Me and My Heart [Closed]

Norah had never been hopeful when it came to her singing career. She was always so awkward on stage, whenever she found bars to sing at, she always kept her eyes down. But she was amazing at writing songs, and her voice was angelic. On top of her unsuccessful singing career, Norah was freshly homeless. Her parents had kicked her out upon learning she wasn't going to college and instead was trying to pursue a career in music, but luckily, she had a really close friend willing to let her crash at her place a few nights a week.

"I was your amber, but now she's your shade of gold... Stone cold, baby. God knows I tried, to be happy for you, know that I am, even if I, can't understand..." Norah sat up in a bar, a guitar in her hands, her fingers plucking away at the strings.

She barely made anything at these bars. The owners let her play, but wouldn't pay her anything, but let her keep any tips she happened to be given, but the most she had ever made in a night was fifty bucks. So far tonight, she was two songs in and only had ten bucks in the guitar case at her feet. She finished her song and slid off the chair, feeling defeated. She put her guitar up in it's case and went to the bar.

Brian leaned against the wall, sipping a beer in the far back of the bar. He listened to the girl singing and scanned the room for Matt, not knowing where he went. He sighed and took another sip from the bottle and started to walk around the bar, looking for his friend, but he ended up finding a girl looking like she was also looking for someone.

"Looks like we're both looking for someone." He smirked down at the fresh faced beauty. She had gorgeous light hair and Brian couldn't help but get lost, letting his eyes trace the cute features of her face. "What's your name?"

It was surprising that Brian was able to do this, feeling no guilt whatsoever, knowing he had a girl back home in California, waiting for him to return from tour. But nonetheless, he was able to pretty much pick up a girl in each town they stopped in.

Matt walked through the bar after getting his beer, trying to return to Brian. Though he got distracted when the girl on stage was singing so he stopped to listen. He was amazed that she really didn't get a lot of tips. He knew it sucked to start out though. He moved over to her as she closed up her guitar case, "Are you giving up that easily?" He asked, grinning as she looked at him. He smirked, "I'm Matt. What's your name?" He asked as he offered her his hand. He felt her hand touch his and he knew that he could at least make conversation for the next couple of minutes. "You are really good you know that?" He asked her. She seemed a little shy on stage, but she certainly had talent. "Do you write your songs?" He asked, taking a sip of his beer after he let go of her hand.

He pulled out his wallet, holding out a hundred to her, "I can still leave a tip right?" He teased her, smirking as she took the money from his hand. "I think you should have kept singing though. He looked behind him when he heard someone say her name, seeing a pretty girl who appeared to be her friend. Of course his man whore friend was tailing behind her. He looked at Brian, knowing he had already focused in on this girl.

Mina walked into the bar and looked around for Norah. She was surprised she wasn't still on stage. Mina had gotten off work late at the diner and had to go home and change before she could meet her. She was surprised when she heard a man's voice. She looked at him, seeing a very gorgeous guy, looking back at her. She smiled a little, "Uh yea I guess so." She said. "I'm Mina." She said, "And you are?" She asked. She nodded when he told her his name was Brian. "It's nice to meet you Brian." She said. Mina was pretty social and was able to make friends with anyone so she didn't mind talking to him. When she spotted Norah she smiled, "Found her." She said, giggling. When he mentioned his friend being the one talking to her she smiled, "See I can find anyone." She teased him. "Come on." She said, walking through the crowd with him. She waved at Norah, "Hey." She said. She looked at the guy next to her, "I found your friend." She said, motioning to Brian. She was glad that she didn't have to work the next day and she could have some fun. She ordered a drink from the bar next to them then joined the three of them again. She didn't miss the way that Brian stared at her like a hungry shark. Though she wouldn't mind spending some time with him since he was so hot and she hadn't hooked up with anyone in awhile.

Norah was surprised that someone had actually came up to talk to her. She had been expecting Mina, but not some man. She looked up at him, blushing at how handsome he was. "I-I'm just tired." She explained, only half lying. She felt a little weird taking money straight from his hand, but she really needed it.

The group moved over to the bar and even though Norah knew she really didn't have the money to spare, she didn't want to be the only one not ordering a drink. She slid a crumpled bill to the bartender and ordered a vodka soda. She looked past the strange man who had complimented her, seeing Norah and the other guy were eating each other up.

"So, what's your name...?" She asked him, looking him up and down. He was dressed in plain blue jeans and one of those tank tops that had affliction written across in old gothic lettering, with a pair of sunglasses hanging from the collar. His arms were littered in tattoos and Norah tried to get a good look without awkwardly staring.

