Ryker sat in the coffee shop and looked over the paper in front of him. He felt like he had met countless people over the last week. He had been searching for someone to be a nanny for his daughter Mina since his job was so demanding lately. He had been intereview them without Mina to see if he even liked them and then he would let them meet Mina. Though he had yet to find that special person that he felt was good enough for his daughter. He took a sip of his coffee, then looked up as the door opened. He smiled when he noticed it was Kaylin, the girl he was meeting today. He stood up as she approached the table. "Kaylin? I'm Ryker." He said, shaking her hand. He sat down with her, "Would you like a coffee?" He asked. He didn't mind getting her something. His mom had actually recommended her to him because she knew her mother from some country club event. Ryker looked at her, "So have you done this before in the past?" He asked her. He wanted to make sure that he had someone with experience that could handle Mina. Sure she was a good kid, but sometimes she could be a little spoiled. Though Ryker took completely responsibility for her being the way she was. He gave her whatever she wanted and most of the time she got her way if it was in reason. It had just been the two of them since his girlfriend passed away a year after Mina was born. "Why don't you tell me some more about yourself. I know you filled out all this paper work, but I feel like hearing it from you will make me feel more connected with you." He said as he relaxed.

Kaylin was beyond nervous as she made her way to the coffee shop. She gave herself one more look over before smoothing out the bottom of her dress and smiling. Taking a deep breath before she opened the door to the coffee shop, Kaylin immediately noticed Ryker. Her mother had taken the liberty to show her pictures of him when she told Kaylin about the job opportunity. She smiled as she shook his hand, “Its a pleasure to meet you, I’d love a coffee.” Kaylin took the opportunity to look him over as they sat down. “I have, I was a nanny for John and Grace Conway, taking care of their two daughters before they decided to move away,” she wanted to make a good impression so she was trying to keep her calm. Hearing him ask about her, Kaylin took a moment to think, “I’ll be honest with you, I love being a nanny. While I was in school, I watched children all the time so it’s always been a passion of mine. I’m easy going to an extent, but not so much that things get out of hand.” Kaylin continued to tell Ryker about herself, “When I get in a position like this I do my best to adapt to the children I take care of, I want them to be comfortable.”

Ryker nodded then got the waitress, letting Kaylin order. He listened to her talk, taking in everything she was saying. She seemed very passionate about taking care of children. A few of the others seemed more interested in him than Mina. Though as one of the most eligable bachelor's in town he was expecting to get women who wanted just that. Ryker nodded, "Well, I work pretty long hours so you would be spending a lot of time with Mina. There are times that I go out of town for a day or two. Would you be able to handle that? I would give you a room and anything you need at my house of course." He told her. Ryker smiled as she said that she was laid back, "Trust me there will be times you will need to put your foot down with Mina. She is very...strong willed." He said, trying to think of the best term for his daughter. He wanted her to think as an individual though. "I encourage her to be her own person and try new things." He explained. "Though she is respectful. For a four year old that is." He said, chuckling. He really did like the vibe he got from Kaylin. She seemed like a nice person, "I think I would like you to meet Mina. Would you like to do that?" He asked her.

Kaylin listened as Ryker explained his job, “I’d be fine with that.” She was used to being with children for a long period of time. Kaylin laughed softly as he spoke about Mina, seeing how much he loved and cared for his daughter. It seemed like he was really taking his time to find someone for Mina, and that showed he was a dedicated father. Even though he was gone a lot, he wanted to make sure Mina was in good hands, and Kaylin liked that about him. When he mentioned meeting Mina, Kaylin smiled, “I’d love to meet her.” She was hoping that this would mean she was that much closer to getting the position.

Ryker smiled when she said she wanted to meet Mina. "Great. We can go now if you want." He suggested. "My mom is watching her at my house. You can just follow me there." He said as he paid their bill. He got up, waiting for her then walked to his car. He waited for her before he pulled out and drove to his house. He parked, getting out of the car. Ryker waited for her, then walked inside, shutting the door behind them. "I'm home." He called. He smirked as he heard the sound of Mina running upstairs. She came down the stairs, slamming into his legs as she hugged him. "Well hello to you too." He said, chuckling as he picked her up. He kissed her cheek, "Mina, I have someone I want you to meet." He said, looking at Kaylin. "This is Kaylin. Kaylin this is Mina." He told her. He smiled at Mina looked at her for a moment, taking in the new person in her house.

