let our hearts collide

Luke tried to conceal the face of disgust that so desperately wanted to break through as he studied the girl, before glancing back down at her photography portfolio - which, Luke could confess without a single regret, wasn't even that good.

Looking to Calum, Ashton, and Michael, all sat to his right, Luke looked back to the girl. He couldn't even remember her name, which just proved to Luke that she hadn't left that much of a lasting impression. "Uh," he cleared his throat awkwardly, rubbing the back of his neck, knowing the others felt the same just by their body language. "I'm sorry, we don't think you're right for this job." And Luke cringed slightly - they'd already made two people cry today, he didn't want another case of tears.

As the girl merely grabbed her portfolio and stormed out, slamming the door behind her, Luke put his head in his hands, half amused and half fed up. "God, that was torture." He commented quietly. "Alright, up next is Silvia Clark." He told his band mates, hoping that this girl wasn't going to be another one just looking to sleep with one of them.

Standing to his feet, Luke went to the reception of the building they'd set the interviews in, and he almost exhaled in relief when he saw there was very few participants left, maybe five or six at the most. "Uh, Silvia Clark, please?"

Calum sighed out, rubbing his hand over his face with a small frown. “Maybe we should have used aliases for the posting,” he mentioned as he pushed away the pile that he had personally dubbed as ‘Fuck No’ and leaned back in his seat. “What are the chances that we’ll actually find a few people here who aren’t here because they’re hoping to hook up with us?” It wasn’t even really anything new - but, really, how hard was it to ask for something as simple as somebody who wanted to actually work? He chewed on his lip with the thought and sighed.

“Probably very slim,” Michael mentioned, making a slight face as he folded his arms over his chest, peering over, though he shrugged. “Might as well hold onto that very slim amount of hope, though.”

Silvia looked up when she heard her name called, her fingers curled around her portfolio anxiously. She was only here because she desperately needed a job; she didn’t really have much experience with taking photographs outside of the Photography club in her high school, but that was a few years ago, and the occasional photographs she took for fun, but she had to try every job opportunity that she could. “Um, that’s me,” she said eventually, shifting to stand as she straightened her clothes and made her way over, offering a weak smile.

Ashton looked over at Calum and Michael with amusement. "What's offensive is that they think we're that easy." He commented, taking a sip from his bottled water with an amused grin. "I mean, it's not like Michael's in a committed relationship or anything." Ashton rolled his eyes, shaking his head. "I agree with Cal, we should of used aliases." He groaned, watching as Luke disappeared to get the next applicant - Silvia Clark.

Luke studied the beautiful blonde for a long moment, offering her a genuine smile, hoping she could be the one. She seemed different - how she carried herself, how she dressed, her mannerisms. "I'm Luke Hemmings, please, come in." He led the way to the others. "If you wanna set your portfolio down on the table, that'd be great." Luke smiled. "So, Silvia, what's got you interested in this job?" Luke asked as he sat back down, looking to his bandmates.

Silvia watched the man for a long moment before nodding slightly. “It’s good to meet you,” she said eventually, though she was quick to focus on the task at hand, determined to do well with this interview. Following him inside, she nodded, placing the portfolio down for them, though she straightened with Luke’s question. “Honestly, I’m just in desperate need of a job,” she admitted, frowning slightly - she didn’t want to admit it, but she didn’t want to go into this whole thing lying right off the bat, either. “But the job lies in photography, and that’s something I love, so it just…. Felt like a good idea.”

Calum reached over, taking the photos out of the portfolio to pass around to the others, though he left the interview part for Luke for now, since he’d already started the interview anyway.

Luke nodded with Silvia's words, looking to his band-mates to see how they reacted to Silvia's portfolio. "Well, that's something. You'd be surprised at how many people we've had in here who didn't even know how to work a camera properly." Luke sighed. "It's been a really long day, so seeing someone who has a genuine passion for photography is really refreshing." Luke offered the beauty a reassuring smile. "So, would you be okay with touring around? Do you have a valid passport?"

Ashton nodded, impressed by Silvia's words. "Your photos are great."

Silvia watched, surprised to hear everything that was being said. She hadn’t expected things to go well at all, but with the questions and the praise, she couldn’t help but feel hopeful. “Thank you,” she said quietly, offering a small nod, “Yes, I’d be okay with that, and yes, I have a valid passport.” She didn’t want to stray from the topic, from the answers, too worried about oversharing or talking too much, ranting about things nobody wanted to hear.
