Pulling on one of the ropes, the sail of her small ship moved over to the left. She had been out on the ocean for a little over a day now, and Charlotte felt she was far enough from everything to do what she needed. There was no land in sight, no one to witness. The only thing on the horizon was a ship. Though one too far away to notice her little dingy, Charlotte was sure. After all, she took a little sailing ship out onto the open ocean. Actually, she was surprised that the thing hadn't capsized yet.

Charlotte tied up the ropes before moving out onto the edge. Her feet hanging over the wood. Hopefully the stories were true. That dying at sea was quick, painless and peaceful. All the writers made it sound so...poetic and Charlotte could only hope that it was the truth. Her hands slowly moved over her long dress, over her corset and pulling at the fabric gently. She hoped that whoever she met at Death's door understood her plight. Understood why this was the only solution.

The woman stood there for a few minutes, her eyes closed as she whispered her prayers to herself. And once a moment of peace finally washed over her, Charlotte fell into the deep blue ocean. Her head went in first, diving deep into the water. Charlotte opened her lips, allowing her last breaths to leave her. A moment of panic enveloped the woman as water moved into her lungs but it was soon replaced by a deep dreariness. Everything then went black as Charlotte fell into deep unconsciousness. Her body then moved up to the top of the sea, floating there.

Closing his chocolate orbs, Louis took in a deep breath through his nose and slowly exhaled through his lips. The warm sea air was addicting. Just like the way the waves rocked the boat, lulling him to sleep at night or stirring him in the morning. Peace was the definition that the captain believed described the wide open space called the ocean. So much out there was yet to be explored, so much gold and jewelry that was begging to be snatched and sold to the highest bidder. He was a free man, bound by no law but his own.

"Captain!" One of Louis' men called out to him, getting the young captains attention. "Over there!" The man called and pointed towards a small boat that was heading there way. "I think they might need help, there seems to only be one person on it." A small hum escaped from the captain as he thought about what the young man said, then nodded his head before turning the wheel in the direction of the little sailboat. "Let's go check it out and see if we can help." He replied to the young man, an if anything he could always rob the man for whatever he's got and then lock him in a cell until he could pawn the person off for a possible bounty.

As the ship got closer, a grave feeling fell over the captain and he called to a nearby crew member over to take the wheel as he rushed over to the ledge. A few of his men were crowded together, looking down. As soon as Louis appeared, his blood ran cold. There, in the water, was a young woman. "Shit." He said under his breath as he all but jumped overboard to save the young woman.

The water was cool as it lapped against Louis' body, fighting him as he swam towards the girl. Then, once he was close enough, he wrapped his right arm around her and started to swim backward as he pulled her to his ship. His men threw them a rope to hold onto as he got closer, then proceeded to pull him up.

Once the two were on the deck, Louis called for his men to get the ships doctor before he started to do what he remembered seeing the doc do. He pressed his lips to hers and breathed into her mouth before pressing on her chest. Trying to get her to breathe. Louis was a bad, bad man, but he'd be damned if he allowed for a young woman to die when he could do his best to try and save her.

After a few hard compressions against the woman's chest, she started to cough up the sea water. As he kept pressing down, more water came out until there was nothing left. A large breath entered Charlotte, her breathing starting back up again. Her chest moved heavily, showing that she was still alive but still unconscious.

The ship doctor rushed to Charlotte's side, quick to work. Once he was sure of the young woman's condition, he had her moved to a room where she could rest privately. The man turned to the captain, clearly in a hurry to move back to her side but knowing better than to not update the captain. "I believe she will live Captain. Though we will know more of her condition once she awake, however long that may take."

With that, the captain moved to the room that she was brought to, sitting by her side as he tended to her. He managed to get her wet, heavy clothes off of Charlotte, changing her into some of the spare clothes on the ship. The doctor also dried her face and hair before moving to the side of the room, mixing a small drink that would hopefully help the woman once she awoke.

An hour had gone by before Charlotte's eyes fluttered open. Her head was pounding and her body felt sore. The woman looked around the room, her eyes glazed over. Confusion slowly started to come over Charlotte as she started to realize that the room was not familiar and that she had no idea what was going on. The doctor immediately sent for someone to tell the captain before sitting besides the woman, speaking to her softly.

