Sitting at the head of the table, Louis couldn't help but rub his eyes tiredly. He had been going over things all day. Different towns had different things that he could profit from. Stealing money to jewels, to catching more notorious criminals to just conning people out of their money. So many places, so little time.

Thankfully though, Louis had managed to decide on a location. It was a small island where barely anyone had heard of. Supposedly, they had a mine there that possessed some of the most beautiful gems anyone has ever seen. It'll be an easy in and out job, one where the feds wouldn't really know what hit them until the next day.

Glancing up from his spot at the small dining table, Louis arched a brow. He wasn't expecting anyone, was he? It took the young man a while to think before realization hit him and he wanted to smack his forehead. "Come in." He called, remembering he told the beautiful woman that he wanted her attention this evening.

"Good evening," Louis said as he eyed the young girl once more as she entered. "Please, take a seat. Dinner should be delivered for us in a few moments." He told her as he leaned back in his chair. "How did you enjoy your time exploring? Did you meet anyone interesting?" He asked, amusement dancing in his eyes as he knew some of his members were a little out there sometimes.

"Everyone here is interesting, how could they not be?" Charlotte said as she sat down at the table across from him. "It is not very often that I meet a pirate and especially not a ship full of them." She smoothed the skirt of her dress out before relaxing into the chair a bit. Usually, she would sit much more properly but she figured that a pirate captain wouldn't care how straight her back was. Besides, Charlotte was tired. She should have taken a nap instead of running around the ship all day.

Though, Charlotte did feel like she found out some interesting information and useful items so it was worth it. "I enjoyed exploring. This ship is kinda exciting to wander through. I have never been on a ship before so I didn't know what would be here or what to expect." She lied. Though she had been curious about the difference she would find between this ship and a navy one.

Folding her hands in her lap, she looked over Louis curiously. She wondered why he was so interested in her. And more than that, she was surprised he didn't just throw her down there with the prisoners. It wasn't like Charlotte felt like a prisoner but she didn't understand why she was more than that to him. Her head tilted to the side a bit as she thought about the possibilities. Though, at this point, Charlotte thought there was no harm in asking since it wouldn't matter what his plan was in the end.

"Why did you save me?" Charlotte asked. "I just don't understand why you did so and why you are now letting me wander around your ship - Not that I am not grateful." She wasn't "But it doesn't make sense to me. I assume you didn't save me because you thought I would make a good servant.."

An arch of the brow was really the only reaction that Louis could muster up as he listened to Marina. He was kinda expecting her to say something along those lines anyways. What else was there anyway? For her to tell him that she changed her mind and just slept all day instead of exploring the large pirate ship? Louis kinda doubted that.

"Did you see anything that you weren't expecting?" Louis asked as he sat up in his chair. Looking almost like a very sophisticated man with his strong posture, but the fold of his arms and the look of unamusement kinda ruined the whole appearance. From a young age, Louis hated sitting this way, although, as he was older, it was a habit and one that he couldn't seem to break. No matter how hard he tried.

Hearing Marina's question, amusement danced along the Captain's eyes. He tilted his head to the side ever so slightly as he examined the young girl. "You're a smart girl, Marina," Louis said as he offered her a small smirk as he listened to her and slowly nodded his head. "I didn't save you for any particular reason." He told her, shrugging his shoulders at the truth. "I just don't like seeing young ladies in trouble. That's all. Maybe my cock was doing the thinking for me, who knows." He snorted at that last comment.

"Really though, I don't let people who I can try and save die." He told her, no humor in his voice as he spoke. "You were in danger, so I tried to save you and that is that." Louis stopped talking as one of the youngsters of the crew came in with the meals. Louis gave the boy a small not of acknowledgment before he turned to look back towards Marina. "That boy, his names Nathon. He was the son of a pig farmer. His father beat him senseless every night before I found him and took him in." Louis reached out and grabbed his glass of wine.

"You're not a servant or a slave here Marina," Louis said after taking a few sips and setting his drink down. "I saved you, now, you're part of the crew. Rather you want to or not, so I expect you to earn your keep."

