Cady and Branch

Vic sighed a little to herself as she sat at her desk. It was Friday and today was one of the slowest days in history. In all of her time that she worked at the Sheriff's Department, Vic had never seen things so dead. It was even so quiet today that Walt told Branch, Ferg, and her that they could go home early. A small smile danced on her face as she watched Ferg grin brightly. He was truly excited over the fact that they were getting this opportunity. He thanked Walt and then said bye to Branch and Vic before heading out. Vic looked to Branch and laughed a little."Clearly Ferg had some plans." Vic smirked.

Branch laughed a little, "Well since Walt is letting us to go home early, I think I am going to go. Cady was wanting to spend time together, and she is going to be excited that we'll have more time together." He smirked as he collected his things up to leave. Picking up his phone, Branch quickly sent a text to Cady. He looked up to Vic. "And now, I'm going to go have lunch with a pretty lady." He smirked, putting on his sunglasses and pulled his car keys out of the pocket, heading out the office door. Walking down the stairs, Branch stepped outside. Slipping into his car, Branch drove over to Cady's house, knowing that she was working from home.

When Branch left, Vic smiled as she got up, walking over to Walt's office. She knocked on the door before walking in. She smiled to him as she stepped into the office, sitting down in the car across from his desk. "So you let everyone go home early. Walt, I think this a first with you." She commented as she looked to him. She didn't say much, just smiled as she looked to the older man.

Branch drove to Cady's house, parking in front of her house. He stepped out of the car, locking it, before walking up to the front door. When he got to the door, he rang the bell, waiting for Cady to answer.

Walt looked at Vic and grinned at her, "A first time for everything, anymore around here." Walt smiled at her as he looked at her. "Don't you have any plans?" He questioned her as he moved some of the files he'd already done to the side and looked at Vic. He'd always liked the woman, but had never went upon his feelings. Since loosing his wife, Cady's mother. Things had slowly began to grow good for him.

Cady rushed through the house hearing the doorbell. She pulled the door open and smiled seeing Branch, "Hey." Cady leaned in kissing his lips turning on her heels and walking through the house. "Come on in, I am almost ready." She told Branch going back to her bathroom to finish getting ready for their date. "So how come dad let you guys out early?" Cady called out from the bathroom.

Vic laughed at Walt's comment. She couldn't put her finger on it, but there was something different about Walt Longmire, and she wished she knew what it was or what made him change. Watching him intently, Vic leaned back more in the office chair. "No," She simply responded, when asked about having plans. "I've learned that I don't have much of a life when I became single after my divorce." She said nonchalantly with a small laugh. Looking across his desk to him, Vic couldn't help but continue to smile. She wasn't sure if it was for the fact that she hadn't found really anyone since her ex-husband or that there was maybe something within her that was truly attracted to him, but Vic found herself having feelings for Walt. The only question that remained, playing over and over again in her head was could the two of them ever be a couple?

Branch's eyes light up when Cady opened the door. There was just something about this woman that Branch seemed to never get enough of. Quickly kissing her lips, he followed her inside the house, shutting the front door behind him. Watching her walk into the other room to finish getting ready, Branch made his way over to the couch. He sat down, looking at the pictures she had on the end tables. It just made him so happy to see that their relationship really took a good turn once all the political stuff went away and he gave up on the idea of trying to run against Walt Longmire for Sheriff. "It's a little surprising, I know. But your dad walked out of his office, a smile on his face, and told us to go home for the rest of the day."

Looking at Vic, Walt smiled as he got up from his seat rubbing the back of his neck. "Would you like to go for lunch then, so neither of us have plans?" Walt offered. Not being able to put his finger on it. But the feelings that he had for Vic grew every day. He couldn't help but to question if they'd be a couple, or not. But he would be willing to try if he felt it would be fit, and right of time.

Cady walked out of the bathroom and stopped in front of Branch. "A smile on his face, told you all to leave?" She questioned her boyfriend rubbing her neck. "Something has him different, I just wonder if him Vic have hooked up?" She saw Branch look at her. "Oh come on, you know and I know. They like one another. But too stubborn to admit it." She crossed her arms smiling at Branch. "Like someone else." She teased.

