Indi sighed as she looked up from her breakfast cereal at the door waiting for her father to walk in with his latest henchman. She had always hated how her dad insisted on always having one of his men looking out for her. It made her feel like a child, and almost as if she never had any freedom, knowing full well that her every last move would be reported back to daddy at the end of the day.

Although Indigo knew she had her father wrapped around her little finger, and therefore always knew how to get his goons in hot water. For this exact reason non of her "protectors" ever lasted more than a couple of weeks with her. She wasn't sure what happened to them after, and frankly she didn't care. Indi always left the punishment part to her Daddy, but for the past few years she had been growing more and more interest in the business side of things. Much to her father's dismay, she hoped to one day play a role in his industry, rather than just be an arm piece for some rich man that daddy deemed acceptable.

Her attention was drawn from her cereal again as she heard a man clear his throat above her. In front of Indi stood one of the better looking men in her father's crew, and she couldn't help but state for a minute.

"I guess you're my new babysitter?" the 21 year old chided, looking him square in the eye. She stood up, placing her two arms on the table trying to exude power she continued to stare at him. "You stay out of my way and I'll ensure you stay out of My Father's bad books, understood?" she threatened him, her eyes narrowing to challenge him.

Marcelo had been surprised when Vincent had approached him with the task of protecting his daughter. Marcelo had been running with the Castillo family for a few years by now, putting work in so that one day he would be promoted to a capo. He knew it required work, that he wasn’t just going to be handed the position without effort. The thing about Marcelo was that he was willing to put the work in. It didn’t matter what it was. Killing didn’t bother him. Robbing banks, transporting guns, drugs. He could do it all.

Apparently this ability to get the job done had drawn Vincent’s attention because Vince t told Marcelo he would be protecting Indigo. That if it came down to it, that he was to lay his life on the line to protect her and Marcelo promised the man to do just that.

Meeting Indigo for the first time, Marcelo hadn’t been so sure what he should expect but her first words to him were nowhere near close to what he had thought. Clearing his throat, Marcelo let out a low chuckle as he glanced down to his feet. He gave a shrug of his shoulders before looking back up to Indigo, tilting his head to the side. He studied her for a moment, running his tongue over his bottom lip.

“With all due respect, miss, I wouldn’t call myself a babysitter. I’m here to make sure people that shouldn’t lay a hand on you, don’t. That’s all. Anything after that...” Marcelo trailed off, giving a shrug of his shoulders. “After that, so long as you’re not going to get yourself killed, it doesn’t really matter what you do.”

Indi had always been a headstrong girl, from the moment she could talk, she had always been vocal about how she liked things, and changing her mind was no easy feat. If you say Nlack, she'll say white and that's just how she liked it, the last thing Indi wanted to be known as was predictable.

She studied the man before her. He dressed sharp, and didn't have many visible scars indicating to her that he played sharp too. Indi didn't try to hide the fact she was checking him out. "Well Mr.Not-My-Babysitter, you can call me Indi, Indigo if you want to be uptight." She informed him, beginning to cross the kitchen toward him. She was already slightly impressed, unlike many who came before him, he wasn't trying to suck up to her.

As she walked toward him slowly she began to speak in a low tone. "I have some ground rules. You do not enter my bedroom before knocking. You do not speak to my friends unless spoken to, and most importantly? You answer to me now. My father is not your boss, I am. You do not tell him what I do or who I see, you do not tell him the conversations we have or you hear, understood? If these rules can not be followed you will be dealt with swiftly. Check my track record, I'm not lying." She finished, stopping right in front of him, looking up at his face. Though she was only 5"2, Indi knew how to make her presence felt.

She kept her face sullen as she watched him for a few moments before allowing her face to soften into a gentle smile. "What's your name?" She asked, holding her hand out for him to shake. She always like to see how far she could push these men, and how much she could make them do.

