If he'd just argued on the basis of not wanting to deal with the Council or wanting her to rest, Ceren would have argued more, but as it was, this was the most time they'd spent with each other in days, and she found that she had trouble saying no to him when he was being sweet. And when he was kissing her, but Elwin usually only wielded that tool of persuasion in particular situations. "Okay," she relented when Aerith chimed in as well, giving her friend a smile. "Thank you both."

As Aerith and Nyrel left to do as they said, she pressed a kiss to Elwin's cheek. "I'm sorry if I seem like I don't want to spend time with you, El," she said softly, squeezing his hand. "It isn't, I promise. I guess it's just that I feel like I should be doing something, since I feel fine. Whatever ability to relax you managed to get into me in the mountains has just completely disappeared, I think."
"Just give us a couple minutes," Nyrel added, waving off Ceren's thanks, and followed Aerith back out into the hall as she tugged on his hand. In the hall, they found Earl Ciaran, one of younger members of the Council, and before he stepped in to intervene at Aerith's nudge, Nyrel turned to give his wife a quick kiss. "Early dinner? We'll talk about the cabin and... what just happened. I don't want you to be upset about this Aer," he said softly, aware that he could probably be overheard and not wanting to reveal everything to the guards and the earl. It once only once he had her agreement that he let her go to attend to what she needed to do and turned back to Ciaran.

"Lord Stonewater! Why am I being blocked from reaching the king? I'm trying to speak to him on behalf of the Council and the nobility," the elf said quickly upon realizing that he had Nyrel's attention.

Nyrel took a breath and crossed his arms. "The King is with his wife, who was just poisoned. He's rightfully concerned and focused on her health, not that I noticed you asking after it." The earl was set to stuttering at that, and in his haste to correct his misstep, it was easy enough for Nyrel to guide him down the hall, away from the infirmary doors.

Elwin smiled down at Ceren as she kissed his cheek, tugging her close when she apologized. "It's fine, Ceren, I know you're not doing anything intentional. And trust me, you don't need to do anything. Given everything that's happened, is prefer if you didn't do anything, or at least did less. I'm hoping that I can convince you to take it easy and relax though, just like we did in the mountains." He grinned a bit, pressing a kiss to her forehead, although he looked up as he heard whatever conversation was happening at the doorway fade off down the hall. Giving a tug of her arm he slowly began to lead her out of the infirmary, making sure the coast was clear before he led her into the hall and toward the wing where Aerith and Nyrel's rooms were.

Elwin hummed after linking his arm through hers, giving her hand a squeeze. "Any idea what kind of room layout you might want? I'm sure we can find something that will work for us."
Aerith was glad to follow him toward the entrance to the infirmary, although she frowned when he paused before the reached the door, looking at him after he kissed her. "Hmm? Oh, early dinner.. I'm.. I'm not upset." She murmured defensively, but nodded in agreement to his idea about having early dinner. She wasn't going to argue with him, not now. Once that was settled she stepped away from Nyrel as he dealt with Lord Ciaran while she spoke to the guards about making sure to keep the nobility away from Elwin and Ceren while they chose a new set of rooms, as well as ordering them to gather as much from the destroyed room as possible so that it could be moved to their new rooms once they'd been chosen.

Once that was taken care of she moved back over to Nyrel, linking her arm through his while she listened to him speak with Ciraran.

Ceren smiled at Elwin's response to her apology. "You'd always prefer I do less though," she pointed out, poking at his side. "And you might be able to, especially if you use the same method," she added, leaning in for a kiss, though it was cut short as the conversation outside moved away from the door, and she and Elwin stood and made their way out of the infirmary and in the opposite direction of the voices, towards the wing Aerith and Nyrel resided in. As they walked with their arms linked, Elwin still in yesterday's clothes--after her initial inspection of him, she forced herself not to linger on the traces of blood on his shirt--and her in a patient's gown, a couple of guards trailed at a distance. "Hmm, I'm not really picky, as long as we have at least one extra room for the twins." Gods, she didn't think she'd ever get used to thinking about that or even thinking of herself as pregnant; it was so surreal. "We might want an office area too, given how much we bring back with us, since it all ends up on whatever surface we can fit it anyway." That, at least, they were both equally bad about.
Nyrel was in the midst of giving Ciaran an update on everything he and Aerith had gotten moving, as well as an update on the Queen's health, when Aerith caught up with them, slipping her arm around him. Since he'd thought they would end up separating until dinner--hence his quick arrangement for an early dinner--he thought for half a second that it wasn't her and was tense until he recognized his wife. Squeezing her hand, he wrapped up everything he had to say to Ciaran about everything that had happened over the night and into the morning--all except Ceren's pregnancy, which he figured she and Elwin would like to announce themselves. "Anything I'm missing on your end, Aer?" he asked after he finished.

