Luca had broken up with Jaycee just over a month and a half ago, and he had miserable everyday since. He beat himself up over it constantly, he hated himself for leaving the best woman he ever had, but he had done it to protect her. Her family had been threatening to take away everything she had and would receive in wills and trust funds. He was also actively involved in gang activity which could endanger her, but it was his life, his family was the Italian mafia. Luca told himself he wasn't going to go by her house again, he knew that was a lie. As he headed out to the car he tried to convince himself otherwise, but the moment the car was started there was no way to stop himself. He drove from his small apartment, to her decent-sized, nice, house in the rich part of town. Her parents had bought it for her and hated whenever he had stayed over there, but he preferred her house to his apartment. Luca knew he wasn't welcome in this part of town. His car was well known, it had a Vipers symbol painted into it and was the stereotypical mustang of a gang boy.

He pulled up across the street from Jaycee's house, taking a few deep breaths. Luca didn't want to go and ask how she was, he was just getting himself mentally prepared to leave. He didn't want her hurt or to ruin her life. Luca let out a heavy sigh as he slipped from the car and headed to her door. I shouldn't be doing this. He thought to himself. Standing in front of Jaycee’s door he wasn't sure what his next move would, or should, be.
Luca looked down at his feet and sighed heavily. He looked pretty pathetic for a gang leader. Here he was, one of the most powerful men in New York,on the streets. And he was groveling on a girls doorsteps. Her family had constantly tried to drive a wedge between the couple, mainly her father. They told her that Luca was an uneducated dog, one too many times had Luca and her father had screaming matches at her house that lead to both storming out. Luca didn't want to hurt Jaycee anymore, so he left. He made up bullshit excuses and cut himself off because he couldn't hurt her anymore, she meant the world to him, and he wanted her life to be great.

Jaycee sat in her living room, her fleece blanket wrapped around her as she sat in silence. Nothing had been going right lately, Luca left her, she knew he was always worried about her safety. She was in love with him, the fact that her parents didn’t approve of their relationship never bothered her. The house she had loved and felt so happy in, just felt cold and lonely since Luca wasn’t part of her life anymore. Getting up from the couch, she walked past the entry way of her home to the kitchen to get herself a glass of water. Drinking her water, she stopped and looked at the stack of paperwork on the counter. On the very top was an ultrasound picture, eight weeks and three days, she was eight weeks along and had only found out a few days ago.

Shaking her head, she turned and walked away from the counter, not wanting to think about the life growing inside her. Jaycee stopped at the front door, she could see a very faint outline through the foggy glass window and it stopped her in her tracks. Was it Luca? Did he come to check up on her after so long? Was it someone else that didn’t know the two were no longer together that wanted to use her to get back at Luca? She hesitated before going over and slowly unlocking the door, her curiosity getting the best of her. A small voice in her mind was screaming at her to lock the door back up and walk away, but she couldn’t. Slowly opening the door, her heart began to race as she saw him, “Luca...what are you doing here?”

Luca jumped as the door opened in front of him. His eyes wide and mouth left agape. He really didn’t think that she was going to answer, did he even knock? He didn’t think he had. Luca swallowed hard as he looked down at Jaycee. He couldn’t come up with the words he desperately wanted to say, most of which were I love you. He shook his head and let out a deep sigh before finally looking into her eyes. “I fucking love you Jaycee.” He said, his voice barely above a whisper. Luca was never like this. He was a big, tough, bad boy. He didn’t get feelings, or act scared, or weak in any sense. He was supposed to be ruthless and cold. Yet, here he was. All the things he told himself he would never be, just because of the girl in front of him. Luca reaches out and took one of her hands in his and gave it a squeeze. “And I miss you like crazy.” He whispered again, his eyes shifting to the floor between their feet. Luca couldn’t compose himself, and he hated it. He knew she didn’t mind him being soft and emotional, but he did. It was a way to distract him or ruin him with the line of work he was in.

