Jazzy walked up the sidewalk towards Frank's apartment. Her little sedan was parked on the curb, locked up tightly because it housed most of her things. She was moving back into her dorm on campus today, but she was making a brief stop to visit her boyfriend. It was his birthday and she had a little gift for him in her bag. She took the stairs two at a time up to the second floor of the building, before walking down the hall until she reached Apartment 12B.

She quickly knocked before unlocking the door with the key had given her not long ago. She stepped in the dimly light, pretty bare apartment before shutting and locking the door back. The smell of stiff alcohol filled the room and she wondered if it was from the prior night, or if Frank had started early. Jazzy headed to the back, where his bedroom was; she was sure he was still asleep, he usually worked late at his job. "Babe?" She whispered, peaking her head into his pitch black bedroom. Creeping inside, she dropped her backpack to the floor next to his dresser and tiptoed over to his bed.

Jazzy felt like she had to walk on eggshells around him ever since the last weekend she had spent the night. He had had to much to drink and in an alcoholic rage he had hit her around a bit and forced himself upon her afterwards. The next morning he had apologized countless times, but she felt doubtful, like she couldn't believe him.

Slipping her shoes off, she put a knee up on his bed and began to crawl in next to him.
Gerard leaned against the back door of his apartment, peering outside at the sky as he took a long drag off of the cigarette he held between his lips. He had been up for almost 34 hours, aggressively trying to work on a comic that he just couldn't quite get right, and by now his vision was blurry from all the drinks he had indulged in. Dark purple circles created rings under under his blood shot eyes. He turned around as he felt his phone vibrating in his jacket pocket.

He moved over to the kitchen table and picked up a half smoked blunt and lit it before pulling the phone from his pocket. Aislinn. He hit the answer button on his phone and put it to his ear, "Babe." He greeted her, before taking a deep hit from the blunt. "Are you on your way over? You know we have to do something later for Frank's birthday." His voice was raspy and dry, and he could only hope that between sometime and now he could find the time for a nap before going out.

Gerard loved his girlfriend, but lately their relationship had become slightly strained. Gerard barely had a job, he worked maybe part time at gas station that was so shady it paid him under the table. But he didn't care, because he only worked nights and that gave him plenty more time to work on his true passion; his art. And that's what strained their relationship. He was so focused on trying to make it a comic artist, that he could barely pay his bills.

"Hey, baby," Frank's voice was groggy. He'd been up late last night, simply for the fact that he couldn't sleep. He couldn't even sleep anymore, and it was wearing on him. He put his arm around Jazzy, pulling her close to him so that her back was up against his bare chest.

After last week, Frank had tried hard to be the perfect boyfriend, honestly feeling bad about hitting her and some of the name he'd called her. He didn't really remember much after that, but he could see that Jazzy seemed scared whenever she was around him. However, the perfect boyfriend facade was beginning to fade once again, like it usually did. As he drank last night instead of even trying to go to sleep, he texted some of his side lays, exchanging pictures of his dick for their nudes. This wasn't new, he'd been doing it behind Jazzy's back since damn near the beginning of their relationship. He only stopped when he'd fucked up bad, but that was only temporary.

"What are you doing here so early?" he asked, looking over her head, seeing his alarm clock display 11 A.M.. "Oh," he muttered, letting his head fall back down onto the pillow, "Nevermind." Thank god he didn't have work today, because he without a doubt would have missed it.

He wanted to quit that place anyways. There was nothing appealing to him about being a greasy cook at some shitty ass restaurant. It didn't even pay that well, and he didn't even like to cook.
"I don't know if that's the best idea," Aislinn didn't know how to let Gerard down, "You go out and do something with him. Jaqueline really needs my help with Owen," she lied, using her sister and nephew as a scapegoat. She'd have to call Jackie, and ask to back her up, scared that Gerard would decide to call her and see if that was even true. Lately, every time she'd seen Gerard, they always got into a fight. He seemed to be convinced that it had something to do with work; he wanted to be a comic book artist, and Aislinn had been all for him doing what made him happy.

It was they lying, the drinking, and the heavy drug use that bothered her. She couldn't remember the last time she had seen Gerard sober, but constantly thought about how he use to be. Sweet, charming, and always present. That was the Gee she fell in love with, but she didn't know where he had gone. For all she knew, he was dead and she was waiting around for a change that would never happen.

Jazzy hated that she had been correct, but she figured he would be hungover, so she reached down into the bag she brought with her and pulled out a greasy breakfast from Waffle House. "This will help you." She chuckled, and sat it on his nightstand. "Happy birthday, baby. I know we're going out tonight for your birthday, but I just wanted to stop by this morning before moving into my dorm." She ran her hand through his black hair, twirling it around her fingers, while chewing on the inside of her lip.