"I just thought that there would be a lot more rooms. The ship underneath is actually pretty open to fit all of the canons. Well, and I guess their dining room." Charlotte told him. Of course, she was surprised by how easy it was to run into people and how difficult it was to find a private area and how easy it was to steal things... Though Charlotte thought it best to keep all of that to herself.

She was quiet as she mulled over everything that Louis said to her. Louis surprised her and his morals on that matter, Charlotte found rather admirable. It also explained why a lot of the crew did not want to really talk about the captain. They just wanted her to fear him unless he said otherwise. Though, it did not change the fact that she was rather annoyed that his actions stopped her plans. A kind act in what was supposed to be her last moments had not been what Charlotte wanted.

"You are a better man than most, Captain Louis." Charlotte said softly as she glanced down at the food. She knew plenty of men who did not feel the way he did, which was unfortunate. Even though they were pirates, and Charlotte was aware of some of their heists from stories, she couldn't help but feel bad for even being on the ship. Just her presence put them in danger and they didn't even know. Hopefully, they would be smart tomorrow and dump her into the sea without another word.

"You did save me and for that I do owe you a debt." While she had no intentions in helping the crew with cleaning, Charlotte supposed she could leave a note and her coins on the captain's desk tomorrow. Hopefully, that would make the man feel a bit better about the situation she was going to put him in. Besides, Charlotte won't need her gold afterward anyways. "To be honest, I do not know a lot of servant work but I do know how to sow and sail."

Shifting his focus onto the food that was in front of him, Louis barely paid the girl any mind. Allowing her to run her mouth as she spoke. His head nodding ever so slightly as a sign that he was paying attention to her, which is a sense, he kinda still was. He knew every inch of his ship. She was open planned and his crew was all close to each other. Sure, some fights broke out every now and again, but that didn't really bother Louis. He rather has a few fights every now and again instead of being bored out of his mind.

As she started to mention that Louis was a good man. Lous couldn't help but to snort at the words and shake his head. "Then you have no idea what a good man is miss," Louis said as he looked up towards the young woman. His eyes showing that he wasn't very amused by being called a good man. "I've killed people, I've stolen, I've destroyed towns with just a command. I am not a good person, so it'd be best if you didn't think that highly of me." He told her, wanting to squash any sort of hero complex she was developing for him.

A small sigh escaped from Louis as he leaned back in his chair, his arms crossing over his chest as he listened to Marina. "Then you can mend the men's clothing and learn to clean." He informed her. "Learn from the boys tomorrow on how to wash the floors and clean the bathrooms." He told her, not really looking to argue. His words were the law around here and if she so much as decided to go against them. Then she would see that he is no good man.

Once Louis was done eating, he let out a small sigh and grabbed ahold of his wine and filled the cup. This being his fourth glass, he was still feeling nothing. After years, he's build up a strong tolerance and could drink almost everyone under the table. Especially when it came to Irish whiskey. That was the Captains favorites. "Marina, why were you floating out to sea on that tiny sail that you had?" He asked, out of the blue. His gaze looking towards the young girl.

"I never said I ever met a good man," Charlotte said, making it clear to him. "only that you are better than any I have ever met - so far." She had no issue letting Louis know that. Men were the spawn of the devil and if it was up to Charlotte, she would have nothing to do with them. They were cruel and evil and selfish. And it was clear to her that they didn't care who they had to crush to get what they want. "If you really want to be on the bottom then you have a lot of work to do because your little list there doesn't affect me and you don't scare me."

Charlotte looked up at Louis, clearly annoyed as he said she was going to learn how to clean. Now that wasn't going to happen. She didn't care if he was the captain. Honestly, Louis could go fuck himself. Though she kept her mouth closed. What was the point of telling him she wouldn't clean anyways? Charlotte just simply wasn't going to do it. She wasn't going to get far enough for him to really notice.

As Louis asked about her sailboat, the woman immediately became tense and defensive. "I thought you didn't care where I came from." Charlotte snapped as she stood up from the table, wiping her hands with the napkin provided. "You know, that really isn't any of your business and I think you should keep your questions to yourself. I am done answering them."

Charlotte dropped the napkin on the table before turning on her heel to leave. She did not want him finding out why she was out there. He seemed like the type of man who would try to stop her and she didn't need another God Damn person trying to fight against her. Especially about this. This was the only choice she really had been able to make in years and Charlotte would kill before she let another thing be taken away from her.

