“It was alright, I didn’t do too much,” George said as they walked. “I certainly didn’t go through any life changes, but you look great, Vanessa,” he told her. He was used to people whispering, but for some reason the popular kids were the ones doing it, which was new. They normally didn’t give them the time of day.

Vanessa blushed. “Thank you, George.” She said softly. She stopped whenever one of the cheerleaders came up to them. “Vanessa, I heard the craziest rumor.” She said. “What was it?” Vanessa asked. “That you slept with Nicholas Parsons over the summer...that’s what he said but personally I don’t think it’s true, you’re too ugly for anyone to sleep with.” She laughed before shoving past her.

Vanessa sighed, trying not to let it bother her as much as it did. “Man, I can not wait to graduate.” She said to George.

George rolled his eyes as she walked away, “It can’t happen fast enough.” He looked at her, “I’m pretty sure she’s only saying that shit because she feels threatened by you.” It was true, since Vanessa changed in looks, he was almost certain someone would be hitting on her eventually.

Vanessa smiled. “Thanks George, I’m sure this day will go swimmingly.” She said as she looked up at him. “I’ll try not to bug you guys so much with protecting me, I know it can be a pain.” She said. She didn’t want to intrude on her friends.

“Oh don’t worry about it, you know better than that V,” George smiled over at her. “Honestly, we like it and you’re our friend, Nothing is going to change that and we’d never forgive ourselves if something happened and we weren’t there to help,” he told her.

Vanessa smiled, “thank you, again, George.” She said. The bell was about to ring for class to start, “I guess I should let you go before you’re late. I’ll see you later.” She said, giving him a small wave before heading inside.

“One of the guys or me will be here when you get out,” George said as he waved and walked off to his class.

Vanessa nodded and headed into class. She sat down in one of the seats and kept her head down to avoid any drama.

Jorel had his first class with George and Jordon so he looked up when George came in. “Vanessa make it to class okay?” He asked him.

George nodded as he sat down next to Jorel, “Yeah, besides one of the cheerleaders telling her there’s some rumor going around about her sleeping with Nick Parsons.”

“Wow, they’re already starting shit with her?” Jorel said, shaking his head. Jordon looked at him, “I don’t know why people pick on her, she’s literally the sweetest girl I know, even Camilla isn’t that sweet.” He said. “Jordon’s right...she really is the sweetest girl ever, she doesn’t deserve all the shit she goes through.” He sighed.

“Of course they are, now they see she lost the baby weight and they’re trying to make her feel more insecure,” George said softly. “She really doesn’t deserve any of that, I don’t get why they can’t just back off.” He felt really bad about Vanessa being bullied all the time, “I just have this feeling that it’s only going to get worse...”

“Oh it will, it always does,” Jordon said, cracking his knuckles, “but hey, I don’t have a problem spending another night in jail if I have to beat the shit out of some of these assholes.” He said. “When did that happen?” Jorel asked. “Last year over spring break. You were out of town with Hazel. A couple of the jocks were harassing V at the skatepark and Dylan and I were already there so we beat their asses.” Jordon said.

George nodded, “And I was the phone call they both decided to make.” He laughed, “I just feel bad that we hardly have any classes with her or anything like that, ya know?” He looked around, “Its too bad none of the girls are good friends with her, then maybe they’d help us out a little.”

“Well Hazel is the only one who actually trusts her, the rest of them think she’s trying to hook up with us.” Jorel said. “Ain’t that for damn sure. Camilla and I got into another fight about that the other day.” Jordon sighed.

George sighed, “Amber’s the same way.” He looked at Jorel, “Do you think Hazel would actually talk to her and be friends with her?” He asked, “Maybe if she did, she’d be able to talk some sense into the other girls.”

“I can ask her. I don’t see why she wouldn’t.” Jorel said and pulled his phone out. Meet me by my locker after class. I wanna talk to you about something. he texted Hazel.

“Thanks Jorel,” George said, he knew the rest of the guys were worried about Vanessa like he was so it would be great to have Hazel there with her.

Hearing the bell, he got up, “Gotta go meet Vanessa.” He took off out the door and made it to her class before she walked out, seeing her walk out, he smiled, “Hey.”

Hazel looked at her phone. Okay, some thing important? See you there. She replied to him, sliding her phone back in her pocket as she talked with the other girls in her class before the bell rang and she walked to Jorel’s locker.

Vanessa’s first hour had been hell. She knew it would be since none of the guys were in her class, she was lucky to have Dylan and George in a class but it was the last class of the day. Other then that, she wouldn’t see them expect at lunch. The guy that sat behind her had been snapping her bra strap the whole time and now her back was hurting. One of the kids had tripped her, causing her to fall and she hit her face on the floor, which was still hurting and a bruise was already forming on her cheek.

“Hey..” Vanessa said, not looking at George.

Jorel headed to his locker and smiled when Hazel walked up. “Hi baby.” He said, kissing her. “So...it’s nothing bad...we just...we’re worried about Vanessa. She doesn’t have a lot of classes with us this year and I know you have gym and at least two classes with her...it would really mean a lot if you could watch out for her?” He said.

(So I was thinking what if Hazel isn’t happy about it but agrees to please Jorel...but during gym the other girls start picking on her and Hazel joins in on it?)

Hazel raised an eyebrow, “You want me to be watch out for her?” She sighed “I can do that. I have gym with her next so I can do that.” She knew it was a big deal to him and the others, but she didn’t want to be a babysitter.

Hearing the warning bell, she kissed his cheek before finding Vanessa with George, “Ready for gym?” She asked her, smiling.

“What happened?” George asked, turning her face so he could see he bruise starting. “Who did that?” He was beyond pissed that people were already being so terrible to her.

Seeing Hazel come up, he felt relieved, “See? You’ll be fine with Hazel now.” He smiled.

“Some of the kids in my first hour...they tripped me...I’m just clumsy and hit my face on the way down.” Vanessa said and looked at Hazel. “Yeah...bye George.” She waved at him before walking with Hazel.

“Thank you for being for me.” Vanessa told her as they walked to the girls locker room. She avoided the glances of the other girls, including Amber who was glaring at her.

Jorel met up with George before his next class. “Did Hazel find Vanessa? They have gym next and she said she would look out for her.”