Elwin chuckled at her teasing, kissing her back quickly before grinning down at her mischievously. "I'd be happy to use the same methods. Especially now that we don't have to worry about you getting pregnant." He teased softly as he led her down the hall, giving a little nod to the guards who followed them at a distance when he noticed them. He nodded in agreement at her suggestions, giving her hand a little squeeze. "Yes, having our room, a nursery for the twins, and an office space for us would be nice. Maybe also a living area, where we can speak with Council members or play with the twins, or have Aerith and Nyrel over for dinner, without them all being in our bedroom." He suggested, pressing a kiss to her forehead as they walked.
Aerith shook her head a little when Nyrel asked her if there was anything else for her to add, slipping her arm away from his to cross hers over her chest. She'd noticed how he'd tensed up when she first arrived, and even though she knew he probably just hadn't realized it was her, she didn't want to make him uncomfortable, so figured it was better to just keep her distance while they were speaking with Ciaran. "No. The guards will be conducting extra patrols, and may request that the nobility and Council members remain in their rooms, and to not wander around the castle while they conduct their interviews and investigation." She explained, knowing that this would probably upset the young Earl, but it was for everyone's safety.

Pregnant. That was going to take Ceren time to fully wrap her head around. The fact that she was pregnant, and they were going to be parents before the year was out. It seemed surreal. Still, she smiled at her husband's teasing, shaking her head as she squeezed his arm. "Don't act like you held back at the mountains. If I wasn't sitting in the snow, you were making me feel like I should be," she countered, using the phrase they'd come up with on the first day of their honeymoon. As he offered another room idea, she chuckled softly. "Listen to us. We're going to find something with all these rooms, and then we're not going to know what to put in them." As they rounded the corner and entered the wing Aerith and Nyrel lived in, she glanced around at the doors. "Do you know if anyone else lives here? I'd feel bad if we barged into someone else's rooms."
Nyrel frowned a bit as he felt Aerith pull away, glancing over at her to make sure nothing was wrong. She didn't look upset, but she was good at keeping appearances around others usually. Since her arms were over her chest though, he didn't attempt to take her hand again, leaving her alone momentarily as she spoke her piece.

"That's ridiculous," the earl replied, coming to a stop. "Everyone can't simply be confined to their rooms and all operations in the castle close down. Detain suspects by all means, but the rest of us should have our freedom to move around and do what needs to be done. The King can't have ordained this nonsense."

Nyrel sidestepped into the councilman's path when he turned and tried to double back towards the infirmary. "The King wants answers and has left the process of retrieving those answers to his advisor and general while he focuses on his wife and her recovery. If you're sure you want to discuss this him though, go ahead." Nyrel stepped away, smiling at Ciaran only watched him with narrowed eyes rather than rushing off as some of the other council members might have. "Good choice. Your King wants to be left alone today and will be considering anyone who goes out of their way to seek him out to be volunteering for the job of food taster."

Elwin chuckled as she scolded him about their trip to the mountains, leaning down to press a kiss to her forehead. "Can you blame me? It was our honeymoon. We were supposed to spend our time wanting to sit in the snow." He teased, squeezing her hand as they entered the wing that Nyrel and Aerith lived in. He shook his head at her question about others living here, looking around at all of the doors. "No. I purposefully choose this wing for them because there weren't people regularly living in these rooms. Usually ambassadors and dignitaries from other kingdoms stay in the rooms here when they visit, but that doesn't happen often, so it should be quiet." He explained. "I also might suggest that we pick a room that isn't immediately next to Aerith and Nyrel's.. Not that I don't want neighbors, but I'm sure they don't want to listen to crying twins just as much as we don't want to wake up to whatever noises Aerith's creatures make."
Aerith frowned as Ciaran simply dismissed her orders as nonsense, shoulders tensing a bit as she started at him. If even the youngest member of the nobility wouldn't listen to her, how could she expect anyone else to? She was grateful when Nyrel stopped the Earl and put him back in his place, clearing her throat a little before speaking again. "It's only for today. The King's priority right now is the Queen's recovery and safety, and until we find out who attempted to poison her we ask that the nobility remain in their rooms, not only to speed up the questioning and make it the investigation easier, but also for their safety." She explained, allowing her shoulders to slump when Ciaran turned around with a huff and stormed off down the hall. Once he was gone she offered Nyrel a small smile, although it looked forced. "Maybe you should be the general.. Everyone listens to you."