Marcelo has prided himself in being a well dressed man. Even when he went out on a job that would inevitably lead to someone’s blood being spilled, he would wear a button down shirt and a pair of dark jeans. There was never a need to be unpresentable, whether he was associated with the Castillo family or not. He wasn’t a dull man either, he noticed when Indigo checked him out but he opted not to say anything about it. She seemed to be a prideful woman and despite answering to her father, Marcelo knew upsetting her would do no good for him either.

“As long as what you’re doing isn’t going to get you killed, I’ll abide by those rules. If you’re trying to get yourself killed, then all bets are off and your safety is paramount,” Marcelo answered Indi back, giving a slight nod of his head. How she took what he said, Marcelo didn’t really particularly care. He was here to protect her and even by her father’s words, it would sometimes be from herself.

“Marcelo. You can call me Marcelo,” he introduced himself, using her earlier introduction, a smirk finding its way to his features as he took her hand in his to shake. Dropping her hand after a moment, Marcelo crossed his arms in front of him. “You can act as if I’m not here, if that’s what you prefer, Indigo,” Marcelo spoke, his gaze piercing hers as he raised an eyebrow as if to ask what she expected of him in that regard. He could either hang back or stand with her but he would always be there, there was no getting out of that part for Indigo unfortunately.

Indi rolled her eyes as he gave her the 'I'm here for your protection speech' she could nearly tell the men what hey were going to say before they said it at this stage. "And what if I'm trying to get you killed?" she teased, raising an eyebrow at the tall man before turning on her heels and strutting to the counter to grab her handbag. She threw in her cellphone and keys, rooting around to make sure she had everything she needed.

The blond had her hair swept back behind her shoulder, hanging loose and wavy down to her lower back. She wore a camel coloured blazer over a white ruffled blouse, and cigarette pants in the same colour to match. Black louboutins adorned her feet and of course her signature red lip finished off the entire look. She turned to face Marcelo, her nose crumpling up sligtly. she looked at him as if in thought, placing her finger on her chin."Hmmm. Marcelo doesn't really work for me, lets try Marco for now." she told him, a coy smile on her face as she winked at him.

Turning to walk out of the kitchen, she continued to talk to him, "Believe me your prescence in my life is known and acknowledged. Ive learned the hard way that your types can be hard to ignore. I would like to remind you however, that everything said between you and I is kept that way." Indi was a sweetheart at her core, but she held most at arms length to ensure that tothe public she appeared just as callous and cunning as her father. Women were not usually listened to in this line of business so to speak, but Indigo insisted she always get her say. Exiting the front door, she sat in to the back seat of the large range rover, knowing Marcio would follow. Indi smiled at her driver, "Hey Romeo, we have fresh meat today" she informed him with a smile, nodding her head in Marcelo's direction. Romeo had been her driver for almmost 13 years now, she would almost consider him a friend.

Turning to Marcelo in the back seat, she handed him a cellphone that she had pulled from her handbag. "That's what you use to contact me, It's likely yours is tapped" she shrugged nonchalantly, staring out the window at the passing views. "I have a meeting with Pierre de Gaul at noon, his last payment to Daddy was less than substantial, So I am more or less his gentle reminder too pay up before he gets a visit from... well you know the rest" she informed marco, trailing off at the end.

“I do hope you hired a talented individual if you’re trying to get me killed, Indigo,” Marcelo answered with a dry laugh. She did not know his history, nor did she know what he was capable of. That would all come in due time. He had been in the military, honourably discharged after his last tour in Iraq. It had only been a few weeks before Indigo’s father got into contact with him, saying that his reputation had preceded him and if he would like a way to make a lot of money, well, he could help Marcelo with that. The rest was history.

His eyes narrowed when Indigo decided upon a nickname for him, wondering just how long he would have to put up with such a ridiculous name. There was a reason he had introduced himself as Marcelo but he supposed girls like Indigo didn’t always consider things like that. She was on top of the world, she had no one to answer to and thus, nothing to really worry about.