As Marina spoke, Louis couldn't help but feel a headache coming on. She was such a handful and was making him start to wonder why he even decided to save some girl who he didn't even know in the first place. She was right that he was a pirate, but, damn. It seemed that his upbringing was coming into play once more and ruining his life like it always had.

"Just go to bed, Marina. Stress must be getting to your head and messing with it." Louis said as he watched Marina heading towards the door. He wasn't mad enough about her to run after her like a lovesick dog. Nor was he the kind of person that begged for forgiveness when something went wrong. He just moved on, and this was a situation that they both just needed to move on from.

The next morning, after watching Marina walk out on him, Louis could feel himself being a little more on edge than usual. His arm muscles were sore from being so tense, he seemed to have short patience for the young ones on the boat, and he knew that Marina's little attitude had caused him to have a bad day.

A small sigh escaped from Louis as he pinched the bridge of his nose. He closed his eyes and counted to ten before he released his nose and looked towards the two men who were standing next to him, waiting for their orders since he had called them to the bridge. "Zeke, Henry. I need you both to keep an eye on Mss Marina." He told the boys who seemed to be in their late teens. "Show her the ropes on how to care for the ship. How to clean, and most importantly, make sure she doesn't do anything stupid." He told the boys before dismissing them and running off to do as they were told.

Charlotte was instantly annoyed once the two men showed up to her side. They seemed to cling to her like two children, determined to watch and command her every move. It did not take her long to know that this was probably the work of the captain. That was annoying, but not impossible to deal with. But it did take Charlotte half of the day to figure out how to get rid of them. At least she was able to figure it out before they moved onto cleaning. Just a little high noblewoman trick was all it took. Charlotte pretended to faint and it was only moments before she was in her bed.

Now satisfied that the door was closed, Charlotte started to get to work. She figured she would have some time before someone came to check on her. Woman fainting was seen as an usual occurrence because they were 'soft' and 'delicate' and 'not used to the cruel world'. Though most of the time it was simply because their damn corsets were too tight. But many of the ladies have learned how to fake faint to get out of things.

Charlotte sat down on the floor, preparing herself for what she had to do. Unfortunately, this was going to be nothing like drowning in the sea. The only thing she was really able to find was a dagger, which meant she was going to have to let herself bleed out. It was going to be messy but it would still be better than just straight up stabbing herself. Hopefully, Charlotte would be able to find some peace through it like when she was in the ocean.

Pulling the letter she had written the night before, Charlotte placed it on top of her bed, along with her coin purse. There was quite a bit of money in there, something she was rather sure would impress the crew. Additionally, the letter explained her desire to be thrown in the ocean. As well as the importance of the crew not looting her body or telling anyone about the event on land, for their own protection.

Once Charlotte was satisfied, she sat back down on the floor, slid her three rings on her fingers before cutting deep along her arms. The blood was soon flowing, covering her arms, her dress and down her fingers. A frown moved along her lips as she watched. The ocean had certainly been a much better experience, even with her lungs filling up...

It felt great not having to worry about watching over Marina. Just knowing that the fierce young woman was busy learning how to do manual labor really amused him. Sure, he had no idea who she really was, but, damn. He didn't care, just knowing a girl like her with an all mighty attitude washing his floors felt good.

As the morning went on, Louis could feel his annoyance of the day washing away. He even managed to hum a little bit, and he never hummed. Okay, maybe only after he had a few good rounds of sex or something, but otherwise he didn't hum.
Some of the crew members even though he was acting weird, for their own safety, they didn't say anything.

Walking towards the front of the ship, Louis noticed Henry and Zeke coming towards him. They looked nervous and out of breath. Narrowing his eyes, Louis frowned and stopped in his spot as the boys came alone. His hands clenching into fists as he felt his anger at the situation taking over.

"She fainted? What the hell were you guys having her do?" Louis growled out, about ready to choke the two boys. Then, he let out a tired sigh and told them to go and get the doctor. They were told no tiring exercises for the young lady, which was why he had picked cleaning for Marina to do. He didn't want to go against the doc's orders and risk something like this to happen.

