You got a lot of nerve and
    Looks like the tables turning
And now you're wishing me well like you miss me
You got a dirty tongue and
Looks like the damage done is forever
And it's a long time to miss me
    Whoa oh, no
And it's a long time to miss me
    Whoa oh, no

Amelia didn't even bother struggling against the handcuffs anymore, knowing that it was a waste of time. Sitting in the back seat of the police cruiser with Kensley by her side, Amelia heaved out an over exaggerated sigh. "That stupid fucking party was today, Mom's gonna kill the both of us. And then your Mom," she looked to her best friend then. "Is gonna revive us. And kill us both again." She rolled her eyes as she looked out of the back window, the black tint making the world outside seem so grey, so dull. "Charlie, can't you just drop us off here?" She asked with an almost pleading tone.

Charlie, the police officer driving the vehicle, laughed, having known the girls since before they were in pre-school. "If you both learned to behave, that would be a different thing all together." He spoke softly, knowing that the girls weren't bad in character, just hurt and easily influenced by others. "I hate having to do this girls, but rules are rules." He parked up outside the Sawyer household, looking at the pair in the rear view mirror before climbing out to open the back door.

Luke sipped a beer as he watched the scenario in front of him. Being back in the Sawyer house was so strange to him, but it felt good to be surrounded by the people he considered closest to him - the Pope's from next door, his own parents, Calum's parents and Kensley's parents, too... but speaking of the girl, Luke frowned when he noticed she'd not been around at all, her parents having told her that she was out, and Luke wondered just how much Kensley had changed. She was heading for her 15th birthday the last time Luke saw her, and he was curious to see how time had changed her.

Kensley made a face at the mention of the party, scoffing lowly, because the last thing she wanted was to be at that party. "Better idea, Charlie, can't you just lock us up for the night?" she asked with a pout, "I'd rather be behind bars than in that house tonight." She didn't want to see Luke. "You can call it protective custody. I mean, Amy's right - our parents are gonna kill us. Isn't it your job to protect the citizens?" She was doing her best to pull out all the stops, desperate to be anywhere but here, but she made a face when Charlie opened the door. Sighing, she looked to Amy. "We could make a run for it?" She didn't even care that she was saying it in front of Charlie, really.

Calum leaned back in his seat, peering around at the others. He was sat next to Luke, though he found himself wondering where Amelia was. Her parents had excused her absence, letting him know that she was busy doing something else, but the whole reason Calum had even agreed to come to this party was to see her. It'd felt like too long since he'd seen the girl he'd taken under his wing before and he knew it was his fault that he hadn't been around for her, but he hoped she'd understood. "Think they'll show up at all?" he asked quietly, looking to Luke as he arched a brow, "Maybe they're trying to avoid us." He grinned, trying to play it off as a joke, though a part of him was actually worried about it. He blinked, though, when he heard a car pull up and, looking towards the window, he saw the flashing lights of a police car, his heart sinking. Had something happened to Amelia? Was she okay?

Luke looked to Calum as he spoke, having been people watching instead of interacting. "I hope so," Luke murmured back, exhaling as he scrubbed a hand over his face. "The only reason I came here was to see Kensley," he shrugged his shoulders lightly, but when Calum suggested the girls were avoiding them, Luke felt a stabbing pain, the whole idea hurting him more than he cared to admit. He loved Kensley like a baby sister, she meant the world to him, and she still did, but Luke knew that his neglect hadn't been fair on their friendship. Still, hearing the knock on the door, Luke looked up, seeing flashing lights of a police car outside, his heart sinking, but his attention fully on the situation.

Charlie chuckled. "Sorry, girls. I know your parents can deal with you better than I can." He smiled sympathetically at the two as he led them up the garden path, knocking the front door. "What's got you so hell bent on avoiding this place, anyway?"

Amelia looked to Kensley, nodding. "Making a run for it sounds like a great idea." She confirmed, internally cringing as Charlie knocked on the front door to the house, shifting uncomfortably against the handcuffs constricting her wrists, suddenly uncomfortable in them. Avoiding Charlie's question, Amelia looked to Kensley, ducking her head in shame in Julia Sawyer came to the door.

