Luke was unsure why the circumstacnes that had led up to this point in his life had happened so fast, but he wasn't going to be quick to complain. He tread carefully down the hallway of his house, looking at the various photos of him and his band-mates, the cover art for their various albums in frames, and Luke couldn't help but smile with just how far they'd made it. Still, everything had felt ethereal, almost. All he knew is that he'd met someone called The Architect, who Luke had said goodbye to almost as quickly as he'd said hello. Still, looking around, Luke smiled, a strange sense of content washing over him, the calmest he'd felt in so long. Walking into the sitting room, Luke smiled as he sunk down into one of the armchairs, just taking the moment to exhale, wanting to explore further but just wanting to take a moment to collect himself.

Stella sat out in the garden, watching her Golden Retriever, Bobby, run up and down the grass with a wild wonder, shaking her head in amusement. Being here had been nothing short of incredible - she knew that this was some sort of Heaven, and it was everything she'd wanted it to be, and more. She lived in a beautiful house, on a beautiful neighbourhood with a good friend living next door, and Stella would honestly say to anyone that asked that this place was paradise, not that anyone would deny that. Everyone Stella knew was content here, and she wondered why she'd waited so long to accept the possibility of what came after the inevitable.

Daina had climbed onto her roof, enjoying the way the sun felt on her skin. The weather was always just right in the Good Place, as the Architect had called it when she very first showed up here several months ago - or had it been a year or two? With how good the days were as they passed, it was hard to keep track of the days or even be worried about the amount of time that had passed. She knew how she'd ended up here; she was very aware of the circumstances that had brought her here, but this place was perfect - her home had a fireplace, and she loved fireplaces, but it was also a simple home, a nice one that she loved. Her attention got caught, though, when a screen appeared in front of her, The Architect's way of calling them.

The Architect was calling both Daina and Stella and, once the screen had linked to both of them, he smiled. "Hello, Stella Rae and Daina Sharp," he greeted them, "I need you both to meet me at The Fountain." There was only one, so he knew they'd know where he wanted them to go. "I have wonderful news for you both."

Michael, when he'd first arrived at the Good Place just a little over a half hour ago, hadn't really understood what was going on. It'd taken a while for it to settle in that he was dead, but, when he'd stepped into his home in this Paradise place, he was easily distracted by it all. At least he was in an amazing place, even if he'd died far too young. His eyes took in his new home - pictures of him and his friends, his band-mates, his family all scattered around the walls but in a neat manner, and his heart swelled with the knowledge that he'd had an amazing life, even though he wished it hadn't ended so soon. Shaking the thought away, he explored further, finding a room full of guitars - amazing guitars, even - and another room, a recording room, and it felt so amazing to call this place his, to call all of this his. Peering around, he headed to the kitchen, figuring that, while he probably didn't need to eat, surely he could, right?

Stella blinked with the Architect's words, but nodded still, tucking a stray strand of hair behind her ear, her curiosity so easily caught with the words he'd spoken. Wonderful news. This place was wonderful enough as it is, she wondered what could possibly make it better? Still, as the screen disappeared, Stella scratched behind Bobby's ear before standing to her feet. Exiting her large garden through the gate connected to the white, picket fence, Stella made her way to The Fountain, watching the water seamlessly flowing.

Luke blinked in surprise as a screen appeared in front of him, wondering if that was normal. With the knowledge that he was dead, Luke wasn't sure he was ready to accept it quite yet. He was still young, there was still so much for him to do, but this Good Place had been so perfect, Luke was sure that, instead of being dead, he was just dreaming, although his logical side was telling him otherwise, every bit of common sense screaming at him - and this screen, appearing in front of him suddenly, almost ruined the illusion of dreams. Hearing a voice speak his name, Luke blinked in surprise once more, Luke was asked to make his way to The Fountain, and he nodded, being told he'd know it when he saw it, there was only one in the Good Place. "Okay."