Mina smiled, "Hi." She chirped. She wiggled out of her daddy's arms and looked at Kaylin, "Do you drink tea?" She asked her. "Grandma is making some if you want some." She said, looking up at the woman in front of her. She looked at her daddy then motioned him down to her level. "Do you think she likes me?" She whispered.

Ryker chuckled, "I think so." He said, laughing as Kaylin smiled at his daughter.

Kaylin was excited to be meeting Mina. She followed Ryker back to his house and inside. Hearing Mina run down the stairs, Kaylin couldn’t help smiling as she saw the little blonde run into her dad. “I’d love some tea,” She smiled at the little girl. Watching Mina get Ryker to kneel down by her, she couldn’t help laughing softly. It was adorable to see the two together and how happy Mina was to see her father.

Mina smiled when Kaylin agreed to have tea, "I will tell grandma." She said. She took off towards the kitchen, "Grandma!" She called as she disappeared into the kitchen. "We need another cup because we have a guest." She said as she climbed into the chair in front of the kitchen island. When her grandma asked who she pointed at Kaylin as she walked in with her daddy. Mina rested her elbows on the counter, her chin in her hands as her eyes moved with her grandma around the kitchen.

Ryker walked with Kaylin into the kitchen then leaned against the counter as he watched Kaylin with Mina.

Carol, Ryker's mom, looked at Kaylin. "It's great to see you again Kaylin. How is your mother?" She asked. She knew Kaylin from hanging out with her parents.

Mina slid Kaylin a napkin, "That's for you," She said before giving her an empty tea cup and a saucer, "and that." She said straightening it. She watched as her grandma poured the tea. Mina sighed as her grandma asked her daddy if he wanted any. "Grandma...daddy doesnt drink tea. Is this your first time here?" She asked, sighing as her grandma laughed a little.

Kaylin followed Mina into the kitchen and smiled as she saw Carol moving about. “It’s nice to see you again too, she’s great. She was talking about giving you a call sometime soon,” Kaylin told her. She turned her attention to Mina and gladly took the napkin, cup, and saucer, “Why thank you.” Kaylin told Mina with a smile. She couldn’t help laughing softly as Mina spoke, quickly realizing the spunk the four year old had.

Glancing over at Ryker for a moment, noticing how he watched what Mina did. She was starting to see that Ryker was doing everything in his power to keep Mina happy and comfortable.

Ryker watched as his mom poured then tea then moved over to Mina, "What did you have for lunch?" He asked her as he leaned against the counter, watching her. He watched as she pushed her hair out of her face and looked at him. He moved her hair blonde hair behind her shoulders as she did so. She was everything to him and all that he had left to Holly. She acted more like her every day to the point where it hurt to look at her sometimes.

Mina looked at her daddy, "We had peanut butter and jelly sandwiches and strawberries." She said, happily. She turned her attention back to her tea as her grandma put honey and sugar in it. she looked at Kaylin, "This tea is the best." She said.

Ryker smiled as he watched Kaylin with Mina. He thought she would be perfect to watch Mina but he had to make sure Mina wanted that as well. Once Mina finished her tea he turned to her, "Mina, how would you like it if Kaylin stayed with you while I am at work?" He asked her.

Mina moved her hair again and looked at Kaylin. She looked back at her daddy and nodded, "Yea I like that." She said. She looked at Kaylin, "Does that mean you will be here alllll the time?" She asked her.

Ryker smiled as he watched her. He could tell Kaylin was just as interested in her as everyone was.

Watching the two interact, Kaylin couldn’t help smiling. Kaylin took a sip of her own tea and smiled at Mina, nodding in agreement, “I’d have to say of all the tea I’ve had to drink, this is the best by far.” Seeing the smile that crossed Mina’s face was priceless.

Her stomach was twisting into knots as Ryker asked Mina if she would like her to watch her. Kaylin wasn’t sure why, but she was nervous that the four year old wouldn’t like her, a wave of relief washed over her when Mina said yes. Kaylin raised an eyebrow when Mina asked if she would be there all the time, “Well, I think right now I’m just going to be here with you while your dad is working, but I’m looking forward to watching you.”

Mina looked at her, "Well that will be all the time because he works a lot." She said, smiling as she climbed down from her chair. She left them all going to her playroom.

Ryker looked at Kaylin, "I told you she had a lot of energy." He said laughing. He moved away the counter, "Come to my office." He said. He wanted to go over her pay. He walked into the office closing the door behind them. He sat down at his desk and pulled out a few papers. He slid on to her, "That is what you will be paid. You can decide if you want a check or if you want me to just put it in through direct deposit." He told her. He was paying her a lot to take care of Mina. Ryker handed her another paper, "I need you to sign that. Though I hate to I need you to sign a nondisclosure agreement. It basically just says that if you over hear me saying something about work that you wont go share the information with another company. Which I dont think will be a problem." He said, smiling. He handed her a pen and leaned back against his chair.