Luca looked up again and into Jaycee’s eyes. He had been crying, something he didn’t do often. He had never cried in front of Jaycee, even though they had been together for almost a year when he left her. Luca ran a hand through his hair and shifted his feet before he stood straight and tried to compose himself. Or at least try and make himself look composed. “I’m sorry, I shouldn’t have come. I wasn’t thinking. I was heading by to go to the shipyard.” Luca began to make excuses, but he knew that Jaycee would probably see right through them. She knew him well enough, he thought anyways. Luca glances at his watch then looked inside her house, just making sure no one else was in there. He hadn’t seen her parents car but he didn’t know. He also knew they seemed to keep tabs on Luca and Jaycee because they always knew when the couple was staying together. His eyebrows furrowed as he thought about her father. Luca hates that man. He hated their constant fights. And he hated that he was the reason, or one of, that made Luca decide Jaycee was better off without him.

Hearing his words, Jaycee looked at him, “I love you too, that won’t ever change...” She wasn’t used to seeing him so, broken? She was used to his walls and understood that he needed them for his lifestyle, but when it was just the two of them, he showed his real feelings. “I missed you so much, Luca,” She was starting to debate if she should tell him what was going on or if she should keep it to herself. Everything about him was slightly off, his eyes were red from crying and that was something new for her. Jaycee hesitated before pulling him into the house by his hand and shutting the door behind them.

“Luca, there’s something I need to tell you...” Jaycee’s heart was racing, she didn’t know what he would do or say when she showed him the picture. She had to tell him, the baby was Luca’s after all. Leading him into the kitchen, she picked up the picture and held it for a moment before turning and handing it to him. “I just found out a few days ago...” she said softly.

Luca was more than relieved when Jaycee told him that she loved him and missed him. He wanted nothing more than to kiss her right then and there. He wanted to tell her it was a mistake and he wanted to be with her, only her, and fuck her family because they could be each other’s family. Luca shoves his hands into his pockets as he looked at her. “You don’t know how happy I am to hear the feeling is mutual.” He murmured and tried to give her a smile. “I’ve been so miserable without you.” He said and paused. When she pulled him in he was also relieved. He was glad he didn’t have to stand outside anymore and possibly be seen. “Tell me?” He said nervously. Luca was worried and he could tell how nervous it was making her, which heightened his nervousness. Luca took the picture and his eyes widen, mouth dropping again.

Luca couldn’t believe what he was seeing. “You’re..” he paused and held the picture closer to him, running his thumb over the picture. “We’re having a kid?” He said and looked at her. He was shocked, terrified. But he would do anything for her, and he would be a great father he promised himself that. “How far along are you?” He asked and swallowed hard. “You wanna keep it?” He asked more nervously, he didn’t want to lose her and lose the child. Luca put his free hand on her hip and pulled Jaycee to him. He kissed her forehead and let out a breathe. “I made a mistake losing you.”

“Of course, I’ve been miserable without you too. This place doesn’t feel like home without you being around...” Jaycee told him, looking down as he looked at the picture. She looked up at him, “We are...” Part of her was afraid that he was going to freak out, but she needed to go for it and tell him. “I’m a little over eight weeks along,” Jaycee said softly, running a hand through her hair.

Once he asked if she wanted to keep it, she nodded quickly, “I do, I thought the baby was all I’d have left of you, nothing can change my mind.” Feeling him pull her close, she smiled, resting her head against his chest and just taking in his scent. After over a month of not seeing him, she had missed the way she felt with him, “Don’t leave me again, please?” She said quietly.

Luca nodded as he listened to her, he hadn’t felt happy or like he was home since he left her. He had just gone through the motions of his day to day gang life and his job. He hadn’t done anything extra, he hadn’t cared about his safety, or anything. Luca held the picture close. He really was excited, but also terrified. He didn’t know how to react. “This is crazy.” He murmured, to her, but also to himself. Luca set the picture down and held Jaycee close to him. “You’ve got me. And we’ve got our baby. I promise you I’m never leaving again. I love you more than anything, and I’m gonna love our baby even more.” His arms tightened around Jaycee, not wanting to ever let go of her again. He rested his head atop hers and stood in silence, enjoying her presence and being with her again. “Your father may actually have me murdered.” He said and pulled away slightly, his arms still loosely around Jaycee.

