Jazzy walked up the sidewalk towards Frank's apartment. Her little sedan was parked on the curb, locked up tightly because it housed most of her things. She was moving back into her dorm on campus today, but she was making a brief stop to visit her boyfriend. It was his birthday and she had a little gift for him in her bag. She took the stairs two at a time up to the second floor of the building, before walking down the hall until she reached Apartment 12B.
She quickly knocked before unlocking the door with the key had given her not long ago. She stepped in the dimly light, pretty bare apartment before shutting and locking the door back. The smell of stiff alcohol filled the room and she wondered if it was from the prior night, or if Frank had started early. Jazzy headed to the back, where his bedroom was; she was sure he was still asleep, he usually worked late at his job. "Babe?" She whispered, peaking her head into his pitch black bedroom. Creeping inside, she dropped her backpack to the floor next to his dresser and tiptoed over to his bed.
Jazzy felt like she had to walk on eggshells around him ever since the last weekend she had spent the night. He had had to much to drink and in an alcoholic rage he had hit her around a bit and forced himself upon her afterwards. The next morning he had apologized countless times, but she felt doubtful, like she couldn't believe him.
Slipping her shoes off, she put a knee up on his bed and began to crawl in next to him.
Gerard leaned against the back door of his apartment, peering outside at the sky as he took a long drag off of the cigarette he held between his lips. He had been up for almost 34 hours, aggressively trying to work on a comic that he just couldn't quite get right, and by now his vision was blurry from all the drinks he had indulged in. Dark purple circles created rings under under his blood shot eyes. He turned around as he felt his phone vibrating in his jacket pocket.
He moved over to the kitchen table and picked up a half smoked blunt and lit it before pulling the phone from his pocket. Aislinn. He hit the answer button on his phone and put it to his ear, "Babe." He greeted her, before taking a deep hit from the blunt. "Are you on your way over? You know we have to do something later for Frank's birthday." His voice was raspy and dry, and he could only hope that between sometime and now he could find the time for a nap before going out.
Gerard loved his girlfriend, but lately their relationship had become slightly strained. Gerard barely had a job, he worked maybe part time at gas station that was so shady it paid him under the table. But he didn't care, because he only worked nights and that gave him plenty more time to work on his true passion; his art. And that's what strained their relationship. He was so focused on trying to make it a comic artist, that he could barely pay his bills.
