Howl ||Closed RP||

Rosalyn walked out onto her back porch and looked up to the sky. It was a full moon, and she was in awe of it. She had always loved the night and a full moon. The sky was clear and beautiful. She moved to the edge of her back yard where it met the forest. She loved living in the forest and was glad that she could finally have a dream home with her best friend. She got to watch the critters going about their life from her porch. To her it was more entertaining than TV. She wondered lightly if her roommate was ever going to get home from work.



Ricky looked over at his alpha, Chris. He seemed edgy sense this morning. He was edgy as well, and it was just the full moon tonight. Something that they all went through their whole lives. Something was in the air that had him on edge. "Can you feel it too?" Ricky asked. The whole pack was about to shift and go on their pack run. He looked back at Devon who was pumped, and Balz was on his phone, most likely talking to his mate.

To be honest, Ricky kind of envied Balz for that. He wanted a mate and dreamed of the night that he would finally get to meet her. He wanted to know what it was like to have a mate waiting for you to come home from a pack run and what it was like to have a mate to run with while in wolf form.

Keelan drove down the empty road, which was situated between dense forest on either side. The only source of light besides the lights of her Subaru headlights was the full moon above her, which barely reflected off of the wet pavement. Today had been pretty rainy, but the night had been cool and dry. She'd been listening to H.I.M's Razorblade Romance on the way home, not paying too much attention to the road, since she was the only one on it.

Out of nowhere, she heard a loud pop, and her car started moving strangely before she pulled off to the side, and got out. Using her phone's flashlight, she inspected the outside of her car to see one of her rear wheels had blown out. "Fuck," she sighed, remembering that she had lent her car jack to Ros. She got back into her car, keeping it on, and called her roommate.

"Yes, Ricky," Chris said to his right hand, "We're wolves too." He usually joked around; that was just his personality, but on full moons he got especially sarcastic and sometimes a little bit of an asshole. As Alpha, he felt the weight of his responsibility, and sometimes it could be pretty stressful. Going home to an empty apartment after runs didn't help much, either. He saw Ricky looking at Balz, probably talking to Ryan, and could feel the envy Ricky felt; Chris had felt it, too.

"Are you guys ready?" Chris asked, not excited about the pain that came with morphing.

Rosalyn felt her phone vibrate in her pocket. She answered once she saw the name of the caller. "Hey," she said in the phone and listened to her friend. She went into the house and grabbed her keys and made sure that she had the car jack and went to help her friend. She carefully drove her Challenger down the roads and pulled up along side her friend. "Got it, Keelan," Ros announced proudly. She looked around her, trying to get a feel of her surroundings.



Ricky nodded at his Alpha. He didn't mind Chris's behavior. They were all acting up. He hated feeling the pain of shifting, but he was used to it by now. It was just something that he had to grit his teeth to and bare through it. He watched as Chris shifted first, and Ricky soon followed suit. He took off running with Chris. They ran through the trees until they caught a scent. Ricky glanced over at Chris and wondered what he was going to do.

Keelan got out of the car once Ros arrived, thankful she'd been able to get there so quickly. "This place gives me the fucking heebie jeebies," she said, opening her trunk to get the spare tire out. She had always loved the woods, especially at night, but for some reason she felt more creeped out every minute she spent there.

Clouds moved under the moon, leaving the two girls in pitch black until it passed. Keelan froze as she listened to the forest that surrounded them, and then jumped once she realized Ros had moved by her side. Roslyn had moved so quietly that it startled her. The cloud passed, giving her light once again, and she started jacking up her car to take the tire off. It had still been pretty quiet, letting her hear the rustling of branches and leaves in the thick vegetation around them.

Until she realized there was no breeze.

Chris caught a human scent, probably coming from the road running through the forest. As he ran, he caught a glimpse of two cars pulled over to the side of the road through the tree trunks, but not of the humans. Still, he could smell them. After some distance, he quickly led his pack across the road and circled back around. Werewolves could be pretty bloodthirsty animals, but his pack had always preferred other animals. For some reason, there weren't any other animals out, so the smell of human flesh started driving his hound form crazy.

