Thomas had a brief moment of panic when she gave him such a shocked look at his explanation, sure she'd think less of him because of his actions. But he relaxed at her reassurances, and let out a sigh as she placed her hand over his. He smiled as she spoke about her great grandfather being a farmer, giving a little nod. "Most wealthy families started out as farmers, if you go back far enough in their family tree.. I just wish my father would accept the way I want to live my life and leave us alone." He sighed watching as she pulled her hand back to return to eating, doing the same after a moment. He appreciated that she was trying to get to know him, and had even taken care of him in one way or another at multiple points throughout the day. "Everyone else in my family seems to view being humble as a flaw, so I'm glad you think differently." He offered her a smile as he ate a forkful of potatoes, glancing over at the cook and maid as they hurried from the room, trying to hide their whispers and giggles.
Eleanor blushed at his laughter, feeling even more foolish for bringing it up. But his words reassured her that maybe, somehow whatever feelings the two of them shared with each other were acceptable. She nodded as he explained that he would be busy for the rest of the day, looking up at him. "That's alright.. I can take the tour tomorrow whenever you're free, and I can just rest for the rear of the afternoon and evening... I haven't been getting much sleep at the tavern, and I think I worry that I might have caught a cold." She frowned, worried he'd be upset with her for not taking care of herself. "If you're seeing the king shortly, you should probably leave, so as not to be late." She pointed out. The last thing she wanted was for him to get in trouble. "I can just ask a servant for some stew or something for dinner, and some medicine if I really begin to feel ill." She explained, standing to smooth out the wrinkles in his shirt and jacket, knowing he'd need to be presentable for the King. "Thank you for helping me, William.. I appreciate it."

Clara smiled at him, “you know it’s their job to want what’s best for you.” She told him, “you’ll feel the same way about our kids.” She said knowing they would eventually be pushed to having kids by their parents. And she’d spent the last few days thinking over everything about what it meant to be a wife. And even though they didn’t know each other yet she still felt that having kids was something she wanted, not yet but wouldn’t be opposed to having. With them taking the time to get aquatinted she felt that in a year or so they’d be able to try. She knew however she wasn’t ready yet to lay in his bed. They had far more thing to work over. “Well my mother made sure that I was well versed in all things a young lady should, but my father pushed for me for more. They tend to set expectations when we’re children and when we don’t reach that expectation they see it as they failed as parents. But he’ll come around once he see the profit of it.” She said knowing she’d been around plenty of conversation where men were discussing business, however it wasn’t right for a woman to input her opinion unleaded asked. Though her mother was always vocal at dinner about such matters. Her father had always encouraged it unless guest were present.
William looked at her he’d not noticed her showing any signs of being ill. However when she said that she wasn’t sleeping well he knew exactly why. Shaking off his anger he quickly moved to her, leaning down he placed a soft kiss to her forehead. He wasn’t brave enough to kiss her lips again. She’d scolded him once and he didn’t want to hear it again. “I’ll have them send dinner up when it’s ready.” He told her. “And a book or two.” He knew that he’d only allowing women in this part of the castle for the time being. His guards would be informed not to allow anyone but the maid staff in. He didn’t want her feeling like she couldn’t sleep. “Don’t be afraid to ask them for anything. They are after all required to take care of my guests.” He told her knowing she wasn’t used to them yet but she would soon learn to. “I’ll stop by and check on you before I head to bed.” He told her, knowing he’d sleep better knowing she was okay. Turning her headed to the door.

Thomas blinked in surprise when she mentioned the two of them having kids, staring at her for a long moment in shock. It wasn't like he was opposed to the idea. He'd love to have children. But he didn't want to force her into it if she didn't want, and he worried that she was only saying that because she felt like it was her duty. "Clara.. We don't have to have children if you don't want to." He began, looking at her with a little frown. "I'm not one of those men who takes advantage and forces myself upon their wives as soon as they've married. It's disgusting behavior, and then the children end up growing up without happy parents." He sighed, looking at his plate. "I'm not going to force you into anything, Clara, so you don't have to say things like that because you feel like you need to." He explained, looking back up at her with a little smile. "I'd rather you do and say what you want, not what your parents want."
Eleanor closed her eyes tiredly as he pressed a kiss to her forehead, feeling worn out. It didn't help that she had an awful headache, and when he kissed her it was obvious her forehead was a bit warm to the touch and clammy, sure signs of an impending illness. She nodded when he said he'd send up dinner but blushed at the mention of books, looking up at him sheepishly. "Don't bother.. I.. I can't read." She admitted softly, looking away in embarrassment. She felt like a fool. How could he be interested in a peasant who couldn't read? Surely he'd come to his senses and get rid of her once he realized how foolish she was. Once his jacket was adjusted she sat back down on the bed with a little sigh, nodding when he said he'd come back to check on her later tonight. "Alright.. Thank you, William." She murmured as he turned and left, standing up to look around her new room.

