Dean Winchester struggled against the vice tight grip of the officer who had him by the nape of his jacket, his hands bound together by handcuffs. "Shouldn't you at least buy me dinner, first?" He quipped, wincing slightly at the man tightened his grip. In his heart of hearts, Dean knew that the hunting lifestyle would catch up to him and Sam eventually, with all the forged credit cards and false names and he didn't dare think about what security cameras had caught them doing, but in the middle of a case was just damn inconvenient. Being thrown into the cell, Dean murmured a soft dammit as the caged door was slammed shut behind him.

Katie watched the fracas with raised eyebrows, turning her attention onto Elaine. "Man, I wonder what they did." She commented, watching as the taller of the two convicts was thrown into his own cell, one door down from his partner, probably to ensure they had no ways of communication to get their story straight - the less of an alibi they had, the more chance they had of being held accountable for their crimes and actually brought to justice.

"Katherine, Elaine," a stern voice came from the supervisors office. Janet, the brains of the operation in Maine, approached the girls, dressed neatly in her usual pencil skirt, worn without a single crease, and a white shirt. Looking towards the two newest offenders, Janet cleared her throat. "Sam and Dean Winchester, arrested on the grounds of identity forgery, credit card forgery, robbery, breaking and entering, two of the most dangerous criminals that have been on the most wanted list for quite some time. And you're in charge of them. Katherine, you're assigned to Sam, and Elaine, you're assigned to Dean. Do not mess this up." And with a curt nod, the woman disappeared back into her office - presumably to make a call to the director of the FBI.

Katie raised her eyebrows, looking between the two. "Great." She murmured to Elaine, studying Sam for a brief second and wondering how he, who had long hair and a puppy dog look, could be classed as dangerous.

A part of Sam wanted to point out that it probably wasn't the best time for his brother to be the smart-ass that he was, but he didn't bother. It wouldn't do them much good, either way; they were already being arrested, them playing nice wouldn't lessen the charges. When they were thrown into their separate cells, he frowned deeply to himself, looking through the bars with frustration. "This is just great," he muttered quietly, sliding his arms through the bars as he rested his forehead against them, waiting as patiently as he could, but anxious to get out. They still had a job to do, after all, and it was only a matter of time before another person was killed.

Elaine had watched as the Winchesters were taken to their cells, mildly surprised, but she blinked when she heard Janet's voice. Looking over, she paused for a moment upon hearing the orders. They were being assigned to those two? She felt a pit of concern and uncertainty well up in her stomach, since Janet made the pair sound so dangerous and there weren't many times where somebody that dangerous came through Maine. Still, she nodded slightly. "Yes, ma'am," she said eventually, accepting the orders, before she sighed and looked to Katie when Janet walked away and made a slight face. "I feel like she's setting us up for failure."

Dean huffed impatiently as he sat on the edge of the bed provided in the cell. Looking to the two officers, Dean raised his eyebrows. “You know people are in danger, right?” He asked, clearly irritated. “C’mon, you gotta believe us. There’s people dying out there!” Dean had been in this situation before, but knowing there were lives at risk just seemed to drive him a bit further up the wall.

Katie raised her eyebrows as she eyed up Sam a little more, frowning to herself. He seemed anxious, angry, and she could swear she’d never seen a convict so... upset. “Please, she’s been wanting to see us fail since she laid eyes on us.” She murmured back, sitting in an office chair as another call out quietened the place down.

"It's only a matter of time before the body count rises," Sam added to his brother's words, frowning deeply as he tried to reign in his frustration. Being outright rude wouldn't help them any, he knew that. But, knowing that they could do something to stop these deaths and being refrained from doing anything because they were locked up just frustrated him all the more. "We know how to stop it."

Elaine looked to Katie, nodding slightly in understanding. "All because she loves being the woman in power," she muttered quietly, though she cleared her throat when she heard the men calling out constantly. Watching them for a moment, she eventually pushed away from where she was leaning and approached Dean's cell. "You do realize there's no basis to believing anything that a criminal says, right? Most people will say whatever it takes to get out, though it's usually bargaining for a deal, rather than talking about deaths."