The sound of a knock on his door brought Louis out of his thoughts. He glanced up from his writing desk and let out a small sigh as he put the pen back into its ink well before shifting so that he was facing the door. "Enter." He said loudly so that the person on the other side could hear him.

As soon as the door opened, Louis could feel his eyes narrow suspiciously. He was expecting bad news. That the young woman had perished and that they'd have to give her back to the ocean to claim once more, but. The words that left the young mans lips caused the captain to allow a small sigh to escape from him as he leaned back in his chair a little bit more. The girl was alive, and that was a relief.

Standing from his chair, Louis dusted his white shirt off and made sure that his dark colored pants weren't looking weird. Then, he left his room and headed towards the young girl's room. For some reason, a ting of nerves washed over the young man. For the past however long he's been on a ship, Louis hasn't felt anything but confident. So, why was he feeling this strange feeling now? Over a girl of all things. Louis wasn't a stranger to woman, so why was this drowning beauty any different?

As Louis came to a stop in front of the room they set the girl up in. The tall male couldn't help but take in a few deep shaky breaths. Doing his best to calm his nerves as best as he could. Then, he knocked, a few times actually before he opened the door at the doctor's word and took a step into the room. His eyes instantly gliding towards the beauty that was laying on the bed. "Well look at who's awake." He said, trying to bring in a little lightness to the atmosphere. "How's her condition?" Louis asked the doctor, his eyes shifting towards the older man as he was filled in on everything.

"Well, she is alive." The doctor said as he looked at her. "Her current condition is worrisome though and there is a chance that it will become worse." He started to point out the blueness around her lips and fingertips. "This is not a good sign and she was unconscious for quite some time after she started breathing again. She is also shaking quite hard as well. What this young woman needs is warmth. If she does not warm up, her situation might become worse. Though, I will have to keep an eye on her over the next few days to ensure that she does not become ill. However, I can not speak to her mental state yet as she has only woken."

As the doctor spoke to the man that walked in, Charlotte looked off to the side. Her memory was slowly coming back to her. While she did not remember how she had got into that room, or what happened to the clothes she was wearing before...Charlotte was very aware that she had tried to kill herself. It was apparent that she had failed considering her current situation. It must have been that damn ship she saw beforehand. Oh she had been so sure they wouldn't make it to her but that seemed to not be the case.

A deep frown came over her lips before she laid her head back on one of the pillows. What was she going to do now? She had no idea who these people were. It was clear to Charlotte that they were on a ship of some kind but she was clueless as to who owned it. Was it the royal navy? Oh god, Charlotte hoped not. A merchant ship would not be too bad but still not preferable. They would try to charge her for the trip, surely. And Charlotte had nothing to give them.

Her head turned over and slowly she looked the men up and down. One was probably a doctor, with the way that he was speaking. It all sounded medically to her and he was very well spoken. The other man looked very different though. And Charlotte could not put her finger on it. Though it did not look like they were part of any navy. They weren't wearing uniforms... or really anything that made Charlotte feel like they were on a merchant ship.

The doctor turned back to the young woman, "Miss, what is your name?"

Charlotte glanced back between the two men before her eyes landed on the doctor. "I have no name to provide, sir."

Slowly, the neutral look that appeared on Louis' face slowly shifted to one of worry. He didn't exactly know what to expect when he entered, but. What the doc was telling him really did set his worries to raise slightly. "Right..." Louis murmured, his tone soft as he looked at the girl laying on the bed, resting.

"I'll tell Tanner to prepare her something warm then," Louis said as he studied the young woman who was on the bed. He had been worried he'd be seeing a corpse, so, even though her condition was still unknown. It was better than having to wrap her in a blanket with a cannonball to weigh her down as she sank to the bottom of the ocean.

"Well, if you have no name young miss, why don't we come up with one to call you?" Louis suggested. Not wanting to call her woman or girl every time he saw her. He felt like that was a bit disrespectful to her and even though he was a Pirate, Louis still had his own standards. Even if most of his men didn't really care either way.

