Elena sighed as she placed her book bag down on the desk in her room, glancing across to her roomate's untidy side as she sat down on her bed for a second, checking her phone. She had been in college four days now, and she still had only briefly met her roommate in fleeting as she went from one party to another. Elena wasn't even sure she had seen her come grab a change of clothes. She wondered what she had been going to class in. She typed up a message to send to her family group chat to let them know how her day had gone and hit send, grabbing a bag of apple slices from the mini fridge. She lay back on the bed, letting them rest of the her stomach as she chewed slowly staring at the ceiling.

She was absolutely loving college so far. It was a lot of work, but she felt on top of it. The only thing she was finding difficult was how loud it got at night with so many parties going on, she was struggling to get her full 8 hours in a night and she could feel it's effects. Opening her eyes slowly as she realised she had been drifting of slightly, she startled realising that was people in the room. She sat up quickly, plastering a nervous smile on her face. "Oh shoot" she said with a nervous laugh as the apple slices fell off her stomach on to the floor. She picked them up, crumpling the packet in to the Pam of her hand as she watched her roommate. "Hey Kayla, I was thinking maybe we could grab dinner at the food hall tonight? Get to know one anot-" she began, her cheeks flushing when she realised one of Kayla's friends was standing in the doorway. "Oh uh hey, I'm Elena" she greeted him softly, holding her hand out to shake forgetting about the apples.

"I'm Tristan," he said, giving the girl a crooked grin. Tristan looked her over from head to toe and back to her eyes as he shook her hand. She was beautiful. He hadn't seen her around before. Tristan had been to several parties and met just about everyone who lived on the campus so far. He had been to at least two different parties each night, and he had talked to several different people. He had followed after his high school friend back to her dorm, and here he was standing in front of one of the prettiest girls he had ever seen, and yet he knew that she most likely wouldn't want anything to do wth him. She had an innocent aura around her that screamed that she had never been to a party.

Well, lucky for him, he wasn't deterred by that. Tristan grinned. "So you mentioned something about food. Is that just for Kayla or am I invited too?" he asked, winking at her. He could feel Kayla rolling her eyes at him. She had told him nothing about her roommate and most likely had planned to keep it that way. He ignored her like he always did in times like this. Tristan never let Kayla bother him.

Elena tossed the apples in to her garbage can, wiping her hands on her towel, as she tried to keep her gaze of the guy. She didn't want to seem like she was staring. Her eyes had immediately fallen to the tattooed muscles that were his arms and she found herself a little mesmerised. Elena couldn't imagine how somebody their age could possibly have so many tattoos. "yeah sure of course... The more the merrier" the brunnette told him with a nervous laugh, feeling her cheeks burning red as she turned away hoping he wouldn't realise. "Here, sit down" she offered him sweetly, moving her jacket off of her desk chair. She glanced over at her roommate who was laying upon all the mess on her bed being very silent. Elena didn't like how she was leaving all the conversation to her. She wondered if she was planning on taking a nap.

"So Tristan, are you a freshman too?" Lena asked, sitting down on the edge of her bed,her eyes running over his whole outfit. She wished Kayla would check in before bringing company back, at least giving her time to change out of her college clothes. Her mom had always thought her growing up to dress her best in school because you never know who you might meet, or what opportunities might arise. "So what is it that your studying? Have you know Kayla for long?" She asked him with a smile. She realised her roommate was not going to engage in this conversation.

"I'm a freshman, and I'm studying journalism. I have known Kayla since the beginning of high school," Tristan answered all her questions. He noticed her looking at Kayla who was completely ignoring us. She was a little upset with me, and she didn't like to talk. He leaned back in the chair and stretched his legs out, crossing them at the ankles. Tristan looked at Elena as she watched him. He could see the nerves in her face. He wondered if she was just shy or just didn't know what to make off him.

"So what are you studying here?" he asked. "Or are you just here for some fun now that you are out of home and away from family?" He had a half-smile on his face as he watched her looking him over.

Elena nodded as he spoke, smiling at him kindly. "Ooh journalism, that must be cool" she told him with a soft laugh, letting her gaze drop to her lap when she felt him looking over her. She laughed gently, shaking her head as he asked her if she was here for fun. "no no, I'm a freshman too.. I'm studying Music and Chemistry- weird mix I know" she commented, running her hand through her hair as she glanced over at Kayla again. "You guys were out last night I'm guessing, I didn't hear her come home" she commented lightly, grabbing herself a bottle of water and holding one out to him if he wanted it.

She wasn't exactly pleased Kayla had put her in this position. She barely even knew her and yet Elena was having to entertain her guests. She began to blush softly as she realised that maybe Kayla and Tristan had been hoping she wasn't here so that they could use the room. "You know I can leave if you two want the place to yourselves or whatever... I should really go to the library anyway" she asked him a little nervously.

