"Can you tell if he's okay Heimdall? Have you spoken to him at all?" Layla asked quietly as she stood inside the cave with him and all of the Asgardians they'd been able to save so far. If you had asked her, she'd tell you, this was not how Layla had expected to spend her time. She hadn't expected to be separated from the man she loved because he was off who knew where thanks to his psycho sister. She hadn't expected her first time on Asgard to be without him while she spent her time trying to save his people either. But sometimes things didn't go as we'd like them to. "I'm just worried about him is all. And all of us. I mean I'm not a Goddess. I'm just Layla Meadows from New York," she told him Heimdall knowing fully well that she'd fight to the death to protect herself and the people behind her in this cave if it came down to it.

Heimdall smiled over at the girl and rested his hand on her shoulder. "I was able to speak to him briefly. He was far away, but he was okay. And I've known Thor for a rather long time and if there's anything I know for sure about him is that he'll be back. He won't give up on his people, or you the woman he loves unless he's dead. We just have to have faith. And for now, the best thing we can really do is make sure these people are safe. So are you ready to go try and sneak some more people out or would you like to sit this one out?" He asked her fully able to see the fight in her that he knew Thor also saw. She may have seems scared, but everyone was, yet that hadn't stopped her from doing everything she could to help people who weren't even her people. One day Heimdall was sure she'd be a wonderful queen for Asgard. "Let's go," she told him with a nod before they left to cave to go save some more people.
Steve sighed as he walked around the bunker they'd been laying low in. Honestly since the falling out with Tony things had been hard. Steve did hate how things had ended, but at the same time even if he could go back and change how things went he wouldn't. Steve wasn't going to compromise who he was or what he believed in because someone else thought he should. Did he hate that he'd kept things from Tony that he knew would upset him, yes. But Steve hadn't done it out of spite or to be cruel. He'd done it because he thought ht was protecting Tony and Bucky. His best friend hadn't been himself when he'd done some of the things he'd done. And while that might not have been a good enough excuse for someone else, Steve knew Bucky and he knew that his friend wouldn't have done what he did if he'd been himself, and not a mind controlled soldier for HYDRA.

It didn't help at all that he'd basically had to go on the run because he was fugitive, and he couldn't bring Ashley into this. A part of him really wanted to. He wanted her there with him because he'd thoroughly enjoyed getting to know her. She'd made him feel normal and in a world where he felt anything but normal, it was nice to have that. Plus it was just nice to have something special with someone again. He hadn't really had anything special like that with a woman since Peggy really, and sadly that was long gone so it was time to move on anyway. Really he hadn't even been given a chance to have anything with Peggy, so getting another chance to have something special was nice. Of course, he couldn't ask her to come along. Steve couldn't ask her to give up everything to go on the run with him because he'd be asking her to put herself in danger for him and that was selfish. So he'd written her a letter to say his goodbyes. He just hoped that it would actually work and she wouldn't come looking for him. That made him laugh a little honestly because a part of him knew she would come looking for him. He just hoped she wouldn't because he didn't want her to get hurt.

Ashley had been pissed, really pissed, when Steve took off the way he had. He only left her a note saying sorry and goodbye. She could've killed him if she had known where he was going. Ashley had loved the time she spent with Steve, and she could probably admit to anyone but him that she had been falling in love with him, but then he left her with nothing but a note. She had cried for a little bit, but then she just got angry because who just leaves a damn note?! So, Ashley used all of her power at SHIELD, and at her home, and managed to track down the area that Steve had been hiding out. She was going to get to the bottom of this, but in all honesty, she just wanted to see him again.

Which is why she found herself knocking on the door of a strange apartment in a country she had never been before. He better open up. Ashley thought to herself as she stood there, adjusting the straps of her backpack. She wasn't planning on going back to the States any time soon, but she just packed the things she needed. She could always get more clothes if need be. She knew that Steve would probably try and turn her away to protect her. After all, it was the whole reason why he had only left her a note, and Ashley knew that, but she was a big girl and could take care of herself. All she wanted was to be with Steve.