"Girls!" Julia frowned, crossing her arms over her chest disapprovingly, moving to let Charlie in, her frown deepening as she studied the two rebellious eighteen year olds before her. "What have they done now?"

Charlie led the girls in. "Mrs Sawyer," he nodded politely, digging the keys to the handcuffs out of his pocket. "Caught these two trying to shoplift a bottle of vodka." He explained, undoing the handcuffs.

Amelia rubbed at her wrists with a frown, lifting her head at last. "Okay, okay, spare the details."

Calum nodded slightly with Luke's words. "I know what you mean," he admitted quietly, "I'm really only here to see Amelia myself." He still felt awful for everything that had happened and he'd never gotten to explain himself - he hadn't even tried, and he knew that, but he hoped she'd give him the chance to explain everything now. When there was a knock at the door, he stood up quickly, hoping beyond hope that this wasn't one of those 'We're sorry to inform you of your loss' house calls, his heart racing in his chest, his panic building, and he wasn't sure what to expect at this point.

Kensley stared at the door, huffing quietly to herself. "Ghosts are why we're trying to avoid this place," she muttered bitterly, waiting silently, though she lifted her gaze fully when she heard her mother's voice. Following Charlie in, she stayed quiet for a few moments and tilted her head. "It would have been worth it, at least." Shrugging slightly, she rubbed at her own wrists, hesitating for a moment before she peered around, and she froze when she saw Luke, her heart throbbing painfully, and she quickly ducked her head, not wanting to face him, not wanting to talk to him, not wanting to even acknowledge him.

When Amelia was led inside, Calum paused, staring with shock. He'd known she would have grown up by now, but he never expected the girl he'd seen as a little sister for so long to absolutely take his breath away the moment he saw her. She'd matured, for sure - but her hair was also longer, she was taller, she'd really grown into her beauty, and he honestly couldn't believe that this was the same Amelia he'd known for so long. Where had the time even gone? He knew where, he knew he should have come to check in regularly, to spend time with her, to watch her grow, but seeing her like this, he wondered what exactly had happened. And, when Charlie explained the situation, he watched Amelia with concern, because he'd never expected something like that from her. But, then again, he didn't even really know her anymore, and his heart wrenched with the thought.

"What were you two thinking?" Parker, Amelia's father, asked, frowning at the pair as he made his way over. "You know that's against the law." Sighing, he scrubbed a hand across his face. "You're just lucky it was Charlie who picked you two up. If it was anybody else, you two would probably be in a cell right now."

Luke stood to his feet as a knock echoed into the room, concerned to the situation, but when the officer was invited in, followed closely by Kensley, Luke paused, swallowing the lump that suddenly appeared in his throat. Holy fuck. Luke knew that Kensley would of matured a lot since the last time they crossed paths, but God damn, she was gorgeous. Her face was more grown up, her lips had filled out, she stood taller, her hair had a shine to it that Luke couldn't even begin to describe, and Luke was almost shocked. Was this really the same fourteen year old? It seemed like only yesterday Luke was teaching Kensley to play guitar. Hearing Charlie explain the situation, Luke felt his heart clench, somewhere between sympathy and sorrow, and he toyed with his lower lip anxiously.

Charlie looked at Julia and Parker sympathetically, but looked to the girls. "This is their third, and final, warning. One more slip up and they'll receive a harsher punishment." He slipped the key of the handcuffs back into his pocket. "Girls, you're good kids." He told them honestly. "Just... don't let yourselves be misguided." He suggested, nodding at Parker and Julia before exiting, shutting the door behind him.

Amelia looked around as she felt all eyes on the scenario, and she shifted uncomfortably, but paused when she saw Calum. Looking away quickly, Amelia rolled her eyes as she listened to her Father. "Being in a cell would be a whole lot better than being here." She commented quietly, rubbing the back of her neck nervously, grabbing a can of Coke for herself, throwing one to Kensley, too.