Without waiting for approval from the young girl, Louis walked towards her, a hand on his chin as he thought. "Hm, how about." He stopped at the foot of the bed and leaned forward a bit, examining the young lady. "Marina?" He suggested, a small grin appearing on his lips. "It means sea or ocean." He added on, explaining his wording. "After all, we are on the ocean." Louis thought the name sounded pretty and suit the young girl that was in front of him. "What do you think?" He asked, curious as to know if she'd agree with his little suggestion. "Of course, there's also Kai, Ara, and Coraline, but I think Marina sounds best."

A hint of a smile moved over Charlotte's lips as he offered to give her a new name. She was rather pleased that he did not question it or try to pry into things more. At the moment, Charlotte was unsure of what to tell them. The truth was out of the question. As for lying, Charlotte was not against it but she had nothing prepared. After all, this was not an option that she considered, that she would be rescued after the fact. Though it changed very little to her. She still planned on going through with her decision. The issue that laid before her was how. The two men before her had an interest in keeping her alive.

"Marina is a lovely name." Charlotte told him softly, giving the man a nod of approval. It was a rather cute name and something that Charlotte liked. Plus, it was certainly better than her real name at the moment as this one would cause no trouble for her or for them. And, in truth, it felt rather fitting considering the circumstances.

"And I thank you for your help but please do not worry too much about me. I am sure that I will be in good health soon." Hopefully, this would cause the men not to provide her with too much. There was no point in having them help her if her life would soon be gone anyways. "I think all I need is rest."

The doctor shook his head at Marina's suggestion. "Rest, food and warmth is what you need. And perhaps medicine tomorrow." He stood up from his chair. "What were you doing out on the sea alone miss?"

Charlotte shifted her attention from the doctor immediately as he started to ask questions and contradict what she wanted. Her eyes landed on the other man. "Who is the captain of this ship? This is not a navy ship, is it?"

The movement was faint and quite quick, but. Louis had caught it. He had seen the movement of her lips turning into a small smile. It caused a warm flutter to fill Louis' chest at the mere feeling of causing the girl a little bit of comfort in this time of need. "Marina it is then." That settled it, it seemed. She now had a name to go by, which was good.

Slowly, shifting his gaze towards the doctor as he started to speak and then looking towards the girl. Louis could feel like things were starting to go away that he really didn't want to hear. "Hey, doc," Louis said, trying to cut the old man off as he walked forward. Placing his hands on his shoulders a little roughly and then gently squeezing the muscles. "Why don't ya go a tell Tanner to prepare her something. I'm sure all of the water caused her previous stomach contents to have turned non-existent."

With that, Louis all but picked the man up by his shoulders and shoved him towards the door. The doc seemed to want to argue, but with one look from Louis, the doc got the message and left. "I'm the captain here," Louis said as he moved to the now vacant seat and sat down. His arms crossing over his chest. "An you are correct Marina. This is not a navy ship." Louis leaned back in his chair, crossing one leg over the other as he got comfortable. "Nor is it a merchant ship."

Silence followed Louis' last words as he waited for them to sink into the girl's mind. He liked a little suspense when it came to telling people what they were. The change in expressions was quite humorous to him. "We're pirates." He finally said, after watching her expressions shifting.

"Look, Marina," Louis said after allowing for the words he had just spoken sank in. "I could really care less about who you are, where you came from, we all have our secrets. You're more than welcome to keep them to yourself, or to tell the world, but, just know. Now that you're here, on my ship. You're not going to be able to leave freely. It won't be safe, for either of us."

As the captain told her that they were neither on a navy nor a merchant ship, some confusion passed over Charlotte's face. That really only left two options, neither she was particularly fond of. Either she was on a wealthy noble's ship, who would, unfortunately, be sure to recognize her or...

A sigh left the woman's lips as he confirmed that they were indeed pirates. Charlotte seemed more annoyed by the prospect than anything else. In truth, she was unsure if this was worse or better than the other options that were before her. Unlike the others, there was a possibility of getting what she wanted - death. Though also unlike the others, Charlotte would probably not be sent back to her previous situation, but possibly one just as bad. At least with a merchant ship, she would have had time to off herself before they realized who she was. This man had no idea but he might want to sell her and stop her plans in order to do so.

