Miriam, like Blaise's parents, also wasn't buying his story, raising an eyebrow as she looked between the two. Reaching over she placed the back of her hand against her daughter's forehead, as if feeling for a fever. "You don't seem ill, Esther. Normally when you 'come down with something' you're in bed for a week with a fever." She pointed out as she sat back in her chair, looking at her daughter expectantly. She knew Esther was a bad liar, and that she'd cave and tell the truth given the amount of pressure she and his parents were putting on her.

Esther blushed as her mother felt her forehead for a fever, shaking her head a little when she talked about being sick before she looked over at Blaise nervously. She reached for his hand under the table again, squeezing it tightly as she gave him a little nod, letting him know she was ready to tell them and that it was ok for them to talk about it. Biting her lip nervously she turned back to look at her mother and Blaise's parents, clearing her throat a bit awkwardly when her words failed her at first.

"I... We're going to have a baby." She stated simply, squeezing Blaise's hand tightly as she watched for his parents reactions. Her mother's eyes had widened at the news, staring at her daughter with an unreadable expression as she sat back in her seat, remaining silent for the time being.

At the news, Blaise's parents immediately looked at each other in shock. It was clear that neither of them knew what to do or say and was looking at the other one for advice. But only found the same shock face on their partner. However, Juniper was more than pleased by the news. A large smile was over her face as she looked at her grandson and his girlfriend. "Congratulations you two!" She said as she got onto her feet. "How far along are you darling?"

The grandmother was quick to get over to them and wrap them both up into a large hug. It took a few moments but Blaise's parents snapped out of it and were slowly smiling over at the both of them. They still seemed a little unsure about it, especially since they didn't know how long the relationship would last. But it wasn't like this was a complete disaster by any means. A grandchild was always a good thing. "When did you find out?" Arielle asked them.

Blaise became very tense when Esther told them the truth. Though, at his grandmother's reaction, he started to relax once again. Even more so when Juniper pulled both of them in a hug.

Esther was nervous about everyone's lack of reaction, finding the silence deafening, so when Blaise's grandmother reacted so positivity she relaxed considerably, smiling at her as she came over and hugged them. "Thank you, Juniper.. I'm not very far along, only a month or so.. But we wanted to tell you instead of keeping it to ourselves.." She explained soflty, looking over at Blaise's mother when she spoke. "We found out a week or two ago? Shortly before we came back from vacation." She explained, squeezing Blaise's hand, hoping he'd say something so it wasn't her just talking.

"Esther..." Miriam began, glancing between Blaise and her daughter before she settled on looking at her. "Are.. Are you sure you want this?" She asked. Despite knowing that Esther did want children, and that she seemed very happy with this Reonas boy, she also knew Esther had always imagined herself married in a nice house somewhere before she had children, and so getting pregnant so young... She worried that she was just going along with it because she felt like she had to. After all, she'd married Marlon because she had felt like she had to, and that marriage had been a disaster. She didn't want her daughter going through the same thing.

Esther's smile disappeared when her mother asked if she wanted this, frowning a little as she looked at her. "Of course I want this... Sure, I would have liked to be married first but.. but I love Blaise, and I want to have this baby with him." She said defensively, hating that her mother was asking her this in front of everyone.

"I didn't mean to upset you, sweety, but... don't you worry you're rushing into things? I mean, you barely know this boy, and he seems nice enough, but he doesn't seem like the kind of boy who wants the same things as you.." Miriam frowned, reaching over to rest a hand on her daughter's comfortingly.

As Miriam spoke, frowns along faces occurred throughout the room. It had taken Arielle and Chris a few moments to adjust to the news, but they certainly weren't ready to question the decision that the two had made.... well, at least they weren't ready to question the decision right when it was announced in front of their guest. Though it seemed that Miriam did not share the same courtesy, they thought. At hearing Miriam's words, Juniper stood up a little straighter.

Blaise, on the other hand, was panicking on the inside as to what to do. He did not want to appear rude to Esther's mother. While things would probably always be a bit odd between them, Blaise did not want to have a bad relationship with her. Though, it seemed wrong not to defend Esther even when it was her family. What should he do or say?

After a moment, Blaise sat up a bit straighter, squeezing Esther's hand as he did so. "I assure you that Esther and I have discussed this and she is quite sure that she wants to have our child. And, no offense, but you don't know me and you certainly don't know what I want."