She loved him so much, but she couldn't get over the constant feeling of nervousness she now had around him. Not only that, but she was also nervous to move back onto campus. Last year, her and Frank had almost broken up because he hated cheated on her with her then roommate. So she was dreading walking into her new dorm and seeing a girl that rivaled her in looks. She knew it was superficial, but not only had he physically abused her, but long before had he already instilled an insecurity in herself through mental abuse.
Gerard let out a deep sigh, scrunching his eyebrows together. "Are you serious? Another excuse to not go out again? And on my best friend's birthday?" He rolled his eyes and just ran a hand through his greasy black hair and flicked his cigarette out into the back yard, before walking back into the kitchen. He opened his can of coffee and put a pot on, needing a jolt of energy to bring himself alive. "Whatever, then why are you calling now?"

His hair fell back down into his face and he wondered if he should make himself shower now. Either way, he was opening the freezer and pulling out his trusty bottle of bourbon, and poured himself a shot.

That's right, it was his birthday. He'd almost forgotten. Frank listened to Jazzy, but didn't reply back. He tried hiding the fact that he had a killer headache, but had a feeling she could see right through him. Keeping his eyes closed, he waited for Jazzy to give up on trying to talk to him and leave, not opening his eyes until he could hear the front door close. He peeked at the bag she'd left on his nightstand, seeing it was from Waffle House. Greasy food usually made him feel better, but the thought of eating still made him extremely nauseous. Rolling over so that he couldn't smell it as much, he decided to try and get some more sleep.

The idea of more shots tonight made him feel better, though. Gerard would be there, trying to out drink him most likely, or already drunk enough that he'd pass out wherever they went. He wondered if Ash would be coming with him, or if she was too fed up with him.
"I called to tell you I'm not coming, Gerard," Aislinn said sternly, "I can tell you're already fucking wasted. Frank will probably be too hungover to act like a human being. Jazzy never talks to me anymore. So yes, I'm serious, and no, I'm not going. Have fun," she hung up and rolled her eyes, completely over his holier than thou attitude.

Looking around her apartment, she decided to spend her day off work cleaning the place up. The last time Gerard was over, he was plastered, and completely trashed the place before throwing her around. She wondered if he had even remembered that, or if was locked away in his big dumb brain.

Jazzy wasn’t so hard headed that she couldn’t take the hint. Frank didn’t want her there, all he wanted was to go back to sleep. She left his food by the door, and left his room, heading to the kitchen where she pulled his present out from her backpack. It was neatly wrapped, and she left it on the center of the table. She wanted him to open it when he was somewhat sober, so whenever he woke up would be the best time.

She knew if she gave it to him that might when they all went out, he’d be to stoned or drunk to appreciate it. It was a knew portable amp for his guitars since he had blown the last one out in a drunken stupor.

Leaving his house, Jazzy got back in her car and headed for her new dorm.
Gerard had already been annoyed and now he was pissed off, wondering why she was being such a bitch. She never wanted to have fun anymore and it was pretty shitty to bail on your boyfriends bestfriends birthday.

    In his head anyway.

He slammed his phone down on the table and just went back to his bedroom, but not before grabbing a bottle of bourbon from the freezer. He slammed his door and sat back down at his desk, beginning to work and drink furiously.

When Frank was sure that Jazzy had left, he climbed out of bed, grabbing the bag of food on the way. He shuffled into the kitchen, leaving all of the lights off on the way. Leaving his apartment relatively dark had helped contain his splitting headache. He sat at the counter in his kitchen and reached into the bag, pulling out all of it's contents, and wasted no time scarfing it down. Afterwards, he grabbed a beer from the fridge to wash it all down, and hopefully help take some of the edge of the headache off.

As he walked back to the counter, he saw something shiny sitting on his unused table in the dining room, which was really just an extension of the small kitchen. It was obvious that Jazzy had left it when she'd came, the wrapping paper neatly encasing the gift she got him. He couldn't help but smile; even though he was a fucking mess, she always went out of her way to try and make him happy. Deep down, he knew he didn't deserve her, but he loved her so much that he became content with letter her put up with his shit.
Aislinn wiped away the lone tear that had escaped from her cheek, not wanting to let herself cry over her asshole boyfriend. She dialed up her sister next, letting her know what was up. She'd have to go over there, just in case Gerard wanted to make sure she wasn't lying. Honestly, she was scared of what he might do if he tried to check up on her and found out she'd been lying.

"I don't see why you're still with him," she said, always looking out for my best interest.

"I...I love him Jacky," I pulled at my lip as I spoke into the phone, "That's that. I'll be on my way soon."