"And now look what's happened because of it," Ceren teased, knowing as well as he did that their honeymoon had been too long ago to be when they'd gotten pregnant. She nodded as he explained that no one else lived in the wing. "I just wanted to make sure. I knew it was usually used for guests, but I didn't know if there were any oddballs like Aerith and Nyrel who also preferred the quiet and wanted to be back here," she explained as their steps slowed, smiling at his suggestion. "Probably a good idea. We should probably just start opening doors and looking around though, I suppose. I have no idea what all is back here or how it's arranged." That said, Ceren stepped up to the room closest to them and pulled open the door.
Nyrel frowned at Ciaran's retreating back, the earl hardly having given Aerith the time of day, then looked back to his wife with a shake of his head as he reached for her hands. "I'm good at politics, not strategy or wielding a sword. There's a reason you're the general," he said, kissing her hands. The day had hardly started, and it was already rough on her, despite his trying to help. Pulling her close, he gave her a little smile. "I didn't plan on telling you this, but because you look like you need it, I'll tell you why they listen to me," he said, placing a kiss on her forehead. "I threatened them. The Council did something I didn't like, and, well," he gave her a sheepish look, "I didn't quite choke them with my magic, but I made sure they couldn't move while I told them exactly how I could make their lives living hells. And I've spent so much time around the nobility and learning all their dirty secrets that I could live up to that promise. If you wanted to threaten them so they'll start taking you more seriously too, I could give you some of my information. Or just tell them you'll tell your husband that they hurt you. If they don't believe you, let me know, and I'll back you up on making an example of the one person so you're believed in the future." He smiled down at her, being completely genuine in his offer.

Elwin chuckled at her teasing, giving her hand a squeeze. "Alright alright, I'll take the blame on this one. But if there's ever a next time, it's entirely your fault for being too beautiful to resist." He teased, pressing a kiss to her cheek as they practically came to a stop in the hall. "Seems like a reasonable suggestion. I'll open doors on this side of the hall while you open doors on that one? If we find anything we like we'll call the other one over?" He suggested, releasing her hand for what was likely the first time today, crossing the hall to open the first door there, also peering into the room. Elwin went on like that for seven straight rooms, all of them duds in his opinion, sighing in frustration as he came out of the one he was just inspecting, shutting the door behind him. "Any luck?"
Aerith pouted a bit as he kissed her hands, knowing he was only doing it because she was upset. She felt like a child for getting upset over nothing. She should be upset about Ceren nearly being killed, not about the nobility refusing to listen to her, or the fact that she wasn't pregnant like Ceren. She looked up at her husband in surprise as he explained how he'd threatened the nobility to get them to listen to him, her eyes widening a bit as he offered to threaten them for her, too. She knew he was serious, and her heart felt like it was going to burst from how much she loved him in that moment, and all she could do to ease the pressure there was standing on her toes to press a loving kiss to his lips. "You have no idea how much that means to me, Nyrel.. Or how much it makes me want to be a bad sibling."

"Okay, it can be my fault next time," Ceren laughed, a hint of a blush in her face as Elwin leaned in to kiss her cheek. She squeezed his hand, nodding in answer to his suggestion. Given his initial proclamation of claiming he would never let her out of his sight again, she was both surprised at his actions and glad that he wasn't as scared as he'd seemed earlier. She let him go and turned to the nearest room, walking in to look it over. She'd walked through about five suites when she stopped in one, standing in what was set up as a tea room. As she looked around, tears began to fall down her face, a hand going to her stomach, and it was only the sound of Elwin's voice from the hall that pulled her away.

