Right Kind of Crazy

"Thomas and I have written a few songs together. Plannin' on goin' on tour, eventually." Luke spoke as he finished up the tomatoes. He put the knife in the skin after rinsing it off, making a mental note to put it in the dishwasher before Lauren noticed. "How long've you known Lauren? Did you two grow up together?"

"Me and Lauren? God I've known her longer than I can remember !" Blake laughed, thinking back on her friendship with the woman in question. "I honestly cant remember a time when she wasnt my best friend." She smiled. Blake moved around the kitchen, grabbing this thing or that- eventually grabbing the lettuce - which was the last thing she needed to do.

"So a tour huh? Does that mean you're a big star like Thomas? I'm guessing... country?" She teased, basing her comment solely on his appearance.

"What was your first clue?" Luke laughed, leaning against the counter. "But yeah. Don't tell Thomas, but I'm pretty sure that I'm a bigger star than him." He winked to show that he was kidding. "It's good that you and Lauren are friends-- we always need to have a good friend like that in our lives."

"Well, you dont hear of many punk bands with such a heavy southern twang." Blake chuckled, ripping the lettuce into smaller bits. "It definitely works for you though. I bet to make all the girls go crazy." She continued, looking up at him with a small smirk on her face. She wasnt sure what it was about this man... but something was telling her she needed to get to know him.

Luke shook his head, running a hand through his hair. "Not to toot my own horn or anythin', but my audience is primarily female." He sipped the rest of his beer before putting the empty bottle in the little recycling bin Lauren kept beneath the kitchen sink. "What about you miss Blake? What kind of music are you into?"

"I listen to a lot of stuff." Blake stated tossing the center of the lettuce in the trash and hopping up on the counter, grabbing her own wine cooler - beer was never her favorite. "A lot of old country - some new stuff but not a lot. Pop. Punk. Pretty much everything since the 90's... except rap. Cant stand rap." She explained. She crossed her legs at the ankle, leaning forward slightly. "So you're Luke. I've gotta be honest, I've never heard your name before... how'd Thomas rope you into being a groomsman?"

"Well, he and I have always sort of been friends, but we just started getting closer this year. Plus, the wedding colors go good with my eyes." Luke smirked, folding his arms. "Maybe he thinks I'll sing at the wedding for free... He's mistaken, but it's a nice thought." Luke joked.

Blake chuckled, rolling her eyes as she took a sip of her drink. "Are you always this much of a joker? I'd be careful, someone may think you're flirting." She smirked slightly. "You are right though - colors would look good with your eyes."

"Maybe it's a little bit of both," Luke spoke, sipping his beer. He was surprised at how forward he was being with Blake. It was one of the first times that he'd really come out of his shell since the divorce. "We should probably head on out there-- they might think we ran off or somethin'." He chuckled.

Blake smiled, her eyes darting down as she blushed lightly. She was used to guys flirting with her - side effects of being a tan blonde with friends in the music industry- but for some reason this one man was the one that wasaking her blush. She finished off her wine cooler and nodded "Yes, let's." She pushed herself off the counter, stumbling slightly as her feet hit the ground

Luke moved to the side so Blake could exit the room. "Ladies first," he spoke softly, always the gentleman. Once Blake began heading out to the backyard he followed suit, ignoring Thomas and his raised eyebrow. "Hey, are you just gonna stand there lookin' pretty or are you gonna finish grillin'?" He teased Thomas.

Blake finished setting all the sides and extras down on the table outside as Lauren rushed up to her, her voice hushed. "Uhm, excuse me ma'am. Are you going to tell me exactly what happened in there with Luke freaking BRYAN?!"

"Theres nothing to tell..." Blake laughed, rolling her eyes. Lauren was always trying to fix her up with Thomas' friends and she knew that this would be no different.

"You were in there talkin' to Lauren's friend for an awful long time...wanna tell me what was going on?" Thomas spoke as he began putting the burgers and hot dogs on plates for people to take. Luke shrugged, beginning to help his friend. "Not really much to tell-- she's a cutie, though." Luke admitted, surprising himself.

"Well. You know hes single right? So if something WERE to happen it would be totally okay." Lauren mused, a mischievous smile on her face. "Plus with all this wedding stuff you'll be seeing him an awful lot."

"Lauren... you're not setting me up with another country star. It's just not going to happen.... not after the last one." Blake shuddered, recalling the horrible date she had been on with Kane Brown. He was nice but the girls wouldnt stop throwing themselves at him... it was very annoying considering he welcomed it with open arms despite being on a date.

"You know, it's your wedding shower-- you think you would be able to focus on not settin' me up with a girl for a couple of hours." Luke spoke in a joking tone, rolling his eyes. If he were being honest, though, Luke thought Lauren was cute. She seemed like she had a good personality (Lauren didn't associate with bad people), and he wanted to get to know her better.

Lauren visibly shuddered as well, laughing slightly at the memory of her last set up. "Okay... I may have had a FEW mishaps with setting you up." She agreed

"A FEW?!" Blake laughed, rolling her eyes. She took a quick peak up at Luke, his smile almost infectious. "I'll tell you what. Enjoy your wedding shower and then MAYBE well talk about another set up."

The rest of the day flew by for Luke-- he had to admit, it was nice to get out of the house, have a few drinks and surround himself with good company. That's what he found himself thinking about when he was helping Thomas get the chairs together. "Y'know, Blake kept lookin' over at you." Thomas spoke, interrupting Luke's thoughts.

Blake spent most of the rest of the day socializing with their friends, and helping Lauren and Thomas refill drinks and snacks. Though she couldn't help but steal glances towards the man who had helped her in the kitchen. She didn't know why, but something always managed to draw her attention to him and once it was there it wouldn't go away.. his smile was infectious. Before she knew it, the party was over and she was helping clean up.
