Tristan shrugged. “I think business, but not sure. He talks too fast to follow most of the time,” he admitted. He watched her curiously, noticing her hiding behind her hair. He leaned into the table and looked at her face. He didn’t want her to be scared or afraid to talk with him. Tristan wanted to tuck her hair back so that he could get a better look at her face. But he didn’t want to startle her too much so he refrained for a second.

“Uh, when I turned seventeen. My cousin is a tattoo artist, and he offered to give me one,” Tristan replied looking down at his arms. He remembered how his parents yelled when they found out about it. It obviously didn’t stop him from getting more. He had his arms tattooed up and he was thinking about getting more. “Uh, yeah. Let’s get some,” he said, standing up. He made sure that he had his wallet and followed her up to the counter.

Elena nodded softly "they're nice, they suit you" she said kindly before making her way to the food line. She had always liked the look of tattoos, especially Small, cute ones but she would never have considered getting one herself. She knew her parents would kill her if they saw it and she hated to fight with her parents. She turned to face him in the queue, fidgeting with the keyring on her purse. "Do they all have like a meaning behind them or just because you like them?" She asked. Elena had one of those faces that always seemed to look kind of happy, even when she wasn't really trying- gladly she was generally quite a happy person so it worked in her favour.

Once they got to the front of the line she got herself some veggie lasagne and side salad, some fruit and a little pudding cup for dessert. "It's so handy the food in here being so cheap,I really don't think I'd be very good at cooking if I had to" she commented, picking up a bottle of water and placing it down art the register to pay.

Tristan shrugged. “Some of them have meaning, and some of them are just because I like the design,” he replied, moving with line. He got a Italian sandwich and some chips and grabbed a chocolate chip cookie. Grabbing a bottle of water, he looked up seeing she was going for her purse. “Hey, I got it,” he said, moving up beside her. He reached for his own wallet and handed the cashier some cash.

He could feel Elena’s eyes on him as he got back the change. “My father would have my head if I let a lady pay,” he said, shrugging his shoulders. He didn’t want her to feel obligated to thank him or like him, but he had the habits his father had even if they didn’t see eye to eye on a lot of things. He will admit that he did want to impress her a bi because he was into her. He glanced over at her as they made their way back to the table. He could tell she was wanting to say something.

Elena's eyes followed his hand as he handed cash over to the cashier, biting down on her lip. She followed him back to the table quietly, placing her food down and shoving her purse back in to her bag. She sat down glancing across at him. She really hoped he didn't think she just invited him to meet her to pay for her food.

"You really didn't have to do that Tristan, but thank you" she told him gently "let me pay you back?" She offered. Elena was beginning to think maybe she had mistaken him. Sure he was flirty, but he seemed quite sweet too-maybe he wasn't the bad boy she thought he was, maybe they had more in common than she thought. "So where are you from?" She asked as she began to eat.

Tristan held up his hand. "I don't want you paying me back, Elena. I paid because I wanted to," he assured her. He knew that he had surprised her by doing that. He wanted to be kind and be nice to her. He may be a flirt, a partier, and a little bit of a bad influence in some people's words; he was nothing if not a gentleman.

"I'm from this area. Specifically, I lived in Mustang. It's a small-ish town just out of the city," Tristan replied. "What about you? Where are you from?" He looked at her as he waited for her answer. He picked at his food, not wanting to just wolf it down. He didn't want to look like a caveman in front of her.

Elena rubbed the back of her neck softly before nodding "okay I'm sure...well I'll get it next time or something" she suggested, her cheeks beginning to redden. What if he didn't want to hang out again? She felt a little stupid. She laughed softly shaking her head. "God I'm sorry I'm being so awkward today" she commented, training her eyes down on her food.

"I'm from Atlanta, so it's quite a bit from here" she told him, pouring some dressing on her salad before summoning up some courage to look back up at him. She couldn't shake the feeling like he was doing this as a favour or something. He didn't seem to be acting completely normal, or like he was holding back or something. Elena began to think maybe Kayla just really wanted her out of the apartment for a while. "So, are you heading out to another party tonight?" She asked.

