Amnesia was quiet for moments after Jonathan spoke, almost as if she were questioning herself. In truth though, she knew she was right. She could feel it in the pit of her stomach. He and Kadrin both were horrible, and she couldn't imagine anything either of them could ever do would make her be nice to them.
"I just know what you deserve from me, and it isn't anything nice," she finally said, and the fire in her middle agreed completely. Never had she ever disliked another being as wholeheartedly as she did the two demons, and there was a good reason for it. She wasn't the sort who just disliked others or was rude. It never occurred to her to be that way until after they'd acted in a certain way first. She could try to put words to the exact things that made her the way she was with them, and there were reasons, especially with Jonathan, but ultimately, it was also her gut feeling. And that feeling, especially at this moment, was a very bad one.
Then she was backing away from James so she wouldn't hurt him, and Jonathan was... She gave the demon a distrustful look, clearly not wanting to believe him and take the chance, and rather than reply, she simply kept her distance. Yet, while she didn't exactly appear to be calming down, she no longer seemed to be getting continuously angrier.
Jonathan spoke after Khal let James go and the boy went to Amnesia without any arguments, the angel's eyes returning to the demon, who he knew would have heard what he said. "I already thought of that, but if you were really determined, you'd find a way to follow, no matter who left with her." Not only that... Khal still suspected that Jonathan would actually stay, and even if he didn't, at least Amnesia wouldn't accidentally set James' apartment on fire. It seemed this was confirmed when he requested a chair though. Apparently he'd be satisfied with trying to upset others...
When James tried to reach for her again, Amnesia instinctually pulled back, and even after he held his hand out to her, her eyes flickered towards Jonathan, surrounded by weapons and holding his hands up still, before they settled back on James. "You can't just leave though. This is your home."
And then she heard a voice she'd almost forgotten about--and felt guilty for it--with everything else going on. When she turned though, Equinox no longer looked curled up in himself and scared, having sat up, and actually looked like he was talking to Dusk. Neither Jonathan nor Amaryllis had given him any attention so far, but the thought of leaving her brother with the demon was not one she was willing to entertain.
"I'll be fine. I'm not leaving. I just need a few more minutes to calm down," she finally said to James, her arms were wrapped around themselves as she spoke, almost as if she were physically preventing herself from reaching out to him.
