I had my first good dream
    Now that you're haunting me
    Here in between the sheets
Right where our two worlds meet
    This must be the hour
    Right before the daybreak
Leave behind the coldest blue ache
I had my first good dream
Now that you're here with me

Callie maneuvered the car carefully through the neighbourhood, looking to her sister, Eva, in the passenger seat. "So, is it just me, or is 21 just not as exciting as we were expecting?" She chuckled, parking up her Volkswagen Beetle in the space in front of their house. It was a surburban heaven, complete with a large garden and picket fence.

Dean Winchester sat down at the table in the diner with two of the local newspapers. "Alright, so not much information from the boss of this place," he explained to Sam, still dressed in his FBI suit. "But 21 years ago, today, there was a set of twins that were supposedly murdered, but no bodies ever recovered?" Dean frowned. "Just doesn't make sense."

"It definitely isn't," Eva admitted, making a slight face, though she looked mildly amused afterwards. "Though, honestly, I'm not really sure what I was expecting. It's just... A milestone, I guess?" She shrugged gently, unsure, but looked to their house for a long moment, staring at it. "I guess a part of me is kind of bummed that we're still here, at 21. We should be breaking free by now." Shaking her head with amusement, she moved to climb out of the car.

"Huh... Any names for the twins?" Sam asked with curiosity as he was looking through some files. "Because, the last few victims, according to newspapers that were dated 21 years ago from the days they died, were all already supposed to be dead, so maybe the twins is the next stop for... Whatever the hell's going on here?" He arched a brow, looking to his brother with curiosity. "If the twins are actually still alive when they were announced to have already been dead, that is."

"I don't know, I was expecting alcohol, more than anything." Callie chuckled. "The movies make it seem so amazing." Aiming a smile at her twin as she exited the Bug, Callie nodded in agreement. "I know. Maybe we're just destined to be those housewives we promised ourselves we'd never be." Callie said overdramatically, following her twin (who was, begrudgingly, older by ten minutes) up the garden path.

"Twins born in that year, there was only one set." Dean said. "Celestia and Evangeline Lewis, they don't live too far from here, maybe about a ten minute drive?" Dean looked across the table to Sam, who was clearly trying to work out things. "Maybe there's been a deal made. Some sort of sacrificial ceremony. If that's the thing, we gotta move before someone is killed." Dean frowned.

"Well, we could always go get alcohol," Eva joked lightly, grinning slightly, "Though I think that will be a lot of trial and error to find something we'd actually like." She couldn't help but to be amused with the thought, but she shook her head as she shifted, hooking her arm through her twin's as they walked. "Ugh, housewiving sounds like such a difficult job, though. I'm half certain I'd be exhausted 24-7."

Sam nodded with the mention of it as he stood up, gathering his things. "Then, what are we waiting for?" he asked, packing it all up so that they could get going. "Although we'll have to figure out what exactly we're dealing with if we want to save anybody." Because, even if they managed to save the girls, if something big was going on and there was some kind of sacrificial ceremony, then who knew how many other people were on the line?

"I don't know, Eva, I heard whiskey was something magical." Callie shrugged, gladly accepting her twin's arm linked through her own. "I'm half certain I'd tell my husband to get off his lazy ass every five minutes." Callie shook her head in amusement as they reached the front door. Looking back at Eva, Callie pushed it open, to reveal darkness. "Holy hell, it's dark." Callie struggled to find a light switch, but once she found one, the light just wouldn't turn on. "Uh, Eva?" She asked, confused.

"Do you remember when we worked that sacrifice case, all those years ago?" Dean asked as he slid into the drivers seat of Baby. "The offerings are usually left somewhere isolated and the God comes to collect them. So, we're looking for something along the lines of a basement or cellar, and we need to find out what kills this thing." Dean frowned. "Call Bobby, maybe he's found something by now." Dean sighed. He always got easily frustrated with not knowing the answer to every case. He started the short drive to the neighbourhood where the Lewis' lived.