After familiarizing herself with her room she called for a maid and politely asked for the things she needed to bathe, and was quite surprised when the maid insisted that she help her. She attempted to argue at first, trying to insist that she could do it herself, but as she began to feel worse she gave in and let the maid help. Once she was bathed and dressed in a clean nightgown she tucked herself into bed, absolutely exhausted. She ended up falling asleep not long after, and even though dinner was brought she only woke up long enough to thank the maid who brought it and eat a few bites of a piece of bread before she settled back into the blankets and fell asleep. She couldn't believe that she was in the palace, let alone living here with all the comforts she'd only ever dreamed of. She knew she'd have to find a way to thank William for his help sometime soon, but she wasn't sure what she could possibly give a prince.

Clara froze when he didn’t drop the subject of having children. She knew that it wasn’t a subject they were to the point of really having. But it was nice knowing where he stood. Because most men would expect an heir at some point in their lives. Smiling at Thomas she placed down her knife and fork. “I would like children.” She told him firmly, her cheeks warming at the sensation of her blush. “But that’s something I think is best for a later date.” She said pushing to end the topic. They were taking the time to get to know each other, so if at some point she feels like she’s willing to lay in his bed she would. Even if they only do it just to conceive. However she didn’t want to think of any of that at the moment. She wanted to focus on themselves for the time being. Turning back to her food she felt at a loss of what to talk about. She really wanted something to distract them from this topic however her mind was pulling a blank. She knew that they weren’t ready for kids and it made her nervous just thinking about. Not because she didn’t think she’d be a good mother, her thoughts were on the man before her. Would he be disappointed in her if she failed to conceive. She hated to think how it would effect their barely existing relationship.
William spent the majority of the day with his father and a few of the advisors. They were speaking about expanding their borders. And increasing security on the borders. The neighboring country was failing to accommodate it’s people. And many of them were fleeing to other countries in search of work or even assistance. However what truly drew his father was that vast land that was being offered, farming land. They were having a hard time in supplying crops to their country and the added land would serve them better. However the price of the land was this issue was it really worth the cost. So before the night ended it was settled his father and a select few would ride out to view the land, they then could determine if purchasing it was worth it.

William had offered to go in his fathers stead knowing he needed more hands on experience, but instead his father left all his duties to him before he’d embark. William knew it was a sign of good faith. However it was pointless as his father was taking most of the men that reported to him with him. So it was a moot point. Ignoring the thoughts he headed to his head maid. After questioning her about Eleanor he requested medication for her fever. Then he headed up, he knew from his short visit that she’d not eaten much and that she was sleeping. However he had promised to check on her. And that was exactly what he plan to do. Wrapping his knuckle against the door he waited shortly for an answer, when he didn’t receive one he pushed the door open. Not surprised to see her sleeping. Stepping inside he closed the door behind him, he didn’t want to get in a habit of allowing prying ears. Placing the medication down on her bedside table he moved to her. “Eleanor.” He coed, gently stroking her arm. He wasn’t sure how hard waking her was going to be.