“You’ve not had a guard like me, Indigo. If you’d prefer I linger in the shadows, that is my specialty after all,” Marcelo spoke, giving the slightest indication of what his job had once been within the Navy. He followed her wordlessly out to the Range Rover that had been parked in front of the home when he had arrived. Giving a roll of his eyes at Indigo’s comment, Marcelo settled in, sitting with his back straight and his head tilted ever so slightly. It always had served him well to observe everything around him, friends and enemies alike and that included Romeo up front.

Marcelo flipped the phone over in his hand before shoving it into his pocket. He produced his own phone, giving it a light tap with his forefinger. “No. I contact you on both. A tapped phone has its benefits, so long as you’re careful about what information you give. Feds are always going to be on your tail, having them run after their own tails is half of the fun.” Marcelo leaned forward, resting his elbows on his knees as he glanced out of the window.

Indigo watched him as they drove, he was very different to all of the men her father had assigned to her before. Usually they were his nearest and dearest henchmen, men he thought would treat Indigo as family and look after her like she was their own daughter- and that was exactly her issue with all of them. They were all overfamiliar, middle aged men who thought they were in charge of her simply because they had known her since she was a child. Marcelo however, He was young and she had never met him before, or even heard her father speak of him. He didn't insist on advising her, rather he seemed happier to fade into non-existence in the the background.

She shrugged as he produced his own phone, she didnt really care too much, it was his funeral if he fucked up after all. "So how long have you worked for my family?" she asked him, trying to be friendly. As much as she would like to keep him on her toes, she knew keeping him on side would also benefit her greatly in the long run. She also did have a genuine interest, it would be unlike Daddy to assign a newcomer to look after her. No matter how much money they had at the end of the day, it was well known that the Castillos would risk everything for family, and that included long serving staff. if you showed loyalty to her father, you were shown the gratitude and welcoming of the entire family.

She sighed softly, Marco seemed so straight edge she wasn't sure if she was going to be able to pull any fun out him. An idea struck her and she smiled gently as she reached forward and took a bottle of water from the small cooler and looked up at him. "You want something?"she offered beofr etwisting th ecap off the watter bottle and taking a small sip. She swallowed and counted to 5 in herhead. Suddenly, a gurgling soung started to eminate from the back of her throat, her eyes bulged, darting around worried as her hands came up to her throat, clutching at it as if she gasping for air. she continued to make supressed little scream noises as if she was scared and began to stamp her feet. it was her favourite trick, and she couldnt wait to see how he reacted.

Marcelo was more than happy to settle into silence on the drive, not exactly expecting much conversation from Indigo. He didn’t mind, he wasn’t generally a man of very many words. He was a man of actions, they spoke for themselves after all. Glancing toward her with a raised brow when she questioned him, Marcelo contemplated his answer for a moment. “Long enough that your father trusts me with the most important thing in your life.” He left it at that, if she wanted a real answer she could ask her father or she could figure it out another way.

He gave a shake of his head, the only answer that Indigo would get out of him. Marcelo was prepared for the day, he wasn’t going to bother with a sip of water that was unnecessary. It wasn’t until Indigo started choking that his attention was drawn back to her. He bolted straight up, glancing toward the front seat for only a moment before unbuckling his swat and moving toward Indigo. His one hand shot to her wrist to check her pulse, his other already moving to unbuckle her seat belt. His sense of urgency seemed to dull though, instead he reached for the same bottle that she had just taken a sip out of before taking a long swig of his own.

“May want Romeo in on your little prank if you want me to believe it,” Marcelo said lowly, a scowl forming on his features. He wasn’t happy to have been duked in such a way, the only indication that he had been was Romeo’s own lack of fear when Indigo had started to panic. “Come on, Indi,” he paused for emphasis on the nickname she had provided earlier. “You’re smarter than that. I know you are.” He smirked then, her glare enough to calm his own frustration about the situation.

