Shiloh chewed on her lip nervously when Luke made his way over and she dropped her gaze to their hands when he took hers and she tried to ground herself using that contact, because Luke was always her saving grace, even in the worst of times, even when she felt like her world was crashing around her. When she heard him speak again, she could feel her tears breaking free, despite how much she tried to force them away, and she leaned into his touch when she registered the feeling of his hand against her cheek. “I, um,” she murmured quietly, clearing her throat to try to force away the crack in her voice, “I just, um… I was feeling nauseous and - and it made me worry, so I tried to remember when my period was supposed to happen, and I missed it and…” She chewed on her lip again, lifting her gaze to his for just a moment before she quickly lifted her hand to swipe at her tears. “And one plus one equals two... And I’m worried that the two in the equation is that I’m pregnant again.” And she hated that she felt like she was rambling, but she hated even more that she had to drop this concern on Luke’s shoulders in the first place, because she was worried about how he would react - the last thing she wanted was for him to worry or stress about her, he’d done enough of that the previous year and she never wanted to put him through that again. But she knew he at least deserved to know and she didn’t want to lie to him or hide anything from him, ever, because he was the one person she loved with all of her heart, and the thought of making things hard for him hurt.
Calum’s gaze ran over Khloe’s features, his expression softening when he noticed that, for a bit, she seemed to be lost in her own thought, and he wondered what he could do to help her, to chase away whatever anxieties were plaguing her mind. When he felt her kiss his temple, he held her closer to himself, rubbing her back gently as he waited patiently, never wanting to rush her to do anything, never wanting her to feel like she had to do anything. She meant the world to him - more than that, even, - and he only wanted her happiness. After everything they’d gone through the previous year, nobody in the world deserved that happiness more than Khloe did. When she began to speak, his heart clenched tightly when he heard the pain in her voice, and he held her closer while he waited. After she managed to get the words out, he felt his heart slow to a near stop, and he stared with surprise. A huge part of him wanted to be happy, recalling how happy he’d been the last time she’d brought this news to him, how happy they had both been. But that happiness was so quickly overshadowed by the pain of the loss they’d faced and his worry for her, because she’d almost died the last time and he was terrified of losing her. “Hey, hey,” he murmured quietly, breaking his silence, his heart breaking when he saw the tears, and he reached his hand up to cup her face, brushing the tears away gently, though he could feel tears burning his own eyes. “How about I go get a pregnancy test, yeah? And, if… If it turns up positive, then we’ll get straight to setting up a doctor’s appointment, we’ll figure it out - and, if everything’s going well so far, then we’ll just… We’ll have you rest and relax, no stressing out, okay?” He offered a weak smile, hoping to encourage her, and he leaned to press a kiss to her forehead gently. “Maybe everything will be alright this time.”
