Veronica sighed gently as she followed her 'friends' around the cafeteria as they conducted their silly lunch time poll. It was just another boring day in westerburg high, although on a scale of things, this one made her want to slit her wrists less than others.

She glanced around the room boredely when she spotted a face she hadn't seen before, sitting by himself in the corner. "Who's the new guy?" She asked the girls, gesturing in his direction. "Who trench coat?" One of her friends questioned with a snicker. "Heard he just moved to town, caused quite the stir in homeroom this morning" she continued. Vernica nodded softly continuing to look in his direction, offering him a small smile when he caught her. She looked away, sighing softly. A art of her hated being seen as one of the popular crew, but it was the easiest way to get through high school without getting too much shit.

"Why don't we poll him?" She suggested, raising an eyebrow to her friends who simply shoved the pad at her. "sure go ahead, see where he hides his victims" Her friend said loudly, looking straight in his direction so he knew it was about him. Veronica sighed loudly and made her way over to the lunch table. "Hey, wanna do our poll?" She asked him, standing hand on her hip at the table.

Alexander had just moved into a new town, after his mother had died. He was seriously struggling to fit in, and adjust to all the changes in his life. He was still finding a footing here at Westerburg High, even arriving late to homeroom, with a disdain and annoyance plastered on his face, as he was told off by the teacher. He still had barely said a word all day in his classes.

Alexander was sat in one of the corners of the cafeteria, sitting alone. He didn't have a school bag, or any lunch, he just sat staring out at the other students. Draped over his shoulders, pretty much cover all of his other clothes, was a dark leatherish duster jacket, or as some of the students had mentioned behind his back, a 'trench coat'.

He looked up slightly as Veronica approached, "Let me guess, question one where are all the bodies?" he commented snidely. His eyes shotting daggers towards her friends, "one's buried back east," he snapped.

Veronica shifted her weight from one foot to the other, feeling her friends eyes bating in to the back of her head. She knew she needed to watch her words carefully. She didn't want to piss him off, but she also didn't want to give the girls a reason to crucify her.

"Funny. I'll keep it in mind" she commented dryly, glancing down at the sheet. "If you inherit five million dollars the same day aliens tell the earth they're blowing us up in two days,what would you do?" She asked, glancing down at the sheet again, her eyes wide. Had this seriously been what they were asking people all day? Good she needed to pay more attention, that was a stupid question. She listened to his answer, smirking softly. "The name's Veronica by the way, Veronica Sawyer" she told him quietly, glancing over her shoulder at her friends.

Alexander kept a disinterest look across his face. To be honest he would much rather have been left alone. He looked at her listening to the question, "I guess I'd buy a ticket on the nearest space shuttle, or if that's not an option buy something to put me out of my misery painlessly," he said nonchalantly.

He looked up at the other girls, "you really spend your days asking such stupid questions Veronica?" he asked. He shifted in his seat, "Alex, by the way," he said turning on the chair standing up. He would just have to find another quiet place.

She watched him as he asked her about what she spent her days, keeping her face placid as she pretended not to notice the condescending tone in his voice. "Anything to escape the want of death in this jungle" she commented, rolling her eyes at him. She watched as he shifted in his seat standing up, he wanted her to leave. "We'll see you around I guess" she siad turning on her heels and heading back to her table with the other girls.

"Don't make such a big deal, it's just a jacket" she told them, retreating back into herself a little when they all shot her a dirty look. She sighed when she saw Kurt Kelly approaching him as he left the lunch room. He was the smartest guy on the football team.. which was kind of like being the tallest dwarf. She ran a hand in to her hair as she waited for the Carnage to unfold, the cafeteria falling quiet.

"Leaving so soon?" Kurt asked, standing stoicly in front of Alex so he couldn't move past him.

Alexander paused and took a small step back. "Yeah I was considering it, until an ape appeared in front of the exit," he said calmly. He heard the chatter die down, and had already figured this was the whole, chastise the new guy thing. He looked up, "so is this where you beat the crap out of me, pretending I'm your idiot father who doesn't love you? or are you just gonna stand there?" he taunted quietly.

Alex didn't really give two shits, if he got beaten up, he had pretty much felt dead inside since his mom passed. Besides, he had been beaten up enough, he was a decent fighter.

Veronica let out a small laugh as she heard what Alex had said, sitting up a little straighter on her chair to watch what was going on. Nobody had ever dared to put Kurt in his place before. You oculd hear a pin drop in the cafeteria. "Holy shit" she whispered to her friends who simply shook their heads. "He's about to get a fist up his ass" one of them commented quietly with a laugh "I bet he'd love that" another teased.

" Sure Kurt would get just as much enjoyment" Veronica chimed in, tolling her eyes as they all shot her another dirty look. She fell silent as she saw Kurt swing for the new guy, who dodged it perfectly.

Alexander saw the wild hook coming from a mile away, he ducked out of the way, and kicked out towards the jocks knee. His expression as blank as before. As the fight continued on, the pair of males, each got some hits in. However it seemed each hit Kurt landed only made Alex laugh, or smile, like he was enjoying the blows.

