Distance makes the heart grow fonder

Peter sighed softly, "uh someone tricked me into doing something, and another guy took a photo, it spread, and well, I decided to drop out, rather than suffer through it for four years," he said lightly. He held her close, "what about you, why are you home?" he asked.

Charlie nodded softly, she felt like there just be more to the story.. she didn't think being called gay would be so bad it would be drop out worthy. "Wait... So you dropped out in Freshman year? You haven't been to school since?" She asked, turning to face him, her body still cuddled against his.

"I um... I don't really want to get in to it but I was thrown out of school. I kind of got myself in some trouble" she told him with a soft shrug. "I fell in with the wrong guy" she semi explained.

Peter nodded gently, "yeah, but I've been doing okay," he whispered. He held his arms around her tighter. He sighed softly, "oh I'm sorry Charlie, men suck," he whispered.

He closed his eyes gently, and began drifting into a light slumber.

Charlie nodded silently, her eyes looking in to the darkness of his room as she felt his arms tighten around her. She gave his arm a little squeeze with her hand listening as his breathing got heavier and she heard him fall asleep. It took her a while but eventually she felt her own eyes drifting closed.

Peter managed to sleep soundly, for the first night in so many. He curled up with her, over the covers. He dreamt of their times together when they were younger, and close they were.

Charlie woke up early the following morning and slipped out of his arms, plodding across the hall to her own room silently. It felt so strange knowing how disappointed her dad was in her, she had always been his little princess and it just didn't feel as much like that anymore. She sighed, climbing in under her own covers and letting herself drift back to sleep.

Petey remained asleep until morning. When he woke, he was a little disappointed that Charlie wasn't still there, but assumed she'd already woken. He stretched and made his way towards the bathroom, to have a shower.

Charlie slept in late, but still woke up with a banging headache. She groaned gently and sat up in bed. She only had one more day until she had to go join a new school, halfway through senior year.

She sighed,pulling a sweatshirt on over her pyjama shorts and heading downstairs. She began to brew some coffee for herself, yawning as she glanced around the kitchen.

Peter finished his shower, he dressed in a warm hoodie, and some jeans before heading down to the kitchen. He smiled seeing her, "morning Charlie," he said softly. He made his way over to the fridge pouring himself a drink of orange juice.

Charlotte glanced up hearing somebody come in to the room and smiled softly. "Morning Petey" she answered, stirring some creamer in to her coffee before taking a seat at the kitchen table. "Did you sleep okay?" She asked him sweetly.

Peter smiled at her, looking her over, "Morning, yeah I slept well, how about you?" he asked softly. He sat down as he sipped his drink.

He wondered what her plans for the day were going to be. "So Charlie, should we work on making you room, more homey today?" he asked softly.

Charlotte smiled at him gently "Yeah I slept okay" she told him. God, he was so hot..and exactly the same loving Petey she remembered from when they were little. Just seeing him look over at her like that sent tingles all around her skin. She knew she needed to shake those feeling though, this was her step brother, it wasn't right.

"Yeah that sounds good.. what were you thinking?" She asked with a smile. When she sat here without her makeup on, the dark circles under her eyes were a lot more obvious, it'd been a while since she got a decent night's sleep.

Peter smiled brightly, "well, we can start by tidying everything up, then we can get you a proper dresser, and hang some posters or pictures," he said softly.

Peter was glad that she wasn't expected at school until tomorrow, the longer he could put off going back there the better.

Charlotte nodded in agreement, as she began to rifle tjrpught some more of the stuff in the room. She sighed loudly rolling her eyes. "I honestly think we can just dump all my mother's stuff she said with a groan.

She was so grateful for all of his help, although she couldn't shake the thought of him trying to kiss her from his head.

Peter nodded softly, "well how about we start by simply moving it all out of the way,' he said. He moved in and began moving out boxes. After several trips, of shifting boxes full of her mother's things, Petey, was beginning to sweat.

He smiled at her lightly, "Okay, so do you want to shift the bed, or dresser anywhere in particular or are they fine where they are?" he asked her gently once the room was cleared of boxes.

Charlotte pursed her mouth, tapping on her lip gently with her index finger as she thought. "Could we out the bed over by the wall on that side? And maybe move the desk over to the window?" She asked him with a smile. She was incredibky grateful for his help.

She scraped her hair back from her face ready to help him move everything.

Peter smiled and nodded, "that sounds perfect," he said lightly. He went about moving her furniture around the room, with her help. Once the room was arranged properly, and tidied up, he looked over at her. "It's nice to have you back," he said lightly. He moved over towards the door, "We'll have to catch up properly at some stage," he added.

Charlotte smiled once everything was in place, looking around happily. "This all looks great petey, thanks so much for your help" she told him and sat down on the edge of the bed. "so hey, I was gonna get some of my stuff unpacked, but would you like to go hang out at the lake this afternoon? I heard the weather was gonna be good? I bet I could still get that guy at the eliquor store to sell to me, I don't think I've lost my touch" she said with a chuckle

Peter looked at her, thinking for a moment, "that sounds like a good idea," he said softly. He paused, "Come and get me when you are ready to head down?" he asked softly. He wanted to get some of his own stuff sorted this morning, it had been awhile since he had a reason to do anything.

Charlie noded and began putting away some of her things. After about an hour she changed into a t-shirt dress and a bikini and headed across the hall to Peter's room. "He I'm almost ready to go if you are!" She said, knocking on the door softly before opening it.