Tristan laughed at what she was suggesting. He had followed Kayla only because he was bored and needed something to keep him occupied. He wasn't sure what Kayla had in mind, but she was already on her phone texting someone else. "Yeah, well, I think we should both get out of here before she kicks us out," he said, standing up. "She's already pissed at me and is ready to rip my head off."

He held the door open for her. "Come on. I'll walk you to the library," he offered. Kayla's eyes flicked up to his, and Tristan knew he wasn't going to hear the end of this. He didn't care. "I'll try to be a perfect gentleman," he added on, knowing that he wasn't one. A voice in his head told him that she wouldn't go for a guy like him. A guy who always partied, got drunk, and smoked was not something she was looking for, but he wasn't out right cruel to make her walk across campus by herself.

Lena raised her eye at him slightly as he mentioned Kayla kicking them out. Kick you out maybe... I live here she thought to herself but she would never have the balls to say something like that to somebodoes face, especially not somebody like Tristan. She glanced up at him, with a quick nod as she realised he was holding the door for her. "oh yeah sure" she said quickly gathering her things together. "Talk later then?" She called out to Kayla as she turned to leave, her face faltering a little as the girl barely even looked up at her.

"You uh- you really don't need to walk me" she said with a little laugh, pulling her book bag up tighter on her shoulder as she glanced at him. She already could tell he was a guy who didn't take no for an answer. She sighed softly and began walking alongside him. "So why is she so mad at you?" She asked softly "I mean only if you want to tell me you don't have to worry" she added quickly, having to do a little jog step every couple of seconds to keep up with his long strides. He moved with such confidence and conviction it both amazed and terrified Elena all at once.

Tristan shrugged. “I piss her off a lot. She wants me to do one thing, and then doesn’t. I can’t seem to please her,” he rambled. He knew that Kayla had a bit of thing for him since they met, but he never saw her as more than a friend. He had slept with her when they were bother drunk, but he had always made it clear that it was a ont time thing and that he wanted to stay friends. As awkward as it was afterwards, he never let it happen again and she was doing everything to make it happen again. “And I flirt with everyone in her words, not mine.”

Tristan looked over at Elena and noticed that she was having to quicken her pace beside him. He slowed slightly letting her walk and not jog next to him. He had long legs, and he had the bad habit of walking faster than a lot of people. Most of his friends were as tall or taller so he never had to worry about it, but she was shorter than he was and her steps weren’t as long as his. “Has she even talked to you?” he asked curiously. He kind of already knew the answer, but he wasn’t sure.

Elena eyes him wearily as he spoke, but nodded along. She didn't really believe anything he was telling her, he knew people didn't get that pissed off with somebody else for no reason. "Are you two together?" She asked gently, figuring if they were Kayla was clearly right to be annoyed he had been blatantly flirting with her in their room.

She smiled softly realising he had slowed down and she could stop speed walking. She re-adjusted her bag on her shoulder as she shrugged. "Just a little in passing,I'm sure she's been really busy with classes and stuff though!" She told him. Elena had really hoped she would get on a little better than she had been with her roommate. Not wanting to go to parties and things meant she was finding it a little hard to make friends.

Tristan looked at Elena. She had seen through his glazing over what’s going on between Kayla and him. “We’re not together. She wants to be, and I just don’t feel anything towards her like that,” he admitted. “Trust me on that. She’s mad that I don’t want her like she wants me. I just want to be friends.” He didn’t know how much he should tell her about how he has never had luck with relationships. He was a flirt but he was loyal when he was in one. He just hasn’t felt the need to get into many when the girl he’s with doesn’t want to be loyal to him in return.

“I say that’s probably the most you get out of her. She’s antisocial unless she’s drunk,” he said lightly. “So have you made any friends here? Well, I mean besides me.” Tristan knew that his confidence was always high but he was going for a smile from her. He stepped around a group of people sitting in the grass and brushed his arm against hers in doing so.

Elena felt some alarm bells going off in her head, this guy clearly thought every girl was in to him- and he didn't seem to respect that either. Lena thought it quite mean that he was aware of Kayla's feeling but still flirt with her roommate... And she didn't want that to mess up any possible friendship her and Kayla could have.

Elena rolled her eyes playfully as he called himself her friend, although she didn't want to give away too much. She Hought he was cute- but she knew he wasn't the sort she should get close with. "Ah, I've spoken to a few people in my course but we'll no. I haven't really gotten to know anybody very well" she said with an awkward laugh, feeling a jolt move across her skin as he brushed against her. "I'm not a huge drinker... So uh- I'm not really the party kind" she told him, stopping outside the library door and turning to face him.

Tristan wondered what was going through her head. He could normally get a read on most girls, but there was something about her that he couldn't quite read. He tilted his head to the side as they came to a stop in front of the library. He pulled a pen out of his pocket. "Call me when you want to spend some free time," he said as he wrote his number on her wrist. "I'll help you make some friends around here without partying. Or if you just want to talk."

