Brian sat in the back of the bar, swirling a wine glass that was halfway filled with a viscous red liquid. He hadn’t even taken one sip of the sweet drink, he was to deep in thought, his mind racing. He had just recently woken up, crawling out of a coffin deep in a mausoleum that resided in a cemetery about thirty minutes from where he sat now. The last thing he remembered before he entered, what he thought would be, his eternal sleep, was a deep sadness, one that had completely consumed him. He had hoped that by confining himself in that place of rest that he was sealing his fate, but here he was now. Awoken three-hundred years later by the only friend he had left.

He didn’t know when Matt had woken up, but it must’ve been a nice chunk of time before he had. His friend had enough time to take into his possession this little pub in a dark corner of New Orleans and all of the patrons here were just like they were; cursed to walk this gloomy world alone, forced to feed on whatever poor souls were misfortunate enough to cross their paths in the shadows.

Bringing the glass up to his lips, finally, Brian took a small sip, surprised to find the blood was still warm. His eyes glanced around the bar as he drank, feeling weird to just be sitting here in a room full of his kind, enjoying a fresh glass of blood like it was just an ordinary occurrence. He didn’t find peace or comfort here, it terrified him to think there were this many others who shared the same fate as he did. And here they were, enjoying themselves in this little safe haven where they could feel free to be who they were, but Brian couldn’t believe it. This was to good to be true. He was from a time where he remembered having to hide in the shadows for fear of being staked through the heart, having to search the sewers for rats to sustain him. But here, just a couple of centuries later and vampires weren’t afraid of humans anymore. They prowled the streets during the night and even though they weren’t proven to exist, they were the focal point of fantasy. People fantasized about them, wanted to be them… And that was only proven here in this bar, because all around him, his own kind held starstruck boys and girls on their hips, feeding off of them here in the open.

Brian was having a horrible time trying to wrap his mind around all of this, trying to become comfortable with it. He couldn’t believe Matt was able to wake up and pull all of this together, creating a secret bar that catered specifically to the damned…. He did have to admit to himself that it was a nice change of pace. When he awoke because he heard Matt calling to him, he had been devastated that he was still alive. Terrified that once he crawled out of that stone encasement that he would be going back to the way he had lived during the 18th century.

“You look so somber, sir...” Brian was pulled out of his thoughts by a young blonde boy, who looked sickly pale, but it wasn’t because he was a cursed one. This poor kid was something else, something that completely confused Brian. The boy was a volunteer, opting to be used and fed on by the vampires that took refuge here. There were many humans here that did just that job, where Matt was able to find them, Brian had no idea. He couldn’t believe humans in this day and age would actually offer themselves up like this. “Would you like a taste? It would be fresher than what you have in that glass.” The boy smirked, before tilted his head to one side, revealing the many bite marks that littered his neck, his pale skin bruised purple and red.

“No.” Brian shooed the boy away, feeling sick to his stomach. The idea completely sickened him. The young boy frowned, but listened to him and moved on to the next vampire he could offer himself up to.

Brian returned his attention to his drink, until a new scent captured his attention. He glanced up, looking in the direction of the aroma, which was at the entrance of the bar. Two young women had just entered the pub, looking a little perplexed, maybe even lost. They were both pale, but one had long pale blonde hair and the other girl’s face was framed by raven colored locks. One of them smelled absolutely captivating. Rising to his feet, Brian began to snake across the room, moving closer and closer to the pair of ladies. The closer he got, the more familiar they began to look and then instantly, it hit him. Nova and Emilia.

Stopping dead in his tracks, Brian turned away immediately and began to search the bar for Matt, he would never believe him. Out of all the loved ones and friends they had lost, those girls were the ones that broke Brian’s heart the most, especially his love, Nova. He had never forgiven himself for leaving her behind, but he knew it had been for the best. Staying with her would only have put her in danger, either he would’ve ended up hurting her, or other vampires would’ve. Could it truly be them? But how?