"My grandson helped and took in your daughter when you would not. What right do you have to judge on if they are good together?" Juniper snidely said back. Arielle was quick to sit up straighter. "Mother!" She gasped out before giving her a bit of a look, clearly wanting her to keep her mouth shut.

Miriam shot a glare at Juniper as she spoke, squeezing her daughter's hand. "I never mistreated my daughter. It was her father who was so adamant about punishing her for who she was, and there was nothing I could do to stop that didn't put my or her sister's life in danger. I worry that she's fallen for the first person to show her kindness, as I did when I was young and foolish, and is not properly thinking things through." She explained simply, before looking at Blaise.

"What do you want? My daughter makes it sound as if you've refused to marry her even though it's what she wants and she's carrying your child, which she clearly wants. Did you just agree to have the baby to appease her? What will happen after she has it, if you have no intention of marrying her?" Miriam wanted to see the good in Blaise, believe he was a kind person, but she'd failed to see the bad in her husband when she met him, and didn't want Esther making the same mistakes.

Esther jerked her hands away from both her mother and Blaise, standing abruptly as stated at her plate of barely eaten food., Miriam staring up at her with wide eyes. "Leave, mother. Clearly our families can't get along. I'm sorry to have ruined lunch, Mrs. Reonas." She apologized softly before she turned and hurried out of the room. She felt like she was going to throw up, her mother's questions for Blaise clouding her thoughts, even though she tried to brush her concerns off as nothing. Her mother didn't know him, she was wrong. She had to be.

The whole table was quiet for a long moment once Esther had rushed out of the room. Though, soon Blaise was moving onto his feet. He looked to his father and mother for a moment, the look on his face showing that he desperately wanted assistance with this situation. Then, Blaise looked to Miriam, knowing that he should say something before he went to tend to Esther. "I understand that you do not trust me but I promise I only have the best intentions."

With that, Blaise turned and made his way out of the dining room. This turned into a disaster like he had been worried about all along. Blaise had hoped that everyone could at least pretend they were happy about the news even if they weren't and it seemed that his grandmother and Esther's mother were not going to be able to get along. But all of that he would have to worry about at a different time.

Blaise made his way into their bedroom, looking around for Esther once he was in there. "Esther?" Blaise called out.

Esther had run back to their room as fast as she could, barely making it to the bathroom in time before she was retching into the toilet. Once she was done she rinsed out her mouth and washed her hands before simply taking a seat on the floor, pulling her knees to her chest as she wept. Everything had gone so wrong. She didn't understand, why had her mother thought it was right to interrogate her in front of Blaise and his family? She loved her mother, and wanted her to be proud of her, but it seemed like she'd only disappointed her by dating Blaise and deciding to have the baby.

Esther looked up when she heard the door to their room open, wiping her eyes and pushing herself to her feet when she heard Blaise's voice. She was just glad it was him and not either of their families, knowing she wouldn't be able to face anyone but him for a while. "I-I'm here, Blaise.." she called softly as she moved to stand in the doorway, leaning against the frame as she looked over at him sadly. "Should... Should I make a doctor's appointment to.. you know..." She murmured, glancing down at where her hand rested against her stomach. "I don't want to disappoint everyone.."

A deep frown moved over Blaise's face as he looked over Esther. She was obviously very upset like he had expected her to be after such a horrid meal. Though when she mentioned making a doctor's appointment, his heart broke a little. Blaise made his way over to Esther and wrapped his arms around her tightly, pulling Esther close to his chest. He wished he could protect her from everything but how could he possibly protect her from her own mother? Blaise didn't want to get in between them but he also didn't want her to get this upset every time they got together.

"I thought you wanted to have the baby," Blaise whispered to her. Even though this was also his child, he wanted Esther to make the decision on if they were going to have the baby. Of course, he wanted children with Esther but this wasn't necessarily a great time to have one. There was so much they both needed to do still before they became parents, like allowing themselves and their families to heal after the last how many years. But, at the same time, he could see this as a great thing. "You shouldn't do it if you're just trying to please your mother. What do you want to do?"

Esther gratefully leaned into Blaise's arms as he wrapped her up in a hug, tucking her face into his chest as he held her. "I do want this baby.. Of course I want it.." she murmured in response, reaching up to wipe at her eyes again as they spoke, fresh tears coming to her eyes. "But if I'm the only one who wants it.. It deserves to live a happy, love filled life, everything that I never got, but I can't give that to them by myself.." she wept softly, gripping his shirt tightly as she broke down into sobs.

