(Since Theo’s talking to Scott, I’ll put his post first for flow)
Overall, Theo had come a long way from who he once had been. He’d caused a lot of damage to those around him and he was doing everything he could to rectify that, to make up for all the pain he’d caused, and all the horrible things he’d done. He was working hard to prove that he deserved a second chance, trying to maintain the trust that the pack had begun to place in him. The fact that they were placing any trust in him at all after everything he’d done still caught him by surprise, but it was relieving, too. They were willing to give him a chance to prove himself and he was going to every length he could in order to do that, because he didn’t want to ruin things now. He had friends now, a pack, people who trusted him and people he actually found himself trusting, despite everything. He’d found a family and he didn’t want to lose that, especially when he knew he didn’t deserve it in the first place.
When he made his way into the school, he paused for a moment, his brows furrowing when he caught unfamiliar wolf scents. That was odd. He looked around for a moment, trying to narrow down where the scent was coming from, but his attention eventually fell on Scott. Shrugging away his concerns, he made his way over. “Looking forward to another day?” he asked a little jokingly, arching a brow as he watched his somewhat-friend. They weren’t the closest, but Scott had forgiven him and they were working on building up a friendship, which Theo was grateful for. He knew he didn’t deserve it, but Scott was giving him a chance with all of that, too. He’d betrayed them once before, after all, but they were so willing to look past that. They really were a good pack, good people. “Think anything interesting will happen?”
For a moment, he arched a brow, curious to what Scott’s answer might be, but he found his gaze wandering around again in search of the sources of the scents he’d caught when he’d come into the school. It was stuck in the back of his mind, itching at it, so even when he was trying to focus on just talking to his friend, to his Alpha, it still held his attention, prompting him to search the area that he could. Eventually, he couldn’t stay quiet about it anymore, and he looked back to Scott. “I can’t be the only one who smells that, right?” His brows furrowed, curious and confused about what was going on, about who was in the school that he didn’t recognize.
For the most part,
Amelia was trying to ignore how nervous she felt about all of this. She and Harper had been running for so long now that the idea of settling somewhere made her worried that their Alpha would manage to catch up to them if they stayed still for too long. But, she didn’t want to run forever and something about this town was beckoning her to stay. Looking to Harper, she reached to squeeze her sister’s hand after they’d finally managed to get their schedules and she waited until they were out of the office to breathe out with relief. For a few moments, she was worried that their plan wasn’t going to work, but it’d managed to work somehow and now they were completely enrolled in Beacon Hills High School. They were officially high school students and Amelia felt a small amount of freedom with the realization.
“Um, I think that was my idea,” she admitted, making a slight face, though she offered a weak smile to her sister as they walked to their lockers and she worked on trying to learn how to open it. She’d never been in an actual school, after all - their Alpha had kept them on homeschool. It was another reason Amelia had wanted this. She’d wanted to pretend that she was a normal teenager for a little while, even if it might not last. “But I don’t remember you offering many reasons as to why we shouldn’t do it, so… I think you were thinking it, too.” She grinned teasingly, though she personally wasn’t really sure what had been going on in Harper’s mind when Amelia had first brought up the idea, once they’d decided that they would stay. Of course, the only real reason they were even staying was because neither of them really felt like they could leave.
At the same time, though, she knew they probably should have kept running, either way. With how abusive their Alpha was, and the fact that they’d witness so many kids die from the bite, she was sure that, if he caught up to them, they wouldn’t survive - or they’d go through much worse than they’d ever been through. For a moment, she could feel the thoughts getting to her, causing her to worry more than she should, and she cleared her throat to push the thoughts away and tried to focus on opening the locker. “Any idea how many classes we have together?”