Daina stared as the screen disappeared, the space in the air returning to normal. Curious and eager to discover what exactly the Architect had in store, she made her way to the edge of the roof carefully to climb down - not that falling would actually hurt her. Chewing on her lip nervously, she made her way to The Fountain, though she smiled when she saw Stella already there. "Hey," she greeted before she moved to sit down on the edge of the fountain.

"Hello, girls," the Architect greeted with a smile as he approached them.

Michael had been taking in everything still, processing, before a screen had appeared in front of him - and, after the Architect had told him to meet him at The Fountain for 'wonderful news,' the screen had disappeared as quickly as it had appeared. Still, he found himself staring at the empty space for a few long moments before he stood up and made his way out of the house, curious about this... World, this 'Good Place,' but also feeling that curiosity growing as he searched for The Fountain.

Stella watched the water for a moment, appreciating how calm it was. Still, she heard a greeting from behind her, and turning to look, Stella smiled as she saw Daina. "Hey yourself." She greeted happily, sitting beside her on the edge of the fountain, listening to the water for a long moment. "What do you think this wonderful news is?" She asked, raising her eyebrows. Hearing The Architect, Stella lifted her gaze and offered the entity a smile. "Hello."

Luke walked down the street, just taking in the serenity of the Good Place. Although Luke had always feared what came after death, this seemed like a good resting place to spend eternity. Stuffing his hands into the pockets of his jeans, Luke heard the flow of water and wondered if that was the fountain where is presence was needed. Following the sound, Luke paused as he saw two girls sat on the edge of the fountain, his gaze instantly gravitating towards the blonde, the one with kind eyes and a beautiful smile, and Luke stopped a short distance away as he saw the Architect, clearing his throat to make himself known. "Uh, hi." He studied the blonde once more, toying with his lower lip and just swearing to himself how he'd never seen anyone so gorgeous.

"I have no idea," Daina admitted with faint amusement, though she couldn't think of a single thing that could make this place better than what it already was. "I honestly can't think of a single thing that it could be, especially for him to call us specifically." Shrugging gently, she let herself relax before her gaze went to the Architect when he'd shown up and spoken. "Hi there." Offering a smile, she watched, waiting, but she blinked when she heard another voice and her gaze went to the source and, for a moment, she found herself in complete awe of the man who stood there. Something about him - something she couldn't quite put her finger on - had her completely frozen as she took him in, finding him just so perfect.

The Architect smiled slightly, watching, before he nodded to the girls, then looked to Luke. "We're just waiting on your friend, Michael, then we can get on to the wonderful news I have for you four," he informed.

Michael had been approaching about this time, close enough to hear his name mentioned, but he couldn't really focus on what the Architect was saying, his gaze going to a stunning brunette who'd been sitting on the fountain. His breathing had nearly hitched in his throat - not that he really needed to breathe, he assumed, since he was dead, his mind still wrapping around that. But, in that moment, seeing that woman, he swore he'd never felt more alive. Chewing on his lip, he grinned slightly, unable to help it, and he made his way closer. "Uh, I'm here," he mentioned to the Architect, nodding slightly, offering a grin to his friend before he settled his gaze back on the brunette, finding himself never wanting to look away.

"Wonderful!" the Architect declared happily before he smiled and motioned for the girls to stand. "Now, for my news - Stella Rae, I would like you to meet Michael Clifford." He motioned between Stella and Michael, smiling. "Michael Clifford, this is Stella Rae. And I am absolutely pleased to inform you both that you are each other's soulmates." He then smiled to Luke and Daina. "Daina Sharp, this is Luke Hemmings - and Luke Hemmings, this is Daina Sharp. And, while this news is rare, it seems we have two in one day, because you two happen to be soulmates as well."

