Howls of laughter filled Raelynn's ears as she sat in front of a rather large
bon fire. Her bare feet dug into the sand that she was sitting on. Taking in a slight warmth the earth would provide as a cool breeze blew and caused the fire's warmth to blow the other way. today, well, tonight really was her eighteenth birthday. She was legally an adult in the human realm, not that it would equate to much as her packmates were very protective of her. Never allowing her to explore on her own, for she was the only shifter female within hundreds or even thousands of miles.
Dark blue eyes glanced towards the right as the appearance of a fellow pack member caught Rae's attention. Charles, one of the males who often went out with Rae when she wanted to explore the city. His dark brown hair looked almost black with the lack of light, his dark brown eyes appearing black. To those without the eyes of a wolf, he'd seem scary, but, Rae knew him. He was a sweetheart. She'd trust him with her life. She has, multiple times actually.
"Hey." The young female greeted the male as she wrapped her arms around her legs as she brought them closer to her chest. Her head resting on her knees as she took in the rather fit the appearance of the male beside her. "Hey, you tired?" He asked as he sat down next to her, a beer in his hand. Rae watched as Charles relaxed back on one arm, his eyes on her, but her attention was on the dancing light on his face as the flames danced a small ways away.
"A little, it's been a fun day." She murmured quietly, a small smile playing along with her lips. The pack had gone out of their way to plan the bonfire for her, knowing that one of her favorite things was a nice night just looking out at the water and star gazing. "Why don't I walk you home? It's been a long day and I don't want to risk you falling into the water." Charles said, teasing Rae and giving her one of his teasing grins.
Maybe it was her instincts, but Rae got the feeling that she shouldn't trust Charles tonight. There was just something in his eyes that caused her to feel a little nervous. "I-I don't-" Charles cut Rae off so she couldn't finish her words. "I'm not drunk if that's what you're worried about," Charles said, showing her that his beer wasn't even halfway gone. "This is my first one still. Promise." He crossed his heard in an X motion to make his point across a little bit stronger.
Rae stared at Charles for a moment more, her lips pursing into a thin line as she thought then parted slightly as she let out a small sigh. Her hands moving to rest on her bare knees as she stood up. "Alright, fine." She murmured quietly as she dusted off her white shorts and fixed her burgundy off the shoulder top. "Let's go. I feel like I'm going to crash at any moment." Rae murmured, which caused a grin to appear on Charles' lips as he jumped up. Leaving his beer on the ground, the taller male offered for the female to start walking towards the pack's summer home before he'd follow.
"So chilverous." Rae mused, rolling her eyes teasingly before she offered a small smile and headed towards the small path that led towards the house.
The walk was quiet as the two walked towards the house, leaving the rest of the shifters at the beach still. The smell of the smoke dulling Rae's sense of smell for the next few hours, not that she minded. It made her think of summer and how it'd be the only season where she was allowed to stay up later than her bedtime when she was a pup. It was calming, a very warm memory. Something that never ceased to cause a small smile to appear on her lips.
Then, as the two were halfway to the house. Or at least, that's what Rae assumed as she had been following Charles, a branch snapped and caused Rae to turn around quickly. "What was that?" She asked, feeling the hairs on the back on her neck and arms raise with uncertainty. "Nothing that you need to worry about," Charles said next to her, which caused a small frown to appear on the girl's lips as she turned her head towards him. Rae hadn't been taught to let her guard down, so when she glanced at Charles, another wolf jumped out of the woods and grabbed her, wrapping one of their arms around her waist while the other went to cover her mouth.
The young she'wolf tried to scream and kick as she tried to escape her captors. Doing all that she could to get away, but failed as another strange wolf came out of the shadows and injected something into her neck. An within moments, caused the world to seem to slow down as Rae started to feel sluggish and out of it. "We got her, let's go." One of the strange males said in a gruff voice as he grabbed Rae's waist and flung her onto his shoulder like a sack of potatoes. "Come, newbie, I'm sure
he will want to thank you for bringing this prize straight to
him." The gruff voice spoke causing a wave of curiosity to wash over Raelynn. She would have focused on wondering what he meant, but sleep seemed to be creeping up as Rae slowly fell asleep, not catching the rest of the conversation.