Thomas smiled a little at her blush, nodding a little as she spoke. He was glad that she had heard him and understood his position, and was surprisingly happy to hear that she'd one day want children as well, although he knew it was a long way off. Reaching across the table he hesitantly took one of her hands in his, gently brushing his callused finger over her silky skin. He didn't mean for it to be intimate or anything, but it felt like the right thing to do, so while he continued to eat and struggled to come up with something to talk about he held her hand. The meal was interupted not long after, however, when one of his servants came with a letter for him, the sight of which causing the man to sit back in his chair and sigh in frustration, taking it to read it over. He cursed as he finished the letter and let it fall on the table while he ran his hands over his face and through his hair in frustration. "My parents will be visiting for a week or two. They'll be here tomorrow evening." He informed her with a frown, worried about how she'd take the news. It was hard enough trying to get to know one another at the moment, let alone with his parents watching their every move.
Eleanor began to stir as soon as she heard the door open, but with her fever muddling her brain she didn't wake up as quickly as she normally would have. It wasn't until she felt someone touch her that she bolted upright, reaching to grab the dinner knife she'd tucked under her pillow, a habit she'd picked up at the tavern incase she needed to fend off anyone. She stared up at William with wide eyes as she realized where she was and who he was, shoulders relaxing as her grip on the handle of the knife loosened. "William.. It's just you..." She breathed a sigh of relief, sinking back into the mattress tiredly, her brief panic having exhausted her. "What are you doing here? Didn't that maid tell you I was sick? You'll catch whatever I have if you don't get out." She warned. The last thing she wanted was to be responsible for the death of the prince. She looked awful, however, and it was clear she had quite a bad fever. She reached and tugged her blanket around her tighter, shivering despite the fire warming the room.

Clara felt her blush spread, her ears and neck feeling warm as he took her hand. It was sweet gesture from him. She knew that neither of them knew well enough what they were doing. Somehow this felt right, no pressure. And when the servant came with the mail she didn't feel like she needed to pull away either. Knowing that what they were doing wasn't anything wrong. However the loss of his hand however expectant was a bit of a disappointment, she'd liked that they were connecting. Her eyes lifted to his when she heard him swear. "Ar." She went to question him, however he beat her to it when he started to explain his frustration. "Okay?" She asked him, knowing that it wasn't the normal reaction one would have when their parents called to visit. "We'll just make the best of it." She smiled at him, not sure if she should question him on it or let him be. But none the less they couldn't stop the visit, so making sure they were all comfortable would be what she did. Even though she was the outsider she just hoped it was going to be a peaceful visit. After all she was going to meet her mother in law and formally meet her father in law. It wasn't ideal but at the same time their wedding hadn't either.
William frowned when a knife was shoved in his direction. Shaking his head he knew it was normal for her to want to protect herself. But there wasn't a need for that any more. "I brought you medicine, the maids told me you didn't touch your dinner." He said pouring her a small amount. "Here take this." He told her, placing the cup to her lips. His free hand coming up to her prop her up so it was easier for her. Once he was satisfied that she was taken care of he stood. Leaning over her he quickly grabbed the discard knife. "You don't need this." He told her before opening the bedside table and placing it in there. He'd feel better if it wasn't in bed with her. However if it made her feel safe he'd allow it be close by. "Me get sick, it'll be a welcoming change." He told her, not remembering the last time he'd been sick. "However I'd like to spend some time with you tomorrow, so you need to get better fast." He teased her. Leaning down he pressed a kiss to her forehead, her temperature lower than earlier. "Get some sleep, I'll have the maid check on you through out the night." He knew that it was crucial for her to get sleep so he wasn't going to prolong their time together. "Goodnight." He whispered to her gently brushing his knuckle across her check. Then standing and making his exit of the room. He really didn't want to leave knowing she was sick, but he didn't think she'd approve of him staying. So he'd get his rest, while he had his night maid check in on her every so often.

Thomas looked over at her as she said that they would just make the best of it, letting out a long sigh. "That's a kind thought of yours, but my parents... They're not the kindest people. My mother at least tends to mean well, but she tends to be a bit forceful when she's trying to get what she wants. I'm sure she'll try to lock us in a room together in the hopes it would give her grandchildren faster. And my father... I only hope he'll be polite." He ran his hand through his hair as he looked down at the letter for a moment before looking back at her. "I could refuse, theoretically.. Tell them we're not accepting visitors at the moment. It has only been a few days." He offered. The last thing he wanted was for his parents to ruin any chance of them growing close to one another, especially with how much they'd progressed so far. Sure, it wasn't a lot, but he has barely spoken to her the day of their wedding, and now here they were sitting together enjoying a meal. Even if she never loved him, he at least wanted them to be friends, and he worried his parents would prevent that.
Eleanor was grateful for his help taking the medicine, happily settling back into the blankets as she watched him put her knife on the bedside table, blinking sleepily at him as he said she no longer needed it. She supposed he was right, but it was still a hard habit to shake, especially since it was easier for her to fall asleep knowing it was there. "I'll try.." she murmured weakly when he said she had to get better soon, closing her eyes sleepily as he brushed his knuckles against her cheek, reaching up to take his hand, giving it a gentle squeeze. "If I had gotten sick on the street, I would be dead..." She murmured softly, hoping he knew she was grateful for him helping her, him saving her life. She opened her eyes again, starting to call him back, as she realized she didn't really want him to leave, but he was already out the door, and she felt too weak to try to yell for him. With a little sigh she settled back into bed, drifting off to sleep. She slept soundly through the night, waking early in the morning when she heard one of the maids come into the room to stock the fire. She did feel better, likely thanks to the medicine and a good night's sleep in a warm bed, but she was still nervous about getting William sick.

