Alyssa sighed in content as she saw how busy her bakery shop was. A lot of the customers that were present are older Northsiders, but she knew that in about 30 minutes or so, kids from the Southside, mainly the Seperents kids would stop by and so will some of the students from Riverdale High. Business was treating her well especially since the shop has been only opened for a little over a month.

Alyssa was born in the Southside, but her mother made them move to Buffalo, New York because she didn't want Alyssa to get caught up in her dad's gang life with the Serpents. Alyssa, now 25, moved back to Riverdale to help her father out since he had fallen ill and to start a new life away from her mother.

The bell rang in the halls of Southside High, signaling that school was over for the day. Sweatpea walked out the school's corridors to meet up with his fellow Serpents. "There he is. What took you so long?" Fangs called out to him. Sweatpea rolled his eyes, but smiled as he stood in between Toni Topaz and Fangs. "Don't worry about it." He replied to Fangs before looking at everyone else. "Anyone feel like going to that new bakery shop?" He asked everyone. The bakery was the only place on the Northside that welcomed Southside Serpents with open arms. And it was the only place that wasn't taken over by the Mayor who seeks to destroy anything that belongs to the Serpents.

Ava was on her way to the bakery to meet her brother. Tony had refused to go to Riverdale High like his sister. She held the strap of her book bag as she walked from the school. The day had been the worst one yet, everyone knew about her brother and Ava was on the receiving end of it.

She walked into the bakery and sat down, she had sent a text to her brother to make sure he would be there. Reggie had been harassing her all day, telling her she didn’t belong at their school. A wave of relief hit her when Tony and the other Serpents walked in. Ava smiled, waving her brother over.

FP knew Hiram was quickly trying to buy out every piece of land he could find and he had heard that Alyssa’s bakery was next on the hit list. It bothered him that Riverdale was being bought out.

He opened the door to the bakery and made his way over, seeing Alyssa behind the counter. “How’s business today?” He asked, knowing she was doing well for herself.

Alyssa turned around, hearing the familiar voice that belong to FP. She smiled at the older man. "Business is going well. I'm surprise at how many people are here." She said with a smile as she was putting away the freshly baked cookies in display plate. Alyssa began packing a small box with some of his favorite goodies and some for his son, Jughead.

Alyssa met FP two months ago when she fist moved Riverdale and was taking care of her sick father. She thought he was sweet and very caring, but she knew it wouldn't be a good idea to date him for numerous reasons.

Sweatpea and his fellow Serpents walked into the bakery shop. He immediately spotted Ava in one of the secluded spot, away from the customers who were giving them dirty looks. He nudge Tony and pointed at her direction. Tony looked over and saw his sister, smiling at her but the closer they got to her, his smile began to falter. "What happened to you sis?" He asked instead of greeting his sister.

Ava sighed, “It’s all around Riverdale High that not only are you a Serpent, but you’re also my brother.” She hated bothering Tony, knowing he had his own issues, “And to top it all off, Reggie has been harassing me like crazy and trying to get me to leave school...”

Tony
shook his head, “That’s bullshit and you know it, what I do has nothing to do with you.” Glancing over at the door when it opened, he stood up straight seeing Reggie and some others walk in.

“Leave it alone Anthony...” Ava said softly, calling her brother by his full name.

FP nodded, “Good, I’m not. It’s nice to have a place on the Northside where the kids can be without being bothered.” He knew the kids enjoyed a change in scenery every now and then. “Have you had any unwanted visitors yet?” He asked, FP had warned her a few days ago about Hiram, he wanted to make sure he hadn’t tried anything.

He smiled, watching as she put the goods in the box, “You’re a real life saver, Alyssa. Jug Loves anything you make.”

Alyssa shook her head, "Thankfully no one showed up yet. And I hope it stays that way. I'm not going to let that monster take my bakery away. I worked super hard to build this place for my business and a safe place for the Serpents to come to. I may not be an official serpent, but I have ties to you guys because of my father. And I want to give back to you guys for being there for him." She said and closed the box and handed it to FP. Alyssa shook her head when FP tried to pay for the goodies. "No need. It's on the house. You and Jughead are good people and have supported me from the start." She said with a smile.

Sweetpea watched the interaction between the two siblings, not knowing what to do. But then he saw Reggie and the rest of the football teammates sitting down at a table, from his peripheral vision. He then snuck away from the guys and went over to Reggie. "You, me, outside now." He demanded. Usually he drew out his knife at this point, but he didn't want a big scene to happen and especially not here at the bakery.