Brian found Matt behind the bar, dusting off bottles of bourbon and vodka, whistling to himself as he worked. He looked happy, like he had a spring in his step. Perhaps he had just indulged himself in one of the girls offering their blood for free. “Matt?” Brian grabbed his friend by the shoulder, his face paler than what was normal, and his eyes were wide, like he had just seen ghosts. He felt like he had. “Look over there.” He forced his friend to turn around and he pointed towards the entrance where the girls still stood.
Emilia had heard of this place from a flier she had seen posted downtown and it had seemed like a pretty cool, dark and edgy place to check out. The bar was called Last Drop and was hidden in a dark alley between old abandoned warehouses. Even though the bar was full of people, outside the bar had seemed like a ghost town and that had given Emilia a weird pit in her stomach and now that they were inside, well, let’s just say the pit was growing.

Every person in the bar seemed odd, most being paler than snow, some even a little gray, with deep, dark eyes. Waiters and waitresses that walked around with trays of drinks all looked sickly, like they were about to drop at any moment and now she was wondering why the bodyguard at the door had been looking at her and her friend like they were a fancy steak dinner.

“This place is weird...” Emilia whispered to her friend, Nova, as they stepped further into the bar. She knew the place marketed itself as a goth hangout, but this place had a very unsettling, eerie ambiance to it. And it seemed like all eyes were on them, every person they passed were looking at them like they weren’t supposed to be here. “Do you think we should go…?”

Emilia led the pair through the bar with an incredible ease, it seemed like the crowd was parting to let them through. Goosebumps popped up along Emilia’s arms and the hairs on the back of her neck started to stand up, she couldn’t help but think like maybe they might be in a little bit of danger here. Emilia grabbed Nova’s hand so she wouldn’t lose her, but also to help calm herself down a little bit as they walked up to the bar. She was already regretting coming here.

Matt had been awakened sometime before he decided to wake Brian up. The time he’d had to himself gave him a chance to start adjusting to the changes in the world. He managed to find the bar, abandoned and seemingly forgotten about. Everything else had just fallen into place, word spread and more like their kind started to show and eventually the human volunteers followed.

When he felt the time was right, Matt had made his way back to the mausoleum and woke Brian. He knew his friend would be just as disappointed that their plan hadn’t worked and they were both still around. He took Brian to the bar and showed him what they had now.

Matt found himself behind the bar, dusting off the many bottles of alcohol. He knew Brian was somewhere in the bar so he wasn’t too concerned. After just finishing the last shelf, he felt a hand on his shoulder and turned around to face Brian, “What?” Noticing his friend’s face seemed to be paler than normal, Matt was starting to worry.

Seeing Brian point to the door, he turned his attention that way and felt his eyes grow wide. “That can’t be possible, can it?” Matt asked Brian as his eyes followed Nova and Emilia as they hesitantly moved from the doors.
Nova eyed Emilia as they approached the bar, seeing the abandoned surroundings made her nervous. Of course they were used to sketchy bars, but this one was enough to send chills down her spine.

Following Emilia into the bar, Nova glanced around them and the surroundings inside made her even more nervous. She felt almost sick, seeing the waitresses and waiters looking just sickly.

“Maybe this wasn’t such a good idea,” Nova said softly as she moved closer to her friend. This maybe wasn’t their best choice, “I don’t know, this might be a little too much for us.”

She was surprised as Emilia started leading them through the crowd which ended up being really easy. Nova kept her head down as she followed Emilia to the bar. Once they reached it, Nova looked over at her friend. She suddenly became aware of the two men standing behind the bar. Turning her head hesitantly, Nova looked at them before nudging Emilia gently in the side.

Brian watched as the girls began to close the distance between them, seemingly heading straight for the bar. “I don’t understand how it could be possible...” Brian whispered, staring directly at Nova, feeling like maybe for just a moment, his heart could’ve started beating all over again. “but, it’s them, is it not?” He ripped his eyes away from the girls, looking over his shoulder at Matt, feeling the emptiness inside of him slowly being replaced with a sadness that was so familiar.

“It may look like them, but it can’t truly be them.” He whispered, but couldn’t help look back in their direction. The girls seemed stiff, nervously moving across the pub’s floor. Their customers could obviously sense that the girls were human, and alone, and were letting them move effortlessly through the crowd.

The girls approached the bar, Emilia being the one to lead them. Brian grabbed a rag off of the counter and nervously wiped his hands on it as he approached the girls. “You ladies thirsty?” He collected himself as he grabbed two glasses from below the bar and brought them to the counter top. “What would you two beautiful ladies like? It’s on the house.”

