As We Do

Aubree was afraid of this, she had spent years avoiding the Avengers and the government. Now here she was running from them, the very thing she was avoiding. Someone had tipped them off, she had to look after her friend as well. Aubree has powers that her friend didn’t and she wasn’t going to protect Lillian at any cost. She looked at her biting her lip, “You sure you want to split up? I know I can always find you with my hearing but I still don’t know if I want to leave you alone.” Once they agreed they went their separate ways for the time being. Aubree knee she couldn’t fly, they’d spot her quick, so running was the next best thing.

Steve and Tony decided to separate from the rest of then group, looking for the inhumans or mutants was quite the task. He wasn’t sure how difficult this was going to be, he hoped they weren’t hostile. More for the sake of innocent lives, he sighed softly and looked at his best friend. “All right, Buck, you can follow Natasha to get the other girl, they had split up for some reason, once we find them let’s try to talk to them all right? It all goes well we’ll meet up at base. Good luck.”

Lilian sighed as she pulled her hoodie over her hair then looked down, she'd been hiding for a long time - but she couldn't miss work. She didn't get a degree in medicine just to hide all the time. Her entire life she'd wanted nothing more than to be a doctor - and now she was working her way there. Graduating high school at fourteen and starting college immediately - she was the youngest in her field. Which is how Tony Stark found her intially - her IQ through the roof she only started showing signs of being a mutant half way through her pre med. Now a full year into her residency, she didn't know how much longer she could stay under the radar.

He nodded, "If it doesn't go well? Do we make them come?" he asked as he looked at his friend curiously, it'd been made clear that they needed both of them. Though somehow they'd been evading them, which was something he wasn't used to. Normally finding people was a matter of Stark using his fancy technology - but with these two it was like they knew when they were coming. They were a disadvantage.

Aubree was sitting in a tree taking a break from running from the Avengers. She thought about how easily it would be to stop them, after all she was strong, fast and had other abilities as well. She healed quickly had laser vision,nice breath, basically invincible. She didn't want people to be afraid of her though, Aubree didn't want to hurt anyone. If she hurt the Avengers she'd be wanted, so her only option was to run.

Steve sighed softly running a hand through his hair, "we gotta try talking to them first, if they choose not to listen then..." Steve was cut off by Tony. "Then we fight, I'm sure they don't want that these people haven't showed signs of aggression or violence but we'll see when we come across." Steve patted Bucky's back, "we'll meet up again hopefully soon."

As she looked at the chart of one of her patients she sighed tell the nurse what he needed before signing off on it. The idea that they wanted her on their side so badly baffled her - she'd traveled, bounced around for weeks before nearly giving up; she didn't want anything to do with them, with their cause. All Lilian wanted was to live a normal life - not be apart of their crusade.

Bucky nodded - it seemed like a good plan but he didn't want to cause a scene. That was the last thing they needed , more drama, more lives lost. It seemed counter intuitive to blackmail people in to their cause; what happened to democracy. Was this no different that what had happened to him? With less brain washing of course.

Aubree knew how much SHIELD and the Avengers wanted to recruit her. She was powerful and could cause massive destruction if she wanted to. Aubree wasn’t going to do that, she was a good person and all she wanted was put her abilities to good use, on her own terms. She wasn’t going to let them get her. Nope. Not SHIELD or Hydra. She was on her own and it was going to stay that way.

Steve wished them luck and followed Tony to get this woman whose intelligence could make Tony look bad. He found that amusing. Steve sighed, “let’s not scare her, we really shouldn’t force someone to going our team,” he told him. Tony wasn’t having that, “I’m more worried about the girl with all that power, we can’t let’s Hydra get to either of them. From my understanding this, Lillian is good friends with Aubree...”

She continued her shift and when it was time for her to clock out she made her way to the locker room pulling the hoodie on over her head then sighed. She grabbed her wallet and began to walk out of the hospital, she wanted nothing to do with whatever SHIELD wanted her for , she'd been evading them for just over a year now, with most sucess due to Aubree.

Bucky looked to Natasha, "Do you think she'll put up a fight?" he asked as he looked at her hoping the red head would tell him no, but he knew they'd been tailing both women for a while. Somehow they'd managed to evade them . "If they're persistent; then probably," she said to her sighing.

Aubree was sitting by a river trying to get herself together, it had been a difficult journey. She wasn’t giving up though, nope. She was going to get through this and was going to help Lillian. Just when she thought she was alone Aubree stood up, “I know you’re out there so you might as well come out. Fair warning though, I’m not going with you.”