Reggie got up from the table and followed outside, “You Serpents are getting a little too comfortable here. Let me guess,this has to do with your friend?” He asked, pointing to Ava through the glass.

Ava used Tony to hide herself from the football team. She kept her head down, listening to everyone around her. Hearing Fangs speak up, “Where’d Sweet pea go?” Ava’s head shot up, she looked at Tony, realizing the other Southsider had been gone for some time.

“Don’t worry, we won’t let that happen either,” FP had already made it clear to the rest of their Serpents that Alyssa’s bakery was a good thing and they needed to protect it. He shook his head, “Serpents take care of their own, and as far as we’re concerned, you are family.”

FP took the box from her, “You’re the best.” He said, giving her a smile before walking towards the door. Before he left, he managed to slide a twenty dollar bill onto the counter, just under the register so she would see it, but not before it was too late.

Alyssa waved goodbye to FP. Once he was gone, she looked down and saw a twenty dollar bill under the register. She sighed but smiled softly to herself. "What am I going to do with the you FP." She said to herself as she put away the twenty inside the register. She looked back up when she heard another customer walk in. She saw it was Alice Cooper, one of the few Northsiders that try to slander her name and her business in her newspaper.

Sweetpea folded his arms across his chest. "Ava has nothing to do with her brother joining the Serpents. But because she part of the family, I'm only going to say this once." He paused then moved closer Reggie, practically towering over him. "You better leave Ava alone. If I see one strand out of place" He paused and took out his knife and placed it near his throat, "I will not hesitate to kill you." He threatened the northsider before walking back inside the bakery back to his friends.

Seeing Sweetpea come back and Reggie close behind him, Tony gave his friend a knowing look and a nod of appreciation. Tony didn’t want to cause Ava anymore drama.
Ava had gotten close with a few Serpents, mainly Toni and Sweetpea, since her brother joined them. She looked Sweetpea over as he walked back inside, “What did you do?” She asked.

FP was getting in his truck when he saw Alice walking into the bakery. He rolled his eyes, deciding to sit there for a moment, wondering what Alice was up to. She wanted the Southsiders gone, and would do anything to get that. He knew Alice was trying to drag Alyssa through the mud.

Although Alice tries to slander Alyssa's name, Alyssa wasn't going to do the same. So, she smiled and took the older woman's order. "So is it true that you're sleeping with the Serpent King." Alice asked the younger girl with a smirk, trying to start drama. Alyssa was taken back from the comment and shook her head. "No we're not sleeping together. He's just a family friend." She told the older lady honestly. She didn't understand why Alice was so obsessed with trying to claim that FP and her are together. "Look Mrs. Cooper, are you here to order anything? If you are not, can you please move over so I can take the other customers' orders.?"

Sweetpea looked at Ava, "I just had a talk to with Reggie. I just told him to leave you alone." He said, not going deep into detail of his threat to Reggie. He didn't need Ava to worry or have him take back his threat. "Nothing else happened. I promise." He said and draped his arm around her shoulders. "Let's see what Alyssa has for us" he said and guided her to the front of the bakery.

Ava nodded, deciding not to pry, her face turned red as he put his arm around her shoulder. She had started to develope a crush on Sweetpea sometime ago, but didn’t plan on acting on it. As they walked to the front, Ava looked at everything Alyssa had done. She couldn’t help rolling her eyes when she noticed Alice bothering Alyssa.

FP knew better, but decided to go back into the bakery. He stopped once inside the door, “Alice, why don’t you come outside and we can talk?” He knew how to handle her, and he didn’t want to cause a scene for Alyssa. Seeing people were standing in line behind Alice, “Come on, she’s got customers.”

Alyssa looked into FP's eyes and mouthed a silent "Thank you" to him and then she smiled at the group.at the Serpent kids. "Hey guys. What would you like?" She asked them with a smile and took out a box for them. "You kids are staying out of trouble right?" She teased.

Alice followed FP outside of the bakery. She yanked back her arm from his grip. "What the hell do you want, Serpent." She spat out. "I was in the middle of trying to interview Bakery girl so that the people can get to know her." She smirked.

Sweetpea smiled at Alyssa. "Can we get the mystery box that I can take to the rest of the Serpents, but put an extra red velvet donut for me in there?" He winked which caused Alyssa and Ava to laugh. They knew how much he loved Alyssa's Red Velvet donuts. "I'll take one more Red velvet donut for now and..." He trailed off and looked at Ava, "what would you like?" He asked the girl with a soft smile.