Ceren rushed back out into the hall, still crying, took Elwin's hand, and basically pulled him after her as she brought him into the rooms. "I found it!" she said triumphantly. "Look!" She brought him back to the tea room. It never occurred to her that Elwin might not see what she did. It had the perfect number of rooms--a bedroom, a sitting area, a library, and the tea room--and like all guest spaces in the castle, was already furnished. It was layered in about a dozen different layers of dust and hideously decorated besides, but what Ceren saw in the tea room was a nursery that could later be converted into a second bedroom for a pair of children.
Nyrel figured Aerith wouldn't be too upset with him about threatening the nobility, if at all, though he hadn't been sure if she'd want his help in doing the same. When she kissed him, it was a pleasant surprise. He returned her kiss as his arms automatically wrapped around her, holding her close, though he cocked her head at her words. "Bad sibling?" he asked, obviously confused. It clicked a moment later, but his confused expression persisted. "Wait, really?" There was a note of disbelief in his voice. Then, chuckling softly, he shook his head and kissed her again. "If I knew that's all it took, I'd have been telling you about every person this whole time."

Elwin's brows furrowed in concern when he saw her tears, worried something was wrong, but as she pulled him into the dusty room and proclaimed that she'd found their new set of rooms, the tension in his shoulders eased, and he wrapped his arms around her comfortingly. He assumed that the tears were likely because of her pregnancy, reflecting on how she'd cried like this once or twice in the past few weeks, although he'd never been sure why until now. "It's perfect, Ceren." He murmured as he leaned down to press a loving kiss to her lips. "I'll have it cleaned up right away, and the furniture replaced with something more.. tasteful." He smiled a bit, wiping her tears away with his thumb. "Once it's cleaned and the furniture arrives, you can give all the orders about where you want everything, so it's set up exactly the way you want. But I don't want you lifting a thing, understand?" He knew that she'd want to help, so he'd have to be around at that time too to make sure she didn't injure herself trying to lift a heavy box, but he didn't mind.
Aerith blushed at his confused look, nodding sheepishly as he asked her if that's really how she felt, but happily returned his kiss, her arms snaking around his neck as she smiled up at him. "To be fair, it doesn't really take much.." She admitted, her cheeks growing hotter as she pressed a quick kiss to his lips before hiding her face in his neck, feeling rather embarrassed about the whole thing. It wasn't like they had time to do anything anyway, so she'd have to settle for these few kisses and this moment with his arms around her, which was better than nothing.

Ceren leaned into Elwin as he wrapped his arms around her, watching him closely to see what he thought of the rooms and smiling when he claimed it was perfect. Since it was a bit rough around the edges and probably hadn't been used in over a decade, she was glad that he'd seen what she had. She sniffled, also wiping at her tears, and gave him a sheepish look. "Sorry, I really don't know what happened. I was just standing here, and I could see this being the nursery, and next thing I knew, I was crying," she explained, though she was distracted from the tears soon enough. "Why not? As long as it isn't in the next couple of days, it'll be fine. I'm just supposed to take it easy until my magic has had time to replenish itself."
Nyrel chuckled, holding Aerith close as she wrapped her arms around him and tucked into him. "As long as you only want to be a bad sibling with me, I'll never complain about that," he teased, though he meant it. With Ciaran gone, they were alone in the hall now. "You know... we did our duties as good siblings and checked on Ceren and Elwin already, and there isn't really much else to do today other than check in with the guards and see what's happening, and I imagine they'd come find us once they figured out who poisoned the food. It isn't as if they need us for interrogations." He pulled back a bit, looking down at her. "If you want... it's your turn to pick a room."

Elwin smiled down at her, shaking his head a little when she apologized for the crying. "It's fine, Ceren. They're happy tears." He pressed a kiss to her forehead, but pulled back to give her a stern look when she said that she only had to take it easy until her magic replenished itself. "No, Ceren. You're supposed to take it easy because you're pregnant with twins. You're a healer, so you should know more about how rare and problematic pregnancies can be fore people with magic, let alone pregnancies where the woman is having twins. You're going to take it easy whether your magic replenishes itself or not." He said matter-of-factly, giving her hands a squeeze. "Understand?"
Aerith lifted her head from where it rested on his shoulder to look up at him as he spoke, her cheeks heating up again as he suggested she pick a room. "Are you sure..? I know how busy you've been with your Council meetings, and that you're behind on paperwork for Elwin.. I don't want to distract you when you should be catching up on your work." She murmured, smoothing her hands over his chest. She wanted more than anything to go hide away in some random room with him for the next few hours, but also knew how important his job as Elwin's advisor was to him, and how seriously he took it. The last thing she wanted was him regretting spending this time with her.