    ---

Thor missed her so much. Ever since he woke up on this planet, she had been on his mind. She was his soulmate, and all he wanted was to see her again. He had spoken with Heimdall and found out that they were helping Asgardians hide in safety from his sister. Thor was beyond proud of Layla for helping Heimdall and the Asgardians. She had adjusted so quickly to them, and Thor was so thankful for that. He couldn't have asked for a better soulmate in his opinion. She was a fighter, and Thor loved that about her. She didn't give up at all, and Thor was grateful. The two hadn't known each other very long, but they had gotten close fast, and Thor truly cared for her with his entire heart.

This planet was strange, and Thor feared for himself, but he knew he would be able to make it back to Asgard. He had to. He had to defeat his sister. He had to save his people. His sister didn't really care for the Asgardians, and Thor knew that, so he had to get off this planet and protect them. He had already failed everyone at this point by letting Loki rule them for as long as he did, and now he had to prove himself once again by defeating his sister. First he had to figure out how to get off this planet and then actually get off this planet.

Steve pushed his fingers through his hair and sighed when he heard a knock at the door. "I think we both know who that is," Natasha said resting her hand on Steve's shoulders. "It was only a matter of time before she found us, which probably means that we're going to have to move again soon. But Sam and I will give you guys a minute," she told him before motioning for Sam to follow her out of the room so Steve could go and answer the door. He didn't want to face this. He didn't want to open the door and see Ashely standing on the other side waiting for an explanation. Did that make him a coward? Yes, it probably did in this regard, but he'd done what he felt was right in regards to her. Steve didn't want to drag an innocent woman into his mess. He didn't want her to choose this. Steve wanted her to have a nice happy life with a man she loved who could give her everything she wanted in life. And honestly, he hadn't thought that was him. Not now, not with all the shit going down right now.

But Steve knew he couldn't be a coward anymore. Not when she was standing on the other side of the door likely waiting for an answer. There was no way he'd be able to escape out of this tiny little building without her tracking him down again, and probably a lot sooner. So he took a deep breath and tried to calm himself down as much as possible before he opened the door ready for whatever wrath he might be getting.
Layla pushed her fingers through her hair as they walked another herd of people into the caves. Honestly, she didn't know how much longer they could keep this up. There was no way they were going to defeat Hela, not without Thor so she truly was hoping that wherever he was that he made his way back them all soon. Layla didn't plan on giving up without a fight, no matter what that meant for her, but of course, she did hope to come out victorious.

"How much longer do you think we can keep this up? Hiding everyone out here I mean? Because surely Hela know's by now that something's up, and there's no way that can end well," Layla said to Heimdall hoping that he'd have a comforting answer, and even if he didn't she hoped that he'd give her one because that's what she needed right now. She needed something to spark up her hope that they were all on a total suicide mission. If they were though maybe she'd like to know so she could try and find some way to bring herself some happiness before it was all over. But she didn't want to think like that really.

Ashley adjusted her footing as she waited for Steve to answer the door. She wasn't even sure if he would if she was being honest. He had no reason to answer the door for her, but he owed her an explanation, and that alone was enough to drive Ashley to come out here. When she heard the door open, she looked up, and all of her previous anger had washed away completely at the look on his face. She couldn't believe that she was finally seeing him again after all these months of her searching, "Hey." She spoke softly as she looked up at him in a small daze. Ashley could have smacked herself for not coming up with a better greeting than hey.

Thor knew that he had to get back to Asgard, and it needed to happen quickly. His people's lives were at stake. Layla's life was at stake. He knew that she would try to hold her own with the Asgardians, but he knew that she wouldn't have as much power as they would, but he knew she would be damned if she didn't try. It was one of the things he loved most about her. She was willing to help out no matter what the situation was. Thor started to quickly devise a plan to get back to Asgard, and he knew it was going to to be the worst way possible. That portal didn't look as easy going as the other ones, but he knew that it was the one to get him back to Asgard.
