Unexpected Love

‘I’m a little bit hungry but I don’t want to wake Bucky up by moving him too much. This is one of the first times in awhile that he’s actually gotten a good rest without tossing and turning,’ he ran his fingers through Bucky’s hair, ‘I wish I could’ve gotten to him quicker on that train...I feel like this is my fault. If I could’ve gotten to him, I could’ve protected him.’ Steve looked down.

‘My friend Silver owns the place. I eat here all the time and whatever she recommends is always good. She will bring us our food shortly,’ the white haired woman smiled at Carol.

Ella bit her lip and wondered if her kiss had anything to do with his peacefulness. Ella watched the way Steve looked at Bucky with so much love and affection. Like they were dating? She shook it off, and stared st Steve reaching for his hand and rubbed it gently. “Hey; it’s not your fault, you didn’t know what was going to happen.” Ella this time reached for his face looking into his big blue eyes, they were beautiful, her heart was pounding in her chest. He was so handsome, “it’s going to be okay, I believe in you two, I have an idea on why he must be so peaceful...”

Carol took a sip of her drink that had been brought to her and nodded as she listened to Angelic. “I’m sure it is, you should see the food from my planet it’s insane, some of it is good some of it isn’t. I brought you some of our fruits and vegetables for you to try, I think you’ll like it.. I have to wash them though.”

‘I feel like it is my fault. I could’ve taken care of my enemy quicker, I could’ve gotten to him quicker. I could have pulled him back on the train but I wasn’t fast enough and now he’s going through all this and I hate seeing him like this,’ he told her before she told him she thinks she knows why he’s so peaceful, ‘why do you think he’s sleeping so peacefully Ella?’

Angelic nodded, ‘I can’t wait to try them. I know you’ve told me so much about your food back on your home planet. That pizza and cheese burger that you keep mentioning sounds divine. I would like to visit so I can eat some of that. And those milkshakes, I would like one,’ she smiled.

Ella bit her lip; “you can’t dwell on the past Steve you did what you could and the important thing is that he’s under your protection now.. we’re going to help him.” Ella looked at Steve “well... he was having a panic attack and I wanted to calm him down last night; and I didn’t know what else to do.,. So I kissed him.” She whispered the last bit.

Carol beamed, “that will be great I’ll have to take you once the planet is better secured and you know.. “ she couldn’t wait to introduce her to her best friend back home and her “niece”

Steve couldn’t help but feel a little jealousy at the fact that she kissed him, ‘oh well I’m glad you calmed him down enough that he can sleep peacefully. Thankyou,’ he told her, still running his fingers through Bucky’s hair. He knew his emotions were showing on his face. He couldn’t hide them if he tried.

‘And I know what Carol?’ She leaned closer so that she was leaning over the table and her lips were inches away from the blonde woman’s.

Ella blinked looking at Steve, “I’m sorry I didn’t want to upset you..I didn’t know you and Bucky.. had a um special bond.” Ella took a step back a little nervous, “I just wanted to help.”

Carol let out a laugh, “nothing it’s just expression you’ll find that humans are weird.” She kissed her softly.

‘I’m not angry at you. You don’t need to be nervous. Ella really it’s okay,’ he gave her a little smile, ‘don't worry about it. I’m thankful you helped him and distracted him enough that he could sleep. He needs it bad.’

She kissed her back before sitting back down, smiling when Silver brought over their drinks. It was a greenish liquid that sparkled, ‘I just made that from our fresh eran fruits we just picked this morning. I hope you enjoy it while I finish preparing your food,’ she bowed a bit before walking back toward the kitchen.

Ella blushed looking down at her hands, “are you two.. like together?” Ella bit her lip nervously. “Im sorry that was rude of me.”

Carol smiled widely and nodded, “that looks delicious thank you so much.” Carol took a sip and smiled, “this is really good; never tasted something like this before”

‘No it’s not rude. It’s a question. Yes we’re together. I thought I lost him that night and when I found out he was alive. I fought to get him back and now I have him back,’ he smiled down at Bucky’s sleeping form.

‘Oh the fruit that makes that drink is our national fruit. I love it so much but it’s only grown on the planet a few times a year. I cherish it every time I get to drink it,’ she smiled down at the glass she had in her hands that held the precious sparkling green liquid.

Ella nodded, “then I guess that kiss was probably more gross to him then I thought..” she said softly. “I should go start making something to eat for you guys.. “

Carol looked at the liquid and smiled “this might be a bit expensive then huh?” She took another drink and looked st the woman in front of her, “so what should we do with our free time?”

‘He likes girls too and so do I. You should have seen him in the forties, he was the biggest flirt. Taking out girl after girl. Nobody could resist his charm, including myself. I fell for him hard. But as for you, he didn’t think it was gross. He probably liked it based on how good he’s sleeping now.’

‘Oh Silver never charges me for the food and drink but I always find a way to repay her since she’s stubborn and won’t take my money. I sneak in after dark and clean the place up, leaving her a note so but she knows it’s me. And hmm I can take you to my other favorite spot on the planet. How does that sound?’

Ella smiled softly and nodded, “it’s hard not to, he’s got pretty eyes, just like you, ermmm.. I’m going to ahead and make food...” she started to walk away slowly. “Well.. um tell him thanks? I don’t know...” she bit her lip. Running away to make food.