Stella nodded with Daina's words, but still, she studied the Architect for a long moment, wondering what it was he wanted from them. Seeing Luke, Stella blinked with the Architect's words, wondering who Michael was, and wondering if the boys were new here. Still, when she saw another boy approach, Stella blinked a few times, mostly in surprise, her whole world stopping to a crawling motion as she watched him, just appreciating his beauty, his smile, the way he chewed his lip, how he stirred something within her that was a little overwhelming. Stella had never seen perfection, but then she saw it within the boy - presumably named Michael. She offered him a smile, but she turned to look at the Architect as he spoke, running her fingers along the top of the water. Standing to her feet, Stella gave Michael another smile, but she blinked once more when she heard the term 'soulmate'. "Pardon?" She asked in disbelief. "Soulmates are a thing?"

Luke had barely been able to tear his gaze away from the blonde, too enthralled by her perfection. Not that he wanted to look away, he was perfectly content just watching her, committing her mannerisms and the colour of her eyes and the shape of her lips to his memory, never wanting to forget that little piece of Heaven. Still, Luke went a little closer as the Architect motioned for the girls to stand, just wanting to get closer to the beauty known as Daina. Luke didn't even let the word 'soulmate' phase him. "Wow." He murmured happily. "Well, Daina, it's... it's amazing to meet you." He smiled, keeping his voice steady, not wanting to startle her, offering her his hand in greeting. Looking to the Architect though, Luke nodded. "So, does this mean anything specific, or did you just want us to know?"

The Architect smiled to Stella's words, and he nodded. “That's right, soulmates are a thing,” he confirmed before he looked to Luke, listening to his question. “It's mostly to let you know. I prefer to ensure that everybody has every chance of happiness here, so ensuring that everybody meets their soulmate here is essential, to me. That aside, there are special circumstances when it comes to this, considering that neither Stella nor Daina are dead-dead. I'll leave that to them to explain, though.”

Michael’s mind ran over everything the Architect was saying, quietly taking it all in. Prior to the moment he’d seen Stella, he never would have even thought to believe in even the possibility if soulmates and, under normal circumstances, he would have laughed and called the Architect crazy. But, after seeing Stella, after experiencing the way his heart both sped up and slowed down with seeing her, with how he already just wanted to always see her smile, he swore he never believed in anything more. “It's a pleasure to meet you, Stella,” he greeted, offering a small grin at her, though he blinked with confusion, looking to the Architect. “What do you mean Stella's not dead-dead? Then how is she here?”

Daina watched quietly, listening as she examined the others, curious about their reactions, but her attention mostly fell on Luke as she wondered whether it was truly possible to have a soulmate. Chewing on her lip, she wasn't sure how great the news was - after all, the Architect was right, neither she nor Stella were dead-dead. There was the chance that she could wake up, even if that chance was slim, very slim. “It's great to meet you, Luke,” she said eventually anyways, offering a weak smile, though she ducked her head, unsure of how to explain the situation.

Stella offered Michael a smile, her heart racing in her chest as she took a step forward, only a small step, despite the significance it held. Still, Stella took that moment of Michael's distraction to really study him, biting her lip, swearing to herself that before she had seen Michael, such perfection didn't exist. "It's lovely to meet you, Michael." She smiled weakly, tucking a stray strand of hair behind her ear, but she stopped herself from rolling her eyes at the Architect's terminology. "I'm in a coma." She told Michael, frowning with the thought. "I uh, don't know much outside of that, but I'm half dead in some hospital bed. I was brought here out of mercy." She explained gently.

Luke's eyebrows furrowed in curiosity. "So uh, what does dead-dead mean?" He asked, still studying Daina, unable to tear his eyes away from her. She was the most beautiful thing that Luke had ever seen, and he'd seen so much beauty from travelling the world with 5 Seconds of Summer. Still, Luke nodded along to the Architect's words, appreciaiting the fact that he was told, almost unable to believe that he met his soulmate through death instead of life. "Could you wake up?" He asked, slightly worried about the possibility already, no matter how selfish that was.

Michael watched Stella when she moved closer to him and, watching her, he couldn’t help but to take in more of her features with her being closer, mentally tucking away the shape of her lips and eyes, the light in her eyes, and he listened to her explanation quietly. “Does that mean you could just… Wake up one day and not be here anymore?” he asked quietly, surprised at how the very thought of it suddenly upset him, though he knew that was unfair - Stella deserved to live her life, if she still had time to live it, but he just… Already didn’t want to lose her.

