Carly chuckled "Yes I do believe I caught a whiff of your cologne in a letter or two.. I quite enjoyed it. A very distinguished scent" she told him gently, twisting the phonechord around her finger. She didn't remember being so excited to talk on the phone since middle school, when their was no such thing as texting a friend to ask about the homework.

She grinned as he teased her, although feeling special to warrant such attention from him. "I'm kind of glad you don't want to use them,,, perhaps I'm mistaken but their was a slightly personal sense of nature to them, or at least that's how I felt" she admitted shyly, hoping he wouldn't be cross she was trying to dictate what he could and couldn't use in his own work.

Benjamin chuckled, "You started that young lady,' he teased. He paused, "are you at the office?" he asked her. He hated to think he was keeping her at work, when she could be at home enjoying herself.

'They were inspired by the image I had of you in my head, based of your delicitable perfume," he admitted. "So yes, they were intended to have a personal nature," he said lightly. "Which is why I don't want to use them in the new book," he said softly.

Carly laughed as he called her young lady, wondering how much younger than him she actually was. "Yeah I am, I figured I would try calling before I left... I was intrigued as to how your voice would sound" she admitted sheepishly, hoping he would not think her sad for being so excited to hear his voice. "Benjamin, I truly I am astounded to be able to communicate with you, My younger self would have never believed something like this could happen".

"I really do hope I can live up to the image you hold in your head, I worry you may see me and be disappointed" she said softly. In a way she felt she was catsishin him. In her letters she only ever really showed her outgoing, ambitious and somewhat flirtatious side of herself, what about everything else?

Benjamin smiled softly, "You must spend a lot of time in the office, If you're there this late," he said. He paused, "I hope my voice didn't disappoint, and I am enjoying speaking with you immensely," he said.

He looked out the window, "I'm sure that you will, you seem like you have a lot to say, and I like that you've challenged me, otherwise I would still be back in my small village, writing away just hoping my book would sell," he admitted.

"I wish to let you go, head home and have a drink, relax, unless you have anything else you need to add."

Carly laughed weakly "Yeah I pretty much eat sleep and breath Macmillan.I'm really lucky to have this job so I can't really complain" she told him pulling her hair back off her face as she listened, twirling from side to side in her chair. "Benji..man" she started, catching herself just on time "I don't think there is any way you could disappoint me. Your respect for your fans and the people who work for you is undeniable─ I really admire it". She frowned slightly as he said he would let her go, but looking at her watch she realised it was almost 8pm and she really should be going home.

"No I believe that's it for now, I'm sure I'll think of a million and one things once I hang up.. the beauty of conversation" she joked, beginning to pack up her things as she still held the phone to her ear. "I'll speak to you tomorrow?"

Benjamin smiled to himself, 'Well thank you Carly, I'm sure they're lucky to have you," he said lightly. He sat up on the bed more.

"I'm sure you will, but don't stress about it, we can discuss them tomorrow, please go home and enjoy yourself," he said softly. He chuckled lightly, "I look forward to hearing from you tomorrow, and seeing you later this week." He was anxious not sure what to expect when they met.

Carly packed up all her things and head home. There she poured herself some wine and sat down in front of the tv, deciding to rewatch the final episode of Game of Thrones, she couldn't get Benjaamin out of her head, his voice was on repeat in her head throughout the whole evening.

When she finished the episode, Carly headed to her room and pulling out the letters from underneath her bed. Searching for his first excerpt he had sent her, she eventually pulled it out, taking in a sniff of his wonderful scent and getting to read it in his voice. Before she had even fully realised what she was doing, Carly found herself laying back on the bed, her hand slowly reaching in to her jeans beginning to pleasure herself to the thought of him.

Benjamin heard the phone go dead, and assumed she had hung up. He put the phone back on the side table. He climbed off the bed, still replaying the conversation over in his head.

He sat back down by the table and continued to go over the entries, picking out the winners. When he had a reasonable pile, and some extras in case any of the entrants couldn't make it, he sat back.

He reached into his luggage and pulled out one of the letters from her, that had her scent on it, and read over it. The combination of her voice in his head and her smell, got his mind racing. He turned to his typewriter and began typing out another small piece for her. This one was clearly more erotic in nature, but wasn't obvious about it. He made reference to some of the comments made between them on the phone. He folded it gently, added a touch of his cologne and slipped into his jacket, he wanted to give it to her in person.

Once the following morning rolled around, Carly got up and ready for work, a newfound happy demeanour radiating off of her. She was generally a happy go lucky type of person, but today was all new levels of joy. She had decided to have a little something sent over to Benjamin and began organising it once she got to the office.

