Blaise rubbed his forehead as he thought over what was going to occur that day. He was going to meet Ester Pruitt. And even worse, he was going to talk about the lessons that HE was going to train her in. He swears, his parents must have lost their damn minds when they agreed to this with the Pruitt Family. What did they think was going to happen when their training was over? When the truce was over?! Did such a thing even crossed their minds when they basically ordered him to do this?

His hair started to grow as hard as stone at the thoughts running through his mind, and the man forced himself to calm down. He needed patience. He needed to show restraint. Most of all, he needed to calm down. It didn't matter what Blaise thought of the situation or of the Pruitt girl. This was his duty and he was under obligation to follow it through. The man took a few deep breaths, allowing his hair to turn back into its natural state.

Once he was calm, the man stood up and started to collect some of his books. Even if it was tempting, Blaise would need to teach this girl properly. And it seemed necessary to have her start at the beginning, simply learning what Earth Magic was because who knew if she even knew that with her family! As he was gathering his things, a knock on the door and a voice informed him that the Pruitt girl would be there any moment now. It would be best to meet her downstairs...

Esther was terribly nervous. Not only was it her eighteenth birthday, but it was also the day that she would be beginning her training with Blaise Reonas. Her parents had informed her of who she would be training with only that morning, and knowing a lot of the history between their families, she was quite nervous.

About twenty minutes before her lesson was supposed to begin, she slowly walked up the steps to Blaise's home, standing on the doorstep for a few moments, trying to find the courage to knock on the door. She finally did after a few minutes, lightly knocking her knuckles against the wood door, waiting patiently for someone to answer and let her inside, although her nerves only became worse the longer she waited.

As Blaise was relaxing in the parlor, he heard a knock at the front door. Ah, the girl must be here. She was a few minutes early but that was suitable. He was already ready for her and being early was certainly better than for the girl to be late. He poured himself a cup of tea and set the pot back down on the coffee table. It was certainly going to be interesting to see how this went...

A tall blonde haired woman opened up the front door. She smiled down at the woman warmly, though did not say anything for a moment or two as she looked her over. The lady's smile widen as she moved out of the entrance. "You must be Esther Pruitt." She said as took Esther's things to hand up in the closet. "Mr. Reonas is in the parlor, let me show you the way." After putting the clothes away nicely, she led Esther further into the house and took her to the right. After opening up a door, walked in and turned to Blaise. "Miss Pruitt is here to see you." With that, the woman then turned and walked out of the room.

Esther bit her lip nervously when the woman opened the door, smiling politely when she was invited inside. "Oh, thank you." She murmured as she followed the woman into the house, eyes widening a bit at the beautiful interior of the home. Her home was much humbler than his.

Her attention was drawn back away from looking around the house to look back at the woman, nodding a little. "Oh, yes, the parlor.." She murmured softly as she followed her into the room, watching as the woman left her alone with Mr. Reonas, biting her lip nervously. "Hello, Mr. Renoas.. It's a pleasure to meet you."

"Yes, I am sure that it is." Blaise said as he closed the book that he had been looking at before she came in. "As I am sure that you know, we are here to discuss your lessons and will not be starting today." He said before motioning to one of the chairs for Esther to take a seat in. Hopefully, this would not take long but it was difficult to tell how much talking the girl would do. Plus, Blaise wanted to ensure that he made things very clear for her.

Once she was seated, Blaise passed five books over to her. "These will be your reading materials, I have my own copies here so these will be yours. You are not to read ahead but you will keep up with the reading that I assign to you." The last thing he wanted was for this girl to think she knew what she was doing just because she read it. That was the fastest way for someone to get injured. "First thing is first, do you know what Earth Magic is at all? Or rather, what do you know about Earth Magic because we will start there."

Esther nodded a little and took her seat obediently, her father having warned her to be a good student. She carefully took the books from him with a small "Thank you," flipping through the first pages before setting them back in her lap and turning her attention back to hi. She shook her head when he asked what she knew of Earth Magic, frowning a little.

"I don't really know anything, sir.. My entire family have had either Fire or Water Magic going back hundreds of years, and so everyone assumed I would have that too, and they never taught me about other Magics.." she explained, fingers fidgeting nervously in her lap, afraid he wouldnt be willing to teach her because of how little she knew. "But I'm a fast learner, sir, and I'm confident I'll be a good student and learn everything I can from you."

Blaise gave the girl one short nod, though all he really wanted to do was shake his head and leave the room. Spending his valuable time to teach her everything about Earth Magic seemed like a waste. Especially, considering what would happen to her soon enough...

However, it was a responsibility he was given and he would do it to the best of his abilities. "Very well then," Blaise said as he stood up from his chair. "Then you will need to read chapters one and two in 'An Understanding of the Earth and It's Power' before we meet again in two days. For now, perhaps it will be best if I show you some examples of what Earth Magic can do. Leave your books here and follow me."