The Architect listened quietly. “Dead-dead means that your heart has stopped,” he explained.

Daina shifted a bit with the question and she shrugged slowly. “Like Stella, I’m in a coma, so… Yeah, I could wake up,” she said after a moment, “But, um, it’s unlikely. Coma patients who don’t wake up after a certain amount of time have a less likely chance of waking up, so…” She offered a weak smile, shrugging again, because talking about her own eventual death-death was awkward. And, even if she woke up, she wouldn’t really have anything to wake up to, but she didn’t want to admit to that.

Stella studied Michael, shrugging with his question. "I suppose so." She tucked a piece of hair behind her ear. "But, the longer my physical form is in a coma, the less chance I'm ever gonna come back around." She explained, although she hated the thought of it. Sometimes, even more so with Michael here now, she wished that her body would just give out on her so she could stay here. "So, I guess it's nothing you have to worry about." She offered him a weak smile, wanting to change the subject, because the fact of the matter was: she was stuck between a rock and a hard place, somewhat. She didn't make that decision, whether she lived or not, but both scenarios would suck.

Luke nodded at The Architect's explanation, but looked to Daina, nodding. A part of him - a selfish part of him - hoped that she would never leave him, because this place was wonderful, but with Daina here, Luke felt as though his luck was in it's prime. "I guess I just have to make the most of you being here." He smiled, watching Daina closely. "I'd love to get to know you more." And although he felt like he'd known Daina all of their lives, he still wanted to explore her further, just really get to know her, because there was something about her that Luke couldn't deny captured him, and the whole soulmate was so insignificant to him, because he felt the pull before he was even told that she was destined for him.

Michael listened to her quietly, but he nodded in understanding, though his heart ached with the thought of her dying - and it ached with the thought of her waking up and leaving him, too. “I guess so,” he murmured quietly as he watched her, “Though are you… Okay with that? With dying?” Because he wanted what was best for her, whatever it was.

Daina offered a weak smile to Luke and nodded slightly. “Yeah,” she murmured quietly as she watched him, “That would be the best option, I think.” And, she didn’t want to think about leaving him, but she knew it was a low possibility anyway, so she tried not to think about it too much, tried not to worry about it.

The Architect watched the couples for a moment but soon smiled. “Well, then, I’ll leave you lot to it,” he said, nodding before he backed away and turned, leaving them alone.

Stella smiled softly as Michael nodded, trying to decipher his thoughts; because there was something behind his eyes that told Stella he was thinking quite hard about something. Shifting closer as Michael spoke, Stella licked her lips, knowing it was her turn to think, but she didn't have to think for long. "I'm okay with dying now I've met you." Stella murmured, lifting her gaze. "Maybe the coma was meant to happen." And she didn't want to leave Michael now she'd found him.

Luke shifted closer as Daina offered him a weak smile, because the gravitational pull he felt towards her was something magnificent, something he couldn't describe, but didn't want to, because he wanted the feeling to belong to him only. "You think?" Luke repeated, shifting a little closer still, closing the gap as he gently took her hand in his own. "Or you know?" Luke offered a gentle smile, squeezing her hand. "Sometimes we just know these things, you know?" And realising he was rambling, Luke blinked in embarrassment before ducking his head a little bit.

Michael felt his heart hurt a bit with Stella’s words - because while they were sweet and he liked having her here with him, he hated knowing that she suffered so. “Maybe,” he agreed quietly, but left it at that, instead offering a small smile as he offered his hand to her, watching her still. “How about we go do something, then? Since we’ve got eternity together here, might as well get started, yeah?”

Daina watched Luke for a few long moments, her pulse racing in her ears when she felt him take her hand, and she swore she’d never felt more alive than she did in that moment. “I guess that makes sense,” she murmured quietly, shifting a bit to intertwine her fingers with his, returning the squeeze as she offered a smile. “I think you’re right.”
