    Am I moving real fast?
    Am I moving real slow?
    Gone through the lookin' glass
    I guess anything goes
    Know that treasure can't smile
And I wear it for days
I don't mean to sound rude
But I need a sweet taste

"I hate shopping," Luke grouched as he walked beside Michael in a comfortable, steady stride. And although the statement wasn't entirely true, he hated going around various stores just to look for one specific thing. Still, Luke kept his gaze ahead, studying the shops so he could determine which one would be the better option to go into. He only needed a few things, homeware, more than anything, but it was such a mundane task compared to the lifestyle the boys usually lived. "Here looks good." He nudged Michael, eager to get it done with and go back to the new home he'd just purchased.

Genevieve pulled the sleeves of her sweatshirt down, over her hands, trying to conserve as much heat as she could. Still, she watched passers by with a seemingly innocent curiosity, when the reality was, she was trying to deduct who looked like they wouldn't miss a few dollars. Genevieve knew that no one could survive on the streets without a little dishonesty, and she wasn't proud of it, but she was determined not to die in the winter months. Nudging Esme as she caught sight of two men, well dressed, obviously well off. Genevieve looked to her friend, raising her eyebrows in question.

Michael couldn’t help but to laugh with his friend’s words, shaking his head slightly. “You say that, but I’m half certain you’re lying a little there,” he teased lightly, nudging his friend teasingly as he peered around. Outside of helping Luke out a bit, he didn’t really have much of a reason to be here, but he didn’t have anything better to do, either, o when Luke had asked for the help, Michael hadn’t minded agreeing, because there wasn’t any real reason to not help, anyways. Looking to his friend when he heard him speak, he looked to the store they’d come to a stop in front of, and he nodded slightly in approval. “Alright, then let’s get this over with.” Shifting, he led the way inside, but motioned for Luke to lead the way from there, since they were shopping for Luke’s home.

Esme watched people quietly, taking in their clothes as casually as she could, looking for anything expensive in what they were wearing - clothes, jewelry, watches, shoes, briefcases, whatever they had on them. So many people took money for granted and she and Genevieve had learned over time that a few missing dollars wouldn’t really break their banks, whereas it would mean the world to her and Genevieve, provide them with a meal for the day at the very least. Blinking when she felt Genevieve nudge her, she followed her friend’s gaze, watching the pair of men as they’d walked, the brands they were wearing well-known and pricey. Looking to Genevieve, she nodded her approval, deciding they were worthy targets.

"I don't know what I'm looking for," Luke admitted, rubbing the back of his neck. He'd never done this task as a single man, but here he was now, doing it. "Man, my house is gonna look dumb." He complained to Michael, following the older boy into the store, but taking the lead like Michael motioned for him too, seeing a cute little dog bed and grinning. "Mikey," he called with a laugh. "For Petunia?" He motioned to it with a grin, unable to help himself.

Genevieve waited for a second before standing to her feet to avoid looking suspicious, helping Esme up too. "Come on," she murmured, having watched the pair closely. Looking as casual as she could, Genevieve led Esme to the store the boys had gone into - and she worried, for a moment, that the girls stepping into a store well out of their price range would draw attention. Pushing her thoughts to the side, she opened the door, stepping over the threshold and holding the door for Esme.

Michael couldn’t help but laugh at the sight of the dog bed, though he grinned. “I say go for it,” he told him with a shrug before making his way over, “Maybe you can base your whole color scheme around it.” He smirked teasingly to his friend, though it honestly wouldn’t surprise him if it ended up being the case, considering it was Luke.

Esme nodded slightly and she breathed out her nerves, reminding herself to focus on the task at hand. Following Genevieve inside, she peered around, her gaze searching for the two men who had walked in, aware they needed to know where the men were at all times. When she spotted them, she murmured “Let’s do this” to Genevieve.”

Luke rolled his eyes jokingly at Michael's words. "Colour schemes." He snorted with a laugh. "I don't know how people find interior decorating so exciting." But the fact was: Arzaylea found it exciting, and now that Luke didn't have her to help, he found himself quite useless. Shaking his head to rid himself of the thoughts of sadness, Luke exhaled heavily. "Man, as long as Petunia's comfortable, I don't care about anything else." Luke admitted, because that meant himself, too. Feeling a presence behind him, Luke looked over his shoulder quickly, pausing at the sight of a girl outreaching her arm. "You good there?"

Genevieve nodded with Esme's words, and she reminded herself that these two schmucks were clearly better off than most, and surely they wouldn't miss a few dollars - if they even noticed. Approaching the section the men were at, Genevieve began to look at different items, pretending as though she was interested, and as the two men laughed among themselves, Genevieve got closer to the shorter of the two, being careful to ensure they remained distracted. Reaching her hand out, Genevieve prayed quickly for a quick getaway.

Michael couldn’t help but laugh with the mention of it. “I don’t know, maybe it’s therapeutic or something,” he said with a shrug, “Plus it lets you express yourself and be comfortable in your own home. That’s gotta be good for something, right?” He arched a brow but looked down in time to see a girl reaching out towards him. “Uh, what are you doing?”

Esme paused when she realized Luke’s attention had fallen on her and her outstretched hand, and she quickly motioned. “I was trying to get to that dog bowl that you’re blocking,” she covered quickly, hopeful that he believed it, though she definitely didn’t have a dog - she wouldn’t be able to take care of one even if she did.