Katie watched Sam, frowning. "Yeah, yeah, stop your whining." She stayed in her seat, although she felt slightly uneasy, being in the company of two of the most 'dangerous' - despite how they seemed to be the complete opposite of that. Looking between the brothers, Katie's attention focused more on Sam. Approaching his cell, Katie looked at the taller of the two. "You know who whines?" She asked, her eyes meeting his. "Babies. Are you calm now?" Her tone was still lighthearted, despite the seriousness of the situation.

"We're the good guys." Dean spoke, trying to keep himself steady so his frustration wouldn't burst forth. He knew that being cocky and rude wouldn't work all of the time, so maybe another approach to the situation would work in his favour. "What you're dealing with here, it's not natural, don't you get it?" Dean frowned. "Someone else is gonna disappear and you're gonna see that we're friggin innocent." He frowned, knowing that it probably wasn't working. Whenever he and Sam tried to explain the things that go bump in the night, people never believed them anyway, why would these two be any different?

Sam frowned as he watched her, listening to her words for a long moment. "Look, you've got to listen to us, alright?" he insisted as he watched her for a while, hoping that maybe, just maybe she'd actually listen and it would be left at that. "You don't know what you're dealing with. People are going to keep dying and we know how to stop it - we're probably the only people in this town who can stop it." As far as he knew, there weren't any other hunters in Maine just yet; they'd caught the case early, luckily, but that didn't mean that any other hunter would really take the case. "You need to let us out, so we can do our job. Please, you have to understand."

"For good guys, you've done a lot of bad things," Elaine pointed out as she watched him, "Or did you not hear all of those charges you two have?" She arched a brow, trying not to let this guy get under her skin. But, he seemed so genuine and it was hard to ignore that. "And, murder isn't generally 'natural,' so you'll have to try harder than that." A small frown formed on her features as she watched him and, really, she knew she probably shouldn't engage with the prisoner, because it led to the very thing that she was trying to push away - doubt. "And, even if you are innocent in these murders, that doesn't mean you're innocent in everything else."

Katie faltered for a moment, blinking as she thought. Biting her lip, Katie found it difficult to ignore Sam's pleading. She'd seen arrests - she'd seen temper tantrums and violent outbursts and everything of the sort, but she'd never seen bargaining. Looking towards Elaine, Katie looked back at Sam, focusing on him. "And I bet, if we opened your cells, you'd kill us. I'm not taking that risk just yet, sunshine, so get comfortable." She walked away, her heart pounding within her chest. For the past three months following her divorce, all Katie wanted was some excitement, but she had to choose between what was right and what was easy, and she couldn't quite trust either of the convicts yet.

Dean sighed. "Look, I'm not saying we're perfect, because we're not, but we do what we gotta to survive in this world." He looked up at Elaine. "What's out there now is dangerous, and it's something that normal civilians can't handle by themselves - even if you just let Sam and I out for a day or two, just until we fix things, you can lock us up after. You can even come with us, please, just let us fix this." Dean ducked his head, unsure of what else he could say without telling everything, but both of the officers seemed interested, and that was definitely leaning in his and Sam's favour.

Sam watched her for a long time and, for a moment, he almost believed that she believed him, that she'd help them, that she'd let them save everybody. But, when she spoke, he frowned, swallowing hard, and rattled the bars of the jail cell with frustration. "That's not true!" he tried to assure her, but he wasn't even sure if she was listening now that she'd already walked away. Feeling defeated, he ran his hands through his hair before sliding to sit down, holding his head in his hands as he tried to figure a way out of this mess.

Elaine shifted, unsure of what to believe. He seemed so genuine and concerned and a part of her wanted to believe him, but she knew what would happen if she helped them. She knew what it would mean. "I'm sorry, honestly, but I can't help you," she told him carefully, watching him for a few long moments before she moved away from him and back to Katie, worried that listening to him any further would compromise her thoughts further. Looking to her friend, she watched her for a moment. "I don't know what to believe here."