Rushing towards the room that they permitted Marina to use, Louis, paused for a moment before he walked in. What he saw caused all of the blood in his body to run cold. "DOC! DOC COME QUICK! ANYONE, COME HERE!!" He called out and ran towards Marina. He quickly leaned down onto his knees and gently grasped onto one of her arms and looked at the wound. A small scowl appearing on his lips as he got an idea of what she had done.

"Foolish girl," Louis said as he got to work and quickly started to tear off a piece of his shirt. Then he started to tie it around one of her arms. His gaze then looked down her arm to see if he had any more cuts near him that he could try and stop. Then, what his eyes landed on caused his blood to turn cold once more. Those rings, he knew those rings.

Hearing footsteps rushing towards the room, Louis quickly grasped the rings and put them into his pockets. Then, he stood and turned towards the doc. "She cut herself." He explained, then stepped aside so that the doc could help Marina, staying close by so that he could help if he needed it.

The doctor was in a panic for a good chuck of time as he tried to keep as much blood inside of her body as possible. He was quick to tighten her arms to restrict the amount of blood that could get out before quickly stitching the young woman up. A lot of swearing took place during the process. Though once it was done, the doctor let out a long sigh. He put some his equipment away before checking the woman's vitals. "Marina has a chance to make it through this but if she makes another attempt, I don't think there is anything I will be able to do. Her body will be too weak at that point."

The man rubbed his face before continuing. "And, at that point, we should probably just let her even if it's simple. I am using too many supplies on someone who does not want to live, captain." He looked up at Louis, knowing that he probably did not want to hear what he was saying. "Someone is going to need to stay with her until she wakes up. And if you seriously want this girl to live, someone is going to need to watch her until she's done making attempts."

For a long moment, the doctor was quiet before looking up at Louis. He was afraid of getting into trouble for this next bit. "Maybe you should consider dropping her off at the next port... We could leave her at an asylum there and the doctors would be able to help her there. Clearly, this girl needs help that I am unable to provide."

He glanced down at Charlotte, who clearly was not in good shape. She was extremely pale and her breathing was much shallower than normal. And the girl was completely still as she stayed unconscious.

This was becoming too stressful for Louis. Running his hands over his face, he let his frustration show as he sighed loudly. His dark eyes looked tiredly at the doctor as he spoke. His head nodding ever so slightly in understanding. They can't keep wasting supplies on a woman who didn't want to be saved. "You're right." He said his voice monotone as he looked at the young girl on the bed. His heart tightening ever so slightly.

"I'll watch her, just. Go and make sure that Jeremy is steering us on the course that I marked out for him." The captain commanded, ignoring the part about dropping the young woman off at the nearest city. She was a beautiful girl, it just sucked that she didn't want to keep on living. "You poor thing." Louis murmured quietly once the doc had left.

Moving closer, Louis walked over towards Marina and sat down in the chair that was next to her bed. As he sat down, he reached out and gently took hold of her hand. It felt so cool in his hand, and he hated it.

Putting his other hand on top of it, Louis gently started to rub her hand, wishing to make it a little warmer. Wanting to somehow give the woman some kind of comfort in this scary situation. "Come on Marina, you can make it through this." Louis murmured quietly. "Or, should I say Charlotte?" A small smile formed on Louis's lips at the mention of her real name, it brought back so many memories, but, like anything. As soon as those memories surfaced, so did the bad and back to frowning, he went.

The night was a rough one for Charlotte. There were points where it seemed like Charlotte was on the edge of death. At one point, her breathing seemed almost non-existent and her skin was deathly white. But, somehow, she managed through the tough parts and started to breath a bit more properly again in the early hours of the morning. Her skin still stayed a sickly pale, even as the sun started to rise, it appeared that there was no color to her skin.

A little past the sunset, a small groan came from Charlotte as slowly started to move against the bed. Not long, her eyes fluttered open and she started gasping for air. Her eyes were glazed over as she glanced around in confusion. Her head was pounding and Charlotte felt like absolute shit. "Huh?" She whispered out as she looked around. As her eyes landed on Louis, she looked in utter confusion. Though after a few moments, she let out a sigh of pure disappointment as she closed her eyes again. "Fuck you." She whispered before letting out a groan.