Ava laughed softly at Sweetpea, she looked over the donuts, “I’ll take a red velvet one too.” She smiled, thanking Alyssa and waited for Sweetpea. They walked back over to the other Serpents, “Thanks Sweetpea.”

“No, you’re in there trying to ruin her. You weren’t interviewing her, you’re prying into her,” FP said. He shook his head, “Lay off her Alice, she’s just trying to make a living and make Riverdale better.”

Alyssa smiled as she watched the kids bring the box full of bakery goods to their friends. She then looked outside to see that FP was still talking to Alice outside. She could tell it was getting heated, knowing that Alice Cooper would do anything to give the Serpents and anyone who associates themselves with them. Which meant that Alice was trying to make her look bad to all of the Northside citizens of Riverdale.

"Anyone who tries to run a business to cater to you snakes is not good for Riverdale. I hope that the Mayor or the Mayor's secret land buyers run her out of this town. She needs to go back ti where she came from." Alice said as she pointed in Alyssa's directions. "And then soon, you and your Serpent gangs will be run out of here too and when that happens, Riverdale can finally be at peace." She smirked and then headed to her car. "By the way, Aren't you a little too old to be flirting with a girl who is only 7 or 8 years older than your homeless looking son?" She taunted before driving off.

Sweetpea looked at Ava and smiled as they sat together at the table with their friends. "No problem." He said and draped his arm around her shoulder again. Toni looked between the two and gave Ava a knowing look, before texting the Northside girl. So what's going on between you and Sweetpea? she texted the girl, while listening to Sweetpea tell a joke to everyone.

Im not entirely sure... Ava quickly sent to her friend. She had mentioned to Toni that she had a crush on Sweetpea before, but only in passing. Ava was still feeling the butterflies in her stomach from Sweetpea being so close.

FP could put up with so much, but listening to Alice bad mouth not only Alyssa, but also his son was the last straw. He watched as she drove off before going back inside to speak to Alyssa. He waited for her to be done with customers before stepping up to the counter, “Can we talk quick?”

Alyssa nodded. She made sure the register was locked and put up the "Be back momentarily" sign on the counter, before leading FP to the back of the bakery so that they were secluded. "Everything okay?" She asked, concerned for the older man.

Sweetpea saw Tony giving him a knowing look, telling him to not hurt his sister. Sweetpea nodded. Although, he knew that he would never hurt Ava. Sweetpea recently developed feelings for the brown haired girl and he felt the need to protect her, which was hard to do when she goes to a different school than he did.

Ava caught the look Tony was giving Sweetpea and raised an eyebrow. She was wondering what was going on. She was glad that whatever he had said to Reggie seemed to help.

Once they were alone, FP looked at her, “Alice is going to be pushing for you to be bought out. If she shows up here again, call me. I don’t want her to cause a scene here.” He was genuinely worried for her business.

Alyssa nodded "Alice is just like my mother, always try make others look bad. I'm not afraid of her or her threats. But I will call you if she shows up." She said then leaned in to kiss FP's cheek. "Thanks for looking out for me and my bakery. You are a very sweet and thoughtful man and I wish more people can see that." Alyssa smiled.

Tony saw Ava raised her eyebrow. He just smiled at his sister and shook his head. "Nothing to worry about sis." He mouthed to her. Sweetpea looked down at Ava, silently admiring her beauty. He wished it was just them two so that he could tell Ava how he felt, but he was afraid that she didn't like him like that.

Ava nodded to her brother, Whatever was going on, she wasn’t too worried about it. “I have to use the bathroom, I’ll be right back,” Ava smiled at her brother and then Sweetpea as she got out of the booth and walked to the bathroom.

“I just want you to be aware of what she’s got going on,” FP said. A small smile crossed his lips as she kissed his cheek, “I’m just looking out for you, I don’t want her to try anything.”

Alyssa nodded, "Thank you again for looking out for me and my bakery. I mean it from the bottom of my heart." She told the older man, as she hugged him tightly. Alyssa pulled back slightly to look at him. "Come over for dinner tonight, and bring Jughead. I'm sure that you two could enjoy a homecooked meal." She offered, kissing his cheek again to convince him to say yes.

Sweetpea watched Ava leave the table to go to the girl's room. He then looked at Toni and lifted his chin slightly. He knew that she understood his signal, because he watched Toni get up and followed behind Ava. Sweetpea heard Tony clear his throat, getting Sweetpea attention. "What is going on between you and my sister." He asked as he folded his arms across his chest. "Nothing is going. I'm just looking out for her as well. She may not be a Serpent, but she's family because of you. And we Serpents take care of our own." Sweetpea defended.
