Grim as Ever.

Morgana and Nikki walked through their new hometown, Havenport, trying to get familiar with their new surroundings. Havenport was a coastal, fishing town that seemed to be a lot quieter than their old one. The town was gloomy and always had an overcast, Morgana had even been expecting rain as she held a closed umbrella in one hand, letting the tip of it drag along the sidewalk. One thing she liked a lot about the town was that besides near the coast, the town was very woodsy. Currently, they were passing a park, and next to it, was a long, windy driveway, guarded by a creepy, antique black gate. One each side of the gate was black cobblestone columns. Morgana stopped and propped her umbrella up next to the cobblestone, looking along the iron spiked top fence.

"Isn't this where that rich family lives?" Morgana asked her sister, recalling how their parents had told them the town was basically ran alone by a family of brothers. Apparently, they owned all of the largest fisheries on this side of the state. She bent down to pull up her thigh high sock that was falling down her calf, not noticing the shiny Maserati Quattroporte rolling up next to where they stood.

Brian pressed his tongue to his top lip as he held the steering wheel tight in his left hand. He came around the bend, passing the small park that was placed next to their home and focused his gaze when he saw two young women stopped in front of his gate. "I wonder what this is." Brian spoke, not really to anyone, even though Matt sat in the passenger side next to him. He eyed the girls up as he parked the car on the curb behind them, and rolled Matt's window down. "Are you ladies lost?" Brian called from across Matt, sliding his sunglasses down to take a better look at the women. They were both pale, dark haired girls. The one with longer hair was a bit taller than the other, and he couldn't help but think about how they both were rather attractive.

He also couldn't help to think how he had never seen these two girls before, and seeing as how Havenport was a very small town, that was odd. Brian decided to get out of the car, locking the door as he shut it. He walked around to meet the girls on the sidewalk, crossing his arms over his chest before letting a smile slip up onto his mouth. "I haven't seen you girls around here before." He looked over his shoulder as he heard Matt get out, too. "My name is Brian, this is my brother, Matt." Matt wasn't really his brother, but that's what the whole town thought, and they might as well be after all they had been through together.

Nikki took in the sights as they walked, it seemed to be a pretty laid back town from what she had seen so far. Turning her attention to her sister when she mentioned the rich family, seeing the gate she agreed, “It must be, looks like the beginning to a big fancy house.”

She was slightly surprised to see the two guys get out of the car, her attention immediately went to the one with longer black hair and dark brown eyes. “I’m Nichole and this is my sister, Morgana, we just moved to town so we decided we to look around...”

Matt hadn’t been paying too much attention as Brian drove, but when he pulled over by the two girls walking, Matt followed Brian as he got out. He listened as Brian introduced them and the first girl, Nichole, introduced herself and Morgana.

“Just moved here huh? Any specific reason why?” Matt asked curiously, it wasn’t very often that people moved to their town.

Morgana watched as the second man appeared from inside the car. He wasn't type she would imagine to own a whole town. He had a Mohawk that fell down to almost his shoulders and a black tshirt on that showed off how many tattoos covered his arms. He was very handsome.

"Our father got a job offer from the fishery here in town." She didn't want to presume she knew they owned it. She stepped a bit closer to Nichole, Morgana was always very apprehensive in new situations.

Brian smiled and rubbed his hands together. "So we're out exploring, huh?" He smiled and leaned on the hood of his car. "We could always be your hosts." Brian offered, stuffing his hands in his jacket pocket. There was always a nice interest when new people came around, especially pretty young girls.

"How old are you girls?" He asked, looking over towards the entrance of the woods. Brian had been in a hurry to get home, a full moon was supposed to arrive tonight. They had a few more hours before night fell, though, so Brian was sure it would be okay to play around with these girls.

Nikki nodded slightly, “I guess we are.” She couldn’t put her finger on it, but when he offered to show them around, she was hesitant. Of course, if these two really were the ones that owned the town, maybe they’d be the best ones to show them around.

“I just turned twenty,” Nichole told him. “Is there anything interesting around here?” She asked, hoping she wouldn’t come off as rude, but she was curious of what else the town had to offer.

Hearing Brian off to host the girls, Matt’s eyes widened slightly. He wondered if Brian had been so distracted by his curiosity of these girls that he would risk cutting it so close to the full moon.

Matt was partially hoping she would turn down Brian’s offer, but hearing her ask about Havenport, he knew better. He was just hoping they’d be home before the full moon.

Morgana frowned, watching as Nikki seemed more eager than her to just follow these two around. Even though they may own the town, they still didn't look like the most trust worthy people. But if Nikki went, Morgana had to follow. "I'm twenty-one." Morgana chimed in, watching the quieter two of the men the more closely.

Upon hearing that his brother wanted to give us a tour, she could see the mans eyebrows shoot up just a little, she couldn't see his eyes behind his sunglasses but she could tell he wasnt the most thrilled at the idea.