Now that they were so close to him, Brian was convincing himself more and more that this girl was his Nova. Her eyes were the same shade of gunmetal blue he remembered, it was impossible to forget. He remembered the way those eyes used to look at him, full of love encapsulated in ice. But it was different now, she was looking at him in a way he could tell she didn’t find him familiar, or if she did, she was hiding it well behind her fear. He could tell both girls were very uncomfortable here.
Emilia didn’t want to stand at the doors like a scared little mouse, and she was intent on at least giving the place a chance, no matter how unsettling it seemed in that moment. She led her friend past all the people who seemed to stand perfectly still, like statues, they were just as pale as statues, anyway. “Let’s at least just order a drink, give the place a little bit of a chance...” Her words came out falling over one another, shaking just as she was.

The bar was pretty empty, only a man and a woman sat at the very end of the counter. That was another thing that could be added on to the ever growing list of things that made Emilia feel uncomfortable here. What pub had an empty bar when the place was completely packed? Two men were currently tending to the bar and Emilia had felt them staring at them this whole time. Maybe it had been a mistake to not leave…

Before she could turn to Nova and suggest they skipped the drink, one of the men came up to them and clinked a pair of glasses down on the counter top. He looked impossibly tired, but like he had just woken up, his eyes were sunken in and were rimmed with shadows that only added to emphasize his deathly demeanor. His hair was a chocolate brown, tousled and messy like he hadn’t brushed it in ages, but only ran his fingers through it to push it out of his face.

“What would you two beautiful ladies like? It’s on the house.”

She looked over his shoulder at all of the dusty bottles on the shelves, they all looked completely untouched, none were even close to being empty. Stranger and stranger, she thought to herself as she slowly gave Nova’s hand a small squeeze before she let it go and took a seat at the bar. “I’ll just have a rum and coke….” Emilia’s eyes continued to flick over the bottles until her eyes landed on the man in the background.

He was tall, dressed head to toe in black and had the same ghostly disposition as the man that was trying to serve them now, except he looked like he had a little bit of life behind his eyes. They were glistening under the colorful lights of the bar, but the difference only lied in the fact that Matt had just recently fed, whereas Brian was still trying to regain his energy. Emilia couldn’t help but feel like she had seen him somewhere before, but she couldn’t quite place it, but he looked so strangely familiar.

Matt sighed as he watched the girls get closer. “They definitely resemble our girls, but I think you’re right, it can’t be them,” Matt said quietly. Seeing Emilia so close to him was bringing back his memories of them together. He’d loved Emilia and unfortunately that meant he had to keep her safe, even from himself.

As the girls sat down and Brian offered them a drink, Matt grabbed the rum off the shelf before placing it on the bar. Seeing Emilia’s beautiful blue eyes caused him to pause for second.

He quickly shook his head slightly, looking away, anywhere besides at her. Matt could feel her eyes on him causing him to wonder if maybe, just maybe she recognized him. Of course, he knew better than that there was no way she would know him.
Once they reached the bar, Nova watched as Emilia ordered a rum and coke, “I’ll have the same.” Normally, she wasn’t one for too much drinking, but she needed something to take the edge off of being in this place.

She couldn’t help looking over the man with the chocolate brown hair, there was something about him that seemed familiar. Nova was certain she had never met this man before, but she felt as though maybe she had seen him in passing?

Once their drinks were poured, Nova quickly thanked him before picking up the glass and taking a drink. The sooner the alcohol kicked in and she could relax, the better.

Brian wasted no time dropping ice cubes into the small square glasses and then pouring a shot or two of rum into each and then followed by their soda of choice. He slid a glass to each girl and placed the top back on the rum bottle before pushing it out of his way.

He pressed his hands down on the counter and let his gaze slip between each of the women yet again, trying to find something about them that was different from the girls they had left in the past.

“Are you two new to this area?” He asked, trying to bring up small talk. So far he couldn’t find one thing that was different, even Nova’s voice sounded so true to the one he remembered; he could close his eyes and still remember her whispering sweet nothings into his ear. “Care to give me your names?” He smiled, surely hoping he didn’t already know them.
Emilia watched as the man made their drinks and slid them across the counter. She picked it up slowly, watching as the ice clinked around inside the glass. She was hoping this would help calm her nerves enough so she could stop feeling so paranoid and maybe even enjoy herself a little, but something told her she would need much more than just one shot of rum for that to happen in this place.