He stopped running, and crouched up to the edge of the treeline to see two hunched over figures, changing the tire on one of the cars. He growled a little bit before lunging forward, causing the two startled girls turn around and back up against the car, eyes wide with fear. Looking into one of their icy blue eyes, all ill intentions had completely escaped him, and he let out a small whimper as he rubbed the fur on his head against her arm.

Rosalyn looked at the wolf who had been about to attack now rubbing against her. She was frozen in her spot in shock. She was pressed up against the car with the wolf right there against her. She looked over at Keenan who was staring in shock as well. Ros’s heart was still going ninety miles in her chest. As she tried to calm herself, she took a step away from the wolf who just followed after her whimpering. She felt her legs go wobbly, and she sat down before she fell over figuring the wolf could hurt her if she was still standing if it changed its mind. The wolf now stood over her, but it didn’t appear to be threatening her.

“Keelan, you okay?” Ros asked, her voice shaky. She had known that wolves were in the area, but all the locals said that they stayed away and avoided people and the roads as much as possible and never got this close to humans. Yet here was one of the biggest wolves she had ever seen in her life. She looked at the wolf and met its eyes.



Ricky had followed after Chris going for the second. Only changing his intentions when his eyes met the blue eyes of the girl. He stopped running at her and inched his way up to her. He lowered his head and rubbed up against her. He couldn’t help the whimper that came out of him. This was his mate. The one person that he wanted to find for the longest time. He had almost attacked her, and that was the last thing that he would ever consider doing.

He noticed the rest of the pack coming closer. It was an unspoken rule: the pack doesn’t hurt someone’s mate. It was jusf the way of things. And he didn’t want them to get too close just in case. He got closer to the girl and glared at his pack.

"Um. Okay," Keelan said, slowly reaching down to pet the wolf. "This is strange," she said to Ros, now getting down on her knees to rub the wolf's ears. His mouth opened, and his tongue rolled out as if he had been smiling. A couple seconds later, she started laughing. The moon seemed to intensify, and she could see the wolf much better. Besides the large size, he looked like any regular wolf.

Except the eyes.

The eyes looked almost human, and kind of freaked her out. "Rosalyn, look at that wolf's eyes? What do they look like?"

Chris had made sure the rest of the pack backed off, and they continued to wait in the treeline, probably not too sure what to do. He knew this woman was his mate, that he would spend the rest of his life trying to protect her. He wished she would look into his eyes, and feel the same thing. Sadly, to her, he was nothing more than a wolf.

He continued to rub his head against her thigh, trying to coax her into petting him. Balz had told them that the first time Ryan, his mate, had touched him, it was electric. He yearned for that feeling, somehow knowing that if she just pet him, they'd feel those sparks.

Rosalyn nervously reached out a ran her fingers through his thick fur. She felt energy running up her arm. When she finally realized that he wasn't going to hurt her, she petted him more and looked at his eyes and saw that they were more human than wolf. "They have human eyes," Ros replied. She ran her fingers through his fur and leaned into him slightly without realizing. Ros tried to get a read on the wolf, and he appeared to smiling. She smiled slightly surprised that he was gentle.

"I wonder why?" Rosalyn wondered aloud. She couldn't try to figure out why the didn't seem like wolves, but they looked just like wolves. Her fingers dug deeper into his fur and was still feeling a bit of the sparks that she first felt. "I wonder why thee two are so willing to come up to us." When the moon brightened up, she got a better look at the wolf. Rosalyn smiled even more widely.



Ricky was in heaven with her hands in his fur. He loved the feel. He had never imagined him getting petted in his wolf form, but he wasn't complaining by any means. He glanced at Chris who was in awe of his own girl. He knew that she wouldn't know that they were mates, and he knew that he would have to get her to fall for him, but he wanted her to feel something just for touching him.

He whimpered again and leaned closer to her. He could hear his mate talking to the other girl. He watched her and checking the edge of the forest. He knew that he would always protect her, and he wouldn't allow anything come close to harming her.

