Sleepy Hollow was always dark and gloomy. The clouds hang over head constantly and never let the sun come through. Mist hung in the valley all year round, adding to the creepy feel of the town. The town was an odd place, not just because of the weather and the atmosphere, but the people were strange too.

Sleepy Hollow was a small village far removed from the rest of civilisation, people and vampires lived together in some form of harmony. The head family of the area the Redfang's lived on the hill in a large castle, and protected the valley and the village from intruders. The vast majority of the townspeople were human, and respected the Redfang's aware and thankful for their protection. The vampires being immortal often outlived the townsfolk, and liked turning human companions every few centuries. The turned vampires eventually dying off.

Augustus had been away for awhile and had only recently returned. He was looking to settle down, and had voiced his desire to find a companion for at least awhile. When he had come back, a peculiar scent had been catching his nose every day.

    (I love the name xD)

Ada gathered a couple of things in a basket to take to her father while he was at work having noticed he hadn't taken a thing with him earlier that morning. Brushing her hair away from her face, she hummed softly as she soon headed outside smiling at a few people nodding her head in greeting to them. She passed a few vampires, having not knowing their names, and was confused seeing them giving her odd looks.

She knew her father was a more important figure in their village, but loathed the fact that it made her such a figure in the eyes of people. She knew not all vampires were bad and that because of certain families, the humans in the village were kept safe, but she also knew certain ones were cruel, for no particular reason whatsoever, other than boredom. It made her blood boil knowing that some people were killed simply because of a creature's blood lust.

Soon, she arrived at her father's place of work, nodding at one of the other men there before heading quickly to her father giving him a smile. She sat down beside him speaking to him. "Hello, father. You didn't pack a lunch and I noticed you hadn't eaten anything either. You know, the doctor said you needed to eat more." She scolded him feeling more like the parent than he did. She had chosed to left her hair down, her scent wafting throughout the room. She continued to speak with him, glad that he didn't seem to be terribly busy at the moment. Soon, she looked up hearing footsteps.

Augustus had been wondering the streets, he was checking on the other vampires around town. He knew that the intermingling of humans and vampires had caused a few other vampire families to move in. Families that didn't have the same respect for the local humans that his family did.

He was out to spread the word that all humans in sleepy hollow were protected, and weren't allowed to be fed on or mistreated unless they consented, and that a process had to be followed. He welcomed foreign vampires as long as they followed the rules.

As he walked the streets the same smell that had been taunting him since he got back, hit him again. He decided he'd follow it, he came upon the Mr Parsley's shop. Augustus respected the man, despite his dislike of vampires, the man protected and fought for the safety of the village. Augustus pulled his overcoat up, covering himself before stepping into the store.

Ada smiled at her father gently. She started to let out sighs when she heard him start to fuss at her about the dresses she chose to wear hearing him say she had plenty of nicer dresses that she didn't wear. "This one is just fine, Papa." She reminded him. He just gave her a look sighing as he went back to eating his lunch offering her a piece of bread. She took it and slowly ate small pieces of it knowing that she was not allowed to look at the official documents he had on his desk at the moment.

Hearing the door open, she looked up to see who it was. When she did, she knew it was a vampire, though, she had never see this one in town before. She figured they needed to discuss things, and being that she was a woman was not allowed to hear the things. She kissed her father's cheek before standing. "I will see you later, Papa." She smiled as he held her hand for a moment.

When he noticed who had come into the shop, he immediately stood up almost knocking over the basket that Ada had brought with her. "Mr. Redfang." He said nodding his head. He knew his place and made sure to have Ada curtsey before she walked towards the door, having to pass Augustus as she did so. Her hair flowed in the wind, causing her scent to waft up. She smelled of strawberries and vanilla. She tried her best to keep her eyes off of the strange man, knowing it was rather rude.

Augustus smiled politely and let Ada leave, lightly bowing back as she curtsied. His head turned as the scent hit him strongly as she past. He was surprised to have finally found the source.

"Mr Parsley, how's business been?" he asked softly pulling up a seat. He sat down hoping that he would follow suit, he disliked being treated in such a formal manner, it's why he had left all those years ago. He looked around the store, "I hear you've had some issues with vampires," he commented. He reached into his suit jack and pulled out a piece of paper, placing it in front of the man.

"I wanted to come by to inform you that I've been given the authority from my father to extradite or otherwise remove trouble vampires from Sleepy Hollow, if I stick around for the next Century," he explained. He had a reputation for being an exceedingly brutal warrior, and had killed several vampires in his past. He was well aware that Mr Parsley would know that the offer came with a catch.

Ada headed home to her mother before sitting down on the rug letting her head fall on the back of one of the cushions from the sofa. She smiled as one of their dogs came and sat down beside her. She rubbed his belly before taking out her sewing kit and beginning to sew with her mother making small talk as they did so.