“No, we know the area well.” That was all Emilia was willing to share about that, not wanting to give out to much personal information. Even just asking for her name was enough to make her want to clam up. “Emilia. Yours?”

She glanced towards Nova, not wanting to introduce her friend for her in case she didn’t want to give her name out. Emilia didn’t feel to comfortable herself with it, but it had just came tumbling off of her tongue before she could stop it.

Hearing Emilia say her name, Matt didn’t know how to react. Her voice hadn’t changed and she was just as beautiful as ever. Grabbing the bottle of rum from the counter, Matt placed it back on the shelf before turning his attention back to the girls.

“So, what brings you girls into the bar?” Matt asked as he leaned against the counter behind him. He wanted to get into the conversation with the girls.

Seeing that they were both hesitant to tell their names, Matt didn’t want to push their luck. “I’m Matt,” he introduced himself after Brian.
Nova was surprised to hear Emilia tell them her name. She hesitated a moment before answering, “My name’s Nova.” Even with the slight familiar feeling, Nova still wanted to turn and run.

Holding her drink in her hand, she took another sip. When Matt asked what brought them in, Nova glanced over at Emilia. “We found a flier downtown and decided to come check it out,” she said softly.

Emilia nervously rolled the glass around in her hands, shifting it one from hand to the other, before she took another sip. She still couldn’t shake the paranoid feeling that was washed over, and the way the men were looking at them didn’t help.

She was glad that Nova had answered his question, because she was starting to feel like a cat had stolen her tongue. The more she let her eyes wander around the bar, the more things she seemed to find strange. The waiters walking around all seemed to have bruised up arms and necks, and acted more like slaves that anything else. Emilia brought her focus back to Nova and their conversation, and she tried to convey to her friend through her eyes that she really didn’t think they were safe here.
Brian could tell the longer the girls sat there, slowly sipping at their drinks, the more and more anxious they were becoming. It was obvious this place wasn’t a normal bar, they didn’t try to hide anything. There were vampires off in corners, sitting in lounge chairs, feeding off of either their servants or humans they had brought in with them and waitresses and waiters walked around with fresh bite marks obviously displayed. He was sure the girls were starting to catch on and he wasn’t quite sure why the body guard outside just let them in without escorts.

“That’s a very pretty name. I used to know someone named Nova, a long, long time ago.” Brian spoke with a bit of disdain in his voice. He didn’t like even thinking about his past life, let alone talking about it. It was like ripping off a bandaid repeatedly, but with Nova sitting here right in front of him, it wasn’t just the bandaid that got removed, the whole wound got ripped back open.

Nova felt just as uncomfortable and unsafe as Emilia, but she was afraid to just get up and walk away from the bar. She took another drink and sat her glass on the counter, trying to calm herself down a little.

Hearing Brian mention that he had known another Nova a long time ago, she raised an eyebrow. Nova’s name wasn’t exactly a really common one.

Nova was very well aware of their surroundings as she tried to focus. It made her that much more uncomfortable to see the servers with suspicious bruises and marks littering their skin.
Matt could tell the girls were starting to get restless and uncomfortable. He really wanted to keep Emilia around for just a little bit longer.

The girls were in no real danger at the moment, most of the vampires in the bar were more than satisfied with the human volunteers. Even if anyone decided to try anything, Matt knew that neither Brian or himself would let anything happen to Nova or Emilia.

“Emilia isn’t a name you hear too often, it’s a beautiful one though,” Matt commented, hoping to have even a small conversation with her.

There were a few new things Brian had been able to do since he was turned, and one of his new abilities was being able to read people like a book. He could sense their emotions and sometimes had insight on their thoughts, but he didn’t need any of that to see just how uncomfortable and scared Nova was. And it was obvious why. He watched her eyes flick back and forth around the bar, focusing primarily on the servers and their marks. He didn’t want anything scaring her off, he couldn’t believe he had the love of his life right at his fingertips and he wanted to keep her here as long as he could.