Clara let out a light chuckled when he told her he could tell them they weren’t excepting guest. “Do you believe they’d listen?” She asked him smiling brightly at him. “The best thing is to play their game and they’ll leave sooner.” She had an aunt who was very pushy. Most of the time they entertained guest everyday of her visit because she wanted to feel important. Her father hated the old bag, where her mother indulged her. The day she left was the happiest and everyone in the house cried, thankful she was leaving. She knew that if his parents were as bad as he said they were she’d happily run them off. Because she wasn’t about to be told how to live her life. They’d already taken her chose of marrying for love away. They were not going to force her to procreate. “However whatever you want to do I’ll support it.” She told him, she knew being a wife meant standing beside her husband. Returning to her meal she quickly finished, wondering if this was where their night ended or was there any way to save this.
William woke up early the next morning his first inquiry was the well being of Eleanor. His day maid said she’d slept through the night and was still sleeping. He insisted they inform him the moment she woke up. And to prepare breakfast for them as he’d be eating with her. He wanted to supervise her eating. He didn’t like the thought of her skipping meals. He then turned to starting his morning. Bathing in the morning was he’d enjoyed, it was a bright way to start the morning off. Once he was dressed and prepared, a maid slipped into his room. “Sir, Miss is dressing as we speak.” She informed him before exiting. He was rather happy to hear it. A part of him was afraid she’d grown ill and wouldn’t recover. But hearing this glorious news put a bright smile on his face. And he quickly exited his room. Stopping only short of her door before knocking. He knew she could still be dressing but he’d wait here as long as it took. Then they could sit down and eat.

Thomas looked over at her in thought for a few moments, especially as she finished her meal. He'd lost his appetite at the news that his parents would be visiting, but he was glad that she didn't seem scared. After a moment he gave a little nod, folding up the letter before leaning back in his chair with a sigh. "I'm not looking forward to it, but if you don't seem scared of my parents, I shouldn't be scared of them either." He offered her a little smile, thanking the maid who came to take their plates once they were finished, asking her to save the rest of the uneaten food for later, so it wouldn't go to waste. He looked at Clara after a minute, rubbing the back of his neck sheepishly before looking away. "I suppose you'll want to retire for the evening.. plus I'm afraid I'm boring you."
The maid had insisted that Eleanor bathe again, which she was grateful for, as it felt like her fever was being washed away with it. However, at the maids insistence she dress in some fancy silk gown she refused, forcing the maid out of the room so she could dress herself, not wanting anyone's help. She dressed in her simple dress from the day before, even if it was a bit dirty and the fabric was torn in places, but she didn't feel like she deserved to wear the nice gown that the maid had pulled from her wardrobe. She may be sleeping in a room that was fit for a princess, but that didn't mean she was one. When she heard someone knock on her door she headed over and opened it up a crack, relaxing a bit when she saw it was William. "Oh, good morning, William.. Do you think I could go back to the tavern today to get my things? All of my money is there, and the few dresses I have.. Or maybe you could send a guard to collect everything? I suppose I could make due with just the money, and I could just buy some fabric to make a new dress or two.." she asked soflty as she stepped back to let him into her room, rubbing the last of the sleep from her eyes.