Luca swallowed hard at the thought of her parents finding out about the pregnancy. He was excited, and Luca wanted to be an amazing dad. But he also knew how much her father despised him. He had threatened Luca plenty of times, not that Luca had ever payed mind to it, because he was the gang leader. Luca knew her father didn’t know they had been having sex. Luca had made a game out of it, he wanted to sleep with Jaycee everywhere in the house, on every surface. Just to spite her father, and they had been doing well before he left. Luca pulled Jaycee close to him again. “Im so excited and I promise to be a great father. But damn that’s gonna be rough with your family and how much they hate me. I can’t imagine your fathers rage or face if he found out we’ve been having sex, let alone I got you pregnant.”

Jaycee didn’t really care what anyone else was going to say, as long as she had Luca and the baby, she was happy. She looked up at him, “Luca, don’t worry about him, he isn’t going to do anything.” She could only believe part of her own words, her father truly hated Luca and he wanted Luca gone. Jaycee had spent most of the last few days just trying to figure out how she was going to tell her parents about her pregnancy. It wasn’t exactly a secret that her father had threatened Luca on multiple occasions.

She couldn’t help smiling slightly as she thought about how they’d had sex just about everywhere in the entire house. “I can handle my family, and I know you’re going to be a great father,” she smiled at him. Jaycee shook her head slightly, “Honestly, if he really didn’t think we were having sex while we were here alone, he’s delusional...” There was no way her father hadn’t known, as much as he had people watching them, he had to know.

Luca raised his eyebrow at her words and shook his head. “Babe I love you, and trust you. But we both know this will literally kill your father. He and his stupid family name bullshit. Oh no you can’t have that cretins baby it will ruin our reputation, he will ruin your life, blah blah blah.” He mocked. “I wouldn’t be surprised if he hired a damn assassin.”Luca said, only truly half joking. Luca grabbed her hand and headed into the living room. He sat on the couch and pulled Jaycee into his lap, just wanting to hold her right now. “How are you, or we, gonna tell the? I mean should that come first? Or should us being back together be first?” He asked, chuckling to himself. “Invite them for dinner. Be like I’ve got a surprise. And I can walk in with the ultrasound picture.” He said, grinning deviously

Luca nodded and shrugged. “I think he probably likes to believe that we never have, but deep down he probably knows. I mean he did hire a private investigator to let him know when I came here. And it’s not like we’re private about the sex life.”He said and grinned again as his lips found her neck. Luca was happy to be back to normal, this was how he was supposed to be living. With the love of his life. He felt so comfortable around her, he could be his real self. “I’m glad you’ll think I’m gonna be a good day, I don’t think anyone else in this world does. I’m too much of a tough guy.” He said and flexed his bicep. “They aren’t wrong though.” Luca said cockily. Luca knew he didn’t have to show off around Jaycee, but he loved too. He didn’t work out just to fight, he liked to intimidate, to impress, to make jealous, and to get looks. He knew Jaycee hated when women looked at him, but he also made sure they knew she was his and he was all hers when they did.

“I know...I’ve been trying to come up with a way to tell them that won’t give my dad a heart attack,” Jaycee sighed softly, knowing it was going to kill him, and if it didn’t, the news that she was back together with Luca would surely seal the deal. Hearing his idea, she couldn’t help laughing quietly, “You’re insane, I don’t think he would know what to do if I did it that way.” Truth be told, she knew he father would flip his lid and be totally irrational when it came to the news of the baby. Jaycee wouldn’t put it past him to hire a hit man and that scared her.

Feeling his lips on her neck, Jaycee bit her lip gently, she had missed Luca’s touch so much. “You are a tough guy, but that just means you’ll be protective of our little family,” she said, knowing he’d always try to protect them.