"Is it just me, or does petting them make you feel something? It's really weird," she said, still petting the wolf. He had wondered how he would react if she pet his belly, but didn't want to chance it. "They're so cute, I wish we could just take them home," Keelan knew that soon, she'd have to finish changing her tire, and they'd have to leave.

"I should probably finish this up," sighing, she pet the wolf one last time and returned her attention back to the tire, which she was almost finished changing out. The wolf sat next to her the entire time, almost as if pulling guard. "All done," she told Rosalyn as she stood up, stretching her sore legs. "I hope I'll get to see you again, Mister," she leaned over and pet the wolf some more. She got back into her car, and pulled away to finally get home for the night.

Chris would have to figure out a way to find the girl in his human form, to have her meet him, and have the same connection they had just now as she pet him. It was obvious they were friends, so as long as one of the pairs met, then they would be good. He whimpered as he watched the taillights of their cars disappear down the road, and huddled back up with his pack.

They still needed to find food.

He began running again, knowing that the rest of the wolves would follow. Eventually, his mate's scent disappeared, allowing him to sniff out other critters in the woods.

Rosalyn had petted the wolf one last time, hoping to see him again. She got in her car and followed after her friend back to their house. She parked in her normal spot. She looked over at Keelan as she got out of her car. She was still trying to wrap her mind around the wolves that they had seen. She let out a yawn, and she just remembered how late it was.

"That was something," she said, not knowing what else to say about them. She looked at her roommate, trying to see what was going through her head. "They seemed so tame. Though I don't think that they were."



Ricky followed after his Alpha. He found it hard leaving his mate even though he knew they couldn't stay at the side of the road for the whole night. It was just he didn't know how he was going to find her as humans. He worried that once they met, she wouldn't want him like he wanted her. He knew that he was overthinking it, but he couldn't help it some times. He was just thankful that she was friends with Chris's mate. If one found their mate, then the other found theirs.

It wasn't long before they found an animal to hunt down. They all went after the deer as a pack like they always did. He felt like the night was going the smoothly for the first time in a long time.

"I have to say that so far I'm really liking Pennsylvania," she said, gathering her things from the backseat and heading inside.

The two friends had just moved to the outskirts of Scranton for different reasons. For Keelan, it was work. Back home in Maryland, she helped run a non-profit animal rescue while working as a Paramedic. After hearing that Scranton needed one, she spent countless hours working for donations and grants to stand up the rescue, and it had finally come together. Even better, her best friend decided to come stay with her.

"I hate orientation week," she groaned, plopping down on the couch. A local emergency services company had been happy to take her, but before getting out in a rig, she had to have a week of orientation, learning about the company and etc.

As werewolves, their minds weren't as comprehensive as when they were human. They didn't really understand what humans were saying, they didn't think too in depth. Just a few things stayed on their minds; food, run, mate. Chris couldn't get his mate out of his mind and found it extremely difficult to concentrate on anything else.

So far, the pack had no issues tonight. He should be having fun, but he'd already wanted to go home and wait for the sun to come up so he could morph back. For the first time since taking over as alpha, he'd been extremely lost on what to do, or how to lead the pack. He looked at Ricky, who'd always offered sound advice to him.

Rosalyn smiled. She had come down here with her friend for the trees and for a change of scenery. She had enrolled at a local college wanting to work with animals in the future and got a job at the veterinarian clinic in town where she starts in a couple days. “I’m dreading my own orientation,” she stated. “But I got to do it. And you can get through. The sooner it’s done, the sooner you can get onto what you actually want to do.”

Ros stepped into the house smiling. She was loving it here, and she couldn’t help but smile every time she saw the house. She was out of her parents home and trying to make something of herself. “I just hope it’s not too rough on you,” she said, worrying that this was going to be a lot. They barely knew anyone here, granted they had only been here a few days so far. Ros missed having someone to go out to town with when Keelan was busy or just having the somewhat decent social group.