"We will buy ourselves birthday whiskey," Eva joked lightly, grinning as she peered over at her sister, amused. As they got into the house, though, she paused with confusion. "Okay... That's, uh... Not creepy at all..." she tried carefully, feeling herself tense slightly despite her words. "A part of me is tempted to be like every idiot girl in horror films who call out 'hello' and the other half is telling me we should call an electrician or something." She looked to her sister, unsure.

Sam nodded and reached for his phone as he climbed into the car, calling up Bobby. "Yeah, I remember all of that," he said, "Feels like forever ago at this point, though."

"Sam, I was just about to call you," Bobby mentioned when he answered, staring down at a book with a frown.

Sam blinked with the mention of it. "Great, does that mean you've got something?" he asked.

"I wouldn't have almost called if I didn't have something, idgit," Bobby said easily in response, "There was a sacrifice, Ver Sacrum. Sacrifices made to a God in the Spring 21 years after a deal for healthy, plentiful crops is made, where those born in the Spring after the deal get sacrificed. It fits what you idgits have told me about the case, but Ver Sacrum was only assumed to be actual sacrifices, there wasn't ever any proof."

"Okay, but if it's a God, then there's a way to stop it, to kill it, right?" Sam asked, "So even if the sacrifices weren't proven, there's a way to kill it?"

"Yeah," Bobby assured, "With a stainless steel knife that's been dipped in the soil of the crops."

Sam nodded with the mention of it. "Thanks, Bobby," he said before hanging up and looking to Dean, filling his brother in quickly.

Callie frowned, stepping further into the living room. "I'll be the idiot," she volunteered, half amused, half scared. "Mom? Dad?" She called out, treading lightly through the living room. "Hello?" She called, suddenly being grabbed from behind. "EVA!" Callie tried to struggle against her captor. "Run!" she shouted, not being able to see behind her to check if her twin was safe.

"A stainless steel knife... dipped in dirt..." Dean blinked. "Is it me, or is that too easy?" He frowned, turning into the neighbourhood. "Alright, the house is called Sunshine Valley." Dean informed Sam as he eased his foot from the gas pedal, slowing Baby down to a reasonable speed. Seeing an isolated house at the end of the street, painted pure white, Dean frowned. "I think I found it."

Eva froze in fear when she heard her sister shout. Despite that Callie had told her to run, she couldn't bring herself to move, and she wasn't sure if it was because of her fear or if it was because of her concern for her sister. But, then, she acted on almost instinct and rushed further into the house instead of away from it. "Callie?" she called out with concern, panicking, reaching through the darkness until she gripped onto something - somebody, who was definitely too tall to be Callie. Panic settled further and she screamed when she got grabbed, though her mouth was then quickly covered, while their captors began dragging them off, down to the basement.

"Is it weird that plain white houses are creepy in areas like this?" Sam asked, staring at the house for a long moment before he quickly climbed out of the car. "Alright, do you see any crops around here?" He looked around, not spotting any himself - but, if there weren't any around at all, that meant that they'd have to get the girls to a safe place, then deal with whatever god this was. Moving to the trunk, he grabbed out a gun anyways, in case he needed it against whoever was taking the victims to be sacrificed, and grabbed one of their knives, in case either of them spotted crops to dip the knives in. "Ready?" He looked to his brother, wanting to do this fast, hopeful they weren't too late.

Callie tried to resist the person who held her into the chair as she and Eva were tied down, back to back. Unable to speak to the gag, all Callie could do was listen to the captors, disguised by the dim light, talking in hushed tones among themselves. "He'll be here soon," she heard one of them say. "They'll be gone within the hour." Her eyes widened at that piece of information, swallowing the lump of fear in her throat.

"Totally not." Dean agreed with his brother. "I don't see any... like, vegetables? I don't see anything, but something's telling me that something's going down." Dean led the way up to the house, his hand around the handle to his own gun. Opening the door slowly, Dean aimed his gun and turned the corner, hearing hushed voices from below them, in the basement. Dean put a finger to his lips to hush Sam, indicating to the door that led down to the basement, hinting for Sam - who was more armed than Dean - to go first.