Clara smiled softly at the maid as she took their plates. She was about to ask him if he’d wanted to retire to the drawing room, when he spoke she decided against it thinking he must be tired. Letting out a soft chuckle when he said he was boring her. “On the contrary, tonight was pleasant.” She told him, hating that their time was spoiled and the night was coming to an end. They’d spent so much time talking that she hadn’t noticed how late it was. And they would need all the sleep they could get since they’d be dealing with his parents. “Shall I prepare lunch tomorrow or would you like to be in the field?” She asked offering him a smile knowing it would most likely be the last time he get to spend out there till his parents left. She didn’t mind him doing what he loved. Even if that meant she had to meet her in laws by herself.
William smiled when she opened the door, he chuckled to himself as she started firing questions at him. “Good morning, Eleanor.” He greeted her, following her into the room. Listening to what she had to say he knew he couldn’t keep her trapped in the castle. “How about after breakfast we sneak into town.” He said to her. He knew that she’d more than likely want to get her stuff herself and not want someone to touch her belongings. And since she’d agreed to stay with him he was going to do his best to make her stay pleasant. Grabbing the chair he pulled out her chair, before setting himself down across from her. “We’ve got the day to ourselves.” He chuckled, knowing that it wasn’t often he was able to just relax for a day.

Thomas smiled a bit at her as he stood, nodding in agreement when he said that the night had been pleasant, holding his hand out to her to help her up from her seat, although he didn't release it once she was standing, keeping gentle hold of her hand as he gestured toward the door, silently asking her if she'd like to head upstairs. He hummed a little in thought at her question, shaking his head. "I'll be here for lunch. I don't want to risk you having to greet my parents alone. Besides, I'm sure that if we need space from my parents, I can always make some excuse and get out to the fields with you for a few hours to avoid them." He smiled a little, giving her hand a bit of a squeeze.
Eleanor shut the door once he was inside, blinking as she turned to him when he so easily and quickly offered to bring her back to the tavern, tilting her head a little in confusion. "You.. You'd let me leave the castle?" She asked after a moment, taking her seat slowly as she looked over at him in confusion, brows furrowed. She had thought that he'd do everything to keep her here once she'd agreed to stay, not just willingly let her leave, even if he did accompany her. "I thought you'd want me here all the time, that you wouldn't let me leave."

Clara smiled as she took his hand, she allowed him to lead. Not daring to keep him long than he wanted, after all he’d worked hard today. And a goodnight rest would be welcomed. She hoped that the news of his parents visits didn’t keep him awake. She she knew it would her. As much as she wanted to be calm for this, she was nervous about meeting her mother in law. And as much as she did want to meet her nerves were still on edge. “Well then I look forward to it,” she said. Knowing breakfast was a meal they didn’t communicate well through. Both being fresh from bed and anxious to get on with the day. So lunch would be a new added part of the day. She had a million questions she wanted to ask him about his mother and father. But she knew it was best to keep them to herself, as he was finally letting the dreaded new go. She didn’t want to bring it all back up. Feeling him squeeze her hand she turned to look up at him. “I’m sure spending the day in the field is lovely for you.” She said to him. “However this is more suited for flowers.” She teased him, gripping her dress with her free hand and giving it a bit of a wave. Adding to her point that she was a lady and most weren’t in fields. Though she wondered if she’d ever find herself out there spending time with him working. She’d hate to be in his way, or a nuisance.
William looked at her confused. “When I said you were to stay here I didn’t mean you were a prisoner.” He grabbed a pot and poorer himself some coffee. “My intention is to protect you not imprison you.” He took a sip from his drink before shaking his head. “You have an incredibly awful impression of me.” He pointed out. “Leaving the ground is a bit difficult for myself but you are free to come and go as you please, it’s just that I would like someone to accompany you at all time when your not here.” He hoped she understood what he meant. “I know you’ve live on your own for a while and people have treated you poorly, I’d hate to see them do so again. And that’s why I’d like for you to promise me if you do leave the castle you’ll take someone with you. Be it a maid or a guard just someone.” He nodded at her. Hoping that she’d listen to him. He didn’t want her getting hurt or taken advantage of. Yes she was smart in protecting herself prior but if someone see her leave the castle she could be chastised for the wrong reason and be easily targeted. And then his protection would fail and he never wanted to fail in protecting her. Smiling he hoped she understood his true meaning now. And that they weren’t misconstrued in her mind. He wasn’t like most royals or nobles. He did care for his people and their safety. Even if her care for her a bit more.