Ricky saw Chris glance at him. Ricky stepped up close, understanding what he is going through. He didn’t want to be away from his mate either. He nudged Chris into trying to hunt. He was going to be needing her. That’s how it was for werewolves sometimes when they first found their mates. Not waiting to do anything but look for them and be around them at all times. He was feeling like that, but he had to hold it in for the moment.

Ricky smelled a deer and took of in that direction in the hopes Chris would take the hint and do what they needed from him for the moment and in the morning Chris and he would try their best to find the girls. They just had to get through the rest of the night.

Keelan kicked off her shoes, revealing just how sore her feet were. "I'll manage. I just need to find a couple of people to help me run the shelter so I'm not up to my neck in work." It had been pretty hard finding volunteers for something that was so time-consuming. To her, it had been completely worth it, but to others, not so much. She wouldn't ask Rosalyn, because she'd already be juggling work and school.

"I don't feel like cooking. How about we just order some pizza," she suggested, the thought of melted cheese putting her in a dreamlike state. "I'll order as long as you don't try to talk me out of it."

Chris picked up the scent at the same time as Ricky. Chasing after it had been instinct, and suddenly he got a break from thinking about his mate. The obsessive wondering about her would pick up again, soon enough. Until then, they chased down the two deer that had been trying to hide from them, but the six wolves pounced, beginning to rip the animal to shreds.

Human Chris always thought it was funny that they did this, because in their human form, the thought of ripping a deer apart with their teeth and eating it raw disgusted all of them. As a matter of fact, Devin was a vegetarian.

Rosalyn nodded. “You think I’m going to stop you from getting my favorite food?” she asked curiously. She went over and kicked her shoes off and plopped down on the couch. She curled her feet under her and glanced outside the back sliding glass window. She didn’t know what she was going to see or what was she was expecting to see. She felt bad that she couldn’t help Keelan with the shelter, but she was already split in two ways at the moment and didn’t have much time for something else like that.

“So what are your plans for tomorrow?” Ros asked curiously. She had all her classes in the afternoon, so she had the morning free. She didn’t know if she was going to plan to do anything or just sleep in.



Ricky had let his wolf do as it pleases when it came to eating raw animal. He wasn’t going to get sick from it, and it was easier to go along with it than fight it’s nature. Chewing on the meat gave his mind something else to focus on other than his mate. He would be thinking about her every other second of the day when he was human and when he was a wolf.

He looked over at Chris to see how he was holding up. He was happy that he met his mate, now he had to get his mate to fall in love with him just like Chris is going to have to do. Ricky swallowed down the meat and stood back. There wasn’t much left on the deer now that they had been chewing on it for so long.

"It should be here in about 45 minutes," Keelan told Rosalyn, "I'm going to take a nice warm bubble bath. I left the money and tip on the counter," She retreated to her room, where she started drawing a hot bath, and started washing off her makeup from the day. She put her hair up into a high messy bun so it wouldn't get wet, and she wouldn't have to deal with styling it all over again tomorrow.

Once the water was filled up to the brim, she stepped in, feeling the grainy bath salts underneath her feet. Closing her eyes, she sunk deep into the water and tried to let her body relax. Without music, she didn't have a sense of how long she'd been sitting in the bath and was surprised when she heard the doorbell ring. Had it already been that long? She pulled the plug for the drain and got out to dry off and get dressed.

Once the Deer was only a carcass, Chris began running again. He didn't catch any specific scent, he'd just had a lot of energy he needed to work off. He began running north, maybe they could get to the border between Pennsylvania and New York and back before the moon fell. That would be a good enough excuse to sleep in all day tomorrow, not that he'd really need one anyways.

He thought of how he'd find his mate. What would he say to her? Hey, remember that absolutely good looking wolf you saw that night? Well, hi! How are you? Maybe he'd leave the wolf part out...

Rosalyn watched TV a bit. She wasn't really paying attention when there was a knock on the phone. She got up and checked to see who it was. She smiled seeing that it was the pizza guy. She grabbed the cash, and answered the door. She took the pizza and handed him the cash thanking him. She had been surprised by how quickly the time went by.