Vic smiled at Walt's suggestion. Going to lunch with Walt Longmire sounded like an absolute perfect idea. Making eye contact with his eyes, she simply just nodded. "I would love that idea." She admitted, feeling her heart beat a little faster than normal. As she looked to him from across the room, she couldn't help but wonder a little more about these feelings she had for him. She wouldn't dare say a word to him, but she knew that these feelings were there and she had them buried deep inside. "Where do you want to go?" She then asked, not wanting to make this goes silent or awkward.

A shocked face slapped across Branch's face when Cady bought up the idea of Walt and Vic hooking up. He did not seem that coming, and to hear Cady be so nonchalant about it surprised him even more. "I don't know...I mean..." He trailed off, thinking those two. Looking to his girlfriend, he just smiled. "What can I say? I wasn't sure how to be when I figured out that I had feelings for the boss's daughter." He chuckled, getting up from the couch to kiss her. When he pulled back, he looked down at her, a still little surprised look on his face. "You really think your dad has hooked up with Moretti?" He was still shocked, regardless if it was starting to make sense to him.

Nodding his head to Vic he smiled at her. "How about the diner down the street?" Walt suggested. "It's on me too." He said getting up and grabbing his coat as he slipped into it. He put his hat on his head smiling at Vic. "Shall we go?" He questioned smiling at her.

Cady shrugged, "I don't think they have hooked up. But he sure does has feelings for her. I am not sure how to explain it. But you can see it all over him." Cady admitted to Branch as she held to him. "It's a feeling of some sort that I can't explain." She smiled kissing his lips lightly.

Vic's eyes lit up at the suggestion of the diner down the street. "Sounds good to me." She said with a small cheerful smile, getting up from the seat. She was just getting ready to turn on her heel and head out of the room when she heard Walt say that this meal was on him. She stopped dead in her tracks. This was something she definitely wasn't expecting. "Walt, you don't have to do that." She commented, but deep inside was completely flattered by his gesture. Seeing that he wasn't gong to let up on the idea of paying for her lunch. Vic knew that she had to finally cave in; there was no way in hell that she was going to win this battle, especially since it was with Walt Longmire. Making her way out of his office, she swiftly walked over to hers, picking up her phone and sunglasses. Doubling checking herself in the mirror she kept tucked away in her desk, Vic couldn't help but mentally scold herself. What the hell are you doing? She scolded herself as she pushed the compact mirror back into the desk drawer. She then cleared her throat before looking up to Walt when he emerged from his office asking if they shall go. "Yep." She said quickly, hiding the slightly exciting smile from appearing on her face. "I'm assuming you're driving." She said as she headed out the door.

Branch kept that smirky grin on his face as his lips lightly kissed Cady's. He still found it rather amusing how his girlfriend and boss's daughter was pretty convinced about this romantic feelings between his Co-Worker and Boss. Again, the idea did make sense to the young man; however, it still stunned him that it's something that could actually happen. "No need to explain baby, I completely understand where it's coming from." He noted with a small smile. "The only thing that's left is to see if those two could or would blossom into a relationship. Looking at the time, Branch looked back up to Cady. "I'm taking a guess that you're ready to go." He said as his eyes looked her up and down, admiring the beauty that she was blessed with. Leaning in once more, Branch kissed her softly on the lips, allowing their bodies to be pressed against each other for a moment. "I love you Cady Longmire." He whispered as he pulled back, linking their arms together so that they could walk out to his Charger. Helping her to the car, Branch unlocked the car doors then opened the passenger's side door. Unlinking their hands, Branch dropped his hand down to hers, keeping a hold of it as Cady climbed inside. Once she was in the car, Branch closed the door before moseying his way around the car to the driver's side. Getting in himself, Branch stuck the key in the ignition before firing up the engine. "Alright baby." He winked with a grin. "Where are we going to lunch today?" He asked, letting her decided the place.