He didn't know what to say else to say about Kayla. He knew that she was probably worried about making friends with her, but he knew Kayla, and she was always standoff-ish with everyone. "And don't force a friendship with your roommate. She'll eventually warm up to you," he said. "You're a really sweet girl that no one can't like." He smiled as he stepped back.

Elena stood there awkwardly, shifting her weight from one foot to the other as he wrote down his number. She watched as he began to walk away, her cheeks flushing yet again when he complimented her. She stood watching him walk away, her eyes slowly focusing in on his ass, it was nice. She had never actually found herself admiring a guys ass before. "Tristan!" She called out, the words leaving her lips before she even had a minute to think. "You still want to grab some food tonight?" She asked nervously. She was a little tired of eating on her own, and figured it could be nice to have some company for once, even if that company was as dark and brooding as this boy she just met.

She bit on her lip as she waited for his answer, really hoping she didn't seem desperate for a friend, or that he would misconstrue this as a date. She could feel the tension building in her chest as she waited for him to respond.

Tristan turned back towards her and smiled widely. "I would love to. Just text me where you want to met and when, and I will be there," he answered. He was a little shocked that she had called after him, but he wasn't going to turn her down. He liked talking to her, and she seemed willing to put up with his little shenanigans so far.

He turned back around and started walking away. He smiled warmly to himself. He was getting to spend more time with Elena. There was something about her that just immediately attracted him to her. He didn't know what it was, but he wasn't the type to ignore those feelings. Those gut feelings always helped him in the long run.

Elena smiled and gave him a quick nod, "Okay, cool. See you then" she told him before disappearing into the double glass doors of the library. She stayed studying until about 7pm, and then her eyes began to wander to the number on her wrist. She found herself peppering over her phone for a few minutes, questioning if she should send the text at all. What of he had only been being nice to mock her? He really didn't seem like the type of person who would usually wait to be friends with a girl like her. Taking in a deep breath she summoned up some courage and began typing.

Hey it's Elena, the girl from earlier? If you're still up for it I'll be heading to the food hall in 20 minutes :)

She sent the message and sat back in her chair, feeling butterflies filling her stomach and she wasn't sure why. Something about Tristan excited her even though she knew deep down he was the type of person she should avoid. Lena pulled her hair up in to a ponytail out of her face and began to gather up her things, heading towards the mess hall. She kept checking her phone for the reply. It wasn't like it would be any different if she had to eat on her own, but now she was looking forward to the company.

Tristan felt his phone vibrate in his pocket. He was in his dorm ignoring his roommate who was rambling on about his classes. He smiled seeing who it was. He read over the text and sat up. Tristan had assumed that she would have changed her mind about spending time with her, but he was smiling like an idiot just seeing that it was her that messaged him. He typed a quick reply as he stood up going to get his shoes back on.

Hey, Elena. Of course, I am still up for it. I’ll be there.

Tristan pulled his shoes on and walked out the door. He was too happy to just wait longer in his room. He was just glad that she messaged him. He walked through the campus, going around the long way around so he wouldn’t be too early waiting for her. Tristan still got their a little early, but it wasn’t too bad. He stay down on the steps looking for Elena.

A sense of nervousness came over Elena when the message came in on her phone, and she suddenly realised that a large part of her had assumed Tristan wouldn't show up. She tried to shake off the feeling, pulling her jumper around her tightly as she headed toward the food hall. She assumed she would would be there before him, and therefore couldn't help but laugh a little when she spotted him standing on the steps outside.

"You got here quick" she said to him with a soft laugh as she got closer, beginning to walk inside with him. "What did you get up to this evening?" She asked him, sitting down at the first available table she saw, tucking her bag in underneath the table.

“I wasn’t going to let a pretty lady wait on me,” Tristan said. He could tell how much of a flirt he was being towards her, and he couldn’t help himself from being like that. “I haven’t gotten into too much trouble yet. I just lazed around my dorm. Listening to my roommate ramble on about nothing.” He didn’t want to admit that he didn’t much care for his roommate.

“What about you? Did you have a good time in the library?” Tristan asked, genuinely curious. He leaned back in his chair. He watched her at her stop. She was nervous and she had seemed surprised to see him waiting for her. He wondered if she had thought that he wouldn’t have shown up here to spend time with her.

Elena rubbed the back of her neck, feeling her face heating up. She wasn't really used to people flirting with her, and she didn't know how to react. She just silly laughed, holding her arms around herself self-consciously. "I mean the library was exciting as a library can be" she told him with a small chuckle, letting her hair down out of it's ponytails, letting it hide her face partially. "what does your roommate study?" She asked kindly, pulling her purse out of her bag, holding it in her hands.

Lena found her eyes glancing over his arms again, looking at the detail of the tattoos which were illustrated over his skin. "When did you start getting those?" She asked him, blinking hard realising that mind had wondered slightly- she hadn't heard anything he just said in response to her last question. "Shall we grab some food?" She asked with a smile.