She lifted her eyes back to the man in front of her as he started to speak once again. His words were odd to Charlotte. It was nice to know that he wasn't particularly interested in who she was. However, it also did not seem she was going to be given an option of what she wanted to do. "Are you going to kill me or sell me?" Charlotte asked him bluntly. "I am not one to assume that you are those kinds of pirates but quite frankly, I would rather know now than later, captain."

Charlotte turned her head so she was looking in front of her, rather than at him. "Or are you planning something else for me? If I am to die, I would prefer it to be from my own hand if I may have a last request from you. Though, if you are to sell me I would like the chance to pay for my freedom. I am afraid I do not have much Sir, but I am sure I could pull together enough at your next stop to do so." She lied. It would be easy for her to pay tenfold whatever he would sell her for, but it did not benefit her to say so.

A small snort escaped from Louis as he crossed his arms over his chest and shook his head. His eyes closed as his head shook, his lips lifting on one side as he listened to the young woman who was laying on the bed in front of him. Then, once he opened his eyes once more, the amusement that danced along in them was obvious. He was enjoying having this woman on board already.

"You should never assume something, miss Marina," Louis said as he raised a hand and ran it through his hair before crossing his arms once more. "Now, think about it." He leaned forward a little bit so that she could get a good look at his eyes. "Why would I have jumped into the water to save you or given you mouth to mouth if I wanted to kill you?" He waited for her to take in his words. "Selling you on the other hand." Louis made a small hum sound as he pretended to think that option over.

In all honesty, Louis hadn't thought about what he'd do with the young woman. He was never really one to see people, nor was he really interested in doing shit for free. He and his men needed to eat after all and this woman. She was currently a freeloader, so, obviously selling would be the best, but. She seemed a little too interesting to just get rid of on the next trip to land.

"You know," Louis said, coming to a realization of everything. A small grin appearing on his lips as he stood and looked towards Marina. "I've always wanted a servant like the rich." He said, grinning a little down at the poor woman. "I think, to pay off your debt to me for saving your life, you will work for me." He turned and headed towards the door, not really in the mood to pay attention to any sort of plea that the woman would have.

"You will wash my clothes, clean my office and of course, do anything else that I would require of you." He stopped talking as he reached the door. His right hand grabbed onto the doorknob before he turned towards Marina and added. "I expect you on the dock first thing in the morning. Until then, eat the mean that Tanner will be bringing you and rest for the rest of the evening." An with that, Louis left the small room and headed back to his to retire for the rest of the evening.

Charlotte could not help but roll her eyes when the captain walked out of her room. She knew it was extremely unladylike but the man was clearly out of his mind if he thought she was going to be his servant. First of all, she was way too high born to sink down to that level for him. And secondly, Charlotte had no idea how. The most she could do for him was mend his clothes, which she had no interest in doing anyway.

But it sounded like the captain was going to let her roam around the ship freely. Which would give Charlotte plenty of time to complete the deed. She supposed she could amuse the captain until she found what she needed. All Charlotte really needed was a knife and that should be easy enough to find with a ship of pirates... Soon enough, Charlotte was given a meal and then left to herself. After eating, the woman set the empty plate down before going through her wet items. Oh, she was very surprised to see that her three rings had been left untouched in her purse attached to her dress. They must not have noticed it amidst all of the confusion of finding a drowned woman in the water.

Satisfied, Charlotte drifted off to sleep, waking at a pounding at her door. "The captain wants you up on deck, NOW!" With that, Charlotte could hear the man stomping off. Charlotte grabbed her long, noble dress. It was a bit damp but she didn't really have anything else to wear. Once it was on, and the rings hidden, Charlotte made her way to the captain. "Good Morning Captain." Charlotte said as she looked over him curiously. She did find him to be a strange man. Though, admittedly, there was something inviting about him. Almost like he was rather warm instead of a nasty pirate. But Charlotte imagined that things were just going to her head after yesterday, probably too much sea water.

