Heaven and Hell

It had been a long day, and Piper was more than ready to head home. She was dead tired, her feet were sore and all she really wanted was to lay down. Though, unfortunately, Piper needed to stop by the grocery store so she had something to eat tonight. That was what she got for refusing to go to the store until there was literally nothing left. The last week - or month really - had been hectic and just the thought of shopping made her want to drop to the ground but her need for food outweighed her need for sleep.

With a small toss of her hair, the young woman continued on her way down the street and towards the grocery store. She was not too far now.

Reano leaned against the door to the mortal world, peering through the one way transulcant stone as he watched human after human walk by. He wanted to step out, but it was best to not allow some mortal to see him essentially walk through a wall. That was what he got for taking one of the nicer ways to Earth. Though he was not one to use the sewer, nor did he want to swim through a portion of the river to get onto dry land. The safe entrances were not preferable, which is why Reano usually picked a more direct one, even if it did take longer.

After a few minutes, Reano finally found an opportunity to leave without being seen. He moved through the door, coming out of the stone wall of a building onto the other side. Once out, his fingers moved through his hair, ensuring that his horns were not showing before heading on his way. There was a witch Reano needed to see...

Aislinn finished coating her eyelashes in mascara as she finished getting ready for work. She was tired from attending classes all day, but still needed to make money. Bartending was just enough to line her pockets for food and other necessities. If she worked enough, she was even able to save up a little bit. She only had another year left until she'd graduate and get her degree.

"So am I gonna have to go out and get wasted at the bar just so I can spend some time with you?" Cam, her boyfriend, came up behind her. He put his arms around her waist and looked at her through the mirror in front of them.

"I get less tips when you're there," she half joked, turning her head to kiss him on the cheek.

"It's not like you have to pay for rent," he frowned. He was right, though. She lived with him, basically for free, while she finished school.


Liam sipped on a mortal drink they called Dr. Pepper from a strange plastic bottle. He liked how it burned the back of his throat, and even how it tasted. He hadn't been in the mortal realm long, but had caught up on it's quirks. This was his first time here, cast down to do his master's bidding.

He watched the weird devices called cars move down the street in front of him from the bench he sat alone on. He had not heard anything from his master, and felt alone, confused, and even a little sad. His master was new to him; he wasn't able to recall most of his past but still, he felt old. He'd been around for a very long time.

Piper headed into the nearest store, just wanting to grab what they had available and leave. Even though she was wishing for a short trip, that had not been the case. Though it seems to never happen when she entered a grocery store. What she was hoping would be a 15 minute grab and run quickly turned into 45 minutes as Piper grabbed enough food to at least last the rest of the week - if not longer.

Soon, Piper was on the street again. Though, this time, carrying several heavy bags loaded with food. Just two more blocks more. Just as Piper started to feel hope of making it home, one of the plastic bags broke, causing food to drop onto the sidewalk. A defeated sigh came from the young woman as she looked down at the ground.

Reano headed off down the busy streets of the city, making his way to the address the woman had given him. He was hoping that this would be a quick stop today. Afterwords, Reano was hoping to have some fun in the mortal world. He might as well cause some chaos while he was here! There was certainly no reason not to.

After a bit of a walk, Reano finally ended at the address the witch had given him. Some disappointment moved through him as he realized that it was a bar. This was certainly not preferable. Why did witches always have to give them such odd places to meet? They could never just go to someone's house, it always had to be a whole thing. Though, at least this time was not at some theme park again...

With a shake of his head, Reano headed inside and sat at a booth, waiting for the witch.

Aislinn wrapped her hair tie around her messy bun a couple of times before she walked behind the bar, joining the two other bartenders, Stacie and Jax. She grabbed one of the shot glasses, and putting her back towards the club, she poured a shot of Jameson and threw it back down her throat. She put the bottle of Jameson back and put the glass in the dirty bin before she started tending to the customers.

Despite how tired she was from a day full of classes, there was nothing a shot of whiskey couldn't fix. She could barely hear her own thoughts over the music and talking, but still thought to herself as she made an Old Fashioned. She'd hoped Cam wouldn't show up at her work...again. n


Liam felt a wave rush through the mortal world. He looked around; nobody else had noticed it. Of course they wouldn't. It was a tell tale sign that something immortal had entered the mortal realm, but who? The feeling the wave brought on him gave him a sense of familiarity, but not a lot of it.