Turning to look at Sam, seeing how frustrated he was, Katie turned back to Elaine. "I don't either. Maybe they're telling the truth." She toyed with her lower lip, sighing. "Maybe we should give them a chance, but how could we save our own asses while doing it?" She asked, keeping her voice low so she didn't give the boys any hope. "I mean, someone's bound to catch us breaking them out." She frowned. "I've never seen this before, they're genuinely upset, and we can't risk anyone else being murdered while we're holding onto innocent men." She shrugged.

Dean watched the girls carefully, trying to listen into the conversation. "It's alright, Sam." He said for added measure. "I think I know what's doing all this." He knew that would catch some interest from the both of them. "Maybe you could disobey that head bitch's orders for two minutes and help save some people." Dean tried to keep himself calm, his voice steady. He knew the girls were close to cracking, and he believed they would do the right thing - they had to, for the sake of the people at risk.

Elaine nodded her agreement to Katie, sighing as she ran a hand through her hair, trying to think. "I don't know if there's a way to save our own asses in this situation," she admitted quietly, frowning to herself, "But... I don't know if saving our asses is worth letting other people die, if these guys are telling the truth..." She could hear Dean and she frowned deeply, trying to avoid responding to him in hopes of keeping her mind clear to make a decision. Still, she couldn't help but to ask, "What's doing all of this, then?"

Sam tried to listen in on what the girls were saying, more focused on finding a way to get them to let them go than anything. He watched Katie from where he was, trying to think of a way to get her to listen; from the way they'd spoken earlier, he figured she was a moralistic person - surely she'd want to save people. "We can stop this," he told her firmly, "And we will, if you two just get us out of here." Something had to work, something had to convince these two; he just hoped that, if they did finally convince them, it wouldn't be too late.

"A Djinn." Dean explained, trying to remain calm and not harm his and Sam's chance of getting out of the cells. "It kidnaps people, puts them in a false reality while it feeds from them until they die." He rested his forehead against the bars. "Sam and I, we hunt this kind of thing daily, we know how to stop it, but while we're in here, we can't." Dean had never seen himself so calm, but he knew that Elaine and Katie were coming round to the idea, and getting frustrated would get them no progress.

Hearing Dean's words, Katie toyed with her lower lip, grabbing the keys to the cell and opening Sam's door, throwing the keys to Elaine. "We're watching you." She frowned. "And you're taking us with you." She stood in front of Sam, crossing her arms. "Got it?"

Sam could feel relief fill him when he saw that Katie had unlocked and opened his cell door. Watching her for a long moment, he nodded. "Got it," he assured her, taking her in. "But, if you're that set on going with us, you're going to have to listen to us, because you don't want to get caught by this thing." And, if she was going to trust them enough to let them handle this, the last thing he wanted to do was ruin that trust by letting her get hurt.

Elaine caught the keys when Katie tossed them to her and she made her way to Dean's cell, staring at him through the bars for a moment. "No funny business," she told him firmly, waiting for a moment before she shifted to unlock the cell door, opening it, and she hesitated, every atom in her trying to remind her how bad this was, but she stepped out of his way, anyways.

"It's a done deal." Dean promised, exhaling and looking to Sam, nodding in agreement to his words. "Sam's right. You wanna check this out, then you have to listen to us. Hunting's a dangerous game, anyone can get caught." He warned, grateful to Elaine for putting her trust into him, grateful that she was kind enough to do so - any other cop would of left him and Sam to rot. Looking to Elaine, Dean paused. "Thank you." He smiled genuinely. "For letting us do this."

Katie nodded. "Alright, fine." She folded her arms across her chest, getting a better look at the taller man now that he was in full view. Keeping her professional demeanor, Katie directed her gaze elsewhere. "Well, we gotta get out of here before someone comes back and sees that we've basically handed ourselves a one way ticket to getting fired." She explained. "So can we skip the pleasantries and get going?"

Elaine watched him for a moment, nervous about this, but she nodded slightly. “Just… Make sure to get rid of the problem and we’ll hopefully be back here before anybody notices we’re gone,” she muttered quietly in response, unsure of how to feel about this. A part of her was nervous about somebody finding out or about these two tricking them, but the bigger part wanted to stop what was happening, and if it took these two to make it happen, she’d just go with it.