Thomas chuckled a little as she teased him, watching as she waved the skirt of her dress to prove her point. "I suppose you have a point. But you're more than welcome to come out to the field whenever you want, whether it's to help or learn, or to just sit around reading. If you do want to work, I'm sure I could find an old shirt and pants for you to wear." He teased back, giving her hand a gentle squeeze. Before he knew it they were outside of her room, and he found himself reluctant to release her hand and let her go for the night. Not that he wanted to do anything intimate, but they'd been having such a nice conversation. With a little smile he released her hand after pressing a gentle kiss to her knuckles, stepping back as he gestured to her room. "Well, here you are. If you need anything, I'll be right down the hall, or there should be a maid around for a while longer, so don't hesitate to ask... I'll see you at breakfast?" He asked hopefully, although he figured she might not want to eat with him again so soon.
Eleanor frowned a little as he spoke, sinking lower in her chair as she looked away, feeling guilty and embarrassed for having said anything about it, especially when he scolded her for having a bad impression of him. "Yesterday you said I had to stay in my room unless I was with you... I just assumed that that meant you wouldn't want me leaving the castle.." She explained softly in her defense, frowning a little as she looked over at him. "..I promise I won't leave without bringing anyone with me.... But I don't really know where I'd want to go.. It's not like I have family, or can afford to buy anything nice enough to bring back here.. It's probably pointless for me to go get my dresses from the inn, since most of them are worse than the dresses the maids wear here.." She sighed, sinking even lower in her chair, suddenly feeling very self conscious about being in such a nice room, having breakfast with a prince, when she was dressed like a beggar. "We can just stay here today, especially if it's your day off. I don't mind staying here, so you can go do what you want to."

A soft pout formed on her lips when he mentioned her joining him out in the fields. She'd never thought of ever being welcomed. As a child any time she was interested in man's work her father always acted like she was an annoyance. She chose to ignore the thoughts, before smiling at him. "I might have to take you up on that someday." She told him, knowing that she'd go stir crazy in the house after a while. But she didn't know if she'd ever actually be confident enough to take him up on the offer. She wasn't shocked when he kissed her hand, in fact her smile only brighten. Thankful they weren't avoiding each other and hating their marriage. "Breakfast." She told him, before turning and walking into her room. "Goodnight." She told him before shutting the door behind her, offering him a smile. She sighed before moving to get ready for bed. In all honestly she wasn't looking forward to meeting her in laws. She a terrified of what they would say or try. She slipped into her bed, knowing that she would need all the energy she could get.
William froze when he heard her rebuttal. "Well I apologize for not being clearer." He informed her. "I just didn't want you wondering around the castle, alone." He told her, "not until you know where you are allowed." He explained better. He started to eat he food, frowning when she stated that they could just stay here today. "I want to take you into town." He told her, knowing that they'd have to sneak out. But once they were out he'd like to just be free and enjoy his time away from this place. Granted now that she was here it would take his mind off his own imprisonment here. And he wouldn't ever want to wish it on anyone. "You don't want to go with me?" He asked, hoping that she'd changed her mind in wanting to go into town with him.

Thomas smiled as he noticed her brighten up at his kiss to her hand, nodding a little when she said she'd meet him at breakfast, giving a little wave as he stepped back. "Goodnight. Sweet dreams." He said before heading down the hall to his room, shutting the door to his room before changing out of his nice clothes and into his sleep clothes before climbing into bed, falling asleep shortly after, tired from a long day of work, and not looking forward to his parents arriving tomorrow. He ended up waking up at dawn as usual, although instead of heading out to the fields he paced anxiously down his room and then down the hall toward his study, running his fingers through his hair in frustration, his anxiety about seeing his parents getting the best of him.
Eleanor nodded a little at his explanation, picking at a bit of food on her plate, unsure if she was really hungry or not. "I won't wander around, William. I'm fine staying in my room." She reassured him with a small smile, nibbling on a bit of apple. She looked up at him again when he said he wanted to take her into town, a bit surprised. "To do what? I'm sure you don't want to see the corners and alleys I used to have to sleep in. And I don't really want to go back to the inn, even to get my few things.. Wouldn't you enjoy yourself more without me?" She asked softly, wondering what he'd say. She was still a bit nervous about trusting him completely, especially after he'd kissed her yesterday, even if the kiss had made her heart practically stop. But he was a prince, and she was no one, so there was no possible future for them, even if she wanted there to be, so why consider it? "Who knows, you could go out and run into some princess or duchess or lady, and fall madly in love and live happily ever after with her. I'd hate to keep you from finding that."