There was no doubt that Charlotte was looking better than yesterday. She was no longer shivering nor was her fingers or lips blue. However, the young woman did seem unusually pale and exhausted. Despite not looking her best, many of the crew members were looking over Charlotte curiously. It was not often they had woman on board and certainly not women that looked like her.

The morning air was unusually warm this morning. Although considering the part of the sea that they were currently floating on, it could be considered normal. Summer was just around the corner for the mainland that was a couple of hundred miles away after all. The water was bound to still be cold though as it took a while to warm it's self up from its cold sleep.

Resting against the railing, the young captain hand his hands clasped together. His dark eyes gazing out at nothing in particular. He was lost in his thoughts, wondering what he should do next on his quest to find treasure and have some fun in his life. There was still so much that the young man wanted to do, wanted to see.

Glancing towards the side as a female voice caught his attention. Confusion flashed in Louis' eyes for a moment, before realizing who this woman was. She was the girl who he had saved just the other day, Marina.

"Morning," Louis said, then glanced back towards the open sea that was in front of him. A small smile playing on his lips as he remembered what he had told the woman last night. That she would work off her debt to him by working for him as a servant like the Royals had. Of course, he wouldn't be as harsh to her as they would be. She looked too delicate to really do much labor anyways.

"Marina, come," Louis said, and patted the railing next to him, waiting for her to relax against the railing with him. The whole time, his gaze was out at the open sea. "How do you feel this morning? Are you cold still?" He asked after a while, finally shifting his gaze to look up towards her beautiful eyes.

Charlotte followed the captain over to the railing, laying her hands on it delicately before she glanced out at the ocean. She had been looking out at it for the last two days and had found some sense of peace with it. Being out on the sea, alone was truly the happiest the woman had felt in a long time. Though, even then she would not say she felt happy.

Glancing down at the captain, Charlotte gave him a nod. "Yes, but better than yesterday. I just feel... tired." She told him, picking her words carefully. It was time for this to end, and all she needed was an opportunity to do that today. Besides, if the crew knew who she was, they would quickly realize the danger her presence was putting them in and be happy for her departure. "Though you look good today."

She focused back on the ocean for a moment before continuing. "What is your name? I feel that it is wrong to keep calling you captain. Though I will if you prefer it that way." What name would a pirate captain have anyways? Charlotte had heard of Blackbeard and she assumed that it would be similarly menacing. Not that she found this crew rather frightful. Her father ran more fearful ships than this.

"Well, what will I be doing today? Clean your office?" Charlotte asked. It was the first task she wanted to be given. After all, it was one of the ones he had mentioned earlier. It would also be warmer there than on the deck, and quiet and secluded. And if she had to do work, it was probably one of the few things she could do.

A slow nod was Louis' response to listening to Marina. He was glad that she was doing better. He would have hated having to send her out to sea once again. He hated seeing women die, they were so fragile, it's not fair.
Then, a small snort escaped from Louis at Marina's little comment about him. His gaze showed amusement as he glanced towards the young beauty. "Flattery isn't needed, but thank you." He said, trying to hold back his chuckle as he moved so that he could lean against the railing with his side.

From afar, the two could look like a young couple, enjoying a boat ride. Up close though, you could probably clearly see that the two weren't together. From their posture to the way they talk, they don't really mix well.

"My real name or what the Land lovers call me?" Louis asked, glancing towards Marina once more before looking out at the sea. "To the Land lovers, I'm the Phantom Thief. To my crew, and that means you as well. I am Louis." He explained, not really caring that she'd know his taken name or not. It's not like Louis is his real name anyways. Besides, hearing his nickname that the people called him would probably strike fear into her heart and make her not want to ask any more questions about him anyways.

A snort escaped from Louis as he looked over towards Marina. The right corner of his lips raising as he listened to her. "I was thinking you could wonder the ship today, get to know some of the crew. Although, if you want to get right to work for me then you're free to go ahead and clean my office." He told her.