The fight was broken up fairly quickly by a teacher who began chastising Alex for starting a fight on his first day. Alex stared directly at Kurt, "well I suppose you should expel me then, if proving your star jock is a pussy is against the school rules," he stated. He moved towards the door, moving to leave the cafeteria, "I'm out of here, have Ms whatever tell me if its detention or expelled in the morning," he said as he darted out the door.

Veronica had watched the fight in bemusement. This new kid wasn't like anything westerburg had seen before. All day she couldn't get what had happened in the cafeteria out of her head. She sighed as her friend reminded her about the college party she had promised to go to that night.

At the party, Veronica had got absolutely wasted, punched some guy in the face when he tried to make out with her, and after all of that threw up on the queen bee, getting them thrown out. She merely rolled her eyes as hetaher told her how she was going to ruin her life, but as soon as she drove off that pit of worry began forming in her stomach. She ran a hand through her short hair, looking at the houses as she drunkenly staggered past. She stopped for a minute, seeing a familiar figure moving around in an upstairs window of one of the houses. Drunkenly she chuckled, beginning to pick u some people's from the sidewalk pelting the window. Before she could be seen, she moved towards the trelace that covered the front part of the house, slowly shimmying her way up until she managed to reach the small piece of roof leading to Alex's bedroom window.

Alexander left the enraged teacher behind, ignoring him as he kept walking. He headed off of school grounds and out of sight. He hadn't really thought about where he was going, yet. Eventually he made his way to a liquor store, and managed to sneak a bottle out in his coat, before heading home.

By early evening, his father was passed out downstairs, and Alex was once again left to fend for himself. He started drinking his stolen booze, and absently looking through the few pictures he had of his mother, before he migrated to his computer to watch videos. Eventually he ended up stripped down to a singlet along with his patchwork jeans, his myriad of scars on his arm exposed to the world. He heard pebbles pelting his window and moved to check the source, getting frustrated when he didn't see anyone. He sat down on his bed, and lay back

Veronica reached up trying to prize the window open, moving as slowly as possible to try and keep her balance. After a couple of minutes of drunkenly poking at the lock with a hair pin she managed to side the window up, pulling herself on to the window sill. "Hey new kid" she said with a laugh, watching him as he lay on his bed, turning gso that her legs now hung in his room as she sat on his window sill. "4 years of Girl scouts came in handy" she joked, sliding g her hair pin back in to her hair, laughing as he looked so surprised.

Alexander barely noticed his window slide open, he sat up and looked towards her. "Oh Veronica, how nice," he said with an obvious twinge of sarcasm. "So having the jock get me in trouble today wasn't enough, now you have to break into my room?" he mentioned, as he reached for his long sleeved shirt.

He eyed her suspiciously, taking note of her drunkenness.

Veronica rolled her eyes at him hopping down of the window, closing it again. "Oh shut up, you love it" she chided, stepping closer to him and pulling him in to a kiss, laughing as he pulled away. "Not in to that?" She asked with a laugh, sitting down on his bed letting out a small sigh. She watched as he pulled on more clothes while she undipped her jacket tossing it across his room. "I'm pissed" she announced.

Alexander looked at her, and sat back down. As she moved to kiss him he pulled away. "Seriously is this some kind of sick, hazing thing?" he said. He moved off his bed as she sat down, watching her unzip her jacket exposing her quite revealing dress.

"Yeah I noticed you were drunk, where have you been?" he asked. He moved to his desk, slipping his own alcohol into a drawer hoping she wouldn't notice. He was still convinced the popular girls were messing with him still

Veronica threw her head back laughing. "No I'm not hazing you" she said through the chuckles. She watched he'd him move across the room, pouting. "College party, it sucked they we're assholes." She said shaking her head gently. So I was on my way home, when I saw you looking pretty up here so, here I am" she said, with another laugh. Slowly she stood up off the bed, moving toward him, trying to kiss him again.

"You don't need to hide your drink from me, I'm drunk enough" she told him, rolling her eyes, running her hands down his arms. "It was pretty cool when you stood up to Kurt" she told him softly.

Alexander watched her, his eyes looking over her figure. "So college assholes, what's new," he said. He stood his ground as she tried to kiss him again, "so what you thought you'd come up here and see if I was interested?" he asked.

He paused for a moment, feeling her hands run along his arms, he pulled his drink out and took another swig. "Well, I'm not yet," he said. He pulled her closer, "what has no-one stood up to him before?" he asked

Veronica smirked gently as she felt him pull her closer. "I mean my life is over anyway, so I figured I may as well make the most of what I have left" she said with a sarcastic laugh, staring straight at him. "Nobody stands up to anyone in this school, it was pretty cool" she said with a hiccup.

Alexander frowned slightly hearing her comment, "what do you mean by your life is over?" he asked. He chuckled, "no wonder he was such a push-over, thinks he's tough but never has to prove it," he said. He reached behind her, the alcohol dull his judgement slightly, he reached for the zip of her dress, pulling it down slightly.

Veronica shook her head "I refused to sleep with Heather's loser college friend and then I threw up on her, so she's going to make my life a living hell. God she's awful, sometime I wish she would just die" she said with a laugh, stumbling forward and wrapping herself around him, smiling coyly as she felt his hand begin to open her dress.

"So basically I'm a dead girl walking, I might as well get some while I can" she teased, beginning to open the buttons on his shirt.