Brian nodded, "Of course we have some tourists attractions, don't we, Matt?" He smiled. "Downtown is a movie theatre, an arcade, some shops and a handful of restaurants. Other than that though, there's nothing much more, but if you ladies would like to go see, we could give you a ride." He smirked, patting the top of his matte black maserati.

Nikki almost couldn’t help herself as she agreed to take Brian up on his offer, “That sounds great.” She was letting her curiosity get the best of her, and she knew Morgana wouldn’t let her forget it when they were alone again.

“I mean, as long as it’s not an inconvenience for you...” she added quickly, wanting to test the waters with this guy. There seemed to be a voice inside her head telling her to just drop it and walk away, but she couldn’t.

Leave it to Brian to get excited over the girl, of course he’d go along with it, but he didn’t like the risk of the full moon. Glancing at Morgana, he almost smirked, seeing that she had kept her eyes on him.

“I think if we’re going to show these ladies around, we should get going before it’s dark and there’s nothing to see,” Matt suggested.

Morgana shut her eyes tightly for a moment and bit her tongue, feeling the pit in her stomach get worse upon hearing both of the men up to showing them downtown. She opened her eyes again, seeing Brian already taking Morgana by the hand and opening the back door of his car for her. She sighed, 'As long as we both stay together, we'll be fine.' Morgana told herself, and besides, a small part of Morgana was tired of always being a scaredy-cat. She could learn a thing or two from Nikki and start taking a few risks.

She walked up to the side of the car that Matt was standing next to and she could feel the hairs on the back of her neck stand up the closer she got to him.

Brian almost couldn't stop himself from laughing at Matt, "Of course. We'll have you ladies home before dark." He held his hand out to Nikki, taking hers almost before she had the time to accept it. He guided her off of the sidewalk, smelling the perfume she wore waft up to his nose. It smelled fresh and of flowers. He opened the backdoor of the car up for her and helped her inside.

Nikki felt just a little uneasy as Brian took her to the other side of the car, but it wasn’t enough to make her change her mind. Once they were both in the back seat, she shot her sister an apologetic smile, knowing this was completely out of her comfort zone.

She had always been willing to go out on a limb and take chances, almost as though she had no fear. The truth was, very few things really scared her, and she was always looking for adventure.

Matt watched as Brian took Nikki and let her in, he opened the door for Morgana, watching as he could sense that she was uncomfortable with the whole situation. After she got in, Matt shut the door and proceeded to get in the front.

Morgana looked over at her sister and tried to force a smile, but her stomach twisting in knots made it hard to fake. She watched as Brian started the car and pulled away from the sidewalk, driving towards downtown. She told herself she might as well try to have a good time now, as there was no turning back.

Once they got into downtown, Morgana looked through the window seeing more people walking along the streets now than she had the whole time she had been here.

Brian drove into downtown Havenport, passing a few bars, restaurants and shops. The movie theatre was playing an old classic werewolf movie and Brian almost couldn't hold in a snicker.

"Are you ladies hungry?" Brian said, parallel parking on the side of the street next to a bar and grill. It was in a red brick two story building, lights were strung up around their windows and music could be heard from inside. "This is the best place to eat in downtown." He got out of the car and opened the door for Nikki.

Nichole watched as Brian drove, there didn’t seem to be too much going on, but there were more people out and about than before. She was used to the slight uncertainty she was feeling, but brushed it off.

“I could go for something to eat,” she said, glancing over at Morgana. After Brian opened the door, she got out and smiled softly at him as she followed him inside.

Matt sighed softly as he got out and opened the door for Morgana. He could tell she was uncomfortable, and he almost wanted to apologize for Brian being so forward. It wasn’t surprising to him that Brian was out to entertain the new lady in town.

Shaking his head slightly, he turned his attention to her, “It really is the best place to eat in town.” He told her, hoping to lighten the mood a little.

Brian smiled and helped Nichole out of the car, shutting it behind her and then leading her into the restaurant, walking a lot faster than Matt. He basically left him outside. He opened the door and let Nichole enter first. Inside the restaurant, there were nice wooden tables to the left, and the bar was back against the wall to the right. More light bulbs hung down from the ceiling and soft rock played through out the joint.

"They have something here for everyone." He assured her, leading himself through the crowd to a table and pulling out her chair for her. There had never been a girl this pretty move to Havenport and stay, so of course Brian was trying to put the best foot forward.

Morgana watched, her eyes going a little wide as Brian led Nikki into the restaurant and they disappeared inside. She didn't like the idea of being alone with this strange man, but here she was anyways. She looked up at him when he spoke to her and she forced a small smile on her face. "It smells good." She nodded, already being able to smell the food that was cooking inside. She rubbed her arm, looking down at her outfit, wishing she would've worn something a little more low key. She felt like she stood out a lot more here.