Andrew Parsley looked at Augustus knowing full well who he was and said, "It's business." He nodded sitting down as well since he was an older man after all. He crossed his arms over his chest, setting his reading spectacles down as he spoke with him. He sighed hearing his words and gave a nod. "Normally, I wouldn't feel the need to admit that statement, but since you're being blunt, then I shall as well. Vampires are becoming a problem running wild and killing of boredom, more or less." He said gruffly.

He watched him before watching his eyes beginning to narrow as he heard his words. He took the piece of paper reading over it before saying, "In exchange for what?" He asked setting the parchment down to look back up at Augustus. "What do you want?" He questioned knowing that the decision was not his alone, but the decision was up to the council to see if it was worth it. Depending on the request, they would take him up on his offer if his price was not too high.

Augustus nodded understanding where Andrew was coming from, 'I have zero loyalty to vampires who abuse what we have built here, our stance has always been that the residents here are protected, and humans are only to be used for feeding when necessary, and if their locals consent needs to be given," he stated.

He looked at the older man, "Like I mentioned the deal requires me to stay here in town, and I don't do great staying in one place," he said. He was finding it difficult to find the words, with the distracting scent still hanging in the air. After a brief moment he sighed, "I want to be blunt, I want to take a companion, to keep me company so I'm not tempted to leave again," he said.

He sat watching the man, trying to read his thoughts on the proposal. He knew that he was a powerful voice among the human council of town, and hoped he could gain his support. He was after all offering to assist them in removing the needless brutality.

Andrew watched him, sitting back in his chair as he listened to him and said, "No offese, but words mean nothing anymore, not since this all started happening. Actions mean more." He told him. He sighed softly. He knew he should be far less abrasive, especially towards a Redfang but his patience had grown thin over the years.

Watching him, Andrew narrowed his eyes needing him to just spit it out already. Once, he did, he was surprised at his words and ran a hand over his face before looking back at him and said, "Do you have any idea of whom? And obviously, I can't give you an answer right away. It's not up to me." He told him carefully, not wanting him to get the wrong idea that he was just stalling for time. His thoughts were more than a little sparse and he was growing tired. He knew it was because he had not slept the night before.

Andrew was a little upset that in order for him to help the village willingly, he needed a bribe practically. It disgusted him a little, but knew that weeding out the bad apples among the bunch would be no easy feat and supposed that proper payment was in order.

Augustus nodded lightly, "I understand your position sir, so I'll try make it plain," he began. He pulled his coat closed, and stood up, "This won't be easy for you to hear, so I want to preface it with this, I have never bitten, turned, or hurt one of my companions," he began.

"I also want you to know this deal is not contingent on receiving one, just the consideration of it, but the person I had in mind, just left your shop five minutes ago," he stated before turning and exiting the building.

He knew the man would struggle with it, and might take some time to come around to the idea. He planned on searching around for the first trouble vampire now, to show some good faith to man.

Andrew watched him lacing his fingers together in front of him on the desk having sat up to listen to him. He watched him wanting to ask a question, but figured he should be quiet instead and simply listen. He was glad to hear that he had never hurt or bitter or turned one of his companions, but he also knew for a fact that that didn't necessarily mean he would keep that good faith.

He gave a nod hearing his first part of the sentence before staring at him shocked stupid as he heard him tell him he wanted his daughter as a companion. He wanted the promise of his daughter. He shook his head muttering to himself, "Never going to happen." He had half a mind to take the letter and rip it up, but knew that as a member of the village and council, he had to take it to them. He shook his head before standing up closing the shop and heading to the building where most of the members were to tell them they needed to have a meeting tonight.

Ada finished up her sewing and smiled at the picture she had made before standing up and stretching yawning and looking at the time before figuring she could go out and do some things. She grabbed her hat before heading out towards the field going to pick some flowers for the house to smell better.

Augustus spent the day around the neighbourhood where the most recent attack on a human had occurred. His distinctive outfit, the large dark overcoat, immaculate suit, and perfectly fitting leather boots, made him stick out as a Redfang. He approached the houses and spoke to the residents, offering them his personal condolences.

He was looking for a lead, some place to start his tracking. He found a scent of recent blood, that lead off towards the woods. He followed it along, finding tracks and evidence of the attack. He noticed the young woman with the intoxicating aroma heading towards the clearing and decided to approach her.

He walked up behind her and bowed, "Milady, you shouldn't be out alone, there are dangerous vampires around,' he stated lightly.

Ada hummed softly as she walked slowly down the dirt path knowing that if she walked in the grass it would get her dress dirty and then her mother would be less than happy. She wondered why her father had gotten so frazzled earlier at the appearance of that man. She knew he was an important vampire to have gotten that sort of reaction from him.

Hearing word, she nearly jumped out of her skin and turned around to see the same man again. "There are always dangerous vampires lurking. It does no good to hide constantly." She replied softly watching him with distrust. She curtsied before murmuring, "I do this almost every day and have never had any trouble."