Eva could feel the fear welling up inside of her and her eyes watered slightly as she listened to the voices around them. In that moment, all she wanted was to hold her sister's hand, let her know that, whatever happened, they'd go through it together, but with them being back to back, they couldn't even do that. "The sooner this is over with, the sooner we can move on from it," another voice said quietly, clearly just wanting to finish the deal they'd made.

Sam frowned when he heard the hushed voices. Looking to his brother, he nodded before he moved to the door, opening it as quietly and as carefully as he could.

Below, the noise still caught some attention. "Is that him?" one of the voices asked, shocked, "It's too early, we shouldn't be here." Listening to them, Eva could feel her panic growing, her fingers curling against the arms of the chair.

Sam, listening to what he could hear of the conversation, looked back to Dean, just for a moment, to make sure his brother was still with him, before he focused his attention ahead as he began the descent down into the basement, his gun held at the ready. When they got closer to the bottom, though, he saw a small group of people and two girls tied to chairs - the twins, he assumed. "Don't move," he warned the group firmly, glaring at them.

Callie stayed silent, not wanting to anger whoever was holding them in the basement even more. She couldn’t help but wonder who this person who was supposedly coming was. He sounded callous, cruel, and Callie found herself trying to speak through the gag, only for her to go unnoticed.

The two captors, and the sight of the guns, raised their arms in surrender, their faces hidden by black balaclavas, both of them willing to listen to the Winchester’s.

Dean made his way to the girls, untying and ungagging them one by one, starting with Eva. “Evangeline and Celestia Lewis?” He asked, Callie nodding in confirmation. “Come on, we gotta get you girls somewhere safe.” He led them to the stairs, still pointing his pistol at the captors. “Don’t move.” He warned. “One step and we’ll kill you.”

"You don't understand what you're doing," one of the captors tried, but they stayed in place, watching begrudgingly.

Sam ignored what the captors said, backing up to the stairs, his gun still raised before he looked back to the girls. "There's a black Impala outside. Get to it, climb inside," he informed them, wanting to make sure they got to safety first, since he and Dean would have to be slower to getting up the stairs and to the car, since they'd have to keep the captors, whoever they were, at bay. His attention settled back on the captors as he kept walking backwards up the stairs, figuring they could close the door behind them to buy them time.

Eva swallowed thickly as they were ushered up the stairs and she quickly reached for Callie's hand, tugging her along gently. She nodded to the instructions, wanting to thank these guys for doing this, but not finding the strength to in that moment. Instead, she quickly rushed up the stairs, pulling Callie with her gently so they could get to the car.

Dean frowned. “Think they’d make a good sacrifice, you bastards? They’re 21 and they’ve got their whole damn lives in front of them. Sacrifice yourselves instead.” Dean snapped, aiming his gun in between the eyes of the man who had been nearest to Evangeline. “Don’t. Move.” He warned. “Stay there.” Dean came back to the main part of the house, lowering his gun. “Lock the door after you, Sammy.” Dean frowned.

Callie rushed up the stairs with Eva leading the way. Once they were exposed to the open air, Callie tried to calm her shaking hands. “What the hell was that about? Why were we going to be dead in the hour?” She asked, pushing her hair from her face in despair. “We were going to be killed!” She saw the black Impala, dragging Eva towards it. Opening Eva’s door first, Callie made sure she was safe, choosing the seat behind the passenger seat.

Sam nodded as he quickly locked the door behind them before he breathed out a sigh. "We've gotta get them somewhere safe, Dean," he said, though he wasn't sure how this god worked, whether it would be able to track the girls in some way. Still, he frowned, quickly leading the way out to the Impala. "Why were they wearing those things over their faces? Usually, if somebody's going to be a part of killing, they don't bother hiding their faces, because it won't matter if their victims see them because they're going to die."

