All I Need Is Time. [closed]

Cali tried to keep the smile on her face as he pulled her in close to him and took her hands in his. She could feel the hairs on the back of her neck beginning to stand, her armpits beginning to tingle in a nervous sweat. She didn't like how he was able to read her, that was her job. He wasn't wrong though, she could never strip, the thoughts of having that many men looking at her in that way made her feel sick to her stomach, He was wrong about her innocence though. At least she kept that well hidden.

It was as if the world stopped spinning when the following words left his mouth. She could feel her heart beat in her throat as she tried to come up with a response, trying hard to hide her shock for fear of angering him. It wasn't necessarily a fear of him, she had known applying for the job that she would be in the same room as murderers on a daily basis, it was more of a fear of how quick she had seen his temper to change, she did not want to end up on the receiving end of his anger once again. She could feel the colour drain from her face as she looked in to his eyes, embarrassed that her gut instincts on him were wrong. "I was raped by my best friend, nobody believed me because I had been so drunk. I thought I was drinking soda" she admitted to him quickly, using her admission as an excuse to sit back in her chair and gain some distance from him. Caroline was very aware of keeping her body language neutral so as not to alert him there had been a shift in power. She could tell there was more to him, or else her gut had it all wrong yet again. She knew to get to the bottom of it she would need to keep seeing him, and that couldn't happen if he wielded the power over her. "So there, I know and you know".

Danny frowned when she mentioned the person that hurt her. He shook his head, "You know what I would do to that guy if I saw him?" He asked her. He stopped, "I won't tell you what horrible things I would do to him because it would really mess with you." He said. He leaned forward again, "Just know that he would never hurt a delicate flower like you again." He told her. He could tell he was making her worry, "Am I making you upset?" He asked, a hint of emotion moved across his face. "I can stop talking if you want me to." He told her. He didn't want to hurt her feelings and make her upset. He actually liked her.

Caroline pulled her hair back off her face, quickly composing herself. "Yeah, let's maybe not talk about that any further, this is not my counselling session after all" she dismissed quickly, moving some papers around her desk. She knew the number one rule of psychiatry was to not get personal, and not show vulnerability and Cali had just thrown them right out the window. He had already messed with her head, and the image of him bludgeoning some poor guy with a sledgehammer was imprinted on her brain. "Is there anything else you would like to discuss Mr.Jackson?or shall we leave it there for today?" she asked, her lips pursing as she gave a quick glance over her notes on him. "If i would be alright with you Danny, I'd like to see you at the same time tomorrow? It's your choice, but I'll be here if you are willing".

She signalled to the guards to escort him back to his cell, waiting until he was outside of her office door before she let her face fall, burying her head in her hands. what had she just done? This was a man who truly seemed to have something more to him that she needed to get to the bottom of, and she had almost ruined it by allowing herself to be loose lipped.

Danny smiled, "Nope I think i'm good." He said. He nodded when she asked if she could see him again, "I think I would enjoy that." He said. He stood up when the guards pulled him up. "Have a nice day Caroline." He said before he was out the door. He got back to his cell and stretched once he was out of the handcuffs. He couldn't quit thinking about her that whole night. He hated that someone had hurt her. He shook his head, trying to fall to sleep.

The next day when it was time to meet with her he walked in. He sat down, waiting for her to enter. He hated that they acted like he would hurt her. He wouldn't hurt her. He didn't even want to think about hurting Caroline. His Caroline. Nobody was going to hurt her.

Caroline walked in to her office, a soft smile on her face as she looked and saw Danny in her chair. She was glad he had chosen to come back and see her today. She had spent the night looking through his files and even searching his name on google to see what she could find out that would help her put her finger on what exactly she was missing about him. She had been up sol ate last night, she had fallen asleep on the sofa surrounded by her files, and she was feeling a little worse for wear this morning.

"Good morning, how are you doing today?" she asked Danny, straightening her skirt before settling in to her chair. She placed the large cup of coffee that she so badly needed down in front of her, however it didn't seem so appealing seen as she wasn't allowed to carry it in to the office with her unless it had fallen below a temperature at which it could scald somebody. "Did you have some time to think over everything we spoke about yesterday?" she asked him, flicking open her notepad to begin taking notes once more. She felt really tired, and still not yet fully awake and aware of the goings on around her. She just knew she needed to stay more focused than yesterday.

Danny watched as she sat down and placed the coffee cup on the table. He looked her over, "I'm fine. Are you okay? You look tired." He said. "Perhaps talking to me will be too much for you." He explained. "I can wait if you'd like." He explained. He didn't want her to go without rest. Danny watched as she pulled her notepad out. "I mean I didn't really spend time thinking about yesterday. Well, I thought about you, but not the conversation." He said, smiling. He did think about how he would get to know her more and about how amazing she was. Even though he had just met her. "what do you want to talk to me about today?" He asked her.