Luca nodded. “I get that. I still think that my idea is the best way. It’s simple, and quick.”He said. Sure Luca was kidding, but he also would find it absolutely hilarious if that was truly how they told her parents. “If we shock him he won’t be able to actually come after me. Because we both know the day he takes a swing at me is the day I knock his ass out.” Luca said and shrugged. He would never hurt her father, but if her father did try to physically assault him, Luca wasn’t going to just roll over and take it. He wasn’t that type of man. “I honestly have no real ideas, so there’s my pitch.” He told her nonchalantly. “As if I wasn’t protective of you beforehand. I beat a guy up for accidentally bumping into you at the grocery store Jaycee.” He said, chuckling softly. “You know I’ve got a little bit of crazy in me.”

Luca leaned back into the sofa, he was content now. Being around Jaycee made everything better. A small smile sat on his face as he thought about her, them, and their future child. “I’ve gotta start putting money away to save up for all kinds of baby stuff. No more wasting money gambling and on cars.” He laughed and looked up at Jaycee. Luca had grown up in the gang life, the gang culture. His father had been a leader, and when he stepped down, Luca took over. His life had always revolves around fighting, gambling, drug culture, cars, and plain old rebellion. He never had any regard for his own safety. If he died doing what he loved, who cared. He was extremely successful. He made thousands of dollars a day with his illegal activities. But he never truly started to care about something real, or about his safety, until he met Jaycee. She made him want to come home at the end of the day. He didn’t even understand how he had gotten so lucky to have a girl like her in his corner.

“Maybe I should just tell them myself, ease into it...” Jaycee wasn’t her fathers biggest fan, but she didn’t want to completely shock him. If she told her parents without Luca though, they might think he’s not going to stick around. She sighed, “Maybe, I’ll invite them over for dinner and we can deal with it one thing at a time, starting with us being back together and then the baby...” She knew there was always the possibility of her father completely losing it, but she really didn’t want to see them get physical. Hearing him mention the grocery store, she laughed softly, “To be fair, that guy was an asshole, and I tend to like your crazy.”

Jaycee nodded, “I know, there’s a lot to figure out, and it seems like we have a lot of time, but I feel like it’s going to fly by...” The sudden thought of her father taking back her house crossed her mind, “What if he kicks me out of my house? I know we’ll figure something out, but...” She wouldn’t put it past her dad to be cold and heartless, especially with Luca involved.

Luca nodded in agreement. “Easing into it is definitely a lot better an idea. I feel like he’ll freak out less if we later on the bad news slowly, like a lasagna.” He said and his stomach growled. “Sorry I’m starving.”he said laughing to himself. “I think there’s less likely to be an altercation if we do it your way.”he said and laid his head on her shoulder, just thinking about all the information he was trying to retain currently. “I hope you like it, cause now you’re stuck with it. Times two.”He teased and kissed her cheek. Luca stretched his arms as she spoke about the time going by quick. “Exactly why I want to start planning now, start getting ready now, better safe than sorry.” Lucas put a finger to Jaycee’s lips when she bega to worry. “Baby, don’t worry. You know damn well I can afford a much nicer place than I live, I just don’t because I’ve never needed it. Then I had you. If he does, we can get our own home. I’ll sell the apartment and put a hefty deposit down.”he said and kissed her lips gently. “I think you underestimate just how much money I have.” He told her honestly. Luca wasn’t extravagant, but he didn’t want to be. He saved a lot of money, and invested a lot back into his gang.

Luca moves Jaycee off his lap and stood up, walking back into the kitchen. He was thirsty, but also wanted to see the ultrasound picture again. Luca opened the fridge and looked for a drink. He saw there were three of his beers left, knowing Jaycee hated the drink. “You kept my Heineken?” he called out. Luca grabbed one and cracked it open, sipping it as he walked back towards the living room. He grabbed the photo and was beaming at it as he arrived back into sight. “I know it’s just a black and white bean right now. But it’s the cutest black and white bean ever.”

Jaycee smiled, “Then we can ease into it. Tomorrow night? That way we can get it done...” She laughed when he mentioned lasagna, shaking her head. “I know you can, I’m just worried, it’s a lot for them to take in and I think he’s going to handle it badly...” The thought of them having their own life and not having to worry about her father. Jaycee imagined what their home would look like.