Charlotte looked down at Louis, unamused with his 'land lover' name. At this point, there was very little that could scare Charlotte and a pirate wasn't going to do the trick. Even if she had heard of him before. Though she was surprised that this was who the Phantom Thief was. It seemed odd to her that a rather well-known pirate didn't just let her die out there. Especially one with stories around his name like him. It didn't make sense to her, wasn't he meant to be ruthless?

"Louis seems like a bit of a let down after 'Phantom Thief." Charlotte joked lightly. Though there was no humor in her eyes, only a little hint of a smile on her lips. "Either way, I would talk to the 'land lovers' about your pirate name. It's not very intimidating." In truth, Charlotte rather liked the name but she was more interested in messing with the man before her than being honest.

Pushing away from the railing, Charlotte glanced along the boat. A whole day to herself? That sounded rather nice to her. It would give Charlotte time to plan things out, which would surely be better than rushing. And, admittedly, she was curious about what was going on here. After all, the young woman had never been on a pirate ship before. "In that case, I think I'll pass on the cleaning, for now, thanks. I would like to look around..."

Taking a few steps away from the railing, she looked back at Captain Louis. What a strange man... Perhaps the others would tell her about him as well. Though who knew how honest they would be, he was their captain after all. "I guess I'll see you around." She said before heading off to look around.

A snort escaped from Louis as he looked away from Marina and shook his head. He really seemed to have gotten himself in deep with this young girl. "Well, I'm sorry to disappoint you, young lady," Louis said, then let out the chuckle that he had been holding in this whole time they were discussing things.

Then, slowly, he stood up to his full six-foot height and looked down at Marina as she stepped away from the railing. Not the least bit surprised that she would take the chance to explore and probably get away from the man who had saved her life.

"Just make sure to come to my quarters before dusk, we're going to be sharing a meal together," Louis said, then walked away from Marina, not really interested in hearing her argue about it or whatever woman did. Instead, Louis walked over to the man steering the ship and placed a hand on the man's shoulder. Effectively spooking the man. They shared a few whispered words before Louis nodded his head and went to head down towards his office. He had a few things he needed to plan for their next robbery as the men were getting antsy.

Casting one last glance towards Marina, he wondered what sort of thing the young woman could get herself into before he just turned and headed down to his office.

Charlotte shook her head as Louis headed off again before she could say another word. Did he always do that? Or did he just do that to ensure that he got what he wanted? Either way, Charlotte was not overly concerned about the dinner with him tonight. In all seriousness, Charlotte did not see him as the type of person who would do anything to her. Just, after his actions over the last day, it seemed unlikely, though she had thought that before... It was probably best to keep her guard up anyways.

She glanced out at the crew before making her way down into the ship. It would be warmer down there and hopefully, she could find more down here. Even a person alone would be a good thing so she could ask questions. As Charlotte moved along the ship, she found that there weren't actually a lot of private areas. While the ship was large, a lot of it was rather open spaces or places where the crew would be. She did find a few useful items for tomorrow but none of them were things that Charlotte did not exactly want to use and there seemed to not be a great place to do it. Especially since the bottom of the ship would be the quietest but Charlotte wasn't allowed down there because that was where the prisoners were kept.

All in all, Charlotte managed to pocket a couple of things as well as talk to some of the crew. A few of them Charlotte tried to keep her distance from. Either because they turned out to be mean assholes or they were staring at her creepily. Though some of them were more normal and willing to carry out a conversation. But when she asked them about the captain, it seemed they weren't very open or truthful. Just that he was fearsome and Charlotte shouldn't try to provoke him. She was sure that as a pirate his morals were lacking but it didn't explain anything else about him to her. She didn't quite understand what he did to keep the ship running or why he seemed to be nice to her.

Though before Charlotte was really able to get the answers she wanted, dusk was approaching. She had really wanted to go into the captain's office but was only now going to get the chance. He had been in there all day it seemed so there was no opportunity to sneak in. Now she just had to open he didn't notice a few of the small stolen items she had hidden in her skirts. None of the others noticed so it seemed unlikely that he would.

Once at his door, Charlotte knocked and waited for permission to enter. "Good Evening Captain Louis."