Kaylin watched as Mina took off to her playroom. She followed Ryker to his office and sat down across from him. Looking over the paper for her pay, she nodded, “I’m thinking direct deposit, just make it easier.” She looked at him when he gave her the non disclosure agreement, “Its not a problem at all.” Kaylin read it over quickly before signing it. Kaylin would never imagine giving someone else information about Ryker’s business. After signing the paper, she slid it back across his desk.

Ryker smiled, "Alright great just bring you bank information when you come next time." He said as he got to his feet. "Would you like me to show you around?" He asked her. He knew she would want to know where a lot of the stuff was. He walked out and led her through his house, "Mina spends a lot of time between her playroom and her bedroom." He told her as he led her outside onto the patio, "This is the pool area. Of course if Mina wants to come out here you are more than welcome to it." He said before he led her back inside and upstairs. He opened the one guest room door, "This is where you will be staying if you ever need to. It has it's own bathroom so you will have privacy." He said. He motioned to the room across the hall, "Mina's room." He said. Her room match her personality with an array of colors and toys. "Her playroom is right next door and then there is a bathroom down the hall to the left. Then the double doors at the end of the hallway is my room." He explained. He smiled as Mina came out of the playroom with one of her dolls in her hands.

Mina looked at Kaylin, "Do you want to see my toys?" She asked her. She grabbed her hand and led her into her playroom.

Ryker leaned against the door frame, "I think you need to clean up some in here." He teased his daughter.

Mina sighed, "Daddy, I'm not done playing yet." She said, going back to giving Kaylin her attention.

“I’ll make sure to bring it next time,” Kaylin said as she followed his actions and stood up. Hearing him ask if she wanted to be shown around, she nodded, “Yeah.” She followed him around the house, taking in each room and everything he was telling her. When they reached the guest room, Kaylin took a few minutes to look it over.

Kaylin followed Mina into the playroom, smiling as she looked at the toys the little girl had. “You’ve got quite a collection in here, Mina,” Kaylin said, giving the girl a small smile. She looked back at Mina, “Do you have any favorite toys?” She asked.

Mina smiled when she asked if she had favorite toys, "Yes." She said. She started grabbing some and setting them on the small table. They ranged from dolls to art stuff to stuffed animals. "All of these." she said, smiling. She noticed her daddy slipped away. She moved close to Kaylin, "Can I show you something?" She asked her. She took her hand and led her to her bedroom, shutting the door. She opened her closet door and climbed in the back, grabbing a teddy bear. "This one is my favorite." She said. She climbed on her bed, "My momma gave it to me. I hide it though. I makes daddy sad sometimes." She said as she stared at the bear in her hands.

Kaylin watched as Mina gathered her favorite toys. She raised an eyebrow as Mina moved around the room. Seeing her open the closet and climb to the back, pulling out a teddy bear. Hearing her say the bear was from her mom, Kaylin nodded. She realized that Mina had caught on to Ryker’s emotions, and being only four years old, Kaylin was impressed. “It’s a lovely bear, I’m sure your momma would be ecstatic to see you still have it,” She felt for both Mina and Ryker, they had lost someone so important. Kaylin’s mother had told her all about Mina’s mom, courtesy of Carol of course.

Mina looked at her, "Yea, but it stays in here." She said as she climbed off the bed and neatly put it back before closing her closet door. "Are you going to stay for dinner or do you gotta go home?" She asked her as she climbed up on the bed again. She pushed her hair out of her face, "I think we will have fun." She said.

Ryker stood downstairs after his mom left and started to make dinner. He decided to make chicken and garlic potatoes since it was quick and easy. He was pretty exhausted after working all morning then meeting people. He started the food then answered some emails from his phone. He looked up as Kaylin entered the kitchen, "Everything alright?" He asked her.

Hearing Mina ask if she was staying for dinner, Kaylin took a moment to think about it, “I’d love to stay for dinner.” She smiled at Mina, “I think so too.” Kaylin was already excited to start watching Mina, already seeing how much energy and imagination she had. She made her way from the playroom down to the kitchen, “Eveything’s fine, Mina asked if I’d like to stay for dinner.” Kaylin laughed softly, “She’s a very sweet girl.”