She watched as Luca walked into the kitchen, biting her lip softly. “Yeah, I never got around to getting rid of them..” She told him, smiling as he walked back in. “I know, at first when it came up on the screen, I didn’t see it, but this picture makes it a little more real...” Jaycee said softly.

Luca agreed to the dinner tomorrow. He hoped it would go at least okay. He didn’t expect it to be fine, or good, or anything like that. But if everyone got out alive that would be an accomplishment. “Just invite them for dinner, dont tell the, in advance. It’ll be worse if he already knows I’m here.Luca kissed her forehead in reassurance. “I promise we will make everything work. We are going to have an amazing life. You, me, and baby Moretti.” He smiled brightly at the thought. “If we’ve gotta do It without your parents, we can. We can get our own house and I’ll let you decorate and design it however you want.”Luca told her with a big grin. Luca day besides Jaycee and sipped his beer, holding the picture in his lap, he ran his thumb over it multiple times. “Were both super hot, our kid is gonna be a model.” Luca said and grinned.

Luca was excited. He knew his life was back on track now. “Tell me the story of how we met.” He teased as he glanced across at Jaycee. They both knew full and well how they met. But the couple always did this to each other. They liked hearing the story over and over. Luca leaned back into the couch, closed his eyes, and held the ultrasound to his chest as he waited for her to talk. “And don’t cut out my amazing pun like you usually do.” He reached out with his free hand, placing it on her stomach. “We’ve got prepare to tell the story to this one.”

Jaycee wasn’t delusional, she knew the dinner was probably going to end in disaster. She was just glad she wouldn’t have to do it alone, knowing that Luca would be there with her made it easier. Of course she wanted to try and keep her family involved, but realistically, her father would never approve of Luca and Jaycee just couldn’t see why. She couldn’t help laughing when she heard his comment about their kid being a model, “You think so?” She smiled up at him.

When he mentioned the story of how they met, she smiled brightly, “Well if you love your amazing pun, why don’t you tell it?” She teased, knowing it drove him nuts when she told the story but cut that part out. Feeling his hand on her stomach, Jaycee smiled a bit more as she glanced down before placing her hand over his. Jaycee was still trying to process that she was pregnant, having Luca around made it a little easier.

Luca looked to jaycee and nodded. “Babe I know so.” He purred and kissed her cheek. Luca was worried. But he wasn’t going to show it or let Jaycee know. But he was very worried about how badly her father would react. Sure they’d fought before, sure they’d argued, he’d done plenty to Luca indirectly. But Luca truly believed this would be the straw that broke the camels back and he would try to hurt him. Luca wasn’t necassarily scared. He was a gang leader and plenty of people wanted him dead. But. He didn’t want to lose Jaycee or have her lose him.

“Oh nuh uh.” He teased and opened his eyes as he glanced at her. “You need to learn to tell it right.” He teased. Luca sipped his beer again before setting it besides them. “Gotta learn to tell it right so we don’t confuse th little bugger.” He told her and smiled brightly. Luca had thought about having kids. But then he met Jaycee, and he was okay with it. He’d give his life for Jaycee. And she knew he meant that literally. But now he had another person he’d give his life for. Or as he’d rather think about it. A reason to live. His lifestyle was risky, dangerous, and terrifying. It wasn’t fun, and it didn’t do much for him. But he had his outside reasons to live and that made it worthwhile.

Jaycee felt better having Luca there with her, she was nervous to tell her parents, but she knew she had to. “It has to be okay...” She said softly, looking up at him. Jaycee just wanted her father to get over himself and realize that she was happy with Luca and that he really loved her. A soft sigh left her lips as she placed a hand on her belly, “He can’t just think about what he wants...”

“I do tell it right, I just leave out one goofy little part,” Jaycee laughed softly. Just talking about their baby made her smile more, since they met she had been thinking about having kids with Luca one day. It was still a shock when she saw the little pink plus sign that came up when she took the test. “He or she won’t be confused, it’s still the same story,” she teased back, smiling as they talked.
