Take Me Higher

Remy leaned in against Been slightly as he wrapped his arms around around her, before pulling away from him and slipping her jacket off to hand it to the waiter to put it in the cloakroom. "I'm gonna go grab a drink, what do you want?" She asked ben kindly, before heading to the bar, leaning against it, her weight resting on her elbows as she weighted to get served.

"Your a lucky man Benjamin, a girl with a mind like hers is hard to find" Dan said to him with a laugh, only meaning to compliment her intellect. "It must be a refreshing thing to come home to after the mind numbingness of watching the kiddos eh?" He teased,. With a hearty chuckle just trying to be friendly. After a couple of minutes, Remy returned with their drinks, nervous to see Been and Dan still chatting.

Aidan's mother laughed slightly and shook her head. "Oh no dear, I do find Asian works so mundane. Everybody tries to copy it now a days, you could find look a likes at Target for all I say! I quite like Celtic design, it's bold, and original" she said with a satisfied nod and glanced at Aidan her face brightening. Aidan hot me the most beautiful vase for my 60th last year, so ornate" she said. Aidan looked down at Claire, almost certain he had already told Claire what type of pottery his mother liked, she had after all helped him pick that vase last year.

Benjamin gave Remy before saying, "I don't want anything babe. I'll get something later." He gave her a sweet smile pressing a gentle kiss to her hand watching her leave and then looked over hearing Dan beginning to talk to him. He narrowed his eyes lightly hearing him speaking about gets. "Mind numbingness? You obviously don't like children." He said softly. "They say the oddest things, but at the same time seem to intrigue the mind to actually think. I don't find them mind numbing in the least. And Yes, I am a lucky man." He told him.

He didn't like how Dan complimented Remy at all and when she returned, he wrapped his arm around her waist pulling her close giving him a small smile before turning to her. "Get what you wnated, babe?" He asked her giving her a sweet smile, but his grip was tight and he was tense. He didn't want to ruin her night, but Dan was getting on every single last nerve he had.

Claire listened to her speak about Asian pottery and was beginning to get a little annoyed as the woman spoke knowing if she spoke her mind, then his mom would surely dislike her. She nodded her head gently and smiled softly. "I have a lot of Celtic in my collection as well, if you would like to see it?" She offered to her, her hand tightening in Aidan's. She gave her a smile. "I remember that vase. I thought he did a splendid job picking it out." She told her giving all of the credit to Aidan. She smiled at him kissing his cheek lightly before looking back at his mother. "Are you interested in Gaelic art?" She asked her interested to see what else she liked.

Dan shrugged softly "No I don't think kids would be my scene at all really, so good on you for taking care of them!" He said with a deep chuckle, not even taking notice of the tense response.

Remy returned, a glass of white wine in hand and she looked between the two guys slightly nervously. "Yeah, they even had the brand I liked!" Remy said with a laugh, smiling up at her boyfriend happily. She began to squirm a little uncomfortably as his grip tightened even more. "Please excuse is Dan, I must introduce him to a few others" she said quickly, before turning away and shoving her arm in between his hand and her body. "Been your squeezing hard it kind of hurts" she whispered gently, waving at one of the other girls on her team.

Adians mother began to speak about all of the other pieces she liked, clearly name dropping to show how influential she was. Aidan eventually got sick of the art talk and quickly changed the subject.

"So mom, dad. I was thinking if you wouldn't mind I'd like to take Claire to this house in Aspen next weekend to celebrate her launch, would you mind?" He asked. He knew he hadn't ran it past her, but he was sure she would jump at the chance to go skiing with him. The house was a gorgeous chalet that he knew she would love once they got there.

Benjamin shrugged lightly. He heard his words narrowing his eyes a little before just taking a sip of his drink. He heard Remy unable to help a small smile coming onto his face after hearing her excited about it. He blinked when she walked away and put her arm between him and her. "Sorry." He apologized softly letting go gently before raising her hand and kissing it. "I just got so annoyed." He sighed.

He didn't know what he was doing here. He wanted to support Remy, but everything was beginning to annoy him at the moment especially that Dan. He sighed softly.

Claire simply nodded her head lightly listening to his mom commenting every now and then putting in her own views on it. She looked up to Aidan when he changed the subject.

She blinked hearing his words and just smiled gently kissing his cheek lightly. She knew she wasn't the woman that his mom wanted for him, but she loved him and knew that that was all that mattered. She turned to his parents with a sweet smile. Her thumb rubbed over his hand underneath the table squeezing it ever so slightly to show her excitement for skiing.