At this point, Charlotte knew that her game was up. She was alive, and somehow this goddamn devil spawn managed to stop the one thing she wanted again. Though this time, there was no doubt that Louis knew what she was up to, and almost certainly, who she was. At the knowledge that, for some reason, this man was hell bent on saving her life, tears started to run down her cheeks. Charlotte wanted to absolutely scream. To fight, to do something but she felt too weak and tired to even move much. Again, the young woman was feeling absolutely helpless but this time it was at the hands of someone else.

"Please just stop." Charlotte cried to him. "Just let me. Just go away and let me. I-I don't want to do this anymore. There's no point anymore." She gasped, still having a difficult time breathing. "I just...Please stop."

Glancing up from the drawing that he was working at, Louis stayed silent. He just let the young woman get everything off of her chest. It was obvious to Louis that Charlotte was in pain, and it was killing him. He had no idea she'd grow up to be like this, otherwise, he would have tried harder to get her to run away with him when they were younger.

"Just relax. There isn't anything to be upset about." Louis said calmly, trying to not let it show that he was a little annoyed with how un-thankful she was being. He was waisting supplies on her, he was putting stress on his men because of her.

Closing his eyes, Louis pulled the coal pencil away from the paper as he rested his head back. He was exhausted. He had watched over her the whole night, turning down anyone who offered to take a shift to watch over her. "You know," Louis said, opening his eyes and looking towards Charlotte. It was killing him to not just call out her real name, to tell her that he was here now and could protect her.

"I brought you on here so that you could start over." He paused again so that he could look into those tired looking eyes. "You can become anyone you want to be. Cut your hair, dress like a man. Work in a brothel. Anything you want to do, you can do now." He licked over his lips, hoping that she didn't take the last one seriously or he'd be forced to lock her up till they found a town that didn't have a need for working girls. "I already gave you a new name, whoever you were in the past is dead now. You're Marina, you're a new person. What's so hard about starting over?"

Charlotte felt her heart sink as the man spoke. Why was he so determined to keep her alive? The first time was understandable, but this... It was ridiculous. There was no reason for some pirate captain to be spending any time on her, unless he wanted a hostage. "You must be a moron." Charlotte whispered, her voice clearly in pain. "Do you think I didn't try that? Do you really fucking think I chose this option first? There's... there is no escaping. It's just pain and misery and being brought to the same Hell over and over again but each time you try to get away things just keep getting fucking worse. There is no hiding I- I thought I could hide in the Goddamn Ocean but somehow even you managed to find me and isn't that just -"

The woman let out a painful gasp, having lost her breath, finding it difficult to breath between how weak she was and how much she was crying. Slowly, carefully, Charlotte lifted her ring hand up, looking over her fingers where her three rings should be. Slowly, the woman turned her head and looked up at the man. "You have my rings don't you?" Charlotte asked as she looked him over. She continued on with a sigh. "I don't know if you do or not but you would be best not to sell them or let anyone see you have them. If you look at them, I am sure you can figure out what it means." Charlotte wouldn't be surprised if he knew what the rings meant, especially since he sailed the sea. Her father and his fleet were really well known.

"Those rings symbolize why I will never be able to hide. They will always find me, no matter what I try to do. They will get me, and whoever I am with is sure to see Hell's gates. If you were smart, you would throw them and me overboard." Charlotte reached up and ran her hand across her face, trying to wipe off some of her tears rather unsuccessfully. "I am a danger to you and your crew. There is no saving me. Understand that. I need to die and it's okay. I am okay with that. Let me do what I need to do and your ship should be okay."

Charlotte hoped that would convince him. Though he seemed to be a rather stubborn man either way. So she looked up at him, pure sadness in he eyes. "Please, please just let me go. You can have all of my gold. Whatever else you want just please let me die. I promise you, I can't take it anymore and if they managed to get ahold of me again, I'll just..." Charlotte let out a sigh, unable to even explain what would happen to her.