Walt chuckled at her comment. He had seen her checking herself out, and could see the excitement inside of her. But he kept that to himself. "I am driving." Walt smiled as he walked out going to his truck. He opened the door for Vic helping her up into the truck and shutting her door. Once he was inside he took and pulled out heading for the diner down town as he smiled over at Vic. He wanted to open up about his feelings but wasn't sure how things would go with it, if he did.

Cady looked over at Branch with her little smriky grin on her lips, "How the diner downtown?" Cady suggested linking her hand with his. "Good food, and good times." She cheerfully said laughing lightly at her own compliment as she saw Branch nod his head and pull out. She sat back in her seat and watched the view pass by them as she smiled. Since everything, she had never figured her and Branch would end up together again. But here they were, and she was truly blessed each and every day.

Vic silently thanked Walk as he opened the door for her, then helped her inside. Once she was settled in the truck, she looked up at the older man and smiled, giving him a nod that she was all good. She reached for the seatbelt as she watched Walt close the door and started making his over to his own side of the truck. Vic's eyes remained locked on him, until he physically got in the truck. Breaking her eye contact away from the man, she instantly looked down at her hands. Don't make this awkward. Do be awkward. She scolded herself. Clearing her throat softly, Vic finally looked back up, just smiling ever so sweet to Walt. She was really looking forward to this lunch, and couldn't help but wonder if there would ever be a time when they could go to lunch and maybe discuss feelings. Mentally shaking her head, Vic couldn't help but wonder what the hell was wrong with her.

Branch just smiled, having the feeling that Cady was going to suggest the diner downtown. However, he was not one to complain because he always looked forward to every meal that they ate there; especially when it was with the beauty in his passenger seat. Nodding to her lunch selection, Branch put the car in drive before making his way down the street towards downtown. As he drove, Branch let one hand off the wheel, slowly reaching over to Cady, before gently picking up her hand. Intertwining their fingers, the young man glanced over at the red head and just smiled before bringing her hand to his lips, giving it a soft kiss; no once did he let go, nor did he have any plans to either. Even though it was complete silence in the car, minus the radio softly playing country music in the background, Branch felt completely at ease, relaxed, and most of all happy.

Walt noticed how Vic was acting and smiled. He was acting the same way, but trying to hide it the best he could. He drove and once they arrived he got out and helped her out. Smiling to her he took and helped her out as they walked inside the diner. Sitting down he smiled removing his hat and fixing his hair a little bit as he looked at her.

Cady smiled as she felt Branch's hand around her own. She'd never figured they'd be like this again. Smiling to herself she looked out the window. Every moment she got with this man, she was thankful and blessed for.

When they got to the diner, Vic walked with Walt inside. She kept scolding herself. Telling and reminding herself to act normal, that there was no reason why she should be acting this way. When they sat down, Vic looked at the menu that was on the table, not quite sure what to get. "Are you going to get your usual?" She teased Walt as she looked up to him for the first time since they got to the diner.

Branch smiled as they held hands. He was truly happy that they could be like this once more. Pulling up to the diner, Branch parked then looked to her. "You ready for some yummy food, honey?" He winked. He got out of the car, then walked over to her side, opening the passenger's door.

Walt laughed hearing Vic teasing him, "Of course I am. It's about all I like." Walt smiled at her as he placed his order. "Whatever the lady would like goes on my tab too, Delores." Walt smiled at the woman and looked back at Vic waiting to see if she'd go with her usual or something different.

Cady laughed getting out of the vehicle. "I am starving for some." Cady smiled at Branch holding his hand as they walked inside the diner. "And maybe a little of you for desert." Cady whispered into his ear giggling seeing his eyes go wide. "I'm just teasing." She smiled walking to a booth and sitting down.

Vic blushed, knowing that more than likely she was going to pick the same thing off the menu, like she was always did. She looked up to the waitress, and smiled to her. "I'll have my usual with sweet tea, please." She said sweetly. Once the waitress left, Vic brought her attention to Walt once more. "This is nice." She said with a smile.

Branch's eyes went wide, loving the idea that Cady was suggesting. "You have all my attention, my dear." He chuckled with a slight wink. He looked to her and smiled sweetly, before leaning across the table to kiss her. "I love you, Cady Longmire." He chuckled.