She had a basket around her arm and was hoping she could just go and look for the flowers and go back quickly. She didn't want him to follow either, but felt that if she wanted to continue with her plan, she would have no choice but to have his company.

Augustus nodded, "I know, and I'm sorry that this has become the case," he stated. He kept his distance from her, sensing she was uncomfortable, "Some vampires are worse than others, I hope you understand that," he stated. He stepped away a few steps.

"I plan on making sure that our town is once again a safe place for everyone, so you can continue to gather flowers in peace," he stated. He paused considering his next move carefully, "I'm Augustus by the way," he added.

He would leave if she asked him to, he didn't want to bug her. He was hoping she would come to like him, and as he had told her father consider becoming his companion.

Ada just gave a nod not knowing what to say. She sighed hearing his words before saying, "That's with anything." She shrugged as she looked at the ground gently, before allowing her sapphire gaze to turn back to him and was a little confused on his statement.

She gave a little laugh and said, "I will never be allowed to gather flowers in peace. Vampires are not the only things that could hurt me." She shrugged. She heard his name and watched him. "Ada. What is your last name if you don't mind my asking?" She questioned, knowing he must have one of the top family names to make her father act like that.

She didn't think he was the top family since she had never seen him before. She swapped her basket to her other arm feeling it get a little bit sore from being in one place for so long. She started to walk again knowing that he would follow.

Augustus nodded lightly following behind her keeping the same distance between them. "Ada, beautiful name, for a beautiful woman," he mused softly. He scanned the area for a moment, taking a deep breath.

"I don't mind at all, I'm a Redfang," he admitted lightly. He watched her face trying to gauge her reaction. He smiled softly, "I've been away for while, life here got boring," he said lightly. He didn't want to admit he'd been away fighting, vampires like the human's had a war going on.

Ada hummed softly before hearing his words and glancing back but keeping her face facing forwards and smiled softly so he didn't see before murmuring, "Thank you. You are too kind." She said before continuing to walk stopping when she saw a couple of flowers she wanted to pick. She crouched close to the ground before gently cutting them with a pair of scissors and placing them in her basket.

She froze for a moment hearing his words and looked back up meeting his eyes knowing full well she could get seriously hurt for daring to look into the eyes of a man let alone a powerful and wealthy man. "Well, life is never really boring if you do the right kinds of things." She pointed out before turning away her back facing him as she began to walk once more.

She looked around running a hand throughout her hair gasping when she was suddenly pushed into a tree her head hitting the bark and looked around trying to decipher what had happened.

Augustus had stopped following her, and increased the distance between them. He hadn't smelled the other vampire coming, Ada's scent having dominated his sense of smell since he'd caught up to her. Her gasp drew his attention and he saw her being held up by another vampire, one he didn't recognise.

He stepped up and cleared his throat, opening his over jacket and his suit jacket, the move revealed that Augustus had several gruesome looking weapons, and his family crest embossed on leather armour. "I don't believe we've met sir, or you wouldn't have been so stupid," he snapped.

The vampire snared at him bearing his fangs. "Go away this one is mine, you should learn not to play with your food," he snarled. He looked rabid, and disheveled, clearly a foreign vampire, if not he was recently turned.

Augustus stepped forward and grabbed him by the neck lifting him off Ada, "You should really respect the rules of the places you stay," he stated. He threw the vampire away, giving him one chance to flee.

Ada flinched hearing the snarl and really just wanted to kick him and make him get off of her. He was rather heavy and she could feel her head feeling like it was going to burst from the impact of the bark. She blindly reached her hand up and felt the blood and looked down at the crimson liquid on her blood and mumbled something unintellible. She felt rather woozy and was unable to keep her head up from falling onto her shoulder.

She watched as Augustus lifted the other vampire off of her and was surprised to see how easily he did it, and then she remembered he was a vampire himself. The smell of her blood had set off the other hungry vampire making conversation impossible. She wished she could lift herself up and run, but it seemed as if she had a concussion and knew if she were to try and stand at the moment, she would just fall over or be a burden to Augustus since he seemed as if he were protecting her.

She looked at the blood and suddenly felt extremely nauseated knowing that the blood was matting her hair and the smell made her sick. It smelled metallic and reminded her of steel beams. She looked back up in time to see the vampire rushing at her. She shut her eyes shut hoping she wouldn't feel anything.

Augustus growled the scent of her blood hung heavy. He was worried for her, and prayed that her father wouldn't blame him for this attack.

Upon seeing the other vampire lunge at Ada again despite his warning. He moved with a quick blur of motion, he dove at the vampire and wrestled it to the ground. He pulled a spiked choker from behind his back and snapped it around the vampires neck. He was hoping not to have to kill this vampire, hoping to get some answers out of it first.

He turned to Ada to evaluate her condition. The sight of her crimson blood, didn't set off his instinct to fed, rather it aroused him slightly. It seemed everything about Ada was made to drive him crazy. He knew she needed medical help that was beyond himself. So with a smooth motion he decapitated the vampire, letting its body slump to the floor.