Once the girl had followed his request, Blaise walked out of the room and started to walk further into the house. As much as the house was very grand and modern, the importance of their abilities was shown through the house. Plants, veins, pots of soils and different rocks and crystals could be found throughout the area, artfully placed. Paintings of nature, forests, the sky, plants, mountains, fields ect., were their artwork, and positively had magic attached to them. They even passed a cat as they walked through. "What do you know about Earth Magic?"

Esther nodded a little as Blaise gave her her assignment, quickly writing it down in a notebook that she had brought with her before standing to follow him as she had been instructed. She looked around the house with wide eyes, admiring the various forms of Earth Magic that she saw, occasionally stopping to look closer, although when she noticed how far behind she was, she would hurry to catch up.

She swallowed a bit nervously when he asked what she did know about Earth Magic, worried that her lack of knowledge would upset him, and that he would simply kick her out and refuse to teach her. "Oh... Um.. Earth Magic is one of the oldest Magics, it's tied to everything and everyone, even if someone doesn't possess it." She explained quietly, hoping that her explanation would be correct and that he would be satisfied with her response.

"Earth Magic is the oldest magic, not one of. It is essentially the beginning of all magic as well as the beginning of Earth and all of us. There is no greater honor than to be chosen to hold the power that Earth Magic provides." Blaise looked back at Esther for a moment, some disdain in his eyes. It was a mystery to him why she was chosen. "It is not as dangerous as fire magic but you can seriously fuck things up if you're not careful. And it is not as forgiving as Water magic. Mastering spells require dedication, concentration, and control over your emotions. There is a very strict way to do everything and even doing the smallest thing incorrectly will be a cause for harsh punishment. This magic is unforgiving to those who do not take it seriously and you may find that you'll have to prove yourself to it over and over again. Though that is the price to pay for knowledge and power you'll receive."

Blaise finally turned down the last hallway, showing a large greenhouse that seemed to be in the heart of the house. The room was all windows, allowing those to see inside and for the natural light to come in. It was as tall as the house itself, allowing them to fit in massive plants and trees, as well as things that were much smaller and delicate. Blaise opened the door, allowing her in before closing the door behind them. He brought Esther to a table that held a tray with some dirt, three seeds and a small watering can. "Watch," Blaise said before he put one the seeds in the dirt and watered it. The man cleared his throat and started to move his hands over the soil methodically, muttering under his breath as he did so. His eyes lit up and pure magic started to flow from his hands and down onto the dirt. Soon enough, the plant started to grow into a sapling that stood 3 inches tall before Blaise stopped. He then took a small pot and with great care, put it in. "Do you garden or have houseplants?"

Esther noticed the disdain in his eyes and couldn't help but frown. He hated her, that was clear, and she was surprised that he hadn't cussed her out for being a fool and sent her away, although she knew she was walking on thin ice, and that that could still happen. She felt even worse as he talked about what an honor it was to possess Earth Magic and how tricky it was to master. He didn't believe in her, clearly, and her family was furious that she didn't possess Fire Magic and were all hoping she would fail, so how was she supposed to believe in herself when it seemed as if everyone was against her.

She was pulled out of her thoughts as they entered the greenhouse, her eyes lighting up at the sight of all the plants. She had always felt at home in gardens and greenhouses, although her mother had tried to keep her away from them. She watched attentively as Blaise used his magic to make the seed sprout, looking up at him when he asked yet another question of her, hesitating for a moment before she spoke, praying he would be content with her response. "My.. My father and mother tried to keep me out of the garden and away from places like this growing up.. They wanted me to spend my time around Fire Magic, not Earth... But I do have a greenhouse that I keep in the woods near the house, far enough away so Father wont burn it if he finds it. It's not nearly as impressive or as beautiful as here, but it's all I have.." she explained softly, keeping her eyes fixed on the little seedling between them.

"It is better to keep your plants close to you rather than far off in the woods," Blaise said with a sigh. Though it sounded like there wasn't anything to help the matter as it seemed her parents did not approve of the situation either. "You should be able to feel the magical energy that this greenhouse gives off to us and the house. It energizes us and our home. Your greenhouse should be able to do the same for you... the woods are a good place to be as well, so I suppose it will work. Though do spend time there daily and when you are practicing your magic do so there."

Setting the small sapling in front of Esther, Blaise continued. "This is yours to take care of. You will keep it in your greenhouse and bring it here for every lesson. If you forget it, I will send you home. If it dies, you will be punished for it. Best keep your books in the Greenhouse as well. I do not want your family's fire rage to take hold." Blaise hesitated for a moment before continuing. "Do you need protection for your Greenhouse?"

Esther nodded as she listened go his instructions, glad that she would have an excuse to be away from her family and in the greenhouse at least once a day, although she would have to come up with something else as an explanation.

Her eyes widened when he held the potted sapling out to her, looking up at him for a moment as she hesitated before carefully taking the plant from him. She could feel the remnants of his magic seeping through the terracotta pot and onto her hands, the feeling making butterflies fill her stomach in excitement. "I'll take good care of it, Sir. I promise. What kind of plant is it?" She asked curiously, looking up at him. She frowned a little, shaking her head when he asked about protecting her greenhouse. "It should be fine, Sir.. No one in my family ever goes into the woods, so I doubt they will ever know it's there." She reassured him, although she was mostly reassuring herself.