Nikki smiled, looking around and taking in the restaurant. It was beautiful, for such a little place she already loved the atmosphere. Fixing her skirt, she sat down, thanking Brian for pulling out her chair. She took a minute to look over the menu, “They have a lot, it’s hard to choose.”

Seeing Matt walk in with Morgana, she felt a little guilty for leaving her sister with a stranger. When the waitress cane, she ordered a lemonade for herself before going back to deciding what she wanted to eat.

Matt watched as Morgana walked inside the restaurant, she was beautiful, but Matt wasn’t going to get himself into anything or attached to her. Seeing Brian already at a table, he lead Morgana over to them and pulled the chair out for her before taking his seat.

Brian smiled, barely looking up as Matt sat down next to him. He knew Matt wouldn't mind. "Well, all the fish is very fresh." He laughed, not opening his menu. He always got a steak. He ordered himself a beer and leaned forward. "Don't worry about the price, I have it covered." He smirked. Brian liked to impress people.

Morgana picked up her menu and chewed her lip as she looked through it. "What would you like to drink?" The waitress asked her and she quickly glanced over the drink menu. She knew she'd need some liquid confidence to get through this night. "I'll take a mint julep." She looked up at the waitressing and smiled. The waitress looked at Matt and took his drink order before hurrying away.

Nikki nodded as he mentioned the fish, to be honest she wasn’t a huge fan, but she figured it wouldn’t hurt to try it. She ordered the fish dinner and took a drink of her lemonade. Hearing that Brian would cover it, she smiled, “That’s nice of you.”

Matt ordered himself a beer and steak just like Brian, knowing that they’d cover the bill. He was hoping the girls would enjoy themselves, after all they wanted them to like it here.

Morgana watched as Brian and Nichole chatted, looking back to Matt wishing she wasn't so shy. She chewed on the inside of her cheek and thanked the waitress when she brought them their drinks. She ordered chicken alfredo and watched the waitress leave again after taking the boys orders.

"So." Morgana chimed in, twisting her glass around on the table. She was a little nervous, like herself, it didn't seem like Matt really wanted to be here. "I hope this isn't getting in the way of any plans you had tonight." She blushed.

Brian leaned on the table, resting his head on his hand. "So fresh twenty." Brian smiled, "Are you heading to college or...?" He picked up his beer and took a long drink. "What're your plans?" Brian wanted to get to know her. After all, he didn't plan on just this one dinner date. Hopefully next time they could be alone. It might seem forward, but no girl in this town had ever caught his eye before.

“I just finished my first year of college actually, I’m on break and won’t be going back for a few months yet...” Nikki told him, she wasn’t sure why, but she wanted to get to know Brian. She laughed softly, “To he totally honest, I’m just doing my basic core classes until I figure out what I want to major in.” She knew it sounded pathetic, but she didn’t want to just pick a random major or something she didn’t have interest in. “But, what about you?” She asked curiously, wanting to know about him.

Matt felt bad that he was acting as though he didn’t want to be there, “Oh, no. We didn’t have anything planned tonight.” He laughed softly, “I’m sorry if I’m giving the wrong impression, I just didn’t expect Brian to do this.” He gave her a smile, “So, you’re twenty one, right? Do you have plans or anything like that?” He asked.

Brian lifted his beer up to his lips and took a drink as he listened to her. "That's a good idea." Brian nodded, "Smart of you." He smiled and sat his beer back down. "I just make sure the fisheries in this town run smoothly, make sure the town brings in money. So, I have a lot of free time most of the time. Nothing really ever goes wrong in this town." Brian chuckled.

He moved his elbows off the table when the waitress came back with his steak and Nichole's fish dinner. Brian was being truthful, it had been his father's grand father that actually founded this town and it had been then that the fisheries were built. The men who worked in them knew their jobs in and out, because it was the same thing for them, their fathers had worked in them before they had. So it always ran smoothly, he didn't have to go down there much.

Morgana couldn't help but chuckle as her chicken alfredo was sat down in front of her. "Well, I didn't expect to meet you on our walk either, but I guess surprising things happen all the time." She smiled, relaxing a little. Morgana chewed on the inside of her lip, feeling a little embarrassed at his question, since she couldn't say she was in college like her sister. "Actually, no. I never enrolled in college. Back where we used to live, I used to give guitar lessons on the weekends, and during the week I just worked at a pet store." She laughed, "Glamorous." She made fun of herself.

Nikki nodded as she ate some of her food once it came. She smiled slightly, “Thank you. Honestly, if I can’t decide on something, I might not go back once I finish the basic stuff.” Nichole listened as he talked about his business, hearing him mention a lot of free time, “What do you do with your free time?” She was hoping she wasn’t asking too many questions, but she was curious.

“That’s for sure,” Matt laughed softly. He noticed a slight change in her facial expression at his question, “Really? That’s cool.” He had been so used to hearing the same story so it was nice to hear something different. “I play a little guitar and piano...” he told her.