Julia sighed. "Third and final warning, girls. What the hell were you thinking? Parker's right, you're lucky it was Charlie. What the hell has gotten into you both? You're eighteen now, it's time to grow up."

Calum watched everything quietly, though his gaze didn't leave Amelia, still in shock by the fact that the little girl he'd known had actually grown up - and grown up into a beautiful young woman at that. But, hearing everything the officer had said and how the parents were reacting, he couldn't help but wonder if she even knew that, if she knew how beautiful she was, or how much her parents cared about her. He didn't want to say anything, afraid of making things worse, but he watched anxiously, wanting more than anything to make this right, to be there for Amelia, because a part of him worried that he played a part in who she'd become.

Kensley caught the can when Amelia tossed it to her, though she frowned to her mother's words. "It's not even that big of a deal," she said with a frown, "Maybe if you'd listened when we said we don't want anything to do with this party, none of this would have happened. Just a thought." Moving past her mother, she didn't dare look at Luke and she made her way up the stairs. "You're welcome to come to my room, Amy. Everybody else can fuck right off." She knew it was rude, that nobody really deserved how she was acting, but seeing Luke had put her in a worse mood and she just wanted to get away.

Rose frowned, watching quietly, and she looked to her daughter. "Do you have anything at all to say for yourself?" she asked Amelia, "Do you have any idea what could happen to you if you keep going down this path, Amelia?"

"You need to straighten up," Parker said as he watched her, "This isn't the life you want or need."

"Kensley, get back here!" Julia frowned.

Amelia scoffed. "Get fucked, all of you." She frowned, turning on her heel and following Kensley up the stairs - not giving anyone in the room a second glance. Running a hand through her hair as she ascended the stairs, Amelia made a point of slamming Kensley's bedroom door, feeling tears burn in the back of her eyes, but quickly blinking them away, just seeing Calum having worsened her mood. She had told her parents days in advance that she didn't want to attend, she'd given them fair warning. "Fuck this," Amy frowned, sitting on the edge of the bed.

Luke watched as Kensley disappeared, and he wanted nothing more than to follow, to be there for her, to make up for time he knew he'd lost out on, and he couldn't help but wonder if his sudden disappearance had anything to play in Kensley's behaviour. He knew teenage years were difficult, dammit, he had some of the worst years of his life, and thinking about it more, Luke frowned when he realised that Kensley might have needed someone to talk to, and he hadn't of been there. Blinking with disappointment, Luke cleared his throat. "I can try and talk to Kensley, if you like, Julia." He offered.

Julia thought for a moment, before nodding. "If you can..." She sighed. "You might be able to talk some sense into her, Luke."

Kensley ignored her mother, moving to her desk when she got to her room, plugging up her stereo to play music, anything to block out what she was going through internally. "It's bullshit," she muttered, rolling her eyes once the music was playing on shuffle, and she moved to sit by her friend. "It's not fair, none of it." But what was especially not fair was the fact that Luke thought he could just drop in for the party, that he could show up at her home after the past four years of radio silence, and she could feel her fingers curling into her blanket angrily with the thought. Still, breathing out, she looked to her friend. "Are you okay?"

"I can come with," Calum offered up before he looked to Rose, offering a weak smile, "Maybe I can get through to Amelia." Either way, he wanted to talk to her. He needed to. He knew he owed her an apology for just disappearing on her, regardless of whether it had an effect on how she was acting now or not. But, he also wanted to try to get through to her to get her to realize that what she was doing wasn't the best course of action, that it really could get her hurt or worse. And, he didn't want that for her; she'd been such a good kid, and he hoped that, somewhere, somehow, he'd be able to find that part of her and reach out to her, get her to see what was going on.

Rose watched for a moment, debating, but she sighed quietly and nodded. "I'd appreciate it, Calum," she murmured honestly, "Just... Be careful what you say, alright?" She knew how much Calum leaving had affected Amelia, remembered the days Amelia would ask where Calum was or why he hadn't visited, held her the days she cried because of how much she missed her friend, all the way up until the days Amelia stopped asking about Calum at all.

