bringing in the light

Calum had come to this place to relax for the week he got to enjoy the winter before things got hectic again with writing and everything related to their band. He’d been looking forward to the chance to really relax, maybe enjoy a few winter-related sports, a snowball fight or two against the guys, but, as he came out of the bathroom after a shower, having gotten dressed already, he paused when he saw a headline on the news, having left the television on. His brows furrowed slightly as he saw Blizzard warning flashing across the screen, specifically in the area he was in. “Shit,” he muttered quietly; there went any plans to enjoy the snow.

Gemma went down to the building’s cafeteria to grab a hot chocolate for herself and her friend, Lennon, before heading back up, tapping lightly on her friend’s door - her own room just next door, anyways. Earbuds in her ear, she listened to the radio for the area but frowned as an announcement was made about a blizzard coming their way. “Lennon, turn on the news,” she called through the door, pouting, “And then, you know, open the door for me, my hands are kind of full.”

Luke ran a hand through his hair as he dug through his bag for a sweatshirt, listening to the news as background noise. He promised the boys he'd meet them in the cafeteria in the next half an hour for some food, because when they'd all retreated from the cold that afternoon after a snowball fight (resulting in three points for Ashton, zero points for himself, Calum and Michael), they all decided a relaxing evening watching crappy TV and eating as much as they could was well deserved. Frowning as he heard the blizzard warning, Luke grabbed his phone and texted the others. Anyone else watching the news?

Hearing Gemma tap lightly at her door, Lennon stood from her bed, opening the door. "Hey," she smiled, accepting her hot chocolate with a quick thank you, but frowned as she heard Gemma's request to turn on the news. "What for?" She asked, raising a quizzical eyebrow. "Was there a murder?" She turned and headed further into the warmth of her bedroom, grabbing the TV remote from her bed, instantly flicking on the news, seeing BLIZZARD WARNING across the screen and groaning, sitting on the edge of the bed. "Dammit, really?" She frowned, running her free hand through her hair.

Calum looked at his phone when he got the text, but he’d been watching the news already, and he frowned slightly. Just our luck, mate. He was bummed about the news, because it meant they’d be stuck inside for the most part, and he was sure they’d all end up with cabin fever. Sighing quietly with the thought, he shook his head. Meet up in one of the rooms? He was already bored, so hanging out with his friends seemed like the best bet.

Gemma shook her head slightly as she moved to sit down, watching the screen. “Can you believe it?” she asked with a sigh, “All the fuss we made about coming up here, and our entire vacation gets ruined by a blizzard.” She pouted slightly, disliking the realization, because she knew she and Lennon just wanted to have some fun and enjoy themselves, and that seemed unlikely now.

Luke read over Calum's text, quickly typing out a reply as he went over to the cupboard of DVDs that the lodge had to offer - at least inside was warm, cosy, a place that Luke was grateful to be stuck inside. Get to mine, mate, good selection of films up here. And sitting in the center of his bed, cross legged and wishing he was in the Bahamas instead, Luke pressed play on Jumanji, glancing outside of the window to the snowfall that was already beginning to build up. It really was just their luck.

Lennon offered a sweet smile to Gemma, listening to the forecast carefully and understanding her best friend's annoyance. "It sucks, but hey, we could have some fun inside?" Lennon offered, although she and Gemma had been looking forward to a time of snowboarding and snowman building. Sipping at her hot chocolate, Lennon frowned as she continued to watch the television. "Okay, enough of that, that's depressing!" Lennon clicked off the TV. "Let's go explore the lodge."

Calum looked to the text but he quickly made his way to Luke’s room to knock on the door - mostly because he was bored but also because he had nothing better to do. He could admit, though, he was curious to what the rest of the people here at the resort would do.

Gemma offered an amused look and lifted her shoulders in a shrug. “We can try,” she said, “Not sure there’s much fun to be had, though.” Still, when Lennox suggested exploring, she nodded slightly. “Sure, let’s do that. It’s better than nothing at this point.”
