A light mist hung in the air, as the birds chirped their first song of a brand new day. The sun was barely breaking over the horizon, giving a small orange glow across the city. Traffic was minimal, and the sidewalks bare, save for a man jogging along slowly. Earbuds in his ears, as he flanked the river slowly.

Charlie was out for his morning jog. He knew today would be a busy day, the first day of a new semester, excited and energetic new students. He was both excited and terrified himself. He straightened his coat, as he finished up his last mile, heading back to his apartment for a shower and to finish packing his suitcase for work.

Thirty minutes later, Charlie made his way to the bus stop, figuring it would be easier than trying to find a park on the first day. Once the bus arrived, he climbed on board and found a seat near the back where he sat quietly, pulling out a novel to read while he waited.

When morning about, the sound of an alarm clock rang through the young girl's room. She turned off the alarm sound on her iPhone as she stretched, letting herself wake up before she sat up in her bed. It was the first day of the new semester, but this was nothing new for her. This was her last year in college, however, she still got the first day jitters. Mentally reminding herself that it was okay, the young woman rolled out of bed.

Getting herself ready for the day, Natasha settled on wearing a black oversized sweater dress, black leggings, and black flats. Her long ombre colored hair was done, but she quickly brushed it before placing it up in a rather high ponytail. Once she made sure her hair and clothes were perfect, Natasha applied her make up.

Thirty Minutes later, the young woman was making her way to the college, driving her white jeep to the college's parking lot. Once she was all set, bag in hand with her belongings, she quickly made her way onto the college campus. Saying small hellos to some people as she passed by them, she looked at the schedule she had written down, quickly reminding herself what classes she had today and where.

The campus was abuzz with students, of all years. The freshman looking excited and in awe, messing around meeting each other, and searching for their classmates. The second years catching each other up on their shenanigans from the break, while congregating on one of the many lawns. The seniors quickly making their way to their various classes.

As the bus pulled to a halt, Charlie closed his book and slipped it into his briefcase. He made his way off the bus, separating himself from the students as he made his way towards the history department. He was wide awake, and ready to get straight into things, but he decided being the first day back, his class might appreciate an extra five minutes to get organised.

Charlie made his way to the teacher's lounge. It was a small space reserved for teachers, and occasionally when empty, the senior students were allowed to use it to study. He found his way to the small kitchenette in their and began making himself a coffee. He was glad that today he only had two lectures, History 401, and Historical literature 454.

Shaking the First Day Jitters away, Natasha closed her eyes for a brief second. Relaxation started to overcome her as she felt the jitters finally go away. Seeing a few more familiar faces as she reopened her eyes, Natasha smiled.

Looking down at her schedule one again, she noticed that her first class for the day was History 401. It was her earliest class of the semester. Making her way to the History Building, Natasha knew that she was a little early, but she didn't care.

As she made her way to the classroom, Natasha stared at the door and smiled before walking in. When she saw that she was the only one in the classroom, she rolled her eyes. "Why did you have to be the first one in the classroom? The professor isn't even in yet..." She mumbled, making her way to a desk towards the front.

Charlie finished making his coffee, not being disturbed by anyone. He sipped it lightly, before making his way towards the lecture hall. At this stage his lecture was just due to start, but he figured he'd hold off for five minutes.

He made his way into the lecture hall, looking around, surprised to see a student already in there. He put his coffee down of the table, and looked at the young lady, with a high pony tail. "Morning Miss," he greeted casually.

He clicked open his briefcase, and sat down on the chair provided. He was a pretty relaxed teacher, but he was a really harsh marker.

Natasha jumped a little when she heard the voice of something else in the room. She had been lost in her thoughts, she didn't even notice that the professor had walked in.

Blushing a little when she looked up, seeing that it the professor coming in. "Good Morning Sir." She said with a sweet smile. Watching the professor as he pulled out his belongings for today's lecture.

Finally deciding to take her MacBook out, Natasha got herself ready for the class that was coming soon.

Charlie smiled softly to her, leaving her to do her own thing for awhile. Once she'd pulled out her things he looked up again, "So how was your break Miss...?" he asked. He was still not the best with names, and he couldn't remember teaching this lady before.

He pulled out some papers, and set them one of the desks at the front of the class. It contained a run down of the various assessments for this paper. He picked one up, carrying it up towards her.