Tristan smiled. "I think you're being cute, not awkward," he commented. He took a bite of his sandwich and wondered what was going through her mind. "And if you are trying to invite me to spend more time with you, then know that I'm there." He was enjoying spending time with her.

"I went there once a long time ago," Tristan commented. It was back before high school when he went there, and he only remembers a few things from the trip. He thought over her question. "Maybe, haven't really decided if I want to go tonight. Why do you want to go to one?" he asked curiously. He wasn't going to force her if she didn't want to go. He would be fine just hanging out here with her for the rest of the night.

Elena giggled softly, taking a bite of her salad as she watched him. She couldn't remember a team anyone had flirted with her so out right before- and she thought she was enjoying it. She nodded softly "Yeah, it's a nice city to be fair. I live in more of a subarb to it but I went to school in the city" she explained to him.

When he brought up the party she shook her head "no, no! I was just wondering... Parties aren't really my scene" she said with a nervous laugh running a hand in to her hair. She hoped he didn't think she was a loser for not enjoying parties... She just really didn't like the idea of all the trouble they could cause. "So if you live nearby, why are you staying in dorms?" She asked him sweetly, letting her hair fall in to her eyes yet again.

Tristan smiled, watching her. "Alright. But if you change your mind, let me know and I'll take you to one," he told her. He wasn't going to force her to go to a party if she didn't want to. It wasn't his style to do that. He knew that if she didn't want to go, she wouldn't enjoy. "I promise I won't let anything bad happen to you."

Tristan thought over her last answer. He didn't want to put up a downer, but he didn't want to lie to her either. "My dad and I haven't really gotten along since my mom passed. I decided that if I could put some distance between us for a little bit, then maybe things will get better," he said, being as straightforward as he could be.

Elena nodded happily, thankful that he was offering her his time but she really felt nervous about going to a party. She felt she would stick out like a sore thumb. "Maybe some other time, I think I'm going to get an early night tonight. I have a practice room booked at 8am tomorrow" she told him, opening up her pudding as she finished eating.

Her face fell a little as he began to speak about his family. "Oh my God Tristan I'm so sorry. I shouldn't have asked if didn't want to pry" she said quickly, feeling embarrassed. She reached her hand out to Pat his arm softly. "I'm really sorry to hear that though" she added, feeling guilty she had made him bring it up.

Tristan smiled at her. He could tell that she considered it for a second. He wasn't thinking that she would take him up on the offer, and he wasn't going to hold that against her. She was a kind girl who obviously came here to learn something, not to get drunk. He didn't want to ruin her education. "Well, hey, if you change your mind or can't sleep, just text me," he said. "I'm always up for some late night talk."

He looked at her and shrugged. "You didn't pry, and it's fine. I have gotten used to it and doing what I need to do," he said. He didn't want her to pity him and he didn't want her to feel bad for asking him something. "And honestly, if there's anything you want to ask, just ask. I won't get offended, I promise."

Elena smiled at him, she really wasn't used to guys being so forward with her. She usually felt like she always shrank into the background because she could be so shy, but Tristan was making her feel noticed in the best way. "I'll keep it in mind, thanks" she commented with a chuckle.

She gave his arm a little squeeze "well if you ever need anything you can talk to me... I mean uh- I know you probably have tons of people and whatever but ah, yeah" she told him with an awkward laugh, pulling her arm away as her cheeks flushed pink. She pushed her now empty tray away from herself, leaning her head in her hands as she just watched him for a moment. "How long ago did she pass away?" She asked softly.

Tristan smiled. He liked watching her smile. He was amazed at how easy it was for him to talk to her. He had always been outgoing and flirty, but this was different. He was able to open up to her about things he didn't open up to anyone else about, and he didn't feel like she was judging him for any of it.

"I honestly don't have that many people, Elena. I have a few friends and a lot of people I hang out with," he admitted. It was kind of odd how he only had like four people he would actually consider friends where as everyone else were just fun to be around. He leaned back in his chair and thought about her questioned. "Probably about five years now. She passed away just before I went into high school," he replied.