There was a light tapping on the door, and Clara groaned before rolling over. "Come in." She called out knowing very well it was her nurse maid, coming to wake her up and help her prepare for the day. "Mrs.," was all the woman said as a greeting before she went forward to do her work. Clara pulled herself out of bed before heading into her closet to dress. "Thank you." She said to the young woman as she helped her lace up her corset. She never really felt the need to wear one as she was always so tiny anyways. But since her in laws were coming she felt the need to wear something that showed she was not only expecting company but that she was the lady of the house. Once her dress was laced, she let out a sigh and then pulled on her shoes. "Is the Master awake?" She asked, knowing that they were suppose to eat breakfast together. She just hoped she hadn't missed it, and he'd eaten with out her. "He's in his study ma'am." She informed her before offering her a curtsy and then taking her leave. Nodding to herself she decided to great him in hopes she'd not missed being able to dine with him. As she approached the door she did her best to calm her nerves. Gently knocking on the door, she braced herself for it to be opened.
William frowned hearing her try and talk her way out of spending time with him. "I'm not interested in meeting anyone, I was actually looking forward to spending time getting to know you." He informed her, knowing that he'd been rather rash in his kissing her. But he couldn't stand it any longer and had to taste her lips. However he tried to keep himself at a distance, so he wouldn't make her feel uncomfortable. After all he hadn't brought her here for any reason but to help her. But he couldn't help how he felt, her quick wit, challenging him. He felt himself falling more for her by the minute he just didn't know what entirely he'd call it. "I feel like we've taken a few steps back." He told her wiping his mouth. "If you don't want to spend time with me, please tell me and I'll understand." He said. Hating that he can't just be himself with her. It's like they constantly have to dance around each other. Where she feels the need to make him out to be a prince, and he's got to constantly protect her. Instead of allowing themselves a chance to talk and get to know each other better, they were just stepping on each other's toes. "You know one of the biggest reason why I'd enjoy your company, was you never cared that I was a prince, you told me thing the way that you see them. But as of late you treat me like I'm someone else, I just want us to be able to be ourselves with each other. And if getting away from the castle helps with that then I want to at least try." He told her. Hoping that she would want to spend time with him. "That is if you want to spend time with me?"

While Clara was dressing Thomas was pacing around his study in his pajamas and dressing gown, too caught up in his anxiety to realize that he'd been pacing and wasting time for almost an hour, and that it was now time for breakfast. He looked up in surprise when he heard the knock at the door, wondering who it could be, as the servants generally didn't bother him unless there was an emergency. Heading to the door he opened it, blinking in surprise when he saw Clara, dressed and ready for the day. "Clara..? Is everything alright?" He asked before having enough sense to look at the time, quickly realizing that it was half an hour past the time they'd agreed to eat breakfast. He felt like a fool for forgetting, and hoped she wasn't angry with him. "I'm sorry if I've missed breakfast. I hope you went ahead and ate without me, I'd hate to have made you wait... You look lovely, by the way.." He rambled, his anxiety obvious. He dreaded having his parents arrive today, and was terrified of how they might ruin what little relationship he and Clara had.
Eleanor frowned as he spoke, unable to help the blush that crept up her cheeks. She sat in silence for a while, thinking over everything that he was saying, trying to figure out what to say in return. She wanted to spend more time with him, yes, and she wanted to treat him like any other person, but if someone caught her talking to the prince the way she had in the street? She'd surely be killed... And she had a feeling that she wasn't exactly supposed to be here in the first place, so she didn't want to draw anymore attention to herself. "I.. I want to spend time with you, William.. I do... And I know that you feel.. something toward me, but I don't know how I feel about you, and I'm afraid that if I don't figure out how I'm really feeling, I'll just end up agreeing to whatever you ask of me, because I don't want to disappoint you, or be disrespectful after you've helped me so much..." Her cheeks had flushed even redder while she spoke, and she sunk a little lower in her seat out of embarrassment. "It's just... It's a lot to take in at once.. And I want to spend time with you, I do, really, but... but I'm scared."