Cali gave him a funny smile, confused as to why he cared whether she was tired or not. "No no, I'm Fine Danny, thank you. I was just up late getting everything prepared for today. You don't ever need to worry, if I'm not fit to be here, I won't be" she said, taking a large swig of coffee and smiling at him with her eyes over the rim of the cup.

She chose to ignore his statement about how he had thought about her, but not their conversation, although deep down it was nice to know a man who looked like Danny thought about her at all- Even if he was a convicted criminal. She knew there was a goodness to him, but it seemed to be overshadowed by something else, something that she couldn't wrapher head around. "Danny, I was hoping we could maybe speak about your loss of control yesterday? When you realised that I had taken control of the situation you lashed out and called me a bitch. What exactly was it that made you angry about what was going on?"she asked him, her head tilting to side kindly as she waited to hear his response, pen poised at the ready to begin taking notes.

Danny thought about what she had just asked him. He thought about the way he lashed out at her. It wasn't right of him to do that to her. "I don't like when someone tries to manipulate me like that." He said. "Usually when someone wants control of a situation they plan to use it against you. I like being in control so i can predict what happens next." He explained. He figured he would tell her what he felt. He looked at his hands in hand cuffs. He just wanted to get out of this hell whole. "You know what I really want right now?" He asked her. He smirked, "You ever been to that fancy bar and grill downtown called Mackie's?" He asked her. "They have those really good burgers and stuff. I could go for one of those burgers and a side of their french fries with the cheese and bacon in them." He said, chuckling. "That is what i have been thinking about today." He said, smiling at her. His teeth were pearly white unlike a lot of the inmates. He took care of himself and he stayed away from the hard drugs.

Caroline listened to him, leaning her head against her hand on the desk, nodding as he spoke. "Well thank you for being honest" she said, offering a gentle smile as she scribbled in to her notes. "I hope you know my plan was never to use it against you, however as part of my job i do need to stay in control of the room, right?" she asked him gently, trying to identify if he did understand how power dynamics were supposed to work, or did he always just expect to be on top.

She giggled gently as he told her all about the burgers he was craving, and she could feel her own tummy growing hungry at the thought of them. "No I've never been there, maybe I'll have to try it out sometime" she commented. She could tell from looking him over that he was the type who used jail as a training facility. his body was fit, and his teeth hair and skin all still looked quite healthy. "Do they do a good chicken burger there? I much prefer it to beef, my favourite is the grilled whopper from Phil's on Hudsen corner". She found it kind of sad that for many of these men, it wa sunlikely they would ever see the outside of these walls again.

"Do you regret what you've done Danny, or any other things you've done before you got yourself here?"

He nodded when she mentioned being in control, "Fine but don't tell anyone I let you have control over me." He teased her. Danny looked at her, "No you don't go there without me." He said, smirking. "Once i'm out I will take you there." He said. He knew she would probably never go with him and that he may never get out. He liked the idea of it though. "I have been to that place and they do have some good food." He said, smiling. When she asked if he regretted anything he shook his head. "No." He told her flatly. "I don't regret my decisions." He told her. "I do everything for a reason." He explained. "Do you regret things you've done before?" He asked her as he watched her hands on the table.

Cali laughed softly as he teased her "Okay I promise" she replied, wiggling her eyebrows at him momentarily, before coughing and bringing herself back to reality. She found herself treating this more like a conversation with a friend that a counselling session and she needed to catch on to herself lively before she let herself stray away from the objective like yesterday.

"Yeah sure, I regret lots of things I do. Sometimes it's instant, other times it takes a while for me to realise I was wrong. You really don't regret anything? there is nothing you've ever done that makes you feel embarrassed or guilty?" she pressed further, her eyebrows knitting together in worry as she placed her hands flat on the desk. For him to have no regrets whatsoever was worrying, it showed a lack of moral identity and character. "If you had been locked in solitary confinement over your outburst yesterday, you would not have regretted it?"

Danny nodded, "You know I do regret something." He said. He leaned in towards her once again, "I regret saying thise awful things to you yesterday." He said. "I don't regret telling those guards off though." He explained. "I don't regret anything else I did." He said. He had never felt anything for a person like he did for Caroline. She was something special. "Do you regret talking to me?" He asked her. "Did I scare you yesterday?" He asked. "I don't want you to be afraid of me." He added.

Cali found herself flattered by how much Danny cared for her wellbeing, she didn't think anyone had ever seemed so concerned that she felt comfortable before. "I don't regret speaking with you Daniel, it's my job, and I chose it because I want to try and help people in your position. You did spook me just a little, i hadn't thought you were such a temperamental person, but I guess we all have traits that surprise one another" she reassured him, giving his hand a re-assuring squeeze. She seemed to be breaking ground with him, if she could keep him on side she may actually make some progress.