Calum watched Amelia for a moment, blinking, wondering if there was something he should know, but he nodded slightly. "Alright," he assured, offering a weak smile before he turned to head upstairs first.

Amelia watched Kensley closely, but nodded when she asked if Amelia was okay. "I think so." She murmured, sighing as she fell back against the bed. "I just think that Calum has some nerve in him." She admitted. "He turns up, out of nowhere, I haven't heard anything off him in four whole fucking years, and he comes back like he deserves to." Amy frowned with the thought, rubbing at her face. "Fuck him..." She exhaled her frustration out, looking to Kensley. "Are you okay?" She asked, a little more gentle with her best friend than anyone else, running a hand through her hair, trying to hide the fact she was feeling vulnerable, reaching to grab her phone from her discarded jacket.

Luke followed Calum up the stairs, trying not to make a sound. It had been years since he'd been in this house, and still, he could carve every feature from memory. Leading Calum to the bedroom at the furthest corner of the house, Luke knocked on Kensley's bedroom door, almost with baited breath. He was nervous, he couldn't deny it, and the sudden attraction he felt towards he made Luke feel even worst, because dammit, she'd been like a little sister to him for so long. Determined to hide his own feelings, Luke waited for an answer to his knock, knowing that if he barged in there, it would just seem like he wanted to assert himself back into her life instantly.

Kensley nodded in understanding to her friend's words, sighing out quietly. "I get it," she assured quietly, staring at her wall for a long moment. "Same thing with Luke. Doesn't help that our parents decided 'hey, this is a great idea!' when it's definitely not." She scoffed lowly, chewing on her lip, feeling like, in that moment, Amelia was the only person who really understood what she was going through. "I looked up to him and he just, boom, gone. I want to hate him for it." And she felt she had every right to hate him for it, she'd tried to convince herself all the time that she hated him, but, at the end of the day, when things were at their worst or their best, Luke had always been the person she'd wanted to go to to tell, even after all these years, but she couldn't even do that. She frowned, though, when she heard the knock, and she scoffed, grabbing one of her shoes to throw at the door. "I said fuck off!"

Calum followed Luke through the house, sticking close to his friend, hoping that this would go well, but, more than anything, just wanting to talk to Amelia, wanting to hear her voice, wanting to try to understand these feelings growing in him. He knew it wasn't fair, disappearing on Amelia like that, and it would seem even worse him showing up like this and falling flat on his ass in love with her just after seeing her for a few moments, but, while he couldn't help any of that, he could at least try to help Amelia, try to figure out what he could do to make things better. When they'd gotten to the room and knocked, Calum had waited patiently, but he made a face when he heard something hit the door, followed by Kensley yelling from the other side. "Alright, maybe try again," he mentioned before he knocked on the door himself, figuring that maybe persistence would get the girls to open the door.

Scoffing lowly when she heard the second knock, Kensley rolled her eyes and moved to open the door. "What the fu-" she started, but she paused, frowning when she saw Luke and Calum there, and her eyes narrowed. "Give me one reason why I shouldn't slam this door right in your faces."

"We just wanna talk," Calum said, holding his hands up in defense, though he peeked into the room, his gaze settling on Amelia, and he watched her for a moment before he offered a weak smile. "Would that be alright with you, Amelia? I don't wanna intrude, but I want to make sure you're okay."

Amelia watched as Kensley flung open the door, but as soon as she caught sight of Luke and Calum, she stood to her feet, folding her arms across her chest. "Do you not understand the words fuck off, or has all that air really gone to your heads?" She frowned, sauntering over. "Give a good reason why she shouldn't slam this door right your faces." She repeated Kensley's words, her voice dangerously low, not caring if Calum saw this side of her - right now, she was sure he didn't deserve anything good. "I'll give you to the count of three. One."

Luke looked at Kensley. "We just want five minutes to talk to you," he studied Kensley for a long moment, trying not to make his admiration too obvious. She really had filled out every curve, and Luke knew that feeling what he did in this moment was so wrong of him, but he couldn't stop himself - it was as if something in him had ignited, something that couldn't be ignored. "Please, just to catch up, talk things out." He explained, although he was sure his attempt was going unnoticed.