Elena nodded softly as she kept her eyes on him. She wanted to make sure he knew she was listening to him fully. "That must have been so hard Trusted, especially when you didn't get on with your dad. Well done for getting yourself her.. I don't hunk I could've done that" she told him honestly before taking a sip of her water. She cleared her throat softly and shrugged, "I mean I know it's not really the same but my mom left when I was in my sophomore year. She took up a bit of a drinking habit and left my dad" she told him, playing with her hair anxiously. "My Dad is great though, he took really good care of us. And I still see her, which is okay I guess. So in a very roundabout and completely different way I get how you might have felt" she told him blushing, hoping he didn't think she was being conceited bringing the story back on herself.

Tristan smiled. "Yeah, I ca imagine it was still hard to go through," he said, looking at his hands. "My dad isn't cruel. I mean, he helps pay for most what my scholarship doesn't pay for. He just took the lose of my mom really hard, and he just didn't know what to do with me. I was a wild kid, not knowing what to do or handle my mom's death," he said. "I'm glad you had your father there for you. It's nice to have someone there to support you during hard times. I didn't really have anyone."

Elena tried to stay looking happy, but it made her feel upset to see Tristan talking so openly about what was evidently a hard time, and she hated that he had felt so alone throughout it all. She barely knew this guy, but she felt for him. It wasn't even a feeling of pity, more so empathy, she. Ould grasp how had felt.

She chatted with him for another few moments before starting to gather up her rubbish and things. "I don't mean to be rude, I've enjoyed talking with you but I think I need to head home I'm starting to feel tired" she told him with a soft laugh. She was such a grandma needing to be in bed before 10.

Tristan smiled, standing up. He wasn't going to admit it to her now, but he wouldn't mind just hanging around until they kicked them out. He grabbed her tray to help her. "Hey, I enjoyed myself. And would love to hang out with you again," he said, assuring her that he wasn't judging her for going to back to her dorm so early.

"I'll be more than happy to walk you back to your dorm. There isn't a reason a kind and pretty lady should walk alone across campus," Tristan said. He was looking to spend a little more time with her, but he didn't want to be forcing her to be around him longer than she wanted.

Elena smiled at him, thanking him for helping her with a tray. "Yeah I'd like to hang out again too!" She told him honestly, making a note in her head to get in touch with him so that he knew she meant it. She covered her mouth with her hand as she yawned, picking up her back pack and slinging it over her shoulder. She let her hair fall over her face again, smiling dopily as he complimented her. Lena really didn't know how to react to it, it wasn't something she was used to.

"That would be great if you don't mind! Will I be dragging you out of your way though?" She asked, not wanting to be a nuisance. She really was enjoying spending time with him, and wished she could stay out longer but she knew she had stuff to do before she went to sleep, and was already feeling tired. "So what is it that you've got a scholarship in?" She asked as they began to walk toward the dorm.

Tristan was making it a point to compliment her because she looked adorable every time he did. And he never had a problem making a girl blush but this was the first time that he was truly enjoying it. Tristan hated that she didn’t seem used to it which meant that no one really did this for her. He just needed to show her that she deserved the attention at least from him.

“It’s no problem. I don’t have anything else to do, and besides I would rather spend time with you than anything else,” he said, winking at her. It was the truth; he didn’t want to do anything else. “I made good grades through high school and I volunteered at the hospital when I wasn’t working at the movie theater in town,” he answered. “My boss at the hospital I was volunteering at nominated me for the scholarship.”

Elena rubbed the back of her neck, smiling at him as they walked across campus. "Well thank you Tristan. You're really sweet" she commented, looking over his face for a minute before looking back down at the ground, not wanting to be caught checking him out.

"Wow you must have worked really hard to get that, well dobe," Elena said, genuinely happy for him. She had applied for a ton of scholarships but none of them worked out. She knew it would've relieved a lot of stress for her dad at home. She let silence fall over them for a minute as the walked, she was sort of glad she had met him. He seemed so nice and she kind of thought maybe she might see him as more than a friend but she didn't want to move too fast. "Well this is me" she said as they stopped outside of her dorm block. "I mean.. you knew that though.. Kayla lives here. Duh" she said with a soft laugh.