When he asked what she wanted to do she struggled to calm down enough to speak, using the time to collect her thoughts. "I.. I want to have this baby.. But I want to marry you too, and give it the happy life it deserves.." she murmured, casting a nervous glance up at him. She knew he didn't want to marry her, and got upset and defensive whenever she brought it up, but he'd asked what she wanted to do, and figured she might as well be honest, even if she knew she'd give up that part of her dream in order to keep being with him.

Blaise looked down at Esther sadly when she mentioned getting married again. They have had this conversation more than Blaise wished. And he knew that his feelings about it were not coming across right. Blaise grew worried that Esther thought he didn't want to marry her at all, which was not the truth. He wanted to marry her, but he wanted to do it the right way. He never wanted Esther to doubt if they were just married because she was pregnant. "You know I want you to be the mother of my children, right?" Blaise whispered. "I love you and I know that we will be able to give our child a happy loved filled life."

His fingers slowly ran through her hair. "The child will have you, and me. My grandmother and my parents as well. And I know your mother is just worried but I am sure she will come around." A small sigh escaped from him. His hand slid away from her side and pressed against the side of her cheek. "We don't have to get married right now for our baby to have a happy life. And I don't want to get married because we got pregnant. I just don't want to get married like this. Is that so bad?"

Esther knew that she'd upset Blaise with bringing up marriage again, nodding a little as he spoke. She leaned her head into his hand as he listened to him talk about the happy life they could give their child, even if they weren't married. She understood that he didn't want to marry her just because she was pregnant, but that wasn't the reason she wanted to marry him either. She wanted to marry him because she wanted to marry him, but she could understand his reluctance to do it under these circumstances.

"I know.. I'll stop bringing it up, I promise. I didn't mean to upset you." She offered him a faint smile, turning her head to press a kiss to the inside of his palm where it rested against her cheek, smoothing out the wrinkles in his shirt. "We don't have to talk about it anymore.. I was just overreacting, it was probably the hormones." She tried to brush her worries off as nothing, even though she now worried that maybe he didn't want the baby, and that he was only agreeing to have it to make her happy. "I'm sorry I ruined lunch.. You can go back and finish if you want, I've lost my appetite."

As Esther pressed a kiss to the inside of his palm, Blaise started to relax and a warm smile came over his face. It seemed to him that the issue had been resolved. "You didn't upset me." Blaise assured her before wrapping his arms around her waist once again, pulling Esther in close. He pulled her in for a tight hug, his head laying on top of hers as he did so. "And you didn't ruin lunch. It is not your fault that things turned out like this. But I know that everyone will come around." Blaise whispered as he ran his fingers through her hair gently.

It seemed to Blaise that everything seemed to be settled then. Esther was assuring him that she was okay, and it seemed that she had calmed down as well. He didn't like that she was blaming herself even a little bit but, Blaise had to admit that was rather typical of her. But as long as Blaise assured Esther that it was not the case, things should be fine. Turning his head, Blaise pressed a kiss to the top of her head gently. "You should also eat. Should I bring something up for you?"

Esther kept her arms wrapped around Blaise as he pulled her close, nuzzling her face into the crook of his neck. She was glad that he wasn't upset with her, and she felt a little better hearing him say that lunch wasn't ruined because of her, letting out a little sigh as she snuggled further into his arms. "It was my idea to invite my mother.. It feels like it's my fault. I should have listened to you, when you said that you didn't think they'd get along.." she sighed, tracing little patterns over his heart.

She leaned further into his arms as he kissed the top of her head, humming a little in thought as he suggested that she eat. "I know I should.. I threw up my breakfast before you came in, and as hungry as I am I'm not sure I can keep it down." She sighed, rubbing at her eyes before she looked up at him. "I'm not sure what I would even eat if you brought anything."

"It is not your fault that your mother and my grandmother were picking on each other. We did what we could and I believe we are better off assuming the best of them instead of the worst. Even so, we will have to keep trying to see your mother even if my family doesn't get to see her as well," Blaise told her gently. "We just need her to like me, and our child." He pressed another kiss to her forehead.