Before he even spoke, Ceren had a good idea of what Elwin would said; he had a look that he seemed to reserve just for when he thought she was being unreasonable--usually in relation to her health or well-being in some way. "El..." Ceren sighed, squeezing his hands. "I've never been sick a day in my life thanks to my magic. I'm pregnant despite us actively trying to prevent that from happening. What makes you think I'm suddenly going to have problems now? Twins or not, there's no reason for me to have any problems, and besides, I'm not even showing yet. If it was so swollen I could barely stand on my own or might go into labor any day, I'd agree, but right now, there's no reason for me to do anything any differently from usual." She pressed up on her toes and kissed his cheek. I'll take it easy for a couple of days like Taliesin told me to and towards the end of things, but there's no reason for me to sit around the rest of the time."
Nyrel shook his head as Aerith asked if he was sure, leaning down and pressing a lingering kiss to her lips. "If I wasn't sure, I wouldn't have made the offer," he murmured, running a hand through her hair. "I might be behind on my paperwork, but so are Elwin and Ceren, and they're taking a break. I think I deserve one too. Especially since it's been too long since I've spent quality time with my wife." With a mischievous glint in his eyes, he leaned in, trailing little kisses along her neck and gently nipping the spot he knew she liked. "There isn't even one room you'd like to check out?"

Elwin frowned as she spoke, sighing as she squeezed his hands and explained that there was nothing they should be worrying about. He was inclined to disagree with her, to insist that she should be resting for more than just a few days, but he figured he'd save his arguing for later on, when she was showing and when she was having obvious side effects. "Alright, fine... But if Taliesin tells you to rest, you have to, understood?"
Aerith hummed faintly against his lips as he kissed her, leaning her head into his hand as he brushed his fingers through her hair. It was getting longer, the wavy strands nearly brushing her shoulders, and she knew she'd either have to cut it soon or learn how to braid it. She silently wondered whether Nyrel liked it like this, or if he preferred it short, and she made a mental note to ask him later. "I like spending time with my husband.." she hummed happily as he kissed her neck, her grip tightening on his shirt as he nipped at the spot she liked, pressing closer in his arms. "Hmm.. The library? Or our room. Both are good." To be fair she'd be fine with being bad siblings with him right here in the halls, but knew that they'd certainly get caught.

Ceren could tell he still didn't like it, but she thought her assurance that she would slow down later in the pregnancy worked because he relented. "Deal," she said, leaning up to kiss him. "But you can't coerce him into it. He has to honestly think, without you saying anything, that I have to rest." Elwin'd had conversations with Taliesin about her well-being before, and she wouldn't put it past him to do it again.
As Aerith answered his question, Nyrel pulled back with a little grin, glad it hadn't taken much convincing to assure her that he really did want to spend some time with her. He leaned in and kissed her again, humming when he pulled back. "Let's do library then. Elwin and Ceren are poking around our wing right now, and we probably don't want to be caught being bad siblings." He kissed her again, tugging her close.

Elwin chuckled gently against her lips as she made him promise not to coerce Taliesin into making her rest, grinning down at her. "Fine. But if I have a concern I can't promise I won't bring it up with him, bit it's his decision in the end, ok?" He settled, pressing a kiss to her forehead before leading her out of the room, speaking with the guards briefly about this being their new room and making the necessary arrangements to have it cleaned and refurbished as soon as possible, before he began to lead Ceren back toward the wing where their old room was. "I suppose we're lucky your old room is still intact and furnished. I don't know about you, but I'm exhausted."
After an hour or so of distracting one another in the library they made their way back to their room, where they spent another hour of distracting each other before they finally settled into bed to rest for a while. Aerith hadn't bothered to get dressed again, preferring to remain curled up in her husband's arms, her skin pressed against his as they relished the feeling of being with one another, the sheets and blankets tangled around them. "You don't have to get up now, right? We can stay like this for a while longer?" She asked as she tilted her head to look at him. She'd let him go if he had to, but it'd been so long since they could just lay in each other's arms like this without having to worry about being interupted, or missing a meeting or getting enough sleep.