Brian took a seat next to Mina and cut in front of her before she could open a tab on her card. "Just put it under mine." He winked at the bartender as he slid her his card. Matt smiled when she asked his name, "I'm Matt." He said. He took a sip of his beer, "Do you perform her a lot?" He asked her. She seemed to be familiar with the place. He always hated to see talent like hers go unnoticed. He took a swig of his beer, hearing her ask about what he was doing in town. "I am actually in a band and we are on tour. We opened up for a few bands this evening." He said. He knew one day his band would be the headliner, but for now he was just glad he was able to do what he loved and make money. Plus he got to meet women like her. Back home things were so great since his wife decided she wanted to get a divorce. He just dreaded when she called.

Mina smiled when he paid for her drink, "Thanks." She said. She took a sip of her drink when he asked what she did for a living. "I work at a local restuarant." She said. She knew it wasnt much but she made pretty decent money and it paid the bills. Mina watched him take a sip of his beer, "What about you? What do you do?" She asked, seeing the way his eyes moved over her. He clearly wanted her and she knew she could have some fun with him. When he said that he played lead guitar she moved closer to him, "Oh really?" She asked as she took his hand, "So you must be good with your hands then?" She teased him, looking at him.

Norah felt her heart leap forward when she heard him say he was in a band. A band that actually got to tour around and play their music for people who actually paid to see them. It seemed like such a dream that was so far out of her reach. "I bet that's so nice." She smiled, sincerely meaning it. She knew that wasn't in the cards for her and she dreaded the day she'd have to give up her passion and find a job that actually paid the bills.

She knew that day was coming sooner rather than later. She couldn't live on Norah's couch forever.

"Yeah, I perform here sometimes, sometimes I just street perform." She shrugged, trying to make it seem like it was something she just did because she could. The last thing she wanted was for him to find out she was homeless.

He took another sip of his beer, looking past Mina for a moment to see Matt looked pretty invested with with Mina's friend. Good, the last thing he wanted was Matt trying to drag him out of here before he could get what he wanted.

He was also happy Matt seemed to be having fun. Since the news about the divorce, he had been a pretty big mess.

"Do you have your plans with your friend tonight since you were looking for her? Or are you free later?" He asked, his smirk permanently etched on his face.

Matt smiled, "Yea it is amazing. It just nice to have our music out there and people enjoying it." He said. He took a swig of his beer, "That's cool that you get to perform here." He told her. He finished his beer then ordered another as long as a drink for her. "This place is better than most if the dive bars I played at." He said, laughing. He wondered what else she had written that he didnt get to hear.

Mina smiled as he spoke and she was glad that he was playing along. "I think that sounds like fun." She said as her fingers moved over his hand. She glanced over, seeing Norah talking to Matt. "I was just coming to get a few drinks with her, but she is distracted now. So I guess that you get to keep me entertained now. Can you do that?" She asked as she moved a little closer to him.

"Yeah, it's pretty nice..." Norah lied. She pretty much hated getting on a stage now in front of people. Sure, they clapped and complimented her, but knowing she wasn't going to make enough tips to help Mina with rent or eat on for the next couple of days always made her feel pretty shameful.

She asked him a few more questions about his band, like the type of music it was and what he played. "Metal is my favorite, but I don't have the voice for it." She laughed, even more excited now when she learned he was also a singer.

Upon her moving closer to him, Brian let his hand slid up her side. He didn't want to take his hands off of her. "Oh, I can keep you entertained." Brian looked over her drink and called on the bartender to pour them something a little stronger. He grabbed the glass the bartender handed him and took a long drink of the bourbon, enjoying the way it burned. "Would you like to come back to my hotel room?" He asked, sure she'd say yes. What girl wouldn't want to be pampered and get romantic in a five star master suite?

Matt chuckled, "Yea it is a pretty tricky thing. Sometimes when we do back to back shows I end up feeling pretty run down." He told her. "It's worth it though." He said. He finished his beer quick before he ordered a jack and coke. He took a drink of it as he listened to her, "How many songs have you written?" He asked. He looked at his friend when he seen Brian stand up with Mina. He narrowed his eyes at his friend, knowing he was never going to quit cheating.

Mina smiled as he moved in closer, watching as the bartender poured them some bourbon. She took a sip of hers, "Sure sounds fun." She said. She finished her drink, then grabbed her purse, standing up with him. She looked at Norah, "We are leaving." She said. She wanted to have some fun with Brian. Mina walked out of the bar with him, "You have more to drink at your hotel right?" She asked, looking up at him. She smiled as he looked at her.

"I've been writing songs since high school..." She trailed off, seeing Mina get up to leave with Matts friend. She hoped either the apartment was unlocked or that spare key was still under the mat because she knew Mina wouldn't be coming home tonight if she was leaving with a guy. Not that she could complain or get angry about it, it just bummed her out thinking she might have to sleep at the shelter tonight. Or just on the streets if they had no vacancies.

Chewing on her lip, she looked back to Matt, seeing the annoyed look on his rage. "Your friend ditch you for girls often?" She laughed.