Of all of the words that were leaving Charlotte's lips, the ones that hurt the most were hearing about how there was no escape. As well as the ones about pain and misery. Louis understood each and every one of them. As he's felt the same pain as her, he knows what she is struggling with and it's killing him. He wanted nothing more than to wrap his arms around her and hold her close as he whispered soothing words to her, but he couldn't. She was off limits, and probably always will be.

Reaching towards the nightstand without saying anything, Louis grabbed the glass of water and brought it towards her lips. "Just have a few sips of water and relax." He told her, shifting his arm under her pillow to help lift her head ever so slightly. "I understand your feelings, I really do." He told her, his voice soft as he waited for her to take a few sips of the water that he was offering her. While she was asleep, he had crushed up some of the pain pills that the doc had left for her, so hopefully, they'll help her to relax as well.

Once she'd take the water or Louis got tired of the position, he'll sit back and set the glass back onto the end table. "I have your rings, they're hidden. So you don't have to worry about them." He told her, doing his best to offer a small smile.

"I know you must have seen some horrible things in your life, Marina." Louis bit the inside of his cheek as he wished to call her by her real name once more. "But, I guarantee that you are safe now. You are protected, I will not allow for anyone or anything to harm you. You have my word. Now, please rest." He told her, sitting back in his chair and picking up his charcoal pencil and notebook once more. "I'll be here once you wake up. I won't leave you alone. I promise."

As Louis gently held her up, Charlotte let out a small gasp of pain and a few deep breaths. As he brought the cup to her lips, Charlotte took a few deeps sips, feeling rather thirsty at the moment. She looked up at him as he laid her back down, listening to the words that left his lips. None of it made any sense to her and all she wanted to do was argue with him, try to make him see that taking her on was a death sentence for him and his crew.

But, the young woman was exhausted and there was no point in arguing with him at the moment. There was no way for her to win when she felt like she could barely keep up. So, instead, the woman gave him a small nod before closing her eyes again, deciding to just listen to Captain Louis for now. Besides, it seemed like there really was no getting her way with him.

Charlotte ended up sleeping through the rest of the day, her body and the pills doing the work to keep her docile. Her breathing slowly became better as the day progressed, getting somewhere close to how it should be. The woman's face started to grow back some of his natural shade instead of the frightening ghostly white of before.

It was not until after dinner that Charlotte really opened her eyes again. Slowly, she looked around the room again, needing another reminder of where she was. Though her head was no longer pounding like before, instead her stomach was growling. Charlotte slowly turned to where Louis was in the room. "Hello." She whispered to him.

As Charlotte slept, Louis managed to get a few hours of sleep himself. Opting to sleep in the chair that was next to her bed. It was rather uncomfortable, but at least he knew that he'd be there when she woke up. Louis hated going back on his words, he always did his best to keep them. Especially when it came to Charlotte. She was his best friend after all. Or rather, she was.

After a few hours of uncomfortable shut-eye, Louis managed to wake up. Then, he grabbed a quick bite to eat from the kitchen while someone watched over a sleeping Charlotte. It was good that he had returned when he did from his little break because as soon as he sat down, Charlotte opened those pretty eyes that she possessed.

Doing his best to offer a smile, Louis leaned forward a little. Resting his forearms comfortable on his knees. "Hey." He replied, his tone just as quiet as the young girls were. "How do you feel? Do you need me to get you anything?" He asked, reaching forward and feeling her forehead with the back of his head. A small smile appearing on his lips as he realized she didn't have a fever. Which was good.

"Do you think you could stomach some porridge?" Louis asked as he pulled his arm back. He wasn't a doctor, so he wasn't sure what else he could do to help Charlotte try and recover faster. "Do you need me to call the doc?" He asked, not sure if she'd need any more medicine or anything. He was sounding like a worried spouse, he knew that but. She was family once upon a time. She was the closest thing to having someone care about him when he was young.

As Louis doted over Charlotte, she watched the man intently. Curiosity and confusion were rising up in the young woman and swimming in her eyes. This situation made little sense to her. Why did a pirate captain, especially one who was notorious, care about her at all? Louis seemed genuinely worried about her, having stayed and asking her all these questions. Her stomach turned a bit. Was he just faking? Was he hoping to get something from her - or for her.