Ceren smiled, giving him one last kiss. "I can accept that." If their roles were reversed and she thought something was wrong with Elwin, she wouldn't hesitate to bring it up with a healer. She was lucky in that she didn't have to worry too much because she could check him out herself whenever she wanted to make sure that he was alright and would know what to do if there was something wrong. She glanced at him as he began to lead the way back down the halls, away from the infirmary, but before she could ask where they were going, he mentioned her room. "It's only a couple of doors down from ours though, and I thought the damage reached the whole wing. Are you sure it's intact?" She'd yet to see what happened and honestly had no idea.
In the wake of their distraction, Nyrel was happy to just lay with Aerith and held her close, tracing inane patterns against the bare skin of her back as he enjoyed the feeling of just having her in his arms. Given how busy things were and were bound to continue to be, he wasn't sure when he'd get another moment like it again and hummed quietly with his eyes closed until Aerith spoke. He probably should get up, actually. He probably should've caught up on his paperwork instead of doing this in the first place. He'd missed his wife though, and he held her a little closer to him. "Of course. This is part of us being bad siblings," he said, pressing a kiss to her forehead. "Honestly, I'm tempted to lay here until someone comes with news about whoever poisoned Cer."

Elwin frowned a bit as she mentioned the damaged he'd caused, slowly coming to a stop as they walked in the hall, brows furrowing worriedly. "I knew I'd destroyed the room, not the wing.." he murmured guiltily, looking at her for a moment before looking away with a sigh, running his fingers through his hair in frustration. "I'm sorry, Cer.. I didn't mean to wreck everything.. I'll figure out where we can stay in the meantime, I should have done it sooner instead of sleeping, but I didn't think.. I didn't think it was that bad.."
Aerith was happy and content to doze in his arms, listening to him hum and focus on the patterns he was tracing on her back. She hummed happily when he tugged her closer and kissed her forehead, her arms tightening around him a bit as her legs tangled with his, tracing her own patterns over his chest. "But what if they don't find them for days? Does that mean you'll stay with me that long?" She asked curiously, tilting her head to look up at him with a little smile.

Seeing Elwin hadn't realized what had happened and that he wasn't taking it well, Ceren stepped close and took his hands in hers. "Hey, it's okay," she said softly, squeezing his hands before letting go of one to cup his cheek. "From what I heard, you only destroyed our room. It wasn't confined to the room though. The rest of the wing was damaged too, with the worst of it being around our room. I'm sorry. I thought you knew. We should still look at my old room. It could be perfectly fine." She pressed up on her toes and kissed his lips. "You haven't wrecked everything, okay? And no one could blame you for what happened. Other people accidentally lash out with their magic with less reason than you had."
Nyrel smiled down at her with a little chuckle as she asked what they'd do if it took days to catch the person. "You know, I just might," he said, pushing a few stray strands of hair out of her face. "We might have to get up to eat and bathe, but we could just stay here with each other other than that. Elwin might come and force me to be a good sibling if it takes that long though, in which case I'd probably have to go early." He pressed a kiss to her lips. "I'll stay as long as I can though."

Elwin leaned his head into her hand, eventually just resting his forehead against hers as he tugged her close. "If it's structurally unstable, I don't want to risk bringing you there.. I'd never forgive myself if anything happened to you because of the destruction I caused." He sighed, returning her kiss as he squeezed her hands. "We'll find an interim room somewhere else. I promise, I'll fix things.." he murmured, kissing her forehead before tugging her back toward the infirmary, hoping that maybe Taliesin would have some suggestions.
Aerith giggled as Nyrel chuckled, nuzzling her nose against him before pressing a few kisses to his chest. "Eating and bathing count as spending time with each other, so that's reasonable.. Maybe we could pretend we're not here if Elwin comes looking for us, hide in the wardrobe and avoid him." She suggested, knowing that it was a childish suggestion, but she missed him, and wanted to spend as much time as she could with her husband before he had to leave again.