"As for eating, you need to eat something. I'll try to find something in the kitchen that won't upset your stomach. Maybe crackers?" Blaise said softly. He ran a hand through her hair before slowly pulling away. "We will figure out something. I can't just let you starve because our child is upsetting your stomach." He offered Esther a gentle smile before completely pulling away from her. "Just relax, get changed and I will be back with some food."

Esther tilted her head up to look at him as he spoke, nodding a little as she leaned against him, pressing a gentle kiss to his chin as he spoke. "I know.. Maybe I should visit my mother alone sometime, try to talk to her.." she sighed, humming a little in thought before looking back up at him. "And maybe you could try talking to your grandmother?" She suggested, closing her eyes happily as he ran his fingers through her hair.

She sighed when he suggested she eat crackers for lunch, moving to lay down on the couch. "I ate crackers yesterday.. Maybe chicken? Or pasta? I want vegetables, or something fresh... I'm sorry if I'm being picky." She pouted as she tugged a blanket over he lap. "I hate being sick all the time.. "

"It is okay if you are being picky considering how often you have been getting sick lately," Blaise told her gently. He was doing his best to ensure that Esther didn't feel self-conscious about being picky or what was going on with her body or her emotions. This was going to be a hard enough time as it was and he thought it best that those factors didn't also come into play. "And I will find some time this week to talk to my grandmother about being kinder to your family. Though I am just thankful that she is excited about our child."

He offered her a gentle smile before heading out of the room and making his way downstairs. Once in the kitchen, Blaise started to work on making some pasta for the two of them, but only making buttered pasta and putting some sauce on the side if she felt up to it. At least the pasta would taste good without it. He then proceeded to make them a small salad before bringing both plates upstairs to their room.

Esther nodded a little as Blaise spoke, offering him a small smile. She appreciated that he understood and didn't mind that she was being picky or moody, and she was glad that he was willing to talk to his grandmother. "Thank you." She called as he turned to leave, settling into the couch as she turned on the TV to watch a movie. Soon enough she'd drifted off to sleep, having not been getting much given how often she had been sick in the night, so any chance she got to take a nap she took it.

When Blaise returned she was still napping, curled up comfortably with the blanket tugged around her, looking rather peaceful. When she heard him shut the door and set their food down at the table she stirred, blinking sleepily as she sat up slowly. "How long was I asleep..? I'm sorry if I kept you waiting.." she apologized as she yawned, stretching her arms up above her head.

"Not at all," Blaise assured Esther as he lightly lifted Esther up so he could sit down on the couch next to her. He laid her back down so her head was in his lap once he was situated and sitting comfortably. "I made us some pasta and a salad. I am hoping it won't upset your stomach at all," Blaise told her before he leaned down and pressed a gentle kiss to her forehead.

He then took his own plate of food and leaned back into the cushions, beginning to eat his own lunch. Though he did glance over at her curious now and then, hoping that Esther would actually be able to keep something down. "What would you like to do tomorrow, love?" Blaise asked her gently, thinking it was best to move forward and talk about more pleasant things.

Esther smiled a bit as he lifted her and then sat her back down with him, snuggling close as she settled back down under her blankets, thanking him as she took the plate of pasta and salad from him. "Thank you, this should be fine." She said as she started to eat, forcing herself to eat slowly so as to not upset her stomach any further.

She hummed a little in thought when. He asked what she wanted to do tomorrow, taking a break once she was half done with her meal, setting the plate in her lap as she laid back to look up at him. "Hm. I have a doctor's appointment in the morning, and I think the doctor said that she'd give me some medicine for my morning sickness the last time we talked, so hopefully that will help. I don't really know what we'd do after that, though." She murmured, reaching up to brush her fingers through his hair gently.

Blaise was quiet for a moment as he thought over what the two of them should do. It wasn't a good idea to do anything too crazy or exciting considering how Esther's morning sickness was going, but there was hope that it would get better with some of the medication that the doctor would hopefully get her. Blaise glanced down at Esther for a moment, thinking about her lessons... It also was not a good idea to have Esther strain herself magically when she was ill and pregnant.

"Well you will have to take it easy tomorrow and hopefully you'll start to feel better the day after. So, I am thinking we can relax at home and watch movies or something of that nature. And once you are feeling better, we can go back to doing some things as well as your lessons," Blaise ate the last of his food before setting down the empty plate on the table. "How does that sound?"
