. He never minded what they are but he had a giant appetite at all times, due to how much working out he did. So as she slaved away on the soup, he was munching on some fruit they had in the fridge. "I definitely think something is up with Rian and Josie though. He kept bringing her up ALL day. He's worse than me when I talk about you." He smirked at his girlfriend, throwing a spare blueberry at her playfully. He knew everyone was scared to date Josie, and that was exactly how he wanted it. Because he didn't want anyone breaking her heart and ruining the band or her wind up pregnant before she was married. Even though Meghan was his life, he knew how hard it was for Abbey and didn't want that for his sister. He always planned to make an "honest woman" out of Abbey but didn't know when to ask or how to. That's why he was constantly walking around with the diamond he bought for her. But he didn't feel like any time was special enough for her. "I mean, Josie is an adult, she does what she wants. Plus Rian is the only one I'd trust from the band not to fuck it up with her. So we shall see." He laughed, grabbing her waist and kissing her quickly before disappearing from the room.

He knocked on Meghan's door and opened it slightly watching her play with a baby doll. She was holding it the proper way, feeding it, and saying how much mommy and daddy loved her. "Whatcha playing, pipsqueek?" He asked, squatting down to her height, taking her attention off the doll. "Well, I want a baby sister and I think if I show mommy how happy my dolls are, she'd get me a sister!" The four-year-old spoke, making him laugh softly. "Now baby, mommy and daddy want you to have a sister too, but we got to wait till work is slowing down, okay? So I can be home with you, and mommy, and your new sister." He said, picking her up and putting her on his lap, explaining the situation to her. She wrapped her tiny hands around his neck, telling him she understood, before he told her to wash up for dinner. She begged for ice cream, just like her mother had warned, but he told her she could have extra if she ate all her nuggets. When she started running to the bathroom, he called out her name, causing her to turn and smile, tilting her head like her mom always did with him. "You should tell mommy you want a sibling at dinner." He winked before she grinned, running even faster to the bathroom. He laughed, cleaning up her toys before returning to the kitchen, setting the table and trying to help his girlfriend. "Tell me what you need, captain." He laughed, kissing her neck and swaying with her playfully, kissing up to her ear. "And tell me all about your day, since you know about mine."

Abbey smiled slightly at the feel of Zack's arms around her waist, leaning into his touch. "If you could fill Bug's sippy cup that would be great." She spoke as she turned off the stove. "My day wasn't half bad! Megs and I went to the park, we played dolls and we only watched Moana TWICE!" The young mother laughed as she set about ladling the soup into bowls for her and Zack. Once that was done, she plated Meghan's dinosaur chicken nuggets and set them on the table. "We were gonna try and attempt to do grocery shopping but I didn't have that in me today, I had a pretty killer headache. So Bug and I both took a nap. She sleeps like you-- I ended up hanging off the bed!" Abbey laughed, her face brightening up at the sight of her toddler heading into the room

"Daddy said I could have extra ice cream if I ate my nuggets." Meghan said matter of factly as she sat down at the table and gratefully took her sippy from Zack. Abbey busted out laughing, raising an accusatory eyebrow at Zack as she sat down as well. "Oh did he now? Well, what Daddy says goes." She winked, subtly pinching Zack on the ass as he walked by again. A content feeling settled over Abbey as she started to eat. It was moments like these that she really treasured with her family, just sitting there and having dinner together without one of the guys bursting in and destroying Abbey's pantry. That was the one rule she had-- don't make a mess in her kitchen if you want to live. Even her boyfriend knew better than that. A soft sigh left her lips and she took another sip of soup, nearly choking on it when she heard what Meghan had to say next.

"Mommy, I want a sister." Meghan said between mouthfuls of chicken nuggets. I swear to god my kid is psychic. Can she tell that I'm pregnant? I read somewhere that little kids can sense these things. Fuck, you've been quiet for a little too long. Now they're gonna stare at you like you're weird. Say something, you idiot? Abbey fixed the expression on her face into a smile and leaned over to kiss Meghan's head. "Maybe one day, baby. But remember what we talked about the other day? We gotta wait until daddy's not so busy with work so he can spend more time with us... and besides, what would you do if you had a brother?" Abbey teased, a laugh leaving her lips. I gotta talk to Zack about this. Soon.
