“Pretty lame, if you ask me,” Sera retorted easily in response, snorting quietly, because immortality meant constant loss, and Sera had no interest in that. As Ashton got closer, she tried to ignore how close he was, the scent that surrounded him, and those damn dimples. “Not even in the least.” She didn’t tear her gaze from him but, when his eyes went black and he leaned to her ear, she tried to ignore the way her heart jolted, not from fear but from something else she didn’t want to acknowledge, something she didn’t want to admit to feeling, trying not to shudder, but she frowned. Listening to his words, her brows furrowed and she wondered what exactly had happened to him, but she didn’t question it, instead straightening slightly, staring up at him. “A year is fine with me. It’s a deal.” And, in her opinion, it was worth it. She’d just have to go to whatever lengths possible to make sure her brothers never found out about it.
Sam nodded slightly to Dean’s words, peering over at his brother with determination before he looked back to their sisters. “Dean’s right,” he promised, “Whether you stick with us or go back to your lives, if you ever need us, we’re just a call away. You’ll always be able to count on us, I promise. We all promise.” He offered a small smile, but he blinked when he heard Ivy’s question and, for a moment, he thought about how to answer, because he knew how their father was and why he was the way he was, but it was hard to really explain that in a way that wouldn’t really outright scream trouble. “He was… Strict, difficult, stern…” He chose his words carefully, watching the girls, not wanting to paint their father in the worst way, but also not wanting to lie to them. “He was very… Specific about what he wanted for us and, if we didn’t want it, too, it didn’t usually have the best outcomes.” Shifting, though, he cleared his throat. “But, everything he did, he did it for us - for all of us, - to make the world safer, better… I’ll give him that much.”
Violet opened her mouth to ask more questions, but, hearing Rose, she was quick to snap her mouth shut again and, watching their brothers, she offered a small nod before she focused on eating. It was still a lot to take in, a lot to wrap her head around, but she wanted to at least try. A part of her, a part she wasn’t fully ready to admitting to, wanted to discover what this life was like - and she wasn’t sure if it was from her curiosity about this world or from her desire to be around the family members they didn’t know they had for the longest. For now, though, she kept that thought to herself and ate quietly, taking in everything the others were saying, and processing it all.
Michael nodded his agreement to Luke’s words, frowning deeply. “They’re not worth it,” he said firmly, watching Castiel for a few long moments. “They weren’t worth saving, not the first time and not any time after. All they’ve done is stir the pot and make things even more difficult for us - in fact, more demons have popped up consistently because of what they’d done. Since saving Dean the first time, all that’s happened is that more troubles have arisen, and it never truly ends, because they just attract more. They’re not saviors, Castiel. They’re the ones that are going to drive the world to disaster - well, further into disaster, anyway.” Shrugging easily, he leaned back in his seat. “And, Luke is right. You’re assuming that we can’t do what we’re meant to do. Instead, you put every ounce of faith you have into mere humans, mortals, and, in the end, that faith you have in them is going to end up getting them killed, anyway. Everything you’re trying to protect them from is eventually going to catch up to them, as it should.”
“We weren’t able to stop Lucifer before. In fact, many angels wanted Lucifer to escape, if you recall,” Castiel reminded as he watched Luke and Michael for a long moment. “The Winchesters are loyal and they’ll do the right and good things to save the world, whereas we angels have been going about things all wrong.” And, he would defend the Winchesters and their loyalty and their goodness with everything he had in them. “You’re so against them without even meeting them. Perhaps you’re merely cowards? Afraid to meet the Winchesters and have every opinion you have about them altered? Until you give them a chance, your opinions mean nothing, and I think, if you’re so determined to discredit them, to doubt them, then it’s only fair you see what they’re made of yourselves.”
Lexine’s jaw clenched as she watched Crowley and she rolled her eyes slightly. “We may not be assets, Crowley, but, at least, for the most part, we have been pretty loyal to you,” she pointed out easily, “Otherwise, we wouldn’t sit through these ridiculous rants about Lucifer and the cage and him escaping. I don’t see anybody else willing to listen to you rant.” Scoffing quietly, she moved to stand up. “But, fine, you want us to go up there and act human and get close to the Winchesters, so be it. When you’re all alone down here when Lucifer gets free, you can blame yourself.” And, turning, she exited the room, slamming the door shut behind her.
Calum watched quietly, frowning deeply to Crowley’s words as he watched him. “You know, mate, you might want to treat your followers a little better. That’s no way to keep loyalty,” he said easily in response before he shrugged slightly. “But, you want us to do this? Alright, as you wish.” Moving to stand, he slipped his hands into his pockets. “But, question -” He stared after Lexine as she left before he looked back to Crowley. “Aside from pretending to be humans, are there any actual rules to this… Game?” He arched a brow, watching Crowley for a few long moments before he tilted his head. “I mean, certainly, we don’t have to spend twenty-four-seven around the Winchesters, do we? And what about indulging our desires?” Just the thought made a small smirk form on his lips. “No matter the desire, I might add. If you’re sending us out on this sort of mission, the least you could do is tell us what we’re allowed and unallowed to do, so we can know just how much fun we’re allowed to have.”