Read a short letter attached to a basket which included a jar of her favourite coffee, some pastries from her favourite bakery, a small bunch of Peonies wrapped in newspaper from the small florists across the road and a leather bound notebook, full with a range of poems about the city among several other things. She smiled as she got started on her day, looking forward to being able to call him again later.

Benjamin had slept well that night. When he woke, he went to work on small one page stories, based off the pictures and stories of his favourite entries. He was working at that all morning.

He was mad when one of the hotel employees interrupted him with the basket of goodies, but thanked him anyway. His mild annoyance disappeared when he read the note. He carefully went through the basket, smelling the flowers, and trying the pastries.

He made his way out onto the balcony of his room, and sat down to read the collection of poems. He got lost in them, and kept reading well into the evening.

By the evening, Carly could feel the joy draining from her body. It had been a particularly long and stressful day. All she wanted was to get home, change into pyjamas and have a glass of wine, if not two. Just as she settled on to the couch, she realised she had completely forgotten to call Benjamin and see if he had received her package. She worried it may be too late to bother him.

Benjamin made his way inside as the sun began to set. He lay on the bed by the phone. He was hoping Carly would call him again today, and was beginning to feel mildly sad, that she hadn't already rung. He tried to stay positive figuring she would call when she made it home.

After another glass of wine, Carly's inhibitions had flown out the window and quickly dialled his hotel from her mobile, pulling her feet up under her on the sofa as she waited to hear his voice pick up.

"Benji, Hey it's Carly'' she spoke happily in to the phone. ''Did you get my parcel?''

Benjamin heard his phone ring, and it brought a smile to his face. He answered it after only one ring. He chuckled softly, "Evening Carly, I did thank you for sending it," he said softly.

He was slightly confused that she'd called him Benji, but he let it slide. "I've spent most of the day reading those poems you sent," he admitted. He sat back getting relaxed, "So how was your day?" he asked

She4 was pleased to hear him pick up so fast, had he been waiting for her call? "My day was very long and very stressful, and I need it to be the weekend already" She said, being purposefully over-dramatic before adding a little giggle at the end.

"Which poem is your favourite? Mine is Patience Agbabi's 'The London Eye'" she informed him, shifting slightly on the sofa so that she was laying down.

Benjamin sat back getting comfortable. He was in his sleeping attire, a loose singlet and boxers. He chuckled at her comment about work, "well maybe I shouldn't come in tomorrow if you're not going to be there," he said lightly.

He thought for a moment, "that poem was really good, probably my second favourite, after T. S. Eliot's, 'The Waste Land,". He said rolling onto his side, "It just seemed so honest, and it stuck me," he commented.

He was honestly trying to picture her, having already picked up that she had been drinking a little bit.

Carly sat up a little straighter on the sofa "Do we have a meeting tomorrow?" she asked him, brushing her hair back off her face. She obviously would be at work tomorrow- When was she not. But she had not prepared to be meeting Benjamin Prescott so soon.

She listened to him smiling as he described his favourite poem, Chuckling slightly that she was casually discussing poetry with her childhood hero. "Yeah that one is great, I guess a part of me never fully understood Elliot, I was always more of a Donne fan" she admitted, criss crossing her legs underneath her as she took another sip of wine.

"So what time am I seeing you tomorrow?"

Benjamin sighed softly, holding the phone to his ear. "Not a planned one, I just wanted to pop in if that is alright," he said lightly. He looked over at his bag, randomly wondering what he should wear.

He nodded slightly, "yeah I can understand that, Elliot isn't the easiest to fully grasp, but I'm sure if you gave it time, you would surpass may understanding of him," he commented.

"I was thinking a little before lunch, maybe if you have time I can take you to lunch," he said softly.

Carly felt both excited and nervous to be meeting Ben tomorrow, she knew she needed find the perfect outfit and get ready though. "Yeah that's fine, pop on in, I can show you around, maybe show you the printing process or something?" she offered, standing up and moving in to her bedroom, flicking through her wardrobe.

She found herself slightly offended that he didn't think she fully understood Elliot. "I actually wrote part of my Dissertation on his poetry, I just don't particularly enjoy it" she commented, lightly pursing her lips together, although she really couldn't stay annoyed for too long.

Benjamin smiled lightly, "I would really enjoy that," he admitted quietly. He heard her rustling something but didn't mention it.

"Oh sorry, I didn't know that, I'm sure you are a much better expert on Elliot than me then," he admitted. He could hear the hint of hurt in her tone. He was worried that he had offended her greatly.

Benjamin chuckled softly, "I'm glad you are keen, I'm looking forward to meeting you, but I was intending the purpose being less formal, we can talk about the business stuff later in the week," he commented.