"Yes it is." Walt smiled at her as he took and removed his coat off and smiled at her. "So, Vic, how are things going?" Walt asked her trying to make conversation, but to not make things weird between them.

Cady smiled at Branch, "I love you too, Branch." Cady smiled at him as she took and looked over the menu. She knew she'd wind up getting a burger and fries with tea. But it was always to decide if she wanted something different. When the waitress got there she smiled order her usual with the tea as she smiled.

Vic looked to Walt, blinking as he asked her how things were going. She looked to him, sighing softly. How was she? That was a good question. Looking at him, Vic couldn't help but smile. "Things have been pretty good." She said with full honesty. "What about you?" She asked as she tucked a piece of hair away from her face.

Branch looked down at the menu, quickly settling on a steak. When the waitress came over, he looked to Cady, letting her order first. He knew that Cady was going to probably think that she would want to order something new, however, she always ended up going with her usual. He held back a chuckle as he listened to her order. He then nodded to the waitress, placing his order. When the waitress walked away, Branch just smiled at her, giving her a wink before taking a sip of his drink.

Walt shrugged a little before nodding, "I suppose things are good." Walt admitted. "Cady and Branch are going stronger than ever. I swear those two, each time I see them, their all over each other." Walt chuckled out as he smiled at Vic. "So since everything with Shawn, have you thought about trying to date again?" He questioned.

"I saw the almost chuckle escape your lips, Branch." She teased him and laughed. Cady took and shook her head and smiled, "What can I say, I am more like my father than I realized." She giggled shaking her head and smiling at Branch as she saw a message come through her phone about a case she'd been preparing for. She read it over frowning it was not the news she' was hoping for. This was going to push her for having to take another route with this case.

Vic looked to Walt, sighing softly to herself. "I don't know to be honest. I thought about it for a while. The only thing is that I don't know if I want to really go through the hassle of the dating game." She said, speaking honestly. "I mean I would like to date again, and find someone who more compatible and understand about my job; however, I don't know if I will ever find that." She sighed. Picking up her glass, Vic took a sip of her drink, still looking up at him. "What about you?" She asked. "Are you going to give this dating thing a try again?"

Branch laughed a little, and nodded in agreement. "That is definitely the truth. You are most definitely becoming more and more like your father every day." He teased before taking a sip of his drink. When Cady got a message, Branch gave her a minute, allowing her to check her phone. Seeing the frown form on her face, Branch couldn't help but wonder what was going on and if everything was going to be okay. "Baby, is everyone alright?" He asked with much concern.

Sighing at her question Walt kind of shrugged his shoulders a little bit. “I am thinking of so. You know just like you. If I can find someone, who is understanding of my job and what I do.” Walt admitted. Taking a sip of his coffee, he took and let a sigh escape his lips.

Looking up from her phone, Cady sighed shaking her head. “This case that I just took on. I was for sure we had everything to take it further. But.” Cady shrugged. “I guess we didn’t, so I have to figure another way out to clear this guy’s name.” She admitted to Branch frowning a little. “Just a little extra work.” She added smiling as she held to his hand.

Vic didn't say a single word at first, she was just letting her mind process this. Walt Longmire was thinking of dating since when? That question ran through her mind over and over again on repeat as she sat there across from him. She then couldn't help but smirk a little to the fact that they two of them were both considering to let the dating option come back into their lives. "Hell, you and I should date?" She asked aloud, not realized that she actually said it out loud till it happened. "Oh, Shit..." She then mumbled, wanting to bury herself into the seat. She had officially froze know, and didn't know how to dig her way out of this one.

Branch just nodded, trusting that everything was going to be okay when she smiled at him. He knew if there was anyone in town who could figure out a legal matter, it would be Cady Longmire. "Alright honey. Well if there is anything that I can do, please let men now." He reassured her. He knew that he couldn't do too much, however, he would do anything and everything that Cady would ask him to do. Pulling her hand that was holding his closer to his face, Branch placed a light kiss on it, and just smiled looking over at her.