Sam offered a smile to Katie, mildly amused that she was worried about somebody finding them, but he nodded, agreeing with her. “Yeah, let’s go,” he decided quietly, looking to Dean before he nodded. “You ready to go, Dean?” he asked before blinking as he looked to the women, “We’re gonna need a ride to our car to get a few things, though, if we’re gonna kill this thing.” And, the sooner they got that done, the better; hopefully, this would all be over before long.

Dean nodded. "Hopefully, the Djinn will be distracted by new victims, so..." He was cut off though, by Elaine's walkie talkie going off, telling that the cruel old wench from earlier, Janet, had gone missing. Dean looked to Sam, the message alone having proved their innocent on at least one account of their accusations, because they'd been with Elaine and Katie the whole time. "See? Hopefully that'll distracted enough to get us in and out without much thought." He told Elaine. Looking to Sam though, he nodded. "Ready."

Katie nodded. "We can borrow one of the cars, where's your car?" She asked. "Make, model?" She raised her eyebrows, going to the computer quickly to see if the police had confiscated the car, or if it was still in the place Dean had left it. Although she was interrupted by a young, new intern, Sean, walking into the office, blinking in surprise when he saw Dean and Sam out of their cells.

"Please don't say you've let them out." He begged to the girls.

Elaine listened quietly, rubbing at her face when she heard her walkie talkie. “Crap,” she muttered quietly, chewing on her lip because this wasn’t good, it wasn’t good at all. Breathing out, she blinked as she listened to Dean’s words. “And what are the chances of getting the victims back alive?” She paused, though, seeing Sean, and she shifted, unsure of how to explain the situation.

“It’s a ‘67 Impala,” Sam told her as he watched her, though he hoped that they wouldn’t have to get it out of impound, aware that somebody might have gone through their things if that had been the case and the last thing they needed was to not have all of their weapons there, prepared. Hearing another voice, though, he looked over in shock. “It’s not what it looks like,” he tried quickly, frowning.

Dean looked to Elaine, before looking to Sean. "Chances of getting victims back alive is a good one, if we work fast. About 95%." He explained calmly, not wanting to give Sean the idea that he and Sam were dangerous in any way. Still, Dean watched the young man, not wanting things to escalate. "Hey man, we're not dangerous."

Sean frowned. "Do you two never listen to a word that Janet says?!" He asked, panicking over the whole situation. "They're wanted criminals!"

Katie rolled her eyes with Sean's rambling as she typed away. "The Impala is due to be towed in the next hour, we could get to it before then." She told Sam, looking to him. "By the looks of it, it's on Baker Street, where you two were arrested."

Elaine watched Sean in shock, watching him. “Sean, we’re gonna bring them right back,” she said quickly, carefully, trying to think of a way to convince him to back off. “We need information, we need help, and they’re willing to give it and they agreed to getting brought back here.”

Sam frowned deeply as he watched Sean and he held up his hands in defense. “Really, man, we’re just trying to help,” he told him before he peered over at Katie. “Good, we have an hour to get there, that’s enough time, so long as we can get out of this mess.” And, the sooner they got there, the better.

Sean looked between Elaine and Katie. "That doesn't matter! You're going against Janet's rules, again, and these guys are dangerous! They'll probably kill you and take off again, they were difficult to catch the first time!"

Dean looked to the new intern, Sean, with raised eyebrows, keeping his hands up in surrender because the officer was clearly panicking about something. "We only wanna help, and we can help." Dean spoke firmly. "But you gotta trust us that we won't take off running, man. Innocent lives are being taken, what part of that don't you understand?" He looked to Elaine for back up.

Katie rolled her eyes and watched Sean, looking between Sam and Dean and the intern that had only been hired three weeks ago. "Sean, the more time you spend panicking, the more people are gonna die, and it's a risk I'm not willing to take today, alright?" Katie approached Sean, grabbing his wrist and handcuffing him to the table, putting the key in her pocket. "You three just gonna stand there?"