Natasha looked to him when he looked up again, their eyes meeting for a quick second. “Natasha Anders.” She said with a sweet smile. “My break was alright. There was some things I wish didn’t happen, but it’s okay...things happen for a reason sometimes.”

As he walked closer to her, Natasha could feel her heart slightly pounding. When he handed her the paper, she smiled. “Thank you, Sir.” She said as a small blush appeared on her face.

Charlie smiled back at her, she was very cute. "Nice to meet you Miss Anders," he said. He stepped back from her, "well as long as everything is okay, and you learnt something," he said.

He made his way back to his desk, "Sorry, I forgot to introduce myself, I'm your Professor for this class, Professor Martin," he said softly.

Natasha could feel her cheeks turning warm again as they continued their small talk conversation. "Everything is better." She reassured her.

Her eyes glanced over him from behind as he made his way back towards his desk. When he apologized for not introducing himself, Natasha gently shook her head. She had a feeling on who he was and had it figured out. However, she still found it sweet that he took the time to apologize as well as made sure to introduce himself.

Charlie nodded lightly, "well that is good to hear," he said. He noticed her blush but left it unmentioned. He was always worried that some of these students got up to really dumb things during break.

He sat back down sipping his coffee, "I hope you don't mind, if I give your classmates a few more minutes to actually show up," he said lightly. He waited patiently, noticing the clock click over to 9:00am, the usual starting time of this lecture.

Refraining herself from blushing anymore than she already was, Natasha looked back at her laptop, reading over some unread emails. There was silence in the lecture room between the two of them, however, it wasn't awkward. Looking down at her Apple Watch, she made a quick mental note of what time it was, knowing other classmates would be coming in soon...at least they were supposed to be.

Hearing movement being made in the room again, Natasha looked up seeing it was only her professor sitting back in his chair. She nodded and gave him a sincere smile. "That's perfectly fine. I really don't have anything going on, considering I'm in class." She laughed lightly.

Charlie smiled, he'd pulled out his novel and was reading it quietly. He was happy to leave her to do her own thing while he waited for the class. He continued sipping his coffee every now and then.

He looked up hearing her, "Well, if no one else shows up in the next ten minutes you can decide if you want me to cover the stuff for you today, or leave it until next class," he said calmly. He figured he'd have to cover it for the whole class next time anyway.

"Oh, well I don't want to take up your time." She said, a little sad that no one showed up for class. She thought it was kind of interesting, but at the same time, she was kind of relaxed about not having class today.

She started to pack up the things she pulled out for the class, looking to the Professor.

Charlie smiled softly, "nonsense, I have to stick around at college all day for classes," he said. He set his book down, "tell you what it's up to you, but if you want me to cover it now, it'll only take about twenty minutes, and then next week, you don't have to come to class," he suggested lightly.

He rose to his feet, moving over towards the papers, figuring he should pack them away. He felt a little embarrassed that no other students had shown up

Natasha looked to him and smiled. She felt really sorry for him, and couldn't believe that no one showed up on the first day. "Well if you would like, I would love to hear what you had planned for us today." She smiled as she pulled out her notebook once again.

"And I'll even show up next week, just because I want to, and to be support for you." She said without thinking.

Charlie smiled softly, she seemed sweet. "Well thank you Miss Anders, but I half guessed most people would miss today, or show up late, so I kept it simple," he said. He moved back to the front, and began talking her through the parts of the paper, and what would be expected.

He let her ask questions and clarified things for her. He wrapped up what he had planned on covering in twenty minutes, in far more detail than usual. He smiled weakly, and moved closer to her, "Between you and me, I wouldn't worry about buying a textbook, I have a spare copy I can bring in for you," he said lightly.

Natasha looked to him and smiled sweetly as he took the time to go over everything with her. She thought it was really sweet how he took the time to explain everything just to her.

When he was done and wrapping up everything from that day's lesson, Natasha took the papers, gently placing them into her bag. When he offered the spare copy of the textbook, she just smiled. "If you're only sure about it." She said with a sincere smile.

Charlie smiled, glad that's she'd stuck around and actually paid attention to him. He packed away his things, "Yeah I'm sure, don't worry about it," he said. He found her quite interesting, and she'd asked decent questions, he was looking forward to teaching her, this semester.

He finished packing up his things, and looked up at her again, 'well thank you for sticking around, and seriously don't worry about coming in next week, I'll just be covering the same stuff, for everyone else," he said. He clicked his briefcase closed, "but if you want to, feel free,' he said.
