Wendalyn offered a weak, amused smile in response to her friend’s words, and she shrugged gently. “Even if they do suck, at least it’s better than sitting in our rooms all day, waiting for surgeries,” she murmured quietly, her fingers toying with the fabric of her blanket. Her gaze went to the band when somebody spoke, though, and she paused when she saw the speaker’s gorgeous blue eyes land her. She quickly tried to convince herself that she was imagining things, especially when she saw his smile, and her fingers curled tighter into her blanket as she tried to ignore her nerves.
Ashton laughed from where he was. “Does it surprise you, Cal?” he asked with amusement.
Michael offered a grin in response to his friends. “Oi, you’ll get over it, I’m sure. It’s not like I wounded your pride or anything,” he joked lightly as he shifted to get comfortable on the stool he was sitting on, his gaze sweeping over the patients and nurses and doctors there. When his gaze fell on one specific girl, though, he couldn’t tear his gaze away, in awe of her beauty, of how truly gorgeous she was, and he cleared his throat a bit, offering a smile to her before he could stop himself. Getting comfortable, he began playing the song, hoping to impress her, though he wasn’t sure where that hope came from so suddenly.