"Well, I am not surprised by that. Fire and Water users would have no benefits of going into the woods, to begin with. Though do note that if you lose your greenhouse, you will have a difficult time learning Earth Magic." Blaise said, looking at her seriously. As much as he did not want to go protect her greenhouse with his magic, he really didn't want to try and teach someone who did not have access to their own Earth Magic source. It would be a pain, to say the least. Though, it was up to Esther to take care of her area, not him. If she didn't want help, then that was all there was to it.

"As for your sapling, I will not tell you. That plant will be your first project with Earth Magic. You will learn how to listen, care for and work with nature. By the end of this, you will tell me what kind of plant it is. And we will both see what you are capable of." Blaise ran a hand through his hair before continuing. "That is all I had for today. I want you to read and tend for your sapling before our next lesson. Do you have any questions or something you would like to say?"

Esther nodded at his warning, knowing that she had to be careful going about her practicing. She didn't really know what her parents would do if they found out about her Earth Magic, but she knew it wouldnt be good. She looked a bit nervous as he asked if she had any questions or things to say, looking up at him after a moment as she held her sapling tight in her arms, afraid to let it go.

"My family... They dont know I'm here." She started slowly, biting her lip as she glanced up at him. "They think I'm going to one of those people who are supposed to be able to change what kind of magic you're gifted with, someone who can force me to have Fire Magic like everyone else in my immediate family... So, um, if you could not tell them about our lessons..?" She looked up at him nervously, eyes pleading with him to keep quiet about it. She knew the consequences would be terrible, and she didn't want him to get in trouble with them either.

A long silence overcame Blaise and a mix of emotions started to swell up in him. Though, the biggest one was confusion. His parents had told him that it was a request of the Priutt family specifcally and that they were doing this due to their alliance. Blaise did not really want to teach her, but he had an obligation to his family, to his craft and to the alliance (at least until it ended). Though did this break the alliance? But to turn her to trying to change her magic from Earth Magic to Fire did not sit well with him, and he was sure that the magic would turn on him if he did.

A long sigh finally left his lips as Blaise dropped his head into his hand. He didn't know what to do but was not going to make this decision immediately just for her benefit. "Go home, do your homework, come back for your lesson and I will tell you my decision then."

Esther frowned at his reaction, biting her lip nervously. She knew his family thought her family had asked for this training, but it had been her, having forged the letters from her father to his family requesting the lessons. She hadn't been able to stand the idea of trying to force her Earth Magic out of her in favor of a Magic that had always seemed at odds with her. She nodded a little as she listened to his reaction, letting out a little sigh as she hugged her potted sapling to her chest.

"Yes, Sir... Thank you for the lessons. I appreciate it. Should I come by tomorrow?" She asked, unsure of how often he wanted to teach her. She wanted to learn as much as she could, especially knowing that if her family ever found out, her lessons would immediately be stopped.

Blaise rubbed his eyes before dropping his hand and nodding. "Yes, tomorrow." He said before looking back at the girl. Once she left, Blaise would need to talk to his family, as well as do some magic to try to find out what the right thing to do was. Blaise knew what he wanted to do but unfortunately, this wasn't a situation where he could allow his emotions to take over. He needed to do his duty, but first he needed to figure out what that was.

Gently, he placed a hand on Esther's back and lead her out of the house, moving a bit quicker than he had before. Well, in the least, Blaise would not tell her family about this little attempt. He wasn't going to be responsible for the attach on earth magic that those hot headed fire users would probably do.

Esther frowned a little as he rather quickly ushered her out of the house, stopping briefly to pick up her books before leaving, thanking him again for today's lesson as he all but shoved her out the door. She didn't know why he seemed to hate her so much, but being mean to him wouldn't help her cause. She hurried home, making sure her family wasn't home before heading out into the woods to her small, rundown greenhouse, where she put set her new plant down on one of the tables before taking a seat to read the chapters and sections he had asked her to read, considering reading ahead once she had finished, although she remembered his instructions and didn't instead reluctantly heading back home to clean up before her family got home.

The next day she arrived early like she had the day before, waiting patiently outside after she had knocked on the door, holding her plant tightly in her arms, her books in tucked away in her bag.

The same blonde woman from yesterday opened the door. Once again, it took her a moment, staring at Esther before she welcomed her to the house and lead her into the house. Though this time, she brought her to the greenhouse. "Blaise will be down soon. He has requested that you wait outside of the greenhouse for him." With that, the woman gave her a nod before slowly turning and heading out down the hallway.

Down the hallway was a line of art pieces of different landscapes of nature. Each one seemed to have magic radiating off of it. If one moved close enough and stared, they would begin to feel the features of that location. For example, if staring at the snowy mountains, they would feel the cold, crisp air and the snow falling against their skin. It would feel as though the wind was blowing against them and that clouds were overhead. The painting would also look realistic, allowing the viewer to look around as if they were there.