Indi began to laugh as Marcelo started to panic around her checking her pulse and undoing her belt. Her face fell rather quickly though when he took a large swig from the water himself. She pouted "No fair. Romeo, cmon man! You gotta up your game, keep this guy on his toes!" she joked, watching his eyes in the mirror on the front of the car. Romeo chuckled and shook his head. "Indi you know my job is to concentrate on the road, I'm sure this gentleman would have my head if I crashed the car with you in it" he told her, winking into the mirror for her to see.

She glared across the car at her new carer after he had taken a blow at her intelligence. She hated that sly smirk on his face as if he had one upped her. "There's no need to be so smug." she chided, crossing her arms across her chest "You're perceptive, well done for doing your job". She scoffed and pulled out her phone, deciding she had enough of trying to get to know Marcelo for this morning. Just like any other 22 year old, Indigo kept secrets too, being the heiress to a mafia fortune didn't change anything about it. She began to send a message to a guy she had been seeing, filling him in on how much she hated her father insisting on having her under 24/7 surveillance.

Just as she hit send on the message she noticed the car was pulling up outside "La Bon marché" Pierre de Gaule's Parisian restaurant. Pierre paid her father for protection in his restaurant, were Pierrepont often held wild high-density illegal Poker Nights, only this month his payment was short.

Marcelo knew that he had gotten under Indi's skin the moment she glared at him. As far as he was concerned, she was forgiven for the little trick that she had tried to pull on him. He shrugged when she spoke to him, refusing to give into her comments. It was an eye for an eye, as far as Marcelo was concerned. If it had been anyone else, he likely would have said something smartass but since it was Indigo, Marcelo elected to keep his comment to himself. Looking down to his lap, Marcelo ground his teeth together as he caught her texting out of the corner of his eye. He didn't bother looking her way. He wasn't meant to Indigo's friend, he was only meant to be a protector. After that, it didn't really matter what Indigo's opinion was of him.

He shifted in his seat when they pulled up outside of a restaurant that Marcelo had been to a time or two before. He'd never been there for business, simply pleasure and the last time that he had been there had been probably a good four years ago by now. Marcelo knew that if they were visiting the establishment over such a reason, that it may not be open very much longer. If Pierre couldn't get his act together, then it didn't really matter what Marcello or the rest of the city thought about his restaurant.

Climbing out of the car, Marcelo fell into step behind Indigo. He raised an eyebrow when Romeo remained behind. Marcelo would have thought the man would follow him but shook it off, decided that it wasn't worth questioning. "Do you think we can grab a meal while we're here? On the house?" Marcelo thought out loud, tilting his head to the side as they stepped into the restaurant. He glanced around, noting that the interior hadn't really changed since the last time that he had been here.

Indi snorted out a laugh as she heard him ask would they get a meal on the house. "You can bet my life on it." she said flatly rolling her eyes at him. As she strutted up to the doors of the restaurant, pushing both open with her ha ds, her entire demeanour changed. Indigo's face lit up with a huge smile as she swanned in to the establishment, looking all around her. "Pierre, ÇaVa?" she exclaimed walking over to the round French man placing a kiss on either side of his cheeks.bu the look on the man's face you could tell he was surprised by this greeting.

"Pierre, this is Marcelo. My new play thing given to me by Daddy," she said, placing a hand on her new guards leg and letting out a drawn out laugh. She ordered herself the house special and a bottle of rosé before looking to Marcelo to see what he wanted. While they waited for their food, and she continued to make small talk with Pierre. As their food arrived she began to eat, looking to Marcelo and smiling. "Isn't the food so good here?" she asked, looking to Pierre and giving him a thumbs up. As she was halfway through she placed her knife and fork down, looking to Pierre with a sullen look on her face.

She explained to him how she undrstood that times were tough and his daughter was sick, but that unfortunately, she knew her father would not grant his mercy. "I'm going to speak to him for you Pierre, I promise. and Marcello here will put in a good word too no doubt. I'm going to get you two weeks to pay in full. After that, well it's up to my father what happens after that" she told him kindly. Quickly finishing her food and standing up. "thank you for the lovely food Pierre. I look forward to eating here again soon." she planted two kisses on his cheeks again, nodding as he thanked her profusely. She carefully slipped $200 dollars into his hand and left to go to the car.