    "Two." Amelia warned.

Luke looked to Kensley. "Kensley, I know you're upset, and I know I suck, but... c'mon, please, I just want to clear the air." He looked at her, almost pleadingly, wanting her to understand that he came to her now with good intentions, because he genuinely wanted to be a part of her life again, he wanted her to be in his life, too. He didn't want to miss a single moment more, because she'd meant the world to him right from the start, even with these new feelings.

"Amelia, come on," Calum said quietly, almost desperately, his heart racing at the thought that, if he didn't fix this now, he'd never get the chance to again. "I know I screwed up, okay? I know that, and I know you deserve so much better than that, because you've always been an amazing person, Amy, but I'm here now to try to fix things, so please just... Let me be here, let me fix things, let me make it up to you." And, at this point, he really was desperate. He'd gone so long without even having a conversation with Amelia, he didn't want to make things worse and go even longer. And, after seeing her again, after seeing how she'd matured, he knew he needed to make things right, that he should have made things right a long time ago.

"You want to catch up, talk things out, clear the air?" Kensley asked, watching him, her voice almost cold, her eyes narrowed. "Alright, let's leave it at this - you completely disappeared, Luke. You were my best friend, the person I looked up to most, and you just left. No goodbye, no warning, you didn't even try to reach out, you didn't talk to me at all for four years. So, yeah, you do suck. You can't just come back into my life and expect things to ever return to normal, because they won't. I stopped crying over you a long time ago, I'm not about to risk doing it all over again." She grabbed the door, then. "Three." And, she moved to close the door, but frowned when Calum stuck his foot in to block it from closing. "Oh, you've got to be fucking kidding me. I will seriously punch both of you, go away."

"I'm not going anywhere," Calum said firmly, though he didn't take his eyes off of Amelia, watching her for a long time, trying not to acknowledge how damn breathtaking she was. "I promise. Just... Give me a chance, Amy, please?"

"Screwed up?" Amelia scoffed. "No, Calum, you royally screwed up." She frowned, pushing him away from the door, crossing the threshold ever so slightly. "I looked up to you, Calum. You were the one person that made life great, and then one day, you were gone and you never called, you never text." Amelia listed off with her fingers. "You never once, in four fucking years, check on how I'm doing, like I meant nothing to you." Amelia's frown deepened. "And don't fucking call me Amy." She warned. "I cried every damn day, Calum, wondering why the fuck I wasn't good enough to be your friend anymore." She frowned. "I'm not an idiot, and I'm not going to let myself cry again."

Luke sighed, running a hand through his hair in frustration. "Kensley, please. Just five minutes, a conversation, anything..." Luke wouldn't usually resort to begging, but this girl was such a huge part of his life for a long time, and knowing he had the chance to fix things now, before he caused any more damage, was motivation enough for him to keep trying until she gave in. "Kens, I'll tell you what, you can punch me after five minutes." He promised, knowing he sounded desperate at this point, but wanting her to know he was serious - although he kept eye contact with her, all Luke wanted to do was study her further, because in the past four years, she had grown beautifully, she was a proper young woman and Luke couldn't stop those thoughts drifting through him again. "One chance. Just one."

Calum blinked, stepping back when she pushed him, and he tried not to think about the fact that having that contact had sent a shock through him, even with her anger, and he chewed on his lip as he listened to her, his heart breaking with the fact that he'd put her through all of that. "I know, I know I royally screwed up, Amy - Amelia," he said quietly as he watched her, his whole being aching with the thought that he'd caused her any pain at all. "That was never my intention. I know how unfair it was to you, I do, and I know that I fucked up on so many levels, and I'm sorry, I'm beyond sorry, I'm so sorry that I could apologize for the rest of my life and I will, I swear, if you just let me." His expression softened, though, and all he wanted to do was to reach out and hug her but, with the fact that he was feeling something for her and the fact that she wasn't very happy with him, he refrained from doing so. "It was never that you weren't good enough, Amelia. You were the best thing in my life, but I was... Chasing a dream and I got blinded by it, and I'm so incredibly sorry that you became collateral damage in that."