Steve followed Tony as they got closer to one of the women they were searching for. He hoped he could convinced them to join them, Steve didn’t want to fight them. He wasn’t sure if they’d be hostile or frightened but he wanted to help them.

A long sigh escaped her as she walked back to her apartment - she hadn't been there in a couple of days just to throw them off. She slowed as she unlocked her door then turned to look down the hallway, "How'd you find me?" she asked softly as she looked at them furrowing her brow, "Can't you just leave me alone,"

Bucky looked at Natasha who spoke first, "We just need you this once, it's important - a lot of people could die," she said to her lightly as she stood next to him.

"I wouldn't be here if it weren't important," he admitted as he rubbed the back of his neck - he wanted nothing more than to be done with all this.

Steve didn’t want to upset the young woman, “we’ve been trailing you for a few days, I’m sorry but we need your assistance.l” he sighed. “We’re hoping you could help us just this once.”

Aubree whipped around her eyes red from the heat Ray, she was annoyed, she managed to cool down, “that’s what HYDRA and SHIELD said too.. and they’ve been trailing me for weeks.”

"Just this once? You know I don't believe that for one second, its this time and then it'll be next time - there will never be a just once." Lilian knew that much and she didn't appreciate being lied to, though giving Captain America's traits, maybe he didn't know. "I'm not going to be some pawn in your war I'm useless. I can't fight, or use weapons, I'm not a weapon," she told them softly. Being a mutant was never easy - she'd kept it hidden even when they'd wanted them to register.

Bucky shook his head, "I was forced to work with Hydra myself, I would never put someone in that situation to be a slave to organization like that," he said to her honestly as he thought about his past - the last thing he wanted was for her to think thats what this was. It wasn't was it? He looked to Nat for a moment then back to her. "Please come with us," he murmured as he looked at his phone. "They've already found Lilian," he told her.

Tony was getting ready to say something to her and Steve stopped him, Steve knew Tony wasn’t good at talking to people, new recruits especially. Steve walked closer to the girl, “i can’t say for sure that it’ll be just once, given our record but we would like to have your assistance, i know we’re asking a lot of you, and i guess if you really don’t want to do it you don’t have to—“ was cut off by Tony, “what do you mean! That’s why—“ Steve cut him off again. “Tony, you can not force her or anyone else into helping our cause, I just thought maybe she’d want to do it on her own. That’s why I came with you.” He turned back to the young woman, “just think about it, you can be helpful with the healing abilities, you don’t have to fight, just help the people who are hurt. If you want. If by I guess Tony and I will find another way,” Tony didn’t like where this was going, “I think Natasha and your old war buddy got to her friend...”

Aubree sighed and looked between Bucky and Natasha, she was prepared to fight her, while he just stood there. No stance to fight her, just talking and she appreciates that he didn’t treat her like such a monster. She cleared her throat, “of course they found her, that’s my kind of luck.” She walked over to James, “James Barnes right? Fought in World War 2. Yeah I know who you both are and I gotta say I’m more impressed with Barnes.” She crosses her arms. “Fine, I’ll go with you, but I’m only doing this because you cornered my friend and I won’t let her be a defenseless.”

She looked at him then sucked her teeth, "My abilities are what make me good at my job, I'd like to keep that a secret - last thing I need is to get into trouble at work for hiding my powers," she said as she looked between them. Lilian was tired - she'd worked a 24 hour shift and had been on call for 48 - she loved her job but she was beat. "Look I've been awake for the last twenty eight hours, which is the only reason I haven't slipped you yet,"

"Our goal isn't to hurt her or you for that matter," he said shaking his head, "We just need her abilities to help us map things out," he said to her shrugging a bit. He didn't know a whole lot about the other girl, seeing as how she didn't have defensive powers only something to do with mapping which he still didnt quite understand.

Steve let out a sigh, walking over to Lillian, “we’re not here to recruit you, we just need your help finding someone. That’s it. It’s your friend who would come in handy. The other two are already with her. Just,.. think about it. We mean to harm.”

Aubree frowned watching those two walking over to them, “so you think using my friend is something you’re okay with? She’s does good for the world without having to be part of some government team. We are entitled to our freedom. She’s might be defenseless but I can fly to her real quick. I’m not going to let anyone harm her.” She was face to face with the Wintee Soldier, “I’ll go through your whole team if you hurt my friend.”