Once sitting Inside she looked over to Marcello, expecting him to have questions. She was sure he would have questions, probably never having seen this side of the Castillo estate before. "It can be really hard you know" she told him honestly shaking her head. "Pierre has been a friend to the family for years, I know his daughters. To have to give him an ultimatum of losing his livelihood is nothing but cruel. But if we let one slide we lose out power" she said with a shrug, examining his face for any kind of reaction.

    "Take me home Romeo."

(I generally am pretty easy going. As long as I can understand what you're trying to say. this is for fun, not a damn book XD )

Marcelo gritted his teeth, more than a bit annoyed over how Indigo kept referring to him as a play toy. He wasn't here for that - he was here to protect her. He wasn't here to do her bidding other than to keep her safe. Why she seemed to have it in her head for any other reason, Marcelo had no damn clue. He bit back a sigh, following suite with Indigo and sitting directly beside her. From his seat, he had a view of the entire restaurant and he never once paid attention to the conversation going back and forth between Pierre and Indigo. He was simply focused on the staff who came and went to the back where he assumed the kitchen was and to the guests who came and went.

Looking up when he heard his name, Marcelo's brows pulled together just slightly as he tried to figure out why his name was even being brought up. When he realized, his eyes slid to Pierre and he simply cocked his head to the side. He wasn't particularly feeling the need to plead Pierre's case but he wasn't going to discuss that here, that was something he would only bother to mention to Indigo once they were alone.

Marcelo followed Indigo out of the restaurant, he listened when Indigo started to explain to him how it was hard to be in charge of everything. His gaze drifted to her and he raised an eyebrow, wondering only briefly if it was right to challenge her. "If it is this hard for you, is it best for you to assume your father's position?" Marcelo knew he would make it through the situation either way, regardless of how it ended up happening. Whether someone else took Vincent's position or whether Indigo did, Marcelo would remain loyal to the Castillo family. He was a loyal man, that had been jammed into him time and time again within the Navy.

"Your father isn't so keen on this whole, you being involved in the family business," Marcelo paused, taking a deep breathe before he actually asked his question. "So why do you insist on doing it?"

Indi sighed as she shook her head looking over at Marcelo before tying her seat belt. "You're a perceptive man Marco. I can see that. You watch everything that happens all around you... and yet you have completely missed the point." She offered him a brief smile before turning to look out her window and gather her thoughts to move ahead. She watched as other cars passed and several people jogged by, all living normal lives.

"My intention is not to ever fill my fathers shoes. He has his own prodigy for that. Somebody who probably doesn't even realise it yet. Most likely one of my cousins." She cleared her throats and looked over to him. "What men like you and my father lack is warmth. Having a guy killed is a regular Monday morning for my father, and I'm not saying that needs to change." India closed her eyes momentarily, enduring to word this in a way where she thought Marcelo might see a value on her part.

"The women on this family, for generation after generation have reaped the benefits of the Castillo name. However, they forget the repercussions which the name holds." Indi had a feeling that everything she was saying was waiting over Marcellos head. "What keeps my fathers staff loyal to him, is their sense of security. As long as you are one of us, you are treated like loyalty. This sense of security however does not carry through to our clients, and without them, The entire operation implodes." She narrowed her eyes at him.

"Today was a test. My father has no sons, And I carry the Castillo name forward. Today, I granted Pierre a temporary spot under the wing of a Castillo. With that small act of compassion towards our clients, we are guaranteeing ourselves less chances of having a whistle blower in our midst. If you noticed, I gave Pierre €200 dollars leaving the restaurant. If he calls my father by tonight, and tells him he can have €200 dollars upfront before the rest of the payment comes through, he gets his two weeks. And if not? Then Poor Pierre loses everything dear to him, but Daddy is still down a grand." She shrugged, hoping he understood where she was coming from.