“Well hopefully you two are enjoying yourselves.” Brian grabbed the rag again and continued cleaning off the bar out of nerves. He knew they weren’t, but he wanted to keep the conversation going so they wouldn’t have an excuse to leave just yet. “I know it’s a little spooky in here.” He tried to lighten the mood with a joke.
Biting down on the inside of her lip, Emilia decided to just keep her focus on the bartenders, trying to ignore what was going on around her. She didn’t want to think about why the servers were littered in bruises and bite marks and why all the patrons here looked like they just crawled out of a tomb somewhere.

“Thanks.” She sighed, letting her eyes flick up to meet his. They were impossibly black, and she didn’t know if it was just because the lighting in here or the shadows, but she could’ve sworn they were twinkling with highlights of green and hazel earlier, but now they were just void of everything but darkness. “Do you guys own this bar or are you just bartenders...?”

Nova finished her drink and placed the glass on the bar. When Brian spoke, Nova turned to look at him. She felt like maybe he was trying to make them more comfortable. “Well this is definitely different from any other bar we’ve been in, but it is worth checking it out,” Nova said as she looked over at him.

She took a second to look around the bar again, “Its a little darker than we’re used to.” Hearing that they owned the bar, Nova raised an eyebrow, “What made you guys decide to open a bar?”

The entire bar seemed like some type of vampire scene from a movie. There was no way Nova would believe something like that was possible. It just seemed like these guys had a strange taste that people just so happened to love.
“Oh yeah, we own the bar,” Matt told her, seeing that she was trying to avoid looking anywhere else in the bar. Matt knew that if Emilia and Nova got up and just tried to talk out there was a possibility that they would attract attention from the others.

It didn’t happen, humans just walking out of the club. Mostly because the only ones that came in were there to be voluntarily fed from and knew they weren’t going to be leaving again.

Stepping back, Brian crossed his arms over his chest and let himself look around the bar that Matt had been able to bring to life. He was proud of it and proud of his friend for waking up and working hard to make sure they could have a better life the one they had tried to escape, but he knew right now he needed to reel back his pride.

“What can we say, we’re both just horror lovers.” Brian laughed, hoping that little white lie was enough to help the girls relax. If they thought the dark macabre environment of the bar was just a theme, all for show, hopefully they would calm down and begin to enjoy themselves. The last thing he wanted was the two of them trying to run out of here and draw even more attention to themselves.
Emilia’s eyes narrowed slightly when she listened to Brian’s explanation. Just horror lovers? So this was just all for show? The sickly pale, bruised and beaten servers were just for looks? It was hard thing for Emilia to wrap her mind around and believe. She could enjoy a good horror movie and loved dark aesthetics, but the way they managed to perfectly pull off this whole elaborate scheme with their customers even walking through the door looking like corpses and vampires.... could she really believe them?

“Impressive.” Emilia gave Matt a small smile and brought her glass back up to her lips.

Hearing Brian say they were horror fans, Nova nodded. She agreed with Emilia, the detail and dedication to the decor, servers, and even customers was impressive. “It must have taken a lot of work to get this place just right then,” Nova said.

Even though she didn’t fully believe the explanation, Nova didn’t feel like questioning it. Part of her was able to relax a little as she watched Brian pour her another drink. Taking the glass in her hand, Nova thanked Brian before taking a drink.

Nova thought that maybe with a little more alcohol, the bar wouldn’t seem so odd. There was still a strange feeling coming from Brian, and as much as Nova wanted to ignore it, she knew it wasn’t possible.
Matt smiled, horror lovers, good cover Brian. He shook his head slightly, the bar had taken a pretty good amount of time to get settled and Matt was incredibly proud of all he had accomplished.

Seeing the small smile that crossed Emilia’s lips caused Matt to smile. Emilia’s smile was more beautiful than any smile he had seen before his three hundred year sleep.

It was a real test of his self control, having Emilia so close to him. It seemed as though she didn’t have any idea of who he was, which meant that Matt’s memories and their past meant nothing. “Thank you, we’re pretty proud of it,” Matt smiled at her slightly.

Emilia finished her drink, taking the last sip in the bottom of the glass and held it in her hands, partially because she was still on edge and partially because she didn’t want Matt to try and fill it back up again. If anything, she was trying to think of an excuse as to why they had to leave.