Kensley's jaw clenched as she listened to him, her fingers curling into fists at her sides, and she watched him for a long moment, hating that he had this effect on her. She'd sworn she was over the pain he'd put her through when she was younger, she'd been determined to put that part of her life behind her and focus on having fun, enjoying her life with people who wouldn't leave, who wouldn't abandon her, and he thought he could just show up and ruin it all? "One fucking chance, Luke," she said eventually, "One conversation, five minutes. That's all you get from me. And then you leave and you stay the fuck out of my life." Because she was sure nothing he could say could change how she felt, none of it could take away all that pain and make things okay or right again. "And don't ever call me Kens again. You lost that right four years ago."

Amelia exhaled heavily, running a hand through her hair, a habit she had when she felt she was becoming too emotional. Shaking her head with Calum's words, Amy ducked her head slightly. "What the hell gives you the right, Calum Hood, to think you can waltz back here and act like everything's okay?" She frowned, trying to ignore how her lower lip trembled, because she didn't want to show weakness in front of Calum, not at all. "I could actually hit you so hard right now." She told him, but she didn't want to lay a hand on his perfect, stupid face, and that's what infuriated her the most. "You could apologise for the rest of your life, until another dream comes along." She scoffed. "Or a girl, or another opportunity, and then I'm on the back burner. Again."

Luke felt relief wash over him when Kensley agreed to giving him five minutes of her time. "Thank you." He told her softly, following her into her bedroom, shutting the door gently behind himself. Luke was almost shocked, how the colours of the bedroom walls hadn't changed at all, but the decorations had. Instead of posters of teenage idols, it was artwork. Instead of a barren desk, it was filled with a Macbook. Instead of a small, pink wardrobe, there was a large, mahogany one in it's place. Staying stood up, Luke studied Kensley for a long moment, the guilt taking over him, the confusion following suit because being alone with her was enough to stir up those feelings inside of him even more, taking note of how much of a gorgeous young lady she'd turned into. "I am sorry, you know." He told her gently, sitting on the chair by the desk. "I was an idiot, Kensley, for letting you go. I got so caught up in the whirlwind that I lost sight of what was the most important thing to me."

Calum's expression softened when he saw the familiar habit, his heart aching for her and he hated himself for putting her through this. She'd still been a kid when he left and he couldn't imagine the pain that she'd gone through back then, how upset she must have been, how lonely or forgotten she must have felt. And a part of him worried that she still felt all of that, even if she was hiding it well. "I'm not trying to act like everything's okay, Amelia, because I know it isn't. I know I fucked up, I know I hurt you, and I know you have every right to hate my guts, but I just... I want to fix this, I want to make it up to you, because you didn't deserve any of that," he told her gently, his heart breaking when he saw her lip tremble. Before he could stop himself, he shifted, sliding his arms around her to hold her close, just wanting to comfort her even though holding her in his arms sent electricity through him in a way that he couldn't explain. "Then, hit me. Hit me as hard as you want to, as hard as you need to, as many times as it takes. I'll take every single one without complaint." His arms tightened around her, though, with her last words, his heart aching, twisting, with hearing it all. "That won't happen. You won't be put on the back burner. Never again. I won't put you through that again, Amelia, I promise." And he'd never meant anything more in his life.

"Oh, shit, you mean when you ignore people for four years, there are actual consequences?" Kensley asked, staring at him blankly before she scoffed and rolled her eyes, moving to sit down on her bed, not wanting to be close to him, not even really understanding why she was giving him this chance in the first place. A part of her, a very small part, wanted to believe him - the kid in her that he'd abandoned, she assumed, the one who'd held out hope for so long that he'd reach out to her in some way before eventually giving up. The other part, the larger part, was still so angry and bitter, finding it hard to forgive him. "You're full of shit, Luke. You always were. The difference is, now, I can see it. You apologizing doesn't fix anything, it doesn't fix the damage done, and, even if it did, you'd just do it all over again the first time some other whirlwind comes passing through and catches your eye." And, she tried to keep a brave face, tried to keep her tone even, but the reality was that she knew he'd drop her again if she opened back up to him and that hurt.