She turned to see Keelan coming back into the room. "Well, the pizza's here," she announced, holding up the box in her hands. "Where do you want to eat? In here or at the table?" Ros didn't care which. She wasn't really paying attention to the show. Her mind was still thinking of the wolf.



Ricky followed after Chris. The pack was sated with food, so there wasn't much need to hunt now. They were just running as a pack. Ricky could only guess where they were heading. There didn't seem like Chris had a destination in mind as they ran. This left Ricky thinking about what he was going to say to his mate.

He couldn't just come out and say that he was a werewolf. She would probably think he was crazy and insane, and if there was a chance that she believed him, she would think that he was going to hurt her. He remembered how Devin told them that it took a few months for him to be able to tell his mate what he was, and when he did, she was freaked out and almost broke up with him. The last part worried Ricky because a wolf ne'er moved on when the mate broke up with them or passed on. Their mates were it for them.

"Put it in the living room, I need to watch the new episode of the Bachelor," she said, running to the kitchen to grab a bottle of Gatorade. This season had been high-drama and super steamy, she'd been looking forward to this episode all week. While in the kitchen, she also grabbed plates and napkins, bringing them back out to the living room and setting them on the table.

Then the strangest thought hit me. While doing my research to set up a rescue here, I became very well acquainted with what wildlife was in the state. "Hey Ros..." she said, her mouth full of pizza. She finished chewing and swallowed, "Pennsylvania doesn't have wolves."

Chris decided not to think while he ran, just letting the air hit his face. They were only able to morph once a month, so he tried to force himself to enjoy the moment. Tomorrow would come, then he could focus on his mate, and think to himself just how beautiful she was.

Others, who have no idea what it's like for a wolf to find their mate would probably consider it obsessive. In a way, it is. But to them, their mates made up a huge part of their identity.

Rosalyn looked at Keelan in shock. "Then what were those wolves? Did they escape from a zoo? Or was someone owning them like pets?" she asked. She cringed at the last part. The thought of owning a wolf as a pet made her cringe. They were wild animals that deserved to be free, not held in a fence to be a pet.

She looked over at Keelan, trying to get a feel at what she was thinking. Rosalyn knew that they didn't imagine those wolves coming up to them, so what were they doing in a place that didn't have wolves naturally. She took a bit of her food and wondered what to make of all this.



Ricky kept running, enjoying the feel of air on his face. The access energy that he had was getting put to use. He knew that once he was human, he would be completely lost in thoughts of her and how beautiful she was. His mind would focus on her and only her.

He looked at Chris who looked like he was focused on what was in front of him. Ricky started to think about just how far were they going to run until they headed back home.

"I'm not entirely sure," Keeland answered truthfully. Maybe they'd just strayed from up north, and they were lost. She kept the rest of her thoughts to herself as she finished eating and watching her show, before throwing away her trash and heading up to bed.

"Goodnight, Ros!" She waved as she headed back to her room. She'd been exhausted from the day, that was for sure. Not much lingered on her mind as it drifted away, leading her into some much needed sleep.

They'd gotten to the border, just as Chris had hoped, before he turned the pack around and back to Scranton. By the time that they got home, it would be time to morph back. Chris was getting pretty tired at this point, so the thought of sleep excited him. He knew the rest of the pack was probably exhausted. He'd chalked this up as a successful night, but he'd talk to the guys about it the next time they were all together.

Rosalyn yawned and called a goodnight to Keelan. She was exhausted and was still trying figure why the wolves were down here. She got up and threw out her own trash. She went up to her room and curled up in her bed. Her mind was still going over what happened the wolf. She eventually forced herself to go to bed, knowing that she would have a long day if she didn't. Ros was just going to worry about other things in the morning.



Ricky was exhausted by the time they got back home. He was ready to go to bed. He felt his bones begin to reshift as he turned back into a human. He stretched his limbs when he finally got back in his human form. He glanced over at Chris who looked like he was beyond exhausted. He headed into the house, wanting to go to his bed.