They could sit there for hours and tell them this whole place was just a theme, all for show and shock value, but Emilia couldn’t believe it. It seemed too real and too creepy.

She pulled her phone out from her pocket and glanced down at it, pretending to be surprised. “Damn, Nova, it looks like time really got away from us.” She chuckled, trying to play it off. “It’s almost midnight, we should probably run-“ She glanced back at Matt and chewed on the inside of her cheek. “I have work in the morning so...”
Brian swallowed a lump in his throat, immediately feeling anxious when he heard Emilia mention they needed to leave. He gave Matt a worried glance before returning his gaze to the women, trying to remain calm.

“Are you sure you wouldn’t like one more drink?” Brian offered her, grabbing the bottle of rum back off the shelf and setting it down in front of her. “After all, your friend hasn’t finished her drink yet.”

He glanced towards Nova, hoping she wouldn’t push her still-almost-completely full drink away and agree about leaving with Emilia.

Nova was a bit relieved when Emilia came up with an excuse for them to leave. Seeing her drink in front of her, Nova took it and drank half of it, “Yeah, you’re probably right. I have to work in the morning too.” She was trying to seem disappointed that they needed to leave.

“We’ll have to come back another night when we don’t have to work,” Nova said, giving the guys an apologetic smile. She knew there was no way Emilia would be taking another drink.
Matt started to panic when Emilia mentioned leaving. He didn’t want her to go, mostly because he knew there was no way she would come back into the bar.

Glancing over at Brian as Nova agreed with Emilia, Matt was trying to think of anything to stall them. “Are you sure you don’t want to stay for one more drink? What could it hurt?” He asked.

Emilia hated just how frantic the boys seemed to be acting because they wanted to leave. “I really can’t, I have to be up in about seven hours for work...” Emilia pushed herself up from her seat and began to put her jacket back on.

“Cmon, Nova, I’ll drive you home.” She looked towards her friend, her eyes showing just how scared she was becoming. What if the boys wouldn’t let them leave? She glanced around the bar once more, noticing a lot of the other patrons were staring at them, their eyes seeming to be locked onto them.

“Thanks for the drink, it was very kind of you.” Emilia grabbed Nova’s arm and began to pull her away from the bar, feeling like her heart was thumping wildly in her chest.
Brian immediately felt his heart begin to sink in his chest, watching as Emilia pulled Nova away from him. He felt like he was losing her all over again, she was being ripped away from him, like water running through your hands. Impossible to hold on to.

He placed a hand down on the counter and looked at Matt, his eyes frantically searching over his friends face, trying to think of anything they could to do to either get the girls to stay, or promise to come back. But he knew they wouldn’t, they were terrified, they’d never come back.

“It’s not very safe around this area-“ Brian blurted out, immediately coming out from behind the counter. “Can we at least walk you to your car?”

Nova was ready to follow Emilia out the door when she noticed everyone in the bar staring at them. She became even more scared, gripping on to Emilia as they stepped away from the bar. Suddenly, the idea of going out into the abandoned alley and being surrounded by the ghostly looking buildings was enough to make her freeze.

Hearing Brian speak up about the dangers in the area, Nova glanced at Emilia. To be honest, Brian and Matt seemed to be the least threatening of anyone around them. “I-I suppose it couldn’t hurt,” Nova said before looking at Brian.
Matt was relieved when Brian came up with the idea of walking them out. He wasn’t lying when he told the girls it wasn’t safe for them to be out there alone.

“Brian’s right, at least let us walk you out and make sure you’re safe. There’s no telling what or who could be out in the shadows,” Matt said, looking at the girls. He tried his best not to smile slightly when Nova accepted Brian’s offer.

Emilia didn't like the idea of the two strange men walking them anywhere, let alone to their car so they could know what they were driving. Sure it was polite for them to offer, and even though they did seem familiar for some odd reason, she didn't trust them at all, and she was sure she could get her and her friend to their car safely. But Nova had already agreed, so Emilia didn't have much of a choice.

Matt's comment about there was no telling what kind of dangers could be out in the shadows almost made her scoff, she wanted to point out that it seemed like most of the creepers seemed to be in this bar, but she knew that was harsh and they were just trying to be nice. Well, hopefully they were trying to be nice. At least, Emilia was hoping they were just trying to be nice.