For a brief moment that she allowed herself to, Amy relaxed into Calum's embrace. Even after four years, his arms, even if the hug was completely innocent, still felt like home. Although after a longer moment than she had realised, she pulled away, sighing heavily. "Calum, you made that exact same promise before you ever made it big." She reminded him. "I can't trust you right now." She tucked a strand of hair behind her ear. "I don't want to let myself get comfortable again and then have you walk away with your next big adventure." She frowned with the thought. "If you want to fix things, you have to show me you're serious about our friendship." Although just being this close to him made Amelia feel invincible, almost, an unfamiliar jolt of energy rushing through her. She'd always crushed on Calum, but seeing him so much more... mature made her feel like an idiot to think she ever stood a chance with him.

Luke sighed softly with Kensley's anger, but he understood where she was coming from. "I'm here now, Kensley, and trust me when I say I have no intention of letting you slip through my fingers again. I'd do anything to prove that to you, anything." Luke told her honestly, trying to scope her out, what was she thinking? "If I could take away all that hurt, all that damage, I would Kensley, you have to believe me. You mean more to me than you think, and I was the one who lowered your confidence, and I'm so fucking sorry, I can't apologise enough." He told her, trying to hide his own emotion in his voice. "If you give me another chance, I'm never going to waste it, Kensley. I thought about you all the time, you have to understand, things just got..." He sighed. "Hectic. Crazy." He told her, staring at his hands. "But don't think you mean nothing to me, because you do."

Calum chewed on his lip when Amelia pulled free from his hold, swearing he'd never felt emptier than he did in that moment, and he tried to understand how the little girl he'd grown up with had been able to turn his world upside down so fast now that she'd become this incredible, beautiful young woman. Clearing his throat to rid himself of his thoughts and to try to focus on what she was saying, he nodded weakly, offering an apologetic smile. "I understand," he assured her quietly, "I'll do whatever it takes, Amelia, I swear. I just need this one chance. So just... Tell me what you want me to do. Tell me how to show that I'm serious about this."

Kensley found herself staring at the wall as she listened to him, finding it to be the only thing that could really stop her from crying in that moment, and she let her hands rest on her lap, her fingers curling against her knees. "You're a dick," she said eventually, quietly, a frown settling on her features. "Especially if you think I'll just take you at your word. Your actions speak louder, they always have, and your actions before were to just abandon me, so I'm not really expecting much of a change there. The one time you screw up, you better stay out of my life from then on. So either show me with your actions that you mean it or fuck off forever."

Luke ran a hand through his hair, his gaze fully on Kensley now, not even bothering to look away. She had been his best friend for so long, and just because she was a grown woman, who just so happened to be gorgeous, Luke didn't want to make that change anything, even if it did change a lot. This little girl he knew had suddenly became a gorgeous young lady, and Luke would be lying if he said he wasn't falling. "I know," he sighed when she called him a dick. "Tell me what you want me to do, and I'll do it, Kensley. I'd walk to the ends of the Earth for you, all you'd have to do is ask." He told her, meaning it from the bottom of his heart. "Because there is no way in Hell I'm letting you go again. Ever."

Amelia caught sight of Calum's apologetic smile and sighed to herself, frustrated at herself that even when Calum hurt her so deeply, she could never shut him out, just the thought of cutting him off for good hurting her more than she cared to admit. She knew Calum's intentions weren't cruel, there wasn't anything mean within him, he had a heart of gold and a soul to match, and even Amelia didn't understand the hurt she felt fully. She understood parts; like she wasn't good enough, she wasn't wanted, but seeing him now, she understood a lot of it had to do with her stupid, schoolgirl crush. "Why don't you show me?" She offered, not understanding quite what he wanted.