Info then looked Marcelo straight in the eye, leaning over a little closer to him, so close he could smell her perimeter on the breeze. "To answer your question in short? I insist on being part of this because if shit goes down, the Castillo name drags me down either way. I would at least like to have some sort of something to show for it." She sighed, trying to hold up her bravado in front of him. She had mostly told the truth. But there was also that little part of her that hope somebody would notice her, and pluck her from her life and just let her be normal for a day.

"Dis that answer your question Marco?"

"If I noticed?" Marcelo echoed Indigo's words, raising an eyebrow as his gaze swept over her. He was very nearly insulted by her choice of words, huffing as he sat back. Of course he had noticed something that minor. He bit back a sigh, forcing his shoulders to relax as he listened to Indigo continue to explain what her reasoning behind being involved with the crime that the Castillos were involved in. He knew that she didn't need to be, that she would always be cared for. That was the sort of luxury that was afforded to a mafia princess, so long as the Castillo name still held power.

Marcelo felt oddly sick to his stomach at the thought of Pierre losing everything. He wouldn't give a shit if it was only Pierre losing out but by the sounds of it, it would be the man's daughter who was sick and that was the worst part about it. Running his tongue over his bottom lip, Marcelo gave a nod of his head. "Not particularly. Having a record doesn't really bode well. That's all you'll have to show for it, if the Castillo name were to go down," he muttered with a roll of his shoulders. Marcelo wasn't here to argue politics of the game, not when he was involved himself but he thought her reason was a bit silly.

He wasn't a man that got attached to things, that let emotion get in the way of his decisions so he did his best to push away the idea of being worried over Pierre. Or rather over Pierre's daughter. Chewing on the inside of his lip, Marcelo was silent as they drove around the city. He laid his head back, resting it against the back of his seat as he listened to the sounds around them. His eyes were trained on the rearview mirror. Of course it was angled so it made it a bit more difficult for Marcelo to see out of it but he turned his head slightly and he was good to go. Lacing his fingers together, Marcelo rested them in his lap as his jaw clenched.

(I'm not sure where you want to take this atm so I don't want to take it in the wrong direction. Sorry it's so short Facepalm )

(I have no real direction in mind, other than them eventually getting together, so feel free to take it however you want! Sorry this is weak!)

Indi shook her head again as he spoke "No, you see... you're still not getting it. I'm a Castillo, whether I want to be or not. Do I want to be a brighter light within my family, offer a glimpse of hope to these people who we do business with. They are people with feelings just like you and I, and my aim is to make them feel less like pawns in my Father's game. You chose to be in this life, I wouldn't expect you to understand." She told him, her voice growing quieter. She stared out the window as her car pulled back in to the drive of the Castillo House.

She glanced across the car at Marcelo, he always looked so tense, always ready to pounce at any moment and it made Indi feel tense too. "God I need to get away from you for a bit" she sighed. As Romeo opened her door for her, she quickly strolled inside the house, leaving Marco to trail behind. Pulling out her phone to check her schedule she looked up to see if Marcelo had joined her on the room yet. "Okay, so I am meet Daddy for dinner at 5, but I'm free until then. So I'm gonna go to my room for a while, you can just, do whatever" she shrugged gently and began to head up the stairs. Pulling her phone from her pocket as she went.

"Are you here?" She sent quickly, checking her back.
"Yeah Maria let me in before you got back :)"

Indi smiles as she neared her bedroom door, knowing that Conor was inside. "I'm going for a nap, I'll see you at 4:30 before I meet Daddy" she told Marco, before slipping in to her bedroom. Once inside she smiled at the tanned boy who sat on her bed. He was the son of one of her Father's dealers, she enjoyed that he understood how it felt to be part of the mafia network. She sat on the bed and leaned forward to give him a kiss. It felt nice to have a little downtime. She lay back on the bed, her body pinned beneath his happily, his hands holding both of her wrists behind her head. She let out a happy squeal as she messed about with him.