She pulled her purse onto her shoulder and waited for the two boys to come out from behind the counter and escort them out of the bar. When she turned around and started to walk towards the door, she could see that every single person who was standing around them were just watching them, completely silent. Emilia frowned and crossed her arms over her chest tightly and just walked to the door a little faster.
Brian knew exactly why every vampire in the bar were staring the girls down, to them they were potentially just their next meal and they were all wondering why they were just waltzing out of the bar. He didn't need Matt to fill him in on how the vampire culture had changed, he could clearly see it, plain as day. Vampires held power now, they didn't cling to the shadows like they once did, and they didn't like seeing two beautiful women just escape their clutches.

He shot a glare that was so strong at each vampire they passed, making them drop their gaze from the pair of girls they were escorting out. Of course, he didn't want them to leave and he was using this as an excuse to have more time with them, but he had also offered to walk them out because he knew it really wasn't safe. If they had left the bar alone, Brian had no doubt in his mind that at least a handful of vampires would've been right on their heels.

Stepping out in the cold, crisp night, Brian looked around in both directions. "Lead the way, ladies." He smiled, for a brief second letting his sharp canines sparkle under the moonlight.

Even though Nova wouldn’t admit it, she felt a little bit better knowing they had escorts leading them out. Feeling every customer in the bar stare them down as they walked out with Brian and Matt. She felt like a piece of meat being dangled in front of a group of lions. Once they reached the door, Nova let out a breath of relief.

“This way,” Nova said as she pulled her jacket closer around her and continued to walk up the alley towards the car. Glancing over at Brian, she almost stopped in her tracks. Seeing him smile and she caught a glimpse of what she could have sworn looked like fangs.

Nova shook her head as they continued walking, deciding her nerves had to be getting the best of her. Vampires weren’t real and her mind was having fun playing games with her. Once they reached the car, Nova stopped and looked at Brian, “Thanks.”
Matt walked out from behind the bar and followed Nova and Emilia towards the door. He actually missed when vampires were secluded to the shadows and not so bold. The vampires were watching every move the girls made and Matt couldn’t help but grin when Brian made them all look away.

After following the girls out the door, Matt glanced around them. There didn’t seem to be anyone else around, but he was sure that vampires in the area wouldn’t hesitate to go after them the second they were alone.

He was relieved when the girls stopped at a car in a better lit area. “Well, sorry you girls didn’t have a better time tonight, get home safe,” Matt smiled, but just barely. He knew it was killing Brian to know that the girls were going to leave.

Brian was relieved when they made it out of the bar without any escalations. He was sure that none of the vampires were going to try and start any trouble with the men that owned the bar, but then again, who really knew what they would’ve done? He was just glad to be out of the bar with the girls and now safely walking them to their car. He followed Nova’s direction and escorted the girls along with Matt to where they had parked.

Once they had made it to the dimly lit parking lot, he watched as the girls made a beeline for a black Chevy Malibu that looked like it might’ve been around a 2013, maybe a 2014. He was trying to remember what their car looked like and was hoping he could maybe get a glance at their license plate. Anything that would make it easier to track them down later. He refused to let Nova slip through his fingers again.

He followed with Matt until they were about five feet away from the car, wanting to give the girls their space. “I apologize, too.” He cleared his throat and looked in Nova’s direction. “If you girls ever find yourselves on this side of town again, feel free to stop by for another drink.”

    _

Emilia felt an immediate sense of relief when they stepped out of the bar and were on the way back to their car. She still had her guards up, feeling completely suspicious of these men even though she felt much safer with them then she would’ve if they were walking back on their own.

When her car came into sight, she almost broke out in a dance, and wanted to run for it, anything to get away from the creepiness of these two men. But once she was next to her car, with her hand on the handle of the door, another emotion ran over her. One that stopped her from just saying goodbye and getting in and driving off immediately. She had something inside telling her that these men were more than just familiar and she felt an overwhelming sense of interest, but going with her better judgment, she unlocked her door and opened it.

“Perhaps.” Emilia answered Brian, looking at the two men just standing in the shadows of the parking lot. They seemed like something straight out of a horror movie, some creepy vampires just lurking in the shadows waiting for their next victims. “Goodbye.” She had to force herself to get into her car, unlocking the passenger door for Nova.