Brian wrapped his arm around Mina's waist, "More than you'd be able to put down." He waved at Matt as they walked past them, telling him not to wait up on him. Brian led her out of the bar and took her to the back parking lot where he had his rental car parked. It was a nice corvette, black with dark shiny gray trim. He opened the passenger side for her and smirked, watching her walk towards him, "My lady." He gestured to inside the car.

Brian was great as coming off charming and irrestistible. He had years to practice. His long career of juggling women spanned all the way back to his high school years when he would have two or three girls in a weekend. He was sure he had slept with at least all of the women in his grade and at least half of the rest of the girls in the school. He had always been a player and he didn't plan on stopping now.

Matt looked at her, "It's not that...its just..I mean he does but.." He sighed. "He's got a girlfriend and he does this a lot." He said, looking at Norah. "He thinks it's just harmless fun which to the other women like your friend it is." He said. He looked at his drink, "I dont know how he gets away with it." He said, taking a sip of his drink.

Mina smiled as he opened the door to the car. The car was amazing and she knew she was going to have fun. She texted Norah to let he know the key was under the mat then turned her phone off. When they got to the hotel Mina walked with him to his room. His hotel room was like the size of her apartment. She set her purse down then looked at him. She smiled as he moved towards her then she stopped him with her hand, "Not so fast mister your promised more booze." She said, feeling his body relax. "Besides you need to tell me more about this band of yours." She said as she sat on the couch. She took the drink from him and took her shoes off as she listened to him talk. After a few more drinks she set her glass down and straddled his lap

Mina pulled his jacket off then kissed him roughly as she threw it on the floor. She kissed down his neck as she started to work on removing his shirt. She stopped when she felt his phone going off in his pocket. She relaxed as he pulled it out, "Do you need to answer that?" She asked him as she messed with the button on his jeans. She bit her bottom lip lightly as she looked from his phone screen to her.

Norah rubbed the back of her neck, looking over her shoulder, watching the pair walk away. "Must not be hard, especially being so far away from his girlfriend." She turned back around and picked up her glass and took another drink. Norah sat her glass back down, yawning. Norah didn't want to start any problems, so she figured she'd just let Mina have her fun.

"I should probably get going." Norah said as she finished her drink. If she wanted to be able to grab a bed at the homeless shelter she needed to get there before everyone else. "It was really nice meeting you." She slid off the bar stool and bent down to grab her guitar case, when she heard her phone ding. She pulled it out of her pocket, seeing Mina texted her letting her know there was a key under the mat.

"Or maybe I could hang out a little longer." She chuckled and shook her head.

Brian was a little annoyed she wanted to talk about his band, but he told her all she wanted to know as he made her a drink. He just wanted to get down to what he had brought her here for. A huge smile broke into his face once she was climbing into his lap. He held her hips, loving the way her lips explored his body. Matt watched as she got off her stool, then chuckled when she said she could stay longer. "Alright more drinks then." He said, watching her sit back next to him. Matt took a sip of his drink after he ordered her what she wanted. "You know if you want we can go grab something to eat." He suggested. He knew that the bar was getting pretty crowded. "Do you know any good places?" He asked her as he looked over. He hoped that she did because he always likes to try some local restaurants when they were touring. The food was always great. He used to do that with his wife when they would go places together, but towards the end she quit liking to do that and they kind of just did nothing. He sighed as he thought about it.

Mina smiled as she watched him throw the phone on the floor behind him, "Good." She said as she unbuttoned his jeans once he pulled his shirt off. He walked with her to the restaurant then went inside, getting them a table. He sat down and began to look over the menu.

It was just a local restaurant that played all the games, so a lot of people came here instead of going to places like Buffalo Wild Wings. And it was pretty cozy. The two sat down in the back and Norah just watched Matt, already knowing what she wanted.

Norah hadn't meant to be staring, she barely knew she was. She was just in awe, finding it unbelievable that someone could actually be living her dream of making music for a living. She blinked when she heard him speak up and she ran her hands through her hair. "Sorry, just spaced out." She chuckled. Closing her menu, she handed it to the waitress he just ordered a water and a large fry. She would barely have enough money to pay for that.

Norah bit her lip and felt a little embarrassed when he said he was paying. She didn't want to just assume and then order something she couldn't pay for... But now if she ordered something else, she felt like it might come off like she couldn't afford anything, and even though that was true, well, she didn't want him to know that.

She looked up at the waitress and bit her lip, "I'll take a vanilla shake too." She smiled, and handed her menu to the woman. "Thanks."

Brian smiled, letting his head relax back against the bed. He could hear the vibration coming from his phone all the way across the floor, but it wasn't hard for him to ignore it. He ignored her all the time, he figured she'd get the picture and stop calling, but his girlfriend never did.

"I wish they'd take the hint." He smirked and let his fingers lightly trail up her skin, completely enjoying her company, "I'm obvious all wrapped up." He smirked and pulled her closer to him so he could kiss her.
