Jordan, for the most part, was making sure to keep an eye on the time. He had enough time to get a coffee and relax for a little while before he’d have to get back to patrolling for the day, and he was mostly looking forward to the time he’d get to himself. Things were constantly intense in Beacon Hills and danger never seemed too far away, but things were okay for now, and he’d learned to take the good, peaceful times while they could, before the next problem arose. He’d let himself enjoy the peace he could before things got bad again, though he’d also make sure to still maintain his serious devotion to his job as a police officer. He loved helping people, after all, and being able to save people. He liked being able to
protect people. A part of him wondered if that had to do with him being a hellhound or if it was just who he was. Either way, he didn’t plan on changing it about himself - it was a trait that had always been with him, a part of him.
He’d been looking down at the time again while he walked, distracted, only to blink when he felt somebody bump into him. His arms instinctively reached out as he grasped the young woman’s shoulders to steady her. “I’m so sorry, I wasn’t paying attention,” he quickly said, looking her over, though her paused when he realized she had coffee in her hands. “Oh, no, I didn’t make you spill the coffee, did I?” he asked with concern, worried about it burning her if he had - after all, the coffee would have been scalding hot, and he knew how much that could hurt for humans, even if it wouldn’t really bother him much. But, before he could get too lost in his concern, his eyes caught a better look at the woman when he’d lifted his gaze to look her over better, worried for her, and his worry turned into something else completely. She was gorgeous, after all, and it wasn’t hard to notice or acknowledge as much.
For a long moment, he found himself trying to understand how somebody could be as beautiful as she was, but then he realized his hands were still on her shoulders from when he’d tried to steady her and he cleared his throat, dropping his hands. “I really am sorry - I should have been paying more attention. I was just… Looking at the time, really,” he told her honestly, disappointed in himself but more so concerned for her, “Are you okay?”
Eva hadn’t really been sure what to think when Rosa had first announced that they’d be moving to a town called Beacon Hills. She hadn’t really minded the move overall - she wasn’t really close to anybody back home, usually finding it difficult to open up to people aside from Rosa and it had tended to cause tension with any friends she’d made. But, it’d still been a little off-putting to move to an entirely new town, because, then, she had to get used to the small size of the town compared to home, and get used to the format of the school, and the new class schedule she now had. For the most part, she hadn’t taken notice of anything throughout the day so far, mostly trying to adapt to her new surroundings, and she had her class schedule out while she sat at her lunch table, mentally running over it to try to memorize where each room should be after lunch, so she wouldn’t have any major troubles.
Hearing a voice, though, she blinked, lifting her gaze to the source, surprised to find somebody actually trying to talk to her - and, for a moment, she almost thought that maybe he wasn’t actually talking to her, but maybe somebody behind her, but his attention was on her and she felt a nervousness she didn’t recognize bubble up in her. In that moment, she wished Rosa was there, certain her sister would have been a great buffer for any stupid things that might pass Eva’s own lips. Clearing her throat, she offered a small smile and nodded. “Oh, I wasn’t really… Paying attention in the classes, so I’ll take your word for it,” she said, doing her best to not seem rude, since she honestly hadn’t noticed the guy throughout the day so far. She’d been trying to adapt, after all, and she didn’t want to seem like a complete jerk to this guy. More of a reason to wish Rosa was there.
“But, uh, hi, Liam,” she told him as she watched him, her gaze running over her features. With a better look at him, it was no wonder there’d been a sudden nervousness that she hadn’t understood. He was pretty cute, after all - something she definitely wouldn’t be admitting out loud, but she’d definitely acknowledge it mentally, to herself. “I’m Eva.” She watched him for a moment before she shifted, holding her hand out. “It’s nice to meet you.”