Clara smiled at the disheveled man before her, she could tell he wasn't handling the new of his parents arrival very well. "Thank you." She told him, taking pride in the fact she had dressed for this occasion. "I have not." She told him, offering him a shy smile. "I over slept." She chuckled lightly. "Actually I was here to see if you wanted to join me for breakfast?" She questioned him, knowing from the staff he'd not eaten. And judging by the way he was dress he'd been up for a while and stressing. She didn't like to see him like this, it was almost like he was an entirely different man. Reaching forward she gently brushed the stubble on his cheek. Smiling at how different it felt. "Are you okay?" She asked him, knowing that she was very concerned but at the same time she was amused. This man before her was uncertain and disheveled unlike anything she'd seen before. And in all honesty she liked this part of him. It made her feel like she wasn't the only one who had issue. "You should keep it," she spoke about his stubble. It made him seem more mature and manly. Not that he wasn't before, however this suited him more.
William stood and move to her, placing himself down in front of her. Gripping her hands he peered up at her. "Scared of what?" He asked her. Gently stroking her hands. "I will do my best to help you in any way I can." He said quickly. "I don't want you to be with me because you feel obligated to do so." He smiled, "as I said before I like you the way you are, and I don't want you changing into someone just for the sake of a prince." He told her. "I want you to learn how to be a proper lady, so you can enjoy the riches I have to offer, not because I feel the need to change you." He told her. "And I know this is all new and scary but that's why I want to get out of the castle and way from it to let us just live in the moment and enjoy each other's company." He told her, hoping that she would change her mindset on the outing at least. He didn't want to silence her fear in fact he wanted her to keep it, so she knew what was right and wrong here in the castle. Because he could keep her safe if she knew what to be scared of. Not that he wanted her to be scared of him. He'd do his best to make her feel comfortable around him.

Thomas nodded a little as she explained that she hadn't eaten yet, and that she wanted him to join her for breakfast still, leaning his head into her hand as she reached up to caress his cheek, closing his eyes for a moment. The simple gesture calmed him greatly, some of his anxiety about his parents' coming melting away. "I'm glad you got to sleep in.. I'm sure you can tell, but I didn't get much sleep." He pointed out, the stubble and his disheveled hair clear indicators of that. He opened his eyes again when she told him to keep the stubble, a faint smile spreading across his lips. "You like it? My mother hates it, absolutely can't stand it... More the reason to keep it." He let out a little laugh, reaching his hands out to rest on her sides, smoothing out the fabric of her dress.
Eleanor watched as William moved to kneel in front of her, giving his hands a little squeeze as he took hers, staring down at their joined hands in thought for a long while while she listened to him. "But.. But what if I can't become a proper lady? What if I'm only meant to be a peasant?" She frowned as she looked at him, fingers brushing over the back of his hand absently. "I.. I want to be your friend, I really do.. But sometimes it feels like I don't have a choice when you offer things.. It feels like if I say no, you'll throw me back out on the streets, or give me back to the innkeeper.." She frowned as she met his eyes finally, squeezing his hands nervously. "I don't want to disrespect your kindness.."

Clara let out a soft chuckle,"I do like it." She told him, thinking it suit him better, and it made her wonder if he shaved just for her and their wedding. It warmed her heart that he was doing everything in his power to make her feel comfortable. She tensed a bit when she felt his hands on her body, though it quickly vanished as she watched him. He really was something else, and though she didn't truly know him she felt like they could truly be happy with one another. "You must be tired, maybe you'd like to try and nap before they get here?" She offered, knowing that he'd more than likely not be able to let go of his anxiety. But if she could help him in any way she would. He'd be so kind to her and she wouldn't pass up a chance to show him the same kindness. "But first lets get you fed." She told him, her hands moving to his arms so she could fall into step beside him as they trailed down to the dinning room. She could feel the tensions in his body as he wasn't looking forward to his parents visit.
William couldn't help but let a smile pull on his lips. "I never expected you to become a proper lady. I want you to be you, just with some education. Because even peasants as you say have an education, not as extensive as mine, but I want to give you the things you should have gotten when you were growing up." He told her knowing that she would have gained this experiences from her mother or father. However he could only assume they weren't proper enough to give it to her or they had passed before they could start. And even though he wanted to asked questions pertaining to her family, he knew it might be to early in their friendship or whatever it was to bombard her with questions. "And you will never have to fear that." He told her his tone shifting to anger. "That man will never bother you ever again, and I wouldn't dream of throwing you away like trash." He knew he couldn't promise her she'd always live here. Because his father could send her away and he'd have no say in the matter. However if he kept her hidden from the man they wouldn't have to worry about it. But he would hope he could let her leave here with an education that would allow her to live a prosperous life. Though he couldn't think of that now as he didn't want her to ever leave. "It's not disrespect if you have different views than I do. However I just don't want you to settle for being a maid or a bar keep. I want you to at least try to become something more. Even if you fail at least you tried and know that you can't do it."