Carol listened and nodded “she seems like a very cool person, carol looked at the food in front of them. Everything smelled delicious didn’t look like her home worlds food but still looked great.

It’s been a few months since Ella found Steve and Bucky bleeding and suffering from wounds from hydra. The two of them had started to slot themselves into Ella’s life, helping her cook, clean, do housework and such. Things like shopping had to be done by her but everything else, they helped with. Bucky would sometimes not be able to think properly and Ella would kiss him to distract him and make him focus on her instead of hydra, to calm him.

‘Oh this you won’t find anywhere else in all of the galaxies. This food is special and is only grown and made here. You’ll love it,’ Angelic beamed.

Ella was sitting next to Bucky on her sofa in the living room, braiding his hair smiling brightly. He seemed very relaxed, he had relaxed so much since she first met him. He still had some episodes but nothing so serious, she did kiss him once in awhile. Purely out of distraction though, to help him. Ella did enjoy it though. Steve wasn’t quite as open with her as Bucky and it hurt a little. She sometimes wondered if he even liked her st all. “So now that I braided your beautiful hair Bucky, what shall we do?”

Carol smiled brightly as she stared at her food in delight, “I know! It’s so good, thanks so much for inviting me again. I appreciate it.” After dinner Carol followed Angelic to her favorite spot.

He looked up at her, ‘I don’t know. I mean we can’t really go into the city without me maybe getting noticed and chased. So maybe we can watch a movie. I need to catch up. I haven’t really gotten the chance to do that.’

It was a very beautiful cottage outside of the village they were in and on its own hill, overlooking the village below. It was a very simple cottage, made of stone with beautifully crafted stained glass windows, double doors with flowers all around.

Ella stared at the floor, “hm, I guess you guys can do that. I don’t have much of a collection since I never leave the area, I’ll be back in a while.” She grabbed her bag and decided to go out into the city. To just be alone. It’s been a couple months these guys didn’t really want to be out here she could tell, they didn’t really want to be her friend either. Which is fine, she guess she understood, it kind of hurt. Bucky did play games with her and made her laugh and she’d put a smile on his face which was nice to see. Not Steve though. He wasn’t rude or anything he just didn’t go out of his way to get to know Ella. She walked alone into the city just looking around for stuff to bring back to keep them entertained.

Carol looked at the scenery and smiled it was a very pretty area, she’d never seen anything quite like it. “Wow, you’re planet is beautiful, on second thought you don’t want to go to earth,” She laughed. “You’d think it’s gross, they don’t take care of it. It’s embarrassing really.”

Bucky frowned. He wanted to watch a movie with her in the house. He didn’t want her to leave. He sighed when she left. Steve sat down next to him, ‘she braided your hair?’

‘Yeah don’t you like it?’ He smirked.

‘It’s nice. Where did she go?’

‘She went out to go get some things. I think I upset her without meaning to. I wanted to watch a movie with her and I think she took it the wrong way.’

‘No I still want to see your planet. It will be interesting and you have told me of some of the wonderful things Earth has so I still want to go,’ she smiled widely.

Ella spent hours out of the house, to be honest, she didn’t want to go back. She was feeling hurt and needed to cry her feelings out without having them question her. She made sure to head back before sunset, she had bought some board games and movies. Making her way back she made sure to grab some groceries. Walking into her cabin she closed the door behind her and sighed, she was exhausted. This would give her an excuse to take a bath and head to bed. “I’m back.” Ella spoke softly placing the bags on the table

“Got you guys some board games you might like I don’t know, for some more food..” she thought for s minute. “Well, help yourself I’m going to take a shower... or bath. I’m beat.” She mumbles and walked into her room.

Carol laughed “I mean it has spots that are beautiful but overall you wouldn’t be impressed by it. No one usually is” she laughed. Shaking her head. “Your plante though it’s gorgeous..”

‘Wait,’ Bucky stood, gently taking her wrist, ‘I’m sorry about earlier. I wasn’t trying to upset you. I wanted to spend some time with you. I didn’t mean it the way you took it. I enjoy spending time with you. I’m sorry.’

‘And I’m sorry too,’ Steve stood, ‘I realize I haven’t been the most open person in the world and I apologize. I haven’t really let anybody romantically in since Peggy and now Bucky.’

‘Carol,’ she whined, ‘you promised to take me. I want a cheeseburger and a milkshake. I want to see the ocean and the mountains and the inventions you guys have. The museums and the architecture. Please,’ she begged cutely.

Ella turned around and stared at Bucky, she wasn’t hurt by his actions and she couldn’t be upset with him. “I know Bucky, it’s okay. I needed to clear my head is all, it’s nothing that you did. I promise.”

She looked over at Steve, “I understand, you don’t have to tell me anything. That’s your choice I guess. I’m not going to force you to spend time with me when you clearly don’t want to. It’s okay. I’m going to go take that bath now.” She have Bucky a small peck on his cheek. She turned to go into the bathroom closing the door behind her. Tears falling from her eyes. Starting her bath, she undressed and climbed in.

Carol laughed finding it adorable how childish she was acting it was cute, she’s seen many people interact like this. Carol laughed shaking her head, “all right all right, but I gotta warm you people aren’t very welcoming, they’ll probably look at you strange. Im afraid I may hit someone” she chuckled.