"Is that what bothers you Danny? You don't like how people fear you?" she asked softly. Things were beginning to tie together a little bit, and she seemed to be gaining a little more insight in to how exactly his mind worked.

Danny looked at her hand as it rested over his. "No i want certain people to be afraid of me. If people weren't afraid of me then I would probably be dead right now." He said. He watched her, when she went to pull her hand away he grabbed it. He stared at her as he held her hand. Even with handcuffs on he was quick. "What trait do you have that will surprise me?" He asked. He pulled her towards him carefully, "I bet you have all kinds of things about you that would suprise me." He said, smirking.

Caroline let out a surprised "ooh" as he grabbed on to her hand, and shook her head towards the window to let the guards know she didn't need assistance. She was truly flattered by his caring nature, but she was worried she was strongly bordering on unprofessional allowing him to carry on as such. "Umm.. I don't know it's difficult to think of one. I guess I'm a highly disorganised person?" she suggested with a small laugh, patting his hand once more before pulling away to write some notes. "What makes your gang such an important part of your life?" she questioned him, asking more out of genuine curiosity than for her research. Danny seemed stubborn, and not likely to change his ways, but she knew moving him out of gang warfare would be a great start to moving him on in his mindset.

Danny chuckled, "Not what I meant sweetheart, but that will do." He said. He shrugged, "They have take care of me." He explained. "When I had no one they were there." He said. "I wouldn't suggest that life for anyone though." He said. "You either die early or you commit crimes til you spend your life in jail. That is how it works." He said. "I'm still not sure which one I am yet." He said, shaking head. He let his hands rest in front of him, not touching her. "Tell me something else about you." He said.

Cali sighed gently, shaking her head at him gently. "Should you get out of here, would you ever consider leaving that life behind you? starting a normal life and settling down?" she asked him, tapping the back of the pen against the paper on her desk. She briefly checked her watch, she still had 15 minutes left with him before her next client was due. She had to admit it was disappointing to let Danny go, her other conversations were much more square and uninviting than his.

"I don't know what to tell you Daniel, I really shouldn't even be speaking about myself" she told him gently shaking her head. "How about this, if you ask questions you think I will be comfortable answering you can go right for it, okay?"

Danny shrugged, "I don't know what I am going to do once i'm out of here." He said. He looked at her and nodded, "Alright." He agreed. He couldn't help but want to know more about her. He talked with her about some more stuff before their time was up. He watched as she got her things to leave, "Get some sleep tonight." He teased her. He watched as she left then let the guards take him out.

The next morning he was eating his breakfast and he sat the guy from the other day walk by. He went after him and began to beat the man. He only stopped when the guard pulled him off and restrained him. He frowned as the guard took him back to his cell and wrote him up. He knew he would get in trouble. He frowned when they mentioned Caroline having to come talk to him. He punched the brick wall a few times and stared at his bloody hand. As he waited for her to show up he did pull ups in his cell. He dropped down when he realized she was outside the metal door of his cell. He stood there shirtless, watching her as she spoke to the guard.

Caroline came in to work the following prepared for her meeting with Paul, One of the few inmates she had met since starting whom she believed truly belonged in a psych ward, but was dismayed to see their meeting had been crossed out in her book. Seen as Paul was quite high on her priority list, Cali was already in a bad mood as she questioned the warden on why he had been taken off her books when she was told what had happened and guided toward Danny's cell.

The heels of her boots clacked against the stone floor of the prison corridor as her jacket flew out behind her. She spoke heatedly with the guard who walked with her, urging her to leave her alone with Jackson as they spoke. She could see him working out in his cell as she came closer, the blood running down his arm from his damaged fist doing nothing to calm her temper. "Who do you think you are?" she demanded, entering his cell and crossing her arms before her. Standing next to him, she felt tiny. He truly was at least three times the width of her in muscle and a solid foot taller. She had never quite noticed as they were usually sitting. "I had to miss an important meeting this morning, to come and sort you out. Explain yourself, why did this man deserve to be beaten so badly he had to be sent to the infirmary?" she toldhim heatedly. She could feel her heart beating fast as she got angrier at him for being so stupid. "You realise this could effect your parole, right?"

Danny was kind of surprised when she came in his cell and yelled at him. He frowned, "He raped four girls under the age of twelve." He snapped back at her. "He was getting out in three days." He said. "That bastard is lucky he is still breathing." He said. He stepped towards her when she mentioned his parole, "Do you think I care?" He asked as he backed her into the wall. He slammed his hand against the wall by her head, "Huh!?" He yelled. "Do you? " He asked. He pulled away. "I told you I would get ahold of that guy and i did." He said. "Those guys that walk around in red outfits they aren't like everyone else. They are either rapist or child molesters." He said. He got in her face, "How many of them do you interview a day?" He asked. "I bet you were told they can be healed or whatever. that's bullshit." He said. "So when they come here we take care of them because this fucked up system wont." He snapped.