"I don't... I don't know," Eva murmured, rubbing at her face as she leaned back in the seat, trying to calm down as she took deep breaths in and out. Looking at her sister, she watched her for a long moment, concerned. "Are you okay?" Shifting, she reached for Callie's hand again, giving it a squeeze, needing the contact more than anything to make sure that Callie was there and safe, that neither of them were alone.

“I don’t know,” Dean grouched, straightening out his jacket. “I have two theories — they could have been close to the twins, we should ask them about older or younger brothers and sisters; one could get mistaken for the other?” Dean frowned, rubbing his face with his hand as he approached the Impala. “Or these two were hand chosen and there’s more sets of twins than this town is letting on in the birth records?” Dean suggested. “Either way, let’s go meet them, ask them some stuff.”

Callie looked to Eva. “I... I think I am? I’m not hurt, and neither are you, that’s the main thing.” She squeezed Eva’s hand in return, showing their stance of soliditary. Still keeping hold of her sister’s hand, Callie watched as the two men entered the Impala. “Who were they?” She asked, although nearly meek.

Sam nodded to the theories Dean presented, figuring it had to be one of them. There wasn't really any way for them to figure it out just yet, though, so he made his way over to the car and climbed in, looking back at the girls. "Are you two doing okay?" he asked, his eyes running over their expressions, though his gaze focused in on Callie when he heard her question, his expression softening at how meek her voice was in that moment. "We don't know yet. We were hoping you two might be willing to answer some questions so that we can try to figure it out? Either way, we're not going to let anything happen to either of you, okay?" He kept his tone gentle, hoping to reassure Callie as much as he could.

Eva was relieved to hear Callie assure that she wasn't hurt and she kept a firm hold on her twin's hand, almost worried that, if she let go any time soon, they might be ripped away from each other. She looked to the men, listening to the much taller one speak, and she swallowed thickly with the mention of questions. Did these guys really expect them to have any idea who attacked them? For a moment, she sunk back into her seat, worried, but nodded slightly. "Yeah, um, okay, we can... Try to answer whatever questions you have," she murmured eventually, "So long as you guys answer some of ours." While she wasn't sure if her sister had any questions of her own, Eva had plenty already.

“Us first,” Dean put up a relaxed front as he maneuvered the car out of the cul-de-sac, wanting to find a safe place for the girls to talk without a possible Aztec God knocking on the window. Looking in the rear view mirror of the Impala, Dean’s gaze settled on Eva, and he offered her a small smile through the mirror, reassuring her he nor Sam would harm them in any way. “Do you know where the crops are?”

Callie thought for a moment, before nodding. “Old man Tony’s farm!” She looked to Eva. “We used to spend our summers helping Tony and his wife tend to everything he was growing,” she explained, cooperating to the questions — after all, these two had just saved their lives. “He was a bible nut,” she pulled a face, settling back into her seat.

Sam peered over to Dean when Callie mentioned the farm and Tony and his wife, wondering if they were the two behind all of this. Still, he nodded and looked back to Callie. "Mind telling us where we can find the farm?" he asked, "And, did Tony and his wife seem to take a particular interest in you two? Or even you two and others?" After all, with how many others had died, it wouldn't be too surprising if Tony and his wife, if they were really behind this, had purposely gotten close to keep an eye on them all growing up.

Eva listened quietly to the questions, unsure of how to answer them. "If you're meaning some sexual way or something, no," she said, making a slight face, "They just... More or less acted like they were uncle and aunt to a bunch of the community kids growing up." She shrugged gently, unsure of how else to explain it. "Tony was a bible nut, but they were still just nice."

“About ten minutes away from here, along the backroads.” Callie explained the directions, looking at Eva. “Yeah, they were big in kids helping out. They ran a Sunday school and it was weird. We went, like, twice and then we stopped.” Callie looked at her twin, feeling uneasy about it all.

Dean nodded. “Alright, so were the crops good every year?” He asked. “Did they ever have a year where the crops just didn’t flourish? Or died suddenly?” Dean took the backroad, as instructed by Callie, beginning to accelerate the car to a good speed. They had no time to waste, or hold back.
