Heart for Heart

Two years had flown by since Emma Voight, daughter of the notorious Hank Voight, Sargent of the Intelligence Unit of the Chicago PD. Since she'd left Chicago to get away from a failed relationship and gather her mind and thoughts. But this day, very exact day. She was returning back upon receiving a job at Chicago Medical, returning home was something she was looking forward to. Seeing her father and reuniting with some friends as well.

Leaving her town home, she made her way towards the hospital to finish up some last minute paper work she had to sign. Get her badge and uniforms. Arriving at the hospital she walked in and saw the Chief as she took and went to the office. Signing the papers she got her things she needed and smiling to herself. Walking out she hummed lightly glad to be back where she belonged, Chicago.

Just another busy day at Chicago Medical. Those were the words that constantly ran through his mind anymore. Sure, he was glad to be here in Chicago, however, he just had this wishful thinking that something needed to happen, or at least that something needed to change. He just wasn't completely sure what part of his life he felt needed the change. For him, work had been doing well, so it couldn't have been that. However, when he thought about his social life, dating wasn't really going good for him at the moment. The thing to him though was that he needed to focus on his job, and just let everything work out...it always did.

As he finished up with one of his patients, Will started making his way back down the hall. However, something, well more like someone stopped him dead in his tracks. At first he thought he was seeing things, especially since it had been so long since he last saw this particular person. But the reality sank in more as he continued to look ahead at the sight before him. "Emma..." He whispered to himself, looking for somewhere to hide before she would spot him. Was he really going to hide? What was causing him to want to hide? Better yet, since when did he hide from people? Shaking his head at himself, Will removed himself from the hiding place, figuring he should just go be friendly. Strolling down the hall, Will made his way over to the young girl, a small smile dancing across his charming face. "Hello Stranger." He grinned, leaning up against the counter.

Hearing that familiar tone and voice, Emma turned quickly nearly falling onto her butt. She saw Will leaned against the counter smirking as she shook her head. "Of course, you're still here." Emma retorted giving a light smile. "Stranger isn't a word i'd use with your ex-fiance." Emma smiled softly. "Guess i'll be seeing you around, Will." She told him softly heading for the exit.

Will smirked a little at her witty comment. That was always like her to correct him on things. It was actually one of the things that he found adorable about her. However, he wasn't planning to tell her that now...especially since it had been so long since they last saw one another. Taking a quick second to check her out, seeing that not much changed about her, Will started to mentally scold himself. Reminding himself that he needed to not get looped into the past. When he heard Emma tell him that she would be seeing him around, Will just nodded. "Of course...Emma." He grinned, watching her head towards the exit.

Emma grinned back at him. She walked out and headed to her dad's house where she'd be staying for a while till she got fully going with Chicago Med. Once she got done with everything she sat down and sighed. She wondered many times what it'd be like to still be with Will, and together. Sighing to herself, she didn't want to get involved with the past, but she couldn't help herself when it came to Will anymore.

Will went about his day. His mind would occasionally go back to Emma. He was really surprised to see her, but he was also really glad that he had the chance to see her. When he would have those random thought moments about Emma, Will couldn't help but wonder how things would have been if the two of them would have stayed together. For starters, he knew that they would be married by now...hell, they would probably even have a kid on the way or something. Shaking his mind from those thoughts, the young doctor proceeded about the rest of his busy day at Chicago Med. There was no way he would jump back into the past, however, there was some things that he couldn't help but think about past things. When he finished his sift for the day, Will went to gather his belongings before heading out to the hospital's parking garage to get into his car.

Will nodded to Emma's father, knowing that things were still a little awkward between them. He knew that ending the engagement with Emma was probably the worst thing to do and her father would be sure to remind him of that. Saying nothing to the older man, Will walked inside the hospital with Emma. "Good Morning." He said with a charming smile. "How are you this morning?" He asked softly.

Emma looked at Will and smiled, "I'm good." Emma smiled at Will. "How are you?" Emma questioned walking alongside her ex as she smiled at him.

Will smiled at Emma. He liked that fact that they could carry a conversation like two civil human beings. "I am doing well, thank you for asking." He smiled as he looked at her. "How are you doing?" He questioned her as he walked down the hall with her.

Emma glanced at Will walking with him shrugging her shoulders, "I'm good, thanks for asking Will." Emma told him softly and smiled as she removed her coat and put her things in the locker the Chief had assigned. It also happened to be right beside of Will. Pushing her locker door up she locked it and walked out going to do what she had to do.

Will almost wanted to bust out laughing at the irony that Emma was next to his locker. Of course that would be the case. He just shook his head to himself. He didn’t say a single word, just gathered his belongings, but he secretly kept an eye on Emma. He didn’t say anything just walked out of the room, proceeding with the tasks at hand.

Throughout the day, Emma kept glancing at Will each chance she got. She bit her lip wondering. She walked over to him when she was freed up. Staring at him a second she cleared her throat, "Got a minute, if so can we talk in private?" Emma questioned Will.

When Emma walked up to Will, asking if they could talk in private. “Of course.” He said. He finished up what he was jotting down some things. He then closed the chart folder, handing it the nurse there with him. He started walking into a private room. “What’s up?” He asked softly, being sincere.

Emma ran a hand through her hair and turned to look at him. "Do you ever think about us? Where we would be? Or if we started all over if we ever saw one another?" Emma questioned crossing her arms over her chest.

Will was a little shocked by this, but he knew he couldn’t lie to her. He looked to her, blinking at her. “I do think about us.” He said, being truthful. “I sometimes wonder what things would be like if her started over.”

Emma saw the shocked look on his face, "I...I didn't mean to shock you." She whispered. "When I got offered this job, dad said you'd left Chicago. So yesterday was a shock seeing you. I am glad that I did." She whispered smiling softly.

Will looked at her, “What do you say we go to dinner some time soon?” He asked as he looked to her. He smiled softly as he waited for her reaction and response. He wanted to see where they could go with this.