It made sense that a pirate would want to use her status for the good of his crew, especially now that he had her rings in his possession. While Charlotte wanted to ask, she thought it best not to now that her escape plan was clearly going to fail. Plus, a part of her wanted him to just be kind... just wanted this seemingly cruel man to actually care about her. It seemed unlikely though and that tugged at the back of Charlotte's mind.

"I'm just hungry and thirsty," Charlotte told him, her voice remaining soft. "I think some porridge would be okay." As he asked about the doctor, the young woman shook her head. She did not really care for the doctor that was on board. There was something about him that just seemed like he was particularly nosy, which was something she did not want to deal with. "No, I don't want him to come here."

Charlotte let out a sigh before burying her face into the pillow for a moment. Admittedly, she was still rather annoyed at the man in front of her. Especially now that she didn't know what to do. Charlotte didn't really believe that the man could keep her safe, even if that were truly his intentions. And now she had to be worried about the crew getting slaughtered if she was found. "You're a very stubborn man."

It was good to hear that Charlotte had an appetite once again. That was a good sign, she'll need to keep her strength up if she wanted to heal from the wounds that she had conflicted onto herself. "I'll have someone fetch you more water and some porridge," Louis told her, offering a small smile as he stood from his seat. "It's good that you want to eat, it's going to help you heal faster."

Walking towards the door, Louis stopped for a moment and looked towards Charlotte. He arched an eyebrow as he heard her words. Then, he couldn't help but snort before letting out a chuckle. His head shaking ever so slightly. "You have no idea how stubborn I can be." He told her as he walked towards the door once more.

Stepping into the hall, Louis told a man who was keeping guard just in case he needed help with Charlotte that she was hungry and thirsty. The man nodded his head as he heard what the captain wanted him to bring, then turned towards Charlotte once more. A small sigh escaping his lips as he moved towards her. His arms crossed over his chest as he looked down at her petite form, making sure she had nothing else visibly wrong with her.

"You know, once we make it to the nearest city, why don't we pick up some new clothing for you," Louis suggested as he sat down in his chair once more. One leg crossing over the other as he leaned back in his seat. "A fancy lady like you will stick out like a sore thumb on a ship like mine. We need to dress you down." He told her, smirking ever so slightly. "What do you say to that?" He asked, curious about her reply.

Plus, he had a few heists that he could use her for and looking like a noble daughter wasn't going to help him in some of them.

"That's not a good thing," Charlotte muttered in response to Louis' stubbornness. She waited, patiently as the captain took a step out of the door and came back in. Though as he came back in and started to speak of buying her new clothes, the woman shook her head at him. "I have no interest in new clothes," Charlotte said before continuing on.

"I feel as though you do not understand the gravity of the situation that you are putting yourself into." Charlotte gave the captain a bit of a pointed look. "My rings that you have hidden away somewhere. Did you look at them? Do you understand what they mean? Perhaps I should explain it to you, The first ring is from My father, who is the general of Renglas. He has his own private fleet and army, not to mention the King's army and fleet at his deposal to come to find me. The second ring was given to me by the King who has set up a marriage for me and has essentially taken me in as a daughter of the crown. He will also desperately want me back due to the third ring. Which is my engagement ring to the Prince of Lanela. Who is not going to take the knowledge of his fiancee disappearing again well."

Charlotte looked exhausted as she continued to explain. "There will be two royal armies and the personal guards from a well-respected general looking for me. And the two times they found me, they weren't kind to the people hiding me. And by that I mean they killed them. I have no desire to cause more deaths. And if they find me again, I will not have another opportunity to escape and my life will somehow become worse than it is."

The woman grabbed onto the blankets of the bed, turning as though she was going to stand up on her own. A feat that she was definitely not strong enough for at the moment. "Now, unless you and your crew have some secret death wish or you can prove to me that you might actually be able to hide me from them, I will try again to kill myself. Now should I throw myself back into the sea now or do you need the night to think about it?"

Charlotte felt rather confident that the Captain would not be able to show her any evidence of his ability to hide her from, essentially, three armies run by three madmen. And while Charlotte wanted to live a pleasant life, that had been proven not to be in the cards for her. Now, the question of the matter was would Louis allow her to end it to save his own skin or was this going to be another battle for her.
